Transmigrated into a Scummy Alpha, Marked Intentionally by a Gentle Omega - Chapter 5
In the end, Xie Shimian still turned on the light.
Measuring someone’s body in pitch darkness, no matter how you thought about it just didn’t seem proper.
Under the soft glow of a lotus-shaped nightlight carved from glass, Xie Shimian pressed the measuring tape inch by inch against Hua Zhi’s slender frame.
The little cat whimpered twice.
Her savior only wanted to measure her body and did nothing else…
How cruel. How strange.
She had already hinted so blatantly, why did Xie Shimian have no reaction at all?
Was she really an Alpha?
Xie Shimian noticed her hesitation. “What?”
The cat knelt on the bed, her delicate form wrapped in silk pajamas.
Hua Zhi: “Do you have some kind of hidden ailment?”
Xie Shimian neatly rolled up the tape and jotted down the measurements on a sticky note. Suddenly, her hand jerked, leaving an abrupt ink stain on the paper.
Xie Shimian: “…”
Hua Zhi, seeing her silence, asked, “Can it be cured?”
A vein throbbed visibly on Xie Shimian’s forehead. “I don’t have a hidden ailment! You climbed into my bed at such a young age just to talk to me about hidden ailments?”
Since when did the big boss become so good at slandering others?
Hua Zhi bit her lower lip and curled up at the edge of the bed.
Xie Shimian’s bed was large enough to accommodate many Alphas and Omegas fooling around, but Hua Zhi occupied only a tiny corner, one wrong move and she’d tumble off.
Seeing the pitiful kitten-like expression, Xie Shimian’s anger dissipated by half.
No matter how desperate she was, she would never entertain such thoughts about a child.
She was a good girl raised under the red flag, after all.
Xie Shimian rasped, “Get back to your own room.”
Hua Zhi shrank even further, minimizing her presence.
“I’m scared.”
Her voice was barely a whisper. “If Miss Xie finds me annoying, you can kick me off. Just a carpet is enough for me to make do tonight.”
Under the nightlight, the fragile beauty clutched a corner of Xie Shimian’s nightgown.
“My parents are dead. My clan is dead. My friends are dead. The wasteland planet is covered in blood. Every time I close my eyes, all I see are the severed limbs after the storm. If not for Miss Xie, I might have starved in an orphanage or been bought by some merchant with twisted tastes.”
Never in her dreams had she imagined she’d sleep in a warm bed, having her body measured without any ulterior motives.
The girl’s voice was so soft, as if she truly couldn’t sleep from fear.
Xie Shimian guiltily gripped the blanket.
She was terrible, truly.
She’d forgotten that Hua Zhi was just a helpless little orphan who had barely survived a brush with death.
Xie Shimian’s tone was stiff. “Move to the middle. Don’t fall off.”
She turned off the light and, with a long arm, scooped the little cat into her embrace.
Her movements were practiced, as if she had held this cat countless times in the dark, the motion ingrained in muscle memory.
Before transmigrating into this novel, she had slept with her Ragdoll cat almost every night.
Hua Zhi was suddenly enveloped in a warm embrace, her pupils dilating in shock.
“Miss Xie…”
“Shut up and sleep.”
Xie Shimian ruffled her soft, fluffy hair, which carried the same scent as her own shampoo.
Hua Zhi couldn’t believe her savior had actually allowed her to share the bed.
“Goodnight, Miss Xie.”
“Goodnight.”
Hua Zhi thought she’d be too excited to sleep, but the moment she was wrapped in the comforting scent of the pheromones she adored, exhaustion took over, and she plunged into deep slumber within seconds.
She had met a merciful god.
“You didn’t sleep at all last night?!” Ke Rong placed breakfast in front of Xie Shimian.
Xie Shimian pressed her temple with her middle finger, “I slept a little.”
She made a pinching gesture with her thumb and forefinger.
Slept, but not really.
Hua Zhi was too restless. Her body temperature was high, and Xie Shimian woke up from the heat, pushing her away, only for Hua Zhi to cling back within seconds.
