Transmigrated into a Scummy Alpha, Marked Intentionally by a Gentle Omega - Chapter 6
Hua Zhi crouched in the corner, her hands covering her face.
She had kissed her savior.
Xie Shimian’s lips were so soft, so sweet—far more delicious than she had imagined.
It was as if she were a penitent, desperately pleading before a deity, and had finally received divine mercy.
Trembling, Hua Zhi touched her own lips with her fingers.
Rounding it off, it was almost like she had touched Xie Shimian’s lips with her hand.
She had been too reckless, too audacious.
The little cat shivered, curling into a tight ball, still wearing the moon-white fishtail qipao Xie Shimian had complimented.
“Hey, did you see that? That new girl has no sense of propriety.”
“Of course I did. She just arrived at the manor yesterday and couldn’t wait to climb into the young miss’s bed.”
“If Madam and the master find out, they’ll surely break her legs.”
“I’ve never seen the young miss be so indulgent with anyone before.”
The maids’ voices drifted in faintly from outside the door.
Like a cat, Hua Zhi wiped the tears from her sapphire-blue eyes and clutched the collar of her dress tightly.
She was the only one!
Her savior had never been so lenient with anyone else as she was with her!
Cats were naturally timid creatures, always testing the boundaries of their owner’s patience.
“Young Miss, you’ve already wiped your lips eight times. They’re about to bleed.”
Xie Shimian tossed the disinfectant wipe aside. In the mirror, her lips looked swollen and overly red from the repeated scrubbing.
As if they had just been ravaged by a passionate kiss.
Xie Shimian: “…”
Her over-twenty-year streak of singlehood.
Had just vanished with a snap.
Xie Shimian touched her burning lips, feeling as though an eternity had passed in a single moment.
Ke Rong: “Hua Zhi is timid and well-behaved. If her background checks out, keeping her by your side wouldn’t be a bad idea.”
Xie Shimian: “That’s not appropriate.”
Ke Rong: “Does the young miss dislike her?”
Xie Shimian covered her face: “I adore her.”
Xie Shimian spotted a little cat head peeking out from the doorway not far away. “Come out.”
Hua Zhi shivered, then slowly stepped forward, clutching her skirt. She handed the qipao she had changed out of to the designer with both hands.
“Miss Xie, I’m sorry.”
Hua Zhi stood stiffly in front of Xie Shimian, fidgeting nervously.
Xie Shimian kept a stern face, but her unusually flushed lips made her look anything but angry instead, there was an inexplicable allure about her.
Hua Zhi’s throat bobbed.
Xie Shimian: “…”
Her big boss was looking at her like she was a dish on a menu.
One shouldn’t scold a wife or discipline a child in front of others. Xie Shimian cleared her throat twice and turned to discuss dress designs with the designer.
Hua Zhi stood there like a punished child for over half an hour before the designer and the others finally left.
From afar, she overheard the designer whispering to Ke Rong.
Designer: “Who was that young lady trying on the clothes?”
Ke Rong: “The young miss’s child bride.”
Designer: “Oh, I see, Wait! The Xie family still upholds such feudalistic nonsense? How utterly, delightful!”
Ke Rong winked: “Of course. Hua Zhi is very favored. Last night, she kept the young miss up all night, and this morning, they overslept by more than an hour.”
Designer: “Such a thing actually happened?!”
Ke Rong: “Would I lie? I saw it with my own eyes.”
Hua Zhi: “…”
Xie Shimian: “…”
And so, rumors were born.
Xie Shimian watched as Ke Rong obediently walked back in. “The designer said she’ll personally take your measurements next week.”
Xie Shimian rubbed her temples in exasperation and waved her assistant away to investigate the assassination attempt by the global AI manufacturer.
In the luxurious reception hall of the manor.
Xie Shimian tapped her fingers lightly against the rim of her teacup.
“Do you know what you did wrong?”
Seated high above, Xie Shimian looked down with a cold, unsmiling expression that was intimidating. Her strikingly beautiful features did nothing to soften the icy aura instead, they only intensified it.
She was angry.
Hua Zhi’s small face instantly paled, tears welling up in her sapphire-blue eyes. “Miss Xie.”
She didn’t know what she had done wrong.
Or rather, she had done too many wrong things, she wasn’t sure which one her benefactor was referring to.
Had Xie Shimian discovered her background and deemed her unworthy, a potential threat to the Xie family?
Or had she uncovered the secret desires hidden in Hua Zhi’s heart?
