Transmigrated Into a Scummy Alpha Who Stole the Male Lead's Mermaid Fiancée - Chapter 3
Being an Alpha for the first time, Yu Ke had no prior experience to draw from and could only rely on her instincts, pushing forward with determination.
Like suppressants, temporary marking could help alleviate the distress of an Omega’s heat, though it typically occurred between unmarried lovers. The effects of the mark would last approximately 24 to 72 hours.
Yu Ke gently kissed Lan Xing’s neck, her teeth grazing the gland nearby. Breathing in the scent of her pheromones, she wrapped her arms around Lan Xing’s waist, softly stroking the skin along her lower back and sides, savoring the unique softness and grace that belonged only to a mermaid.
An Omega’s gland resembled a budding flower, hidden near the back of the neck close to the left shoulder. Its position was discreet, usually unnoticeable and not affecting daily life, only revealing its color during special times.
At first glance, this beautiful bud looked like a tattoo or watermark, harmless and superficial. Yet, in reality, it was this very thing that, like a raging beast, drove people to do the unimaginable.
Yu Ke bared the sharp fangs that only appeared during her special period and carefully approached, cautiously piercing the gland. Like a small creature drawn to nectar, she reveled in the intoxicating sweetness of the moment.
Noticing the little princess stiffen slightly, Yu Ke deliberately slowed her movements, pausing to stroke her face and ask with concern, “How are you feeling?”
Lan Xing’s delicate eyebrows were tightly furrowed. She took a sharp breath, nodded, and forced a smile. “I feel much better…”
A slight smile tugged at Yu Ke’s lips as she released Lan Xing with satisfaction. But her smile faded when her peripheral vision caught sight of the suppressant she had handed to Lan Xing earlier, now discarded.
Lan Xing noticed her gaze and explained, “I trust that you wouldn’t harm me…”
“Why would you trust me?” Yu Ke retorted.
Sensing her displeasure, Lan Xing frowned slightly, her tone still gentle. “You didn’t take advantage of me. I believe you’re a good person. Besides, I was the one who begged you to mark me…”
Yu Ke’s emotions were complicated. She moved away from Lan Xing, turning her back as she murmured, “Trusting others so easily isn’t a good habit, dear Princess.”
After all, if it had been the original scoundrel in her place, the little princess would have been utterly consumed.
As Lan Xing gradually calmed, she lay on the floor, pulling a blanket over herself. She turned her head to look at Yu Ke, her blue eyes as clear as the sea under a sunny sky, shimmering with pure light. After a moment, she whispered, “Your Highness.”
Yu Ke had turned on the air conditioner for ventilation and found an incense burner, lighting some incense to disperse the lingering scent in the room. Hearing Lan Xing call her, she turned back and replied calmly, “What is it?”
Lan Xing blinked slowly, her gaze tinged with a mix of innocence, kindness, and a hint of shyness. In a soft, gentle voice, she asked, “Why… am I in Your Highness’s room?”
That… was truly a soul-searching question.
Yu Ke’s expression remained unchanged as she countered, “Don’t you remember?”
Lan Xing shook her head uncertainly. “I remember… Prince escorted me back. But how did I end up here…”
“When I found you, you didn’t seem fully aware,” Yu Ke averted her gaze, clearing her throat lightly as she tried to shift the focus. “But don’t worry, no one knows you’re here with me.”
Sure enough, those words eased Lan Xing’s tension, and she no longer dwelled on why she had run into Yu Ke. She sat up, her mermaid tail still not fully restored, which greatly limited her movements. With a pitiful expression, she said to Yu Ke, “Your Highness, may I borrow your room again?”
“Of course,” Yu Ke replied, moving from the bedside toward the bathroom to put as much distance as possible between herself and Lan Xing, giving her space.
Having just transmigrated, Yu Ke felt no familiarity with the room, nor was she accustomed to the identity of “Princess,” let alone the concept of being a “dominant Alpha.”
Yu Ke washed her face, lit a cigarette, and then checked the original owner’s phone, browsing through her social media accounts, asset accounts, and the like.
Just then, the doorbell rang from outside.
Yu Ke put down her phone and went out to ask Lan Xing, “Did you call someone?”
Lan Xing widened her eyes and shook her head nervously.
“No one can know you’re here!” Yu Ke sniffed the air, the scent of pheromones still lingered, clashing sharply with the warm fragrance from the incense burner.
She walked over to Lan Xing, bent down, and picked her up.
Surprisingly, she could lift Princess Lan Xing with ease, though her dragging tail was tricky to manage. Yu Ke hid her entirely inside the wardrobe, closed the door, and then went to the entrance, peering through the peephole at the person outside.
It was a beautiful woman with a short bob haircut, calmly pressing the doorbell.
After the bell rang three times, Yu Ke spoke from inside, “What is it?”
“Princess, so you are inside,” the woman smiled at her, her fiery red lips curving upward. “You didn’t give the signal for so long, I was worried something had happened.”
Yu Ke opened the door, leaving a gap about two fists wide, and frowned as she looked at the woman through the crack. “What signal?”
“Prin… Princess?” The woman’s lips parted in astonishment, her eyes scanning Yu Ke up and down. “You haven’t even changed your clothes. Are you… not finished yet?”
Yu Ke: “…”
It seemed this woman was the lackey who had helped the original owner carry out her plans.
The original owner had managed to frame Prince Yu Jie and usurp the position of Crown Princess with the help of a capable assistant, just like the one before her now. Sharp and clever, the woman’s dark, gleaming eyes shifted as she took the initiative to say, “I’ll come back in twenty minutes. Please finish your business first.”
“I’m not busy,” Yu Ke stopped her. “There’s no need for you to come back.”
“Why?” The bob-haired woman leaned forward, trying to squeeze into the room for a closer look. Fortunately, Yu Ke had only opened the door a crack, and as an Alpha, she had the natural physical advantage. With a single outstretched arm, she blocked the woman outside.
“I still need to help you escort Princess Lan Xing back to Prince Yu Jie’s room,” the woman frowned, her sharp, straight eyebrows furrowing. “Otherwise, how will this matter conclude?!”
“No need,” Yu Ke said calmly. “Princess Lan Xing can return on her own.”
The woman’s eyes widened in disbelief as she stared at Yu Ke, blurting out, “You’ve ruined the entire plan!”
“I’m sorry.” Faced with such an intelligent subordinate, Yu Ke had to be extremely cautious. She spoke sparingly, “I have my considerations.”
The woman remained indignant. She leaned closer to Yu Ke, lowering her voice, “Princess, think of all the effort we’ve put in over the past two months. We can’t let it all go to waste now.”
After these words were spoken, Yu Ke heard a faint noise coming from the direction of the wardrobe in the room. She couldn’t tell whether it was the little princess making an unintentional sound or if she had been startled.
Mermaids, capable of surviving long-term in the depths of the sea, likely possessed far more acute vision and hearing than humans.
On one hand, there was the doubt from her hardworking subordinate; on the other, the trust of Princess Lan Xing was wavering. It seemed that no matter what Yu Ke said, she was destined to lose one of them.
Worse still, she couldn’t please either side. Once the crime was exposed, she would have to bear the punishment meant for the original owner.
Was this the result of playing the hero and trying to be a good person?
Yu Ke moistened her throat, parted her lips, and spoke in that seductive, deep voice of hers: “The truth is, I’ve realized I love her. I cannot do anything to harm her.”
The bob-haired woman’s face turned pale. She stared at Yu Ke in disbelief, took a step back, and murmured, “Your Highness…”
