Unconventional [Rebirth] - Chapter 10
When Jiang Rui bent down to get into the car, he found that there was another person in the back seat.
It was a man dressed in a very strange way for the season.
He was dressed in all white. Although it was almost warm enough for short sleeves, he was wearing a thick white trench coat and a scarf that covered most of his face. He had a snow-colored blanket on his lap and was even wearing gloves.
The man was holding a stack of papers that looked like documents and was quickly reviewing them. His speed was so astonishing that Jiang Rui wondered if he was even reading them. There was another stack of documents next to him, and he didn’t know if they had been reviewed or were waiting to be.
Jiang Rui subconsciously softened his movements, as if he was afraid of disturbing the person sitting in the back. He carefully got into the car and gave Yang Feng, the driver, a questioning look.
Yang Feng was so quiet he didn’t dare to make a sound. He couldn’t care less about Jiang Rui and just sat there with his eyes looking straight ahead.
Jiang Rui was rarely able to see such a timid side of Yang Feng. While secretly enjoying the moment, he was also guessing the identity of the strangely dressed man in the back seat.
“Let’s go back to the Taibai Tower,” the man suddenly said.
Jiang Rui’s heart trembled. The man looked strange, but his voice was clear and low, like a jar of aged wine that had been frozen for years. It was indescribably pleasant to the ears.
“Yes, sir,” Yang Feng immediately replied.
Along the way, the man didn’t make a sound. Jiang Rui and Yang Feng didn’t dare to speak either, and they remained silent all the way to the Taibai Tower.
The Taibai Tower was a restaurant under Yang Feng’s name. It had an ancient style and a particularly good atmosphere. The prices were also terrifyingly high.
Jiang Rui could see from a distance that there was someone standing at the door as if they were waiting to greet them.
Yang Feng was about to get out of the car to open the door for the “sir,” but someone had already done it. Then, the man bent down and got out of the car, handing his blanket and documents to the middle-aged man who had opened the door for him.
It was only then that Jiang Rui realized the man was extremely tall. His long trench coat only reached his shins. Most of his face was hidden by his scarf, but from the parts of his eyebrows that were exposed, he was not just handsome, he was stunning.
“Uncle Cheng, is everything ready?” the man asked the middle-aged man.
Uncle Cheng replied, “Everything is ready, sir. We are just waiting for you and Young Master Jiang.”
The man nodded, took a few steps forward, and then stopped when he noticed that the people behind him were still standing there. He turned and asked, “Why aren’t you walking?”
Jiang Rui wanted to say that he had just come to ask Yang Feng for a small favor and didn’t need to go in. But with the man’s words, he had no choice but to follow him inside.
Jiang Rui didn’t expect that the person he was going to see today was not Yang Feng, but this “sir”—the real buyer of all his flowers.
Yang Feng only knew that the man was an important person from Xiangcheng and had a high status in the “sect.” He didn’t know his specific identity or even his name. He just followed everyone else and respectfully called him “sir.”
Jiang Rui had never been to the Taibai Tower and had no idea when Qing City had gotten such an elegant place. He didn’t even remember there being a person like Yang Feng in Qing City, let alone a place called the Taibai Tower.
The dishes on the table were exquisite and expensive. Many of them were even rare in the future. Despite this, the man still seemed very dissatisfied, frowning.
Jiang Rui was reminded of a white cat he had in his previous life. It was very pampered. Its food was specially made for it every day, and even the most expensive cat food had to be chosen according to its mood.
Yang Feng knew that this dinner was the man’s treat to Jiang Rui. He was about to leave, but he saw Jiang Rui frantically giving him a look, and he hesitated.
“Sit down,” the man suddenly said.
Jiang Rui and Yang Feng exchanged glances. Who was he talking to? Besides Yang Feng, Uncle Cheng was also standing in the room.
Uncle Cheng explained with a smile, “Sir is telling Mr. Yang to sit down and eat with him.”
Jiang Rui’s tense body relaxed a little.
When they were about to eat, the man finally took off his scarf, revealing a pale but perfectly flawless face.
Jiang Rui had never seen anyone so good-looking in his two lifetimes. Only one word came to his mind: a seductively beautiful man.
Yang Feng had obviously seen the man’s face before. In addition to being wary of his identity, he only glanced at him out of the corner of his eye and didn’t dare to look again.
At this moment, Jiang Rui’s heart was in turmoil. He had never heard of the name Rong Jingting, but the surname Rong was enough to make him afraid. It was because all the power he had was built on the backing of the Rong Family.
Just the surname Rong was enough to explain his relationship with the Rong Family. No wonder his former boss told him that he must not neglect this person at all and that he must not reveal any information about him.
“Thank you for your flowers,” Rong Jingting said with little expression and in a calm tone. But the words of thanks coming from a person like him made Jiang Rui feel the sincerity within them.
Uncle Cheng once again served as the interpreter: “It’s a miracle, really. Our sir was born with a weak body and was sensitive to the cold, which made him prone to illness. The first time he got that pot of Clivia from Young Master Jiang was by chance. He saw that the flower was blooming so well, so he put it in his bedroom to admire. After a while, he was surprised to find that his body had gotten much better. He used to be unable to go out for more than ten days a month, but now, besides still being sensitive to the cold, he can stay outside like a normal person and barely gets sick.”
“The flowers grown by Young Master Jiang have miraculous effects. To be honest, for the sake of our sir’s health, we have been ordering your flowers every month and have been studying them for a long time, but we haven’t been able to find the specific reason. When sir found out, he was very angry and told us to stop studying your flowers. He insisted on coming to Qing City in person to express his gratitude.”
Hearing this, Jiang Rui pretty much understood what had happened. He had originally wanted to find a cash cow to buy his flowers, but he didn’t expect to reel in a prize catch.
“It’s a mutually beneficial arrangement. You guys are also giving me a very generous price. I’m not at a loss here.” After listening to Uncle Cheng’s words, Jiang Rui was a little surprised by Rong Jingting’s respect for him. He couldn’t help but feel a little fond of him, and his attitude became more natural.
“Please don’t say that, Young Master Jiang. Your flowers could very well cure our sir. That’s not something that can be repaid with money. Sir said that you can make any request at any time, and we will do our best to fulfill it.”
Jiang Rui choked. He originally thought that asking Yang Feng for help with Wang Xiaorui’s matter was over-the-top, but if he were to ask Rong Jingting…
Jiang Rui awkwardly coughed. If his cultivation reached the Yuan Transformation stage, his spiritual consciousness could cover all of Qing City, and finding a person would be a matter of minutes. He wouldn’t be in such a difficult situation now. Thinking of this, he became more determined to practice diligently in the future.
“Actually… It’s like this. I’m a ninth-grade student at Ningping Town Middle School. There’s a classmate of mine named Wang Xiaorui. She hasn’t been to class for several days, and we can’t find anyone at her house, so…” Jiang Rui looked at the surprised expression on Uncle Cheng’s face and couldn’t continue.
“She’s at the Jiren Hospital in Qing City,” Rong Jingting said.
Jiang Rui was stunned.
Uncle Cheng said, “Please forgive us, Young Master Jiang. Just in case, we have investigated your information in the last few days, and some of it included your classmate’s information. Would you like to take a look?” Jiang Rui naturally knew that a person like Rong Jingting would not allow someone he didn’t know to be close to him. He used to investigate people’s backgrounds as well. It was just a little awkward to be the one being investigated this time.
Jiang Rui politely replied, “If it’s convenient.”