As long as she could stay by Xie Shimian’s side, Hua Zhi was willing to do anything.
Xie Shimian’s fingers tapped against the teacup, producing a sharp, rhythmic clinking sound like a death knell.
“Zhi Zhi, the Xie family took you in for many reasons,” Xie Shimian’s voice wasn’t as harsh as her expression.
“It wasn’t for my own selfish desires, nor was it because of your personal feelings.”
She tried to phrase it as gently as possible.
In truth, it wouldn’t have mattered who they adopted.
It just happened to be Hua Zhi.
Hearing this, Hua Zhi’s expression flickered. She moved closer to Xie Shimian and knelt on the plush carpet, placing her hands on Xie Shimian’s knees.
The gesture was identical to that of a kitten seeking affection.
Xie Shimian pressed her lips together. “That kiss earlier, and last night when you came to my room. I can pretend none of it ever happened.”
Hua Zhi’s blood ran cold. She stared at Xie Shimian in disbelief.
Did her benefactor not like her?
Seeing the wounded look on her face, Xie Shimian’s heart softened slightly. She reached out and gently stroked Hua Zhi’s overly fluffy head.
“With me, you don’t need to please anyone to live comfortably. You have dignity as a human being.”
Before transmigrating, Xie Shimian had read fragments of the novel and knew the kind of pitiful, humiliating life Hua Zhi had once led surviving by catering to those in power, living like an object.
As a person, one should aspire to a better life.
Not strive to become a more convenient tool.
Hua Zhi clutched Xie Shimian’s knees tightly, pressing her cheek against her leg.
A single tear rolled down, dampening a small patch of Xie Shimian’s skin.
The kitten-like girl cried bitterly, her wide eyes fixed on Xie Shimian.
Xie Shimian’s voice remained as gentle as ever. “Though the Barren Star is remote, it’s a crucial part of the Empire’s territory. Rich in minerals, it fuels the Empire’s development. A storm left it in ruins, and the Empire has a duty to extend aid. You’re not some ‘country bumpkin’ as the maids call you.”
She wiped away the tears on Hua Zhi’s small face. “You’re no less than anyone else. There’s no such thing as inherent superiority or inferiority among people.”
For the first time in her life, Hua Zhi heard someone tell her, “There’s no such thing as inherent superiority or inferiority among people.”
Xie Shimian pulled her up from the floor. “Don’t cry. If you ruin your eyes, you won’t be as pretty anymore.”
Hua Zhi sniffled. “But the Empire has nobles, and powerful merchants.”
These people were born nobler than others.
Xie Shimian thought of the original plot and closed her eyes briefly. “Then replace them. If you’re strong enough, you can redefine the rules.”
Hang the merchants who exploit flesh and blood from the streetlamps.
Drive the nobles into the fields.
The underlying message Hua Zhi heard was, “If you’re strong enough.” then you can casually kiss your benefactor? You can cling to her whenever you want?
The naive girl nodded in confusion. Xie Shimian’s words touched upon things she had never considered before.
The cat in her arms had smeared tears and snot all over Xie Shimian’s clothes. She pushed the girl away.
“You’re filthy. Go clean yourself up.”
She realized the big boss wasn’t as terrifying as the original story made her out to be. Right now, she was just a clueless little kid who knew nothing about the world.
But then, that very night Xie Shimian walked barefoot back to her bedroom, failing to notice the suspicious lump at the edge of her bed.
She lifted the blanket, yawned, and crawled in.
In the pitch-black darkness, a pair of eyes suddenly peeked out from under the covers.
Xie Shimian jolted awake. “Hua Zhi!”
Had all her lecturing during the day gone to waste?!
Hua Zhi wrapped her arms around Xie Shimian under the blanket. “Miss Xie doesn’t dislike me.”
Xie Shimian’s pushing hand froze. Dislike? Far from it, she was practically tailor-made to hit every one of Xie Shimian’s preferences.
Seizing the hesitation, Hua Zhi’s coquettish voice grew even softer.
“I made new pajamas today. I wanted to show Miss Xie.”
Everything she had belonged to her benefactor.
Xie Shimian delivered a triple rejection: “Get out. No. I won’t look.”
Hua Zhi nuzzled against her. “Miss Xie’s body is cold. I can warm you up.”
Xie Shimian pressed the back of her hand to her forehead, on the verge of tears. “Hua Zhi, did your teacher ever teach you?”
Hua Zhi: ?
Xie Shimian: “No early dating.”