Like a clingy cat unaware it’s no longer a kitten, she sprawled her entire body over Xie Shimian’s chest.
Ke Rong watched as Hua Zhi, rubbing her eyes, walked into the dining room, casting a complicated glance at her.
The small girl was disheveled, with sleep marks on her face and an air of lazy satisfaction from a good night’s rest.
Ke Rong’s expression darkened instantly. “Hua Zhi slept with Miss Xie last night. On her very first night here, she’s already so unrestrained and ill-mannered. Knowing full well Miss Xie isn’t in good health, yet she still clings relentlessly.”
Just look at their young mistress, dark circles under her eyes.
Xie Shimian, halfway through her milk, suddenly burst into a violent coughing fit.
Cough, cough, cough!
Hua Zhi jerked her head up, staring pitifully in Xie Shimian’s direction.
Her blue, doll-like eyes instantly welled up with tears. She had never slept with anyone before and didn’t know how her sleeping habits were.
She must have disturbed her savior last night.
Biting her lip, Hua Zhi didn’t refute.
A secret anticipation rose in her heart, she wanted others to misunderstand.
Xie Shimian felt half-dead inside. “Hua Zhi, last night, we didn’t—”
Hua Zhi turned her head away. “I’m sorry, I fell asleep early, I didn’t know.”
As she brushed her hair aside, Hua Zhi inadvertently revealed a faint red mark on her slender waist, accidentally left by Xie Shimian.
Ke Rong gasped sharply.
Where did this vixen come from? Begone, begone, begone!
Xie Shimian’s heart turned to ashes. “How much do I weigh?”
Ke Rong gave a very light number. “Why the sudden question about weight, Miss?”
Xie Shimian replied weakly, “With such a light frame, I shouldn’t have to bear such a heavy blame.”
Ke Rong: ?
In the lavish dining room of the mansion.
The master and mistress had left early for a meeting, leaving the table laden with dishes for Xie Shimian alone.
In this interstellar era, the variety of cuisine had drastically declined, replaced by nutrient packs.
Only old aristocratic families still insisted on elaborate meals.
Xie Shimian took a sip of the porridge-like soup and grimaced.
This so-called extravagance wasn’t worth it.
“Savior.”
Hua Zhi stood beside the dining table, not daring to sit, one hand pressed against her growling stomach.
Growl, growl, growl.
Xie Shimian set down her silver spoon. “Hungry?”
Hua Zhi flushed with embarrassment. “If there are any leftovers in the kitchen, I’ll just have a simple bite.”
She had done nothing to please her savior last night and had even made ambiguous remarks this morning.
She didn’t deserve breakfast.
Under a stricter master, forget a room, she’d be lucky to get a tattered rug to sleep on.
Before Ke Rong could speak, Xie Shimian frowned. “Sit down and eat. The Xie family won’t starve you.”
Hua Zhi looked up at her in disbelief before being pulled by Ke Rong to sit on the chair beside Xie Shimian.
Eating at the table, Hua Zhi couldn’t remember the last time she had openly dined like this.
She was the family’s most disgraceful secret, an illegitimate daughter. Her mother had once been a struggling street artist, forced to accept patronage from a local tycoon just to survive, becoming his kept mistress.
Her mother was wholly absorbed in painting, paying her no attention. Once, just to get the lowest-grade nutrient solution, she had been forced by her so-called legitimate siblings to dive into an icy lake in the dead of winter to retrieve a toy.
Now, the table was laden with dishes that even those so-called legitimate children had never had the chance to enjoy.
Xie Shimian said, “Eat up. You’re still growing.”
Hua Zhi scooped the paste from the silver plate with a spoon, shoveling it into her mouth with desperate urgency, eating and crying at the same time.
“No one’s going to take it from you. Slow down.”
Xie Shimian had lost interest in the food before her. That morning, she had asked the butler for a cup of coffee.
The butler frowned. “Coffee is too bitter. It’s not suitable for consumption.”
