Transmigrated Into A Scumbag Alpha Who Only Wants To Cuddle With Cat Omega - Chapter 20
“The moonlight outside the window flowed like water, while the room buzzed with springtime energy. The atmosphere grew tender as the two moved from the bathroom, to the sofa, and finally to the bedroom…” Song Ran read with relish, grinning at the little ostrich beside her.
A blush stained Sang Wu’s flawless, luminous cheeks, her almond-shaped eyes, veiled with misty rain, narrowed slightly. Her head drooped lower, as if trying to hide in her collar.
“Tan Yan’s lips were as red as a ripe peach on the verge of wilting, yet she still hungrily kissed Liu Dai—”
“Stop reading that,” Sang Wu said, feigning nonchalance. “Try a different section.”
“Oh? Which part do you want to try?” Song Ran leaned closer, her voice playful. “This one seems pretty good too.”
Sang Wu glanced upward, her gaze lingering on the screen. The text described the scene of Tan Yan and Liu Dai parting, and this section was indeed more suitable than the previous one. Rushing to appease Song Ran, she nodded without hesitation.
“Let’s use this scene,” Song Ran said with a smile, waving her phone. “There’s not much dialogue, so you have ten minutes to prepare. Is that okay?”
Sang Wu nodded.
The ten-minute countdown began, but Song Ran remained motionless while Sang Wu focused intently on memorizing her lines. Though her gaze remained fixed on Sang Wu, her thoughts had clearly wandered.
How am I going to film this scene with such a shy kitten?
Although Liu Dai, the role Sang Wu was playing, wasn’t the main character, she was a crucial supporting character with many scenes alongside the protagonist, Tan Yan. While there were only a few explicitly romantic scenes, most of their interactions involved varying degrees of intimacy.
Song Ran had initially planned to rely on clever camera angles and post-production compositing to handle these scenes. But now that Sang Wu had practically thrown herself into her lap, she found herself without a valid reason to refuse.
After all, who could resist a little kitten?
Especially a cute and beautiful kitten like Sang Wu.
Perhaps sensing the intensity of Song Ran’s gaze, Sang Wu asked expressionlessly, “Aren’t you memorizing your lines?”
Song Ran blinked innocently. “Oh, I’m all done.”
In her previous life, she had achieved three major awards. Beyond the acting skills she honed at her prestigious academy, her mastery of dialogue delivery was her greatest asset. Her quick recall and ability to memorize lines—while not photographic—allowed her to commit them to memory after just a few readings.
Sang Wu remained silent, quietly reciting her lines to herself.
Jincheng’s autumn was notoriously rainy. As the last rays of sunlight faded from the distant horizon, the vibrant sunset was swiftly obscured by thick, dark clouds.
Ten minutes passed. Just as the autumn wind, carrying the scent of rain, began to gust, Song Ran pulled Sang Wu into the room.
With the window shut, she smiled. “Ready?”
Sang Wu nodded.
“Let’s begin, then.” Song Ran, usually so adaptable, deliberately gave Sang Wu no time to adjust. In the next instant, she pinned her to the sofa. The smile vanished from her face as she demanded coldly, “Liu Dai, what did you just say?”
Initially dazed by the sudden change, Sang Wu quickly shifted into character. Her usual cool demeanor vanished as she became the bold and flamboyant Liu Dai, a hint of resignation in her eyes. “I said,” she replied, “we’re not right for each other. Let’s break up.”
These words completely enraged Tan Yan.
She turned Liu Dai around, gripped her chin, and said with a dark expression, “Say that again?”
“I said we’re breaking up,” Liu Dai said, trying to pull away. “Do you not understand?”
Tan Yan’s hand slid down from Liu Dai’s pale chin, stopping at her shirt buttons. “Disobedient children get punished. Liu Dai, how do you want me to punish you?”
The two were so close that Sang Wu could clearly smell Song Ran’s faint fragrance.
The soft touch of the fingertip on the shirt button made Sang Wu’s resolve falter, but in the script, Liu Dai remained defiant, refusing to back down. “Punish me? What a joke.”
Tan Yan scoffed coldly, her fingertip sliding down to the hem of Liu Dai’s shirt. She pinched the fabric provocatively. “Have you forgotten how I punished you last time?”
“Tan Yan, don’t push your luck. Don’t you know the meaning of ‘break up’?”
The cool fingertip brushed against her skin. “Teach me?”
“How the fuck am I supposed to teach you?” Sang Wu’s face flushed red. She couldn’t help but feel that Song Ran was lying. How could someone with such a natural acting ability possibly be a complete newbie?
As soon as she finished speaking, Tan Yan released Liu Dai’s hand and pulled her onto the sofa, wrapping her arms around her.
She deliberately blew into Liu Dai’s ear. “How to teach me? Isn’t that something you know best, Sister?”
“Enough.” Sang Wu’s breathing was uneven as she tried to struggle free. “That’s enough.”
Song Ran released her, her expressive peach blossom eyes swirling with emotion.
Sang Wu was more talented than she’d imagined. Though still somewhat clumsy, with time and practice, she could undoubtedly become the person Sang Wu had hoped to be at eighteen.
Lost in these thoughts, her gaze drifted to the kitten beside her. She reminded her gently, “Sang Wu.”
