- Transmigrated into the Zerg Race: Didn't We Agree to Call Off the Engagement?
- Chapter 5 - Unavoidable Trouble
“I permit you to become my male attendant.”
Mineral Star.
This was a deserted little planet on the way to the Central Star. It served primarily as a docking station for warships, and occasionally, individual travelers would stop here to resupply. On this uninhabited planet, only robot insects operated the supply stations. There were a few apartment buildings nearby for resting, and Sirius had been staying here for the past few days.
Normally, it should have been very quiet, but unexpectedly, it was unusually noisy. Sirius had only stayed here for three days, yet a total of twenty-one vessels had flown overhead one after another, all heading in the same direction. Even Julian, during their video calls, remained in a state of high tension, repeatedly probing to ask if Sirius had moved to a different planet.
His concern was not misplaced. Generally, those who landed on such a small planet mid-journey were usually traveling from distant galaxies, stopping here after a long trek to replenish the fuel consumed during long-distance jumps. For so many people to land on a deserted little planet at the same time was clearly abnormal. Julian naturally suspected that Sirius had changed locations.
Sirius looked up as a red starship streaked across the sky, slowly descending. Four or five people stepped out. Leading them was a young male with eye-catching pink hair and restless light blue eyes. With Sirius’s massive mental power, he could sense that this male’s mental strength was somewhat weak. He wondered if the newcomer was a defective, low-to-mid-grade male.
Sirius raised an eyebrow and turned to walk in the opposite direction. He felt that something bad was about to happen. For safety’s sake, it was best to stay far away.
There were three sightseeing vehicles prepared here. Since there were almost no people around, Sirius was the only one who had driven one away. He drove to the other side of the planet. This was a semi-abandoned wasteland. There was little vegetation, but there were many steep peaks and large pits left over from mining. Consequently, Sirius did not drive very fast. Although the vehicle could adapt to various terrains, including hills and cliffs, he had no need to rush.
Stepping onto the red soil, Sirius pulled a detector and a small shovel from the car and began his work for the day. Zerg technology was advanced, and with many people and resources, their welfare was extensive. Housing and education were free, and everything during the growth of both females and males was provided at no cost.
After reaching adulthood, work was not for the purpose of earning money. Instead, they earned something called contribution points. They could choose any job they liked to earn these points. No matter the job, even if one just wanted to lie around, as long as it was what they wanted, it was counted as a contribution.
Researching the development of the Zerg was Sirius’s personal hobby. After digging a few times, he found an oddly shaped stone. He held it up to the sun to examine its form, tossed it into the open-top vehicle, and continued searching for more. There was a decorative pocket on his work uniform that connected to a small four-dimensional space, but he instinctively did not want to put dirt-covered items in his pocket, even though the fabric was dust-proof.
As the sun rose higher, Sirius’s clothes maintained a comfortable temperature, but he inevitably began to feel hungry. He took out a tablecloth, spread it on the red sand, and used a food converter to make a few dishes. He picked up a piece of synthetic steak. Before he could even taste it, his sharp ears brought him some unpleasant news.
Sirius stood up immediately.
An unmanned sightseeing vehicle sped toward him, passing violently by his side. It was so fast that even though Sirius had sensed the anomaly in advance, he could not completely avoid it and was sprayed with sand. The anger in Sirius’s heart began to build. At the same time, another overcrowded sightseeing vehicle carrying four females chased after the first one. It looked as though it was heading straight for him again.
Sirius could no longer restrain himself. His powerful mental energy erupted instantly, spreading out an invisible barrier. The vehicle came to an immediate halt with its four wheels spinning uselessly, while the four people inside were thrown into the dirt, leaving four neat pits.
He had almost forgotten that the heads of females had the toughest shells. Even if used to strike a planet, they would only feel dizzy for a while. The four females quickly sat up, rubbing their heavy heads. Before they could grasp the situation, they saw a male standing over them with his arms crossed, looking down at them.
“Taking advantage of a situation is not a good habit,” Sirius said.
The leading female scrambled to her feet and bowed respectfully. “A thousand apologies, Your Excellency! We were executing a protection mission, but the male lord suddenly drove away to escape. The situation was urgent, and we unintentionally collided with you. We are willing to accept any punishment.”
Only males could use mental power, while females could only sense it. Since Sirius had used his mental power so obviously, they would have to be incompetent not to notice. It was also bad luck. They likely never imagined that a male would be traveling alone in a place like this, especially wearing a mining uniform.
Sirius patted his spotless clothes and slowly scanned the uniforms they were wearing. They were of a uniform style with the same logo, but they were not military. They were likely the private soldiers of some family. He had seen them this morning. If he remembered correctly, they were indeed accompanied by a defective male.