Xie Shimian felt her soul leave her body. “A corporate slave’s life is even more bitter than coffee.”
The butler: “…” Please stop talking nonsense.
Hua Zhi had nearly devoured all the food on the table, stroking her round belly as she let out a satisfied burp.
She immediately covered her mouth such behavior was too impolite. Her savior wouldn’t like it.
The food she treasured like a priceless gem held no appeal in her savior’s eyes. Clearly, Xie Shimian was already accustomed to such luxuries.
At noon, Ke Rong arrived at the manor with a group of royal tailors, carefully opening a box to reveal an array of exquisite qipaos and Western-style dresses.
Xie Shimian lounged in a soft chair, flipping through reports from her business partners on her smart device. “Go try them on.”
The cat dozing on her lap pricked up its ears.
“Savior?”
Xie Shimian couldn’t help but laugh, ruffling the cat’s hair.
“Don’t call me ‘savior.’ My name is Xie Shimian. There’s no need for formality between us.”
(Just don’t kill me later, please.)
Hua Zhi shook her head like a rattle drum. “Savior is savior, and mistress is mistress. I can’t address you so casually.”
In her former family, a single misspoken word would earn her a slap.
Under the gaze of those pure, unblemished blue eyes, Xie Shimian’s ears flushed red. She quickly changed the subject.
“Go try on the clothes.”
Hua Zhi had a good figure slender but not skeletal, with enough curves to fill out both the qipao and the Western dresses beautifully.
Every time she changed into a new outfit, Xie Shimian noticed the cat-girl would return with damp eyes, seeking her approval.
A doll-like cat-girl.
Xie Shimian’s preferences stirred restlessly.
Hua Zhi spun in front of her in a moon-white fishtail qipao, her fingers trembling as they brushed against the luxurious fabric, something she had never dared to touch before.
“Does it really look good? I think it’s too extravagant.” Hua Zhi’s face burned red like an apple.
She had never worn anything so beautiful. The reflection in the mirror didn’t even feel like her anymore.
All of this was given to her by her savior.
And Xie Shimian hadn’t even asked for anything in return.
How could something so wonderful exist in this world?
Xie Shimian’s voice was husky. “It’s beautiful. I love it.”
She pulled the moon-white qipao-clad cat-girl into her arms. Hua Zhi wore six-centimeter heels, the veins on the arches of her feet standing out as she balanced on them.
Last night, those very feet had hooked around Xie Shimian’s calves.
Having studied ballet before, Xie Shimian had no resistance to a beautifully arched foot.
Hua Zhi’s feet were like the pink paw pads of the Ragdoll cat Xie Shimian once owned.
“Our Zhizhi is so lovely.”
Xie Shimian looked at her as though admiring the most exquisite doll.
“Something’s missing, though.” Xie Shimian slid a ring from her own finger. “Your hand looks too bare.”
A warm, milky-white jade ring, still carrying Xie Shimian’s body heat, slipped onto Hua Zhi’s index finger.
Carved into the ring was a tiny night-blooming cereus.
Hua Zhi’s fingers jerked back from the sudden heat.
“Your ring is too precious.”
The awestruck expression on the kitten-like girl’s face made Xie Shimian chuckle.
“You’re mine now. Don’t be so easily impressed this is nothing.”
The kitten cradled her ring-adorned hand against her chest, practically radiating pink bubbles of joy.
She was overwhelmed with guilt. She had given nothing in return, how could she deserve such kindness from her benefactor? It wasn’t fair!
Xie Shimian, who had been petting the kitten, suddenly found her hand empty before being abruptly pressed against the back of her chair. A clumsy kiss landed at the corner of her lips.
The girl’s kiss was unpracticed hardly even a proper kiss.
Xie Shimian was left dazed after the forceful smack.
Before she could even process what had happened, Hua Zhi grabbed her clothes and fled into the fitting room, her face burning red.
“Miss? Miss, snap out of it, your neural comm is ringing.”
Xie Shimian murmured, “I’ve been defiled.”
Her first kiss, gone.