“Mm.”
“Fix your clothes and let’s go eat.”
Sang Wu quickly stood and hurried into the bathroom, leaving Song Ran alone on the sofa.
Song Ran met the gaze of Little Flower, who had been cowering in the corner and witnessed everything. “I just reminded her,” she said innocently. “Tan Yan was the one who did all that.”
Little Flower narrowed her eyes dangerously, letting out an angry hiss. After expressing her displeasure, she scurried timidly under the chair.
Seeing this, Song Ran smiled faintly.
After Song Ran revealed to Luo Jiao that Sang Wu had joined the talent pool with her, Luo Jiao acted swiftly. The next day, two young female beta assistants contacted Song Ran. Though they were relatively inexperienced, their lively personalities quickly put everyone at ease.
When they arrived on Wednesday to pick up the two women for the audition, the assistants couldn’t help but gasp at the sight of Sang Wu’s striking beauty.
Song Ran took in their expressions and smiled. “What’s wrong?”
He Ying, who was following Sang Wu, replied, “Nothing. Sister Ran and Sister Sang Wu, please get in the car.”
Shang Luoluo nodded in agreement. “That’s right! We’re here to be your chauffeurs for the day since you have auditions today!”
“Great.” Song Ran glanced at Sang Wu, who had remained silent beside her. “Let’s get in.”
“Mm.”
The extended luxury van drove off, splashing through the puddles on the road. The two women in the back were dressed formally, especially Sang Wu. Her hair was tied up in a bun, revealing her graceful swan-like neck. She wore a pale blouse under a well-fitted beige suit.
Though she looked slender, she carried herself like a walking clothes rack, making everything she wore look stunning, even without makeup.
“Don’t be nervous,” Song Ran said softly.
“I’m not,” Sang Wu immediately denied, but she sat even more stiffly.
“I was talking about myself,” Song Ran said playfully. “Sorry you had to hear that.”
Sang Wu didn’t argue. Instead, she took out her phone and started studying the script.
The two spent the car ride in peaceful silence. When they arrived at the audition location, two personal assistants immediately rushed to their sides. The receptionist’s eyes flickered with admiration as she politely led them to the audition room.
Several performers were already lined up outside the door.
Once their task was complete, the staff members left. Song Ran instructed her two personal assistants to wait in the waiting area, then led Sang Wu to get a number and join the queue. As the number of people in the front row dwindled from six to one, footsteps echoed down the corridor.
Soon, two girls appeared around the corner. The one on the left wore overalls and had a short, ear-length haircut. The one on the right had long, smooth hair cascading down her back, paired with a white embroidered dress and a beige blazer.
Her eyes lit up when she saw Song Ran. After getting her number, she sidled up to Song Ran and greeted her with a smile, “What a coincidence.”
Song Ran’s expression remained neutral. “Ms. An.”
“Are you here for the audition too?” An Yuanruan asked, her smile widening. “Who knew we’d have such a connection?”
Song Ran’s expression remained unreadable. “Mm.”
After that brief exchange, she ignored the Female Lead, who had inexplicably appeared here, and instead turned to Sang Wu, who was standing ahead of her with her head bowed. “Would you like some water?” she asked gently.
Sang Wu shook her head.
“Alright. Once you’re done with your audition, go find He Ying and the others in the waiting area.”
“Okay.”
The three of them, each lost in their own thoughts, watched as the audition room door opened. The tester led Sang Wu and the performer ahead of her inside.
The large room was so quiet that even the sound of He Ying snapping a box lid nearby seemed unusually loud. An Yuanruan, who was at the end of the line, patted Song Ran on the shoulder. “Which role did you choose?”
Her smile, framed by two dimples, gave her an especially innocent and charming look.
Song Ran turned to look at her. “Ms. An.”
“Hmm?”
“I believe I made it quite clear over the phone,” Song Ran said, her face impassive.
“It’s alright,” An Yuanruan said with a smile. “I was just asking.”
Song Ran turned back around without another word.
The film’s audition process was quick; each slot took less than ten minutes. When the door opened again, Song Ran glanced at Sang Wu, whose eyes held a glimmer of suppressed excitement, and murmured, “I’m going in.”
Sang Wu nodded.
Perhaps because it was the final round, Song Ran and An Yuanruan entered the audition room together.
Sang Wu waited in the waiting area for a while, then excused herself to use the restroom. Her footsteps were light, her mind buzzing with the audition panel’s praise, and she completely missed the figure that flashed past behind her.
The audition room was on the seventeenth floor. Unfortunately, the building’s restroom was out of order due to a water leak and undergoing repairs.
The sound of an elevator arriving echoed from nearby. After a moment’s thought, Sang Wu decided to take the elevator downstairs to check. The steel elevator doors closed slowly behind her after she pressed the button for the lower floors.
But in the next instant, the elevator suddenly plummeted at an unnaturally rapid speed. Sang Wu reacted quickly, intending to press the buttons for different floors. But before she could move, the lights went out, plunging the cramped space into complete darkness.
She stood on the inner side of the elevator, trembling from head to toe, her breathing rapid.
A sensation of weightlessness washed over her, her mind flooded with painful memories from the past. She collapsed to the floor, her face deathly pale.
