Transmigrated Into the Body of a Sickly Villain's Kitten - Chapter 2
Mount Wuqi is extremely high, perpetually shrouded in thick fog that rarely lifts to reveal itself to the world, making its location exceptionally difficult to find.
From the mountaintop villa down to the halfway point of the mountain, there stretches a long stone staircase paved with bluish stones. At noon, when sunlight pierces through the lush forest and lands on the treetops, the dewdrops shimmer with a radiant, multicolored glow.
In recent days, whenever Fu Rou woke up and beheld such a fairy-tale scene, her first thought wasn’t to admire it but to lament the brand-new mattress she had just bought not long ago.
That mattress was large and soft, and lying on it made Fu Rou feel her happiness soaring. Yet, before she could enjoy it for more than a few days, she found herself transported into this world, transformed into a cat.
Not only was she struggling to find enough food each day, but she was also being bullied by other white cats.
Why did life have to treat a little kitten like her so harshly?
When Fu Rou noticed the pearl wrapped in golden threads and tied around her ankle, she froze. A sudden suspicion surged in her heart. Just as she was about to leave the tree hollow to investigate, Brother Ping Tou quickly stepped on her tail, stopping her in her tracks.
Wincing in pain, Fu Rou halted. Brother Ping Tou hurriedly explained, “It’s dangerous outside! Usually, the only person who comes here is the master of Mount Wuqi. Every month, she arrives and throws some cats out of the barrier, leaving them to fend for themselves. If you were cast out of Mount Wuqi, survival would be incredibly tough. Don’t act recklessly!”
Alright, staying alive was more important than satisfying her curiosity.
But that pearl… wasn’t it exactly like the one described in the comics and novels she had read? Plump, perfectly round, and gleaming with a golden radiance?
Could it be that she hadn’t just traveled through time ordinarily, but had been transported into a book?
The woman stood outside the tree for a long time. Fu Rou and Brother Ping Tou had no idea what she was doing and could only wait quietly, not even daring to breathe loudly.
After about half an hour, the woman finally left.
Barefoot, with deep blue gossamer draping down to her feet, she walked without a speck of dirt clinging to her. Her feet alone looked pristine and lovely.
Hearing the footsteps fade into the distance, Brother Ping Tou cautiously peeked out. Once he confirmed the woman was gone, he led Fu Rou to the stream to forage for food.
On the way, Fu Rou couldn’t resist asking, “Brother Ping Tou, do you know the name of this mountain’s master?”
Brother Ping Tou gave her a strange look and shook his head. “No, I don’t.”
Fu Rou didn’t press further. However, as they slowly approached the stream, they encountered a group of cats even larger than the one they had seen the day before.
The back mountain of Wuqi was abundant with spiritual flowers and rare herbs. The cats, originally hidden, emerged one by one upon spotting Fu Rou and Brother Ping Tou. They stood in circles, eyeing the pair with a predatory gleam.
The cats had been waiting here for a long time.
After arriving at Mount Wuqi, they had gradually gained spiritual awareness. Relying on the mountain’s spiritual energy, they cultivated slowly, growing more perceptive and believing themselves superior to ordinary cats. Banding together, they began to bully the common cats in the back mountain, forcing them to do hard labor and search for food while they reaped the benefits without effort.
Brother Ping Tou was a tough one. When Fu Rou first met him, he introduced himself, “Just call me Brother Ping Tou. Stick with me, and you’ll never go hungry.”
Fu Rou had initially thought Brother Ping Tou was a big shot who enjoyed gathering followers. But later, when a few white cats came to pick fights, he usually just threw a punch their way, never showing any interest in expanding his influence by recruiting more lackeys.
Brother Ping Tou’s claws were long and sharp, and by now, he had already scratched the faces of quite a few cats.
It seemed that the group of white cats had found their allies and had come together seeking revenge.
Yesterday, there were simply too many cats. Brother Ping Tou, fighting alone and with a kitten by his side, had no choice but to be cautious. That was why Fu Rou’s meow had truly been the last resort.
But today…
Fu Rou quickly counted at least twenty cats surrounding them.
Besides the white cats, there were others with small black or orange patches on their tails or bodies, just like Brother Ping Tou. These cats were all large in size, likely having survived in Wuqi Mountain for many years.
