Su Ning’s parents died young, leaving her older brother, twenty years her senior to raise her single-handedly until she was eighteen. When the family business went bankrupt overnight, her brother collapsed and fell into critical condition. On her way to the hospital, Su Ning overheard someone say, “If he hadn’t offended that man named Shen back then, it never would have come to this!”
After a sudden car accident, Su Ning opens her eyes to find herself back in time, during her brother’s senior year of high school. She discovers that he and the “school hunk,” Shen Yanli, are arch-rivals. To prevent her brother from being targeted in the future, Su Ning spends her time mediating between the two, trying to turn them into friends.
On the night of the college entrance exam after-party, she organizes a drinking session for them. To her surprise, she ends up kissing Shen Yanli while drunk! However, aside from a hearing impairment that requires a hearing aid, Shen Yanli is cold, elegant and beautiful Su Ning feels she hasn’t lost out on the deal. She continues to treat him well and works on repairing the relationship between the two boys.
It isn’t until the start of university that Su Ning realizes the person her brother actually offended was someone else entirely: a man named Shen Shuo. She had targeted the wrong person!
Since Shen Yanli had always been cold and distant toward her anyway, she immediately stops paying attention to him and shifts her focus to approaching Shen Shuo. She organizes another gathering to reconcile her brother and Shen Shuo.
Once again, Su Ning gets drunk. But when she wakes up, she finds herself locked in a basement.
The cold, beautiful young man slowly and methodically removes his hearing aid, a morbid obsession flickering in his eyes. “Ningning, how could you ever think of abandoning me?”
Only then does Su Ning finally connect Shen Yanli’s face with a man she had seen only once in her previous life: Shen Li, the most untouchable power player in the Beijing elite circles. He was a madman whom no one dared to provoke.
Su Ning: “…”