An escaping male, organized private soldiers, and a sudden influx of busy people made for a real mess. Sirius did not want to get involved in this business. He pointed to their vehicle, signaling them to leave quickly.
The four females exchanged glances, thanked him repeatedly, and ran back to their car. The barrier dissipated, and the sightseeing vehicle instantly sped off. As the wind and sand were blocked from his side, Sirius rubbed his aching head.
The horsepower of the sightseeing vehicle was too high, and Sirius had deployed the barrier instantly. Combined with the fact that he rarely used his power, even with mental strength greater than the average male, he could not avoid feeling a bit lightheaded. Although it was not serious, he was no longer in the mood to dig for stones and prepared to drive back. He turned around to see that the sightseeing vehicle had a wind-shielding effect and remained clean, so it was still usable.
Just as Sirius placed his hand on the handle, a highly arrogant voice came from behind him, getting closer and closer.
“Hey, you female over there, I have something to discuss with you! You now have a chance to rise to the top. As long as you are obedient, I will permit you to become my…”
Halfway through his sentence, the pink-haired male froze in place. His clear, deep blue eyes widened in disbelief as he muttered to himself.
“A male… a male attendant?”
By the end, his voice was a bit airy, but Sirius heard him clearly. He frowned, unable to believe what he was hearing.
“A male attendant?”
Sirius’s brow furrowed slightly. The pink-haired male suddenly blushed, lowered his head, and began awkwardly drawing circles on the ground with the tip of his shoe.
“If… if you perform well, it is not impossible for you to become the Female Monarch.” After saying this, as if afraid Sirius would become arrogant, he quickly added, “Of course, that is only if you perform well and make me happy.”
The male spoke with total confidence, looking up at Sirius. His face was covered in dust, and his clothes were of ordinary material. He looked dirty from head to toe, as if he had just crawled out of the dirt. Sirius did not react for a moment and kept his eyes on him. Those blue eyes, the cleanest part of his entire body, began to wander, occasionally stealing glances at Sirius but never quite daring to meet his gaze.
“Ahem, you do not need to worry too much. Seeing how much you are looking forward to this, I will not make things difficult for you. As long as you take me off this planet, I will reluctantly agree to let you compete for the position of my Female Monarch.”
Expectation? Reluctance? Competition? Sirius laughed inwardly. From the beginning until now, had he shown any sign of agreement? Since birth, Sirius had been marked as an S-rank male. No female or male had ever spoken to him like this.
A male attendant; it was impressive that this male could even say it. One could not tell if he was fearless out of ignorance or if he was simply incredibly bold. Sirius should not have dismissed those females so casually just to avoid trouble. If they had known this male was not in the car, this little pink-haired bug might have been captured.
“That is far too reluctant on your part. Compared to my own needs, I would much rather prioritize your feelings. I cannot do something that makes you feel reluctant!”
With that, Sirius immediately turned to pull the door open.
“Hey!” The pink-haired male reacted. “Do not be so rigid!”
The pink-haired male did not sense Sirius’s ill intent at all. With a look of extreme frustration, he lunged toward Sirius. Sirius closed the car door and started the engine. A second before the vehicle moved, the pink-haired male also lunged forward, landing right in Sirius’s arms. The car took off at that moment, traveling several kilometers. To leave the scene of the trouble as quickly as possible, Sirius had specifically driven at maximum speed.
He sighed and patted the pink-haired bug lingering on his lap. “All right, I will take you wherever you want to go. Can you get off me now?”
The male grunted and crawled forward, tossing the detector and other items Sirius had placed on the adjacent seat to the side. Sirius reached out and tucked them back into his pocket. The pink-haired male glanced at him, pulled his dangling legs into the vehicle, and moved his upper body to the passenger seat. However, his legs remained on Sirius, straddling him and pinning his legs firmly in the middle.
“You have a prior record. I cannot trust you.”
Sirius found it somewhat amusing. “What prior record do I have?”
“You tell me!” The pink-haired male was furious. “You actually tried to abandon me just now. You are truly hopeless and have no ambition at all. If I do not like you, then you should find a way to make me like you. How can you just run away? You were going to leave me here all alone. Is your head filled with leaves? Or are you just like a low-level insect that cannot think at all?”
The pink-haired male continued to chatter incessantly, but as Sirius watched his moving lips, he could no longer hear the sound. He was right; Sirius had indeed run away. It was very cowardly.
Sirius was a bit stunned, his gaze lingering on the corner of the male’s mouth. But the other male clearly did not know what Sirius was thinking. Seeing Sirius staring at him, he dodged uncomfortably.
“What… what are you looking at? Have you never seen a male before?”