Fu Rou’s intuition was always strong, and she felt that today would undoubtedly be a fierce battle. She whispered, “Brother Ping Tou, do you think meowing will still work now?”
Brother Ping Tou’s expression was grave. “There are several cats here who have lived in Wuqi Mountain for many years, filled with spiritual energy. You’re only about a month old, only the cats who haven’t cultivated for long would fear you.”
“Why would they be afraid of me?”
“This isn’t the time to explain. If a fight breaks out later, I’ll clear a path for you. Run as fast as you can. If you’re even a little slow, you’ll be trampled into a pancake. Get back to that tree hollow, understand?!”
“What about you? What will you do?”
“I’ll run after you! Don’t worry, I’ve been around for so many years, I definitely know how to escape.”
Fu Rou felt both touched and sorrowful. She didn’t understand why Brother Ping Tou was so protective of her, but she would remember this kindness, letting her escape first in such a dangerous situation.
The leading white cat was quite beautiful, with golden eyes. Upon seeing Fu Rou, it smiled and said, “You really are a little beauty, just as the rumors say. A round face, soft ears, a pink nose, and blue eyes, truly exquisite. Your master must have spent a fortune to breed someone with your looks, right?”
Huh? What was it talking about?
A cat with orange patches beside it chimed in, “So what if she was bred? A mixed-breed like her can’t possibly be healthy. Let’s just stomp on her a few times and see if she survives!”
Fu Rou finally understood.
So, these cats were all substitutes, and she was the prettier substitute. They were afraid she might be chosen by the master of Wuqi Mountain, or perhaps they were simply jealous of her beauty. Was that why all this was happening?
So, she had really dragged Brother Ping Tou into this.
Who would have thought that even beauty could be a crime?
Though Fu Rou was small, her mental age was surely older than these cats, right? In such a situation, she couldn’t just cower, she had to fight for a chance to survive.
She stepped out from beside Brother Ping Tou, lifted her head, and declared, “Even if you’re going to trample me, can you at least give me a reason? What grudge do you have against me?”
“She actually has some courage, that’s rare. Your bodyguard here has been protecting you all along, attacking cats who have done nothing to you. Isn’t that reason enough?”
“I don’t understand that logic. They provoked us first, and we defended ourselves. If that counts as a grudge, isn’t that just unreasonable? You outnumber us, bullying the two of us, and now you want to trample me to death. Don’t you feel the slightest bit ashamed?”
Fu Rou’s little mouth was chattering away at an incredible speed. To an observer, she would look like a tiny kitten meowing incessantly, appearing somewhat fierce, but giving off the strongest impression of being utterly adorable and endearing.
Some of the nearby cats, unable to withstand the spiritual pressure emanating from Fu Rou, had already taken a few steps back. The golden-eyed white cat at the forefront narrowed its eyes slightly, as if scrutinizing the little kitten before it.
Setting aside how much this kitten resembled the one from the rumors, the fact that she was already brimming with so much spiritual energy and possessed such a powerful spiritual awareness at just one month old was astonishing. Even ordinary cats were afraid of her, could she truly be the reincarnation of the Cloud Mystery Immortal Lord?
But given the current situation, leaving just like that was out of the question.
With an outsider cat intruding upon their long-inhabited back mountain, a fight to establish dominance was inevitable.
“Since you’re newcomers, we don’t want to cause trouble. But if you want to survive here, you have to understand the rules. Surely you know that, right?”
Fu Rou could see it clearly now, this group of cats was just looking for excuses to turn her and Brother Ping Tou into free labor, to be ordered around at their whim. She absolutely despised this kind of clique behavior!
Back in middle school, she had been bullied by a group of mean girls just because she preferred to keep to herself. Although she had eventually resolved the issue with a fight, and those girls even tried to acknowledge her as their leader, Fu Rou wasn’t the type to bully the weak. Even after gaining a reputation, she continued going to and from school alone, only now, few dared to provoke her.
Back then, Fu Rou could rely on brute force to battle those girls, but now, at just one month old, there was no way she could defeat this group of cats.
Brother Ping Tou’s tail was already lashing back and forth, and his ears had flattened into “airplane ears.”
This was the calm before the storm.
If a fight was inevitable, then so be it. Even if they complied, they would only be bullied. Better to settle it with a fight.
Fu Rou had nothing more to say. The golden-eyed white cat, seeing that neither Fu Rou nor Brother Ping Tou responded, began to feel somewhat awkward.
The calico cat beside it spoke up: “Enough talk! Today, we’ll teach these two ignorant ones what the rules are!”
No sooner had the words been spoken than some of the other cats, as if spurred on, prepared to charge forward and start the fight. But halfway through their dash, they found themselves slowly floating into the air.
Witnessing the sudden change, Fu Rou’s eyes widened in shock.
Bubbles had gradually enveloped the cats charging toward her. They were running on the surface of the bubbles, but it looked as if they were merely treading in place.
In fact, aside from Fu Rou and Brother Ping Tou, who remained standing on solid ground, all the other cats were trapped inside bubbles.
Just then, Fu Rou heard footsteps behind her. As she turned around, a woman’s voice rang out: “You’ve been staying on my Wuqi Mountain for so many years. Have you had enough fun?”
The voice was exquisite, carrying a trace of detached coolness.
Fu Rou looked up at the woman, who towered over her. From this angle, the first thing that caught her eye was the pair of long, fair legs, partially veiled by a light gauze, appearing and disappearing tantalizingly.
Her calves were slender and straight, without an ounce of excess fat, and her feet were delicate and elegant, like smooth, flawless jade.
Wow, my wife is so hot! Hnnngh!
What could be more shocking than seeing a character from a novel or comic appear in real life?
Fu Rou continued to gaze upward, admiring the woman’s perfectly curvaceous figure, barely suppressing the urge to let drool escape the corner of her mouth. Her eyes finally settled on the blue silk cloth covering the woman’s eyes.
What was going on?
Why was there a cloth wrapped around her eyes? Was she injured?
The woman paid no attention to Fu Rou’s stare. She raised her hand and gently grasped at the air, as if drawing out a wisp of golden substance from the bodies of the cats. The substance drifted slowly toward the woman, merging into her fingertips before vanishing completely.
“The spiritual energy you’ve absorbed over the years in Wuqi Mountain has been reclaimed by me. I will send you out of the mountain and place a restriction on you. From now on, if you dare set foot in Wuqi Mountain again, you will suffer excruciating pain and bleed to death. If you’re not afraid, feel free to try.”
The bubbles carrying the floating cats drifted slowly into the distance, heading in the direction of the foot of the mountain.
Brother Ping Tou stared at the seemingly harmless woman before him, sensing only a terrifying aura of intimidation. Just as he was about to pull Fu Rou away, he found himself, like the cats before him, suspended in mid-air.
He, too, was enveloped in a bubble.
Fu Rou’s small pink paws pressed against the bubble as she looked at the woman with a bewildered expression.
Even from this elevated angle, her “wife” was stunningly beautiful, her features were flawless, and that tiny red mole was simply too captivating!
The woman gently raised her hand, and Fu Rou’s bubble drifted over, suddenly popping. Fu Rou landed in the woman’s palm and was gently held.
Feeling that something was amiss, Fu Rou quickly asked, “Brother Ping Tou! What’s going on?!”
Brother Ping Tou wore an expression of reluctant resignation. “You’ve been chosen.”
Fu Rou panicked. Although she liked beautiful women, she had no desire to be a substitute. Her four paws began to struggle in the woman’s grasp. “Chosen?! Me? Am I going to become the third party wedging between the villain and the cat? No way, absolutely not! I’m not malicious, why should I play the role of a supporting female character?”
The woman suddenly turned to Brother Ping Tou and asked, “What did she say to you?”
Brother Ping Tou fell silent, his gaze toward Fu Rou filled with even more reluctance and pity.
He meowed a few times, and Fu Rou understood he was speaking to her in the language of cats. “She can understand what I say, but she can’t understand you. Go with her. At least by her side, you won’t have to endure hardship and exposure.”
Hearing the little cat in her palm crying out pitifully, the woman paused.
“I’ll send him to Crescent Moon Pond. He won’t have to worry about food or drink. Be good and come with me quietly. If you keep making a fuss, I’ll drive him away too.”
Wow, this was truly the speech of an unapologetic villain.
Fu Rou whimpered and stopped crying, her little cat ears drooping, looking utterly dejected.
The woman tapped her toes lightly and soared into the air. Fu Rou watched the shifting scenery before her but had no heart to appreciate it.
What should she do? If the real cat returned to Shi Yao’s side, what would become of her, the substitute?
