Transmigrated into a Classic Dog-Blood Drama as the Scummy Alpha - Chapter 83
The end of the month arrived quickly. Shen Xian had been incredibly busy—managing the company while simultaneously preparing for the wedding, from finalizing the menu to coordinating all the details.
Lately, Lin Qinghan had been feeling more and more fatigued. Nothing seemed to excite her, and her appetite was poor. The symptoms were strangely similar to what she experienced when she was pregnant with Tiantian. Considering that she and Shen Xian hadn’t used any contraception during their last susceptibility period, she decided to take a pregnancy test just to be sure.
When the test showed two clear lines, Lin Qinghan couldn’t help but smile—this was their baby. With how much Shen Xian doted on Tiantian, she could already imagine how spoiled this child would be. Just to be safe, she took another test. The result was exactly the same.
Still smiling, Lin Qinghan stepped out of the bathroom and sat down beside Shen Xian, leaning against her shoulder.
Shen Xian looked down at the woman nestled against her and chuckled, “What’s this? Missing me already, Qinghan?”
Lin Qinghan wrapped her arms around Shen Xian’s waist. “Mhm, a little. But it’s not just me who missed you.”
Shen Xian grinned, “Oh? Who else missed me?”
Blushing slightly, Lin Qinghan kissed the corner of Shen Xian’s lips. “Our baby.”
Shen Xian blinked in confusion. “Didn’t Tiantian just fall asleep? How do you know she missed me?”
Lin Qinghan poked her cheek. “Not Tiantian. I mean our new baby.”
“New baby?” Shen Xian looked puzzled. “Where did this new baby come from?”
Lin Qinghan burst out laughing. “You silly. Our new baby.”
Shen Xian froze for a second, then turned to her in surprise. “Qinghan, are you saying… you’re pregnant?”
Lin Qinghan nodded with a smile. “Mhm. I haven’t had much appetite lately, and it felt a lot like when I was pregnant with Tiantian. I just took a test—it came back positive.”
Shen Xian pressed her lips together, her expression suddenly serious. Lin Qinghan was slightly taken aback—she thought Shen Xian would be overjoyed. But looking at her now, she didn’t seem happy at all.
“What’s with that face?” Lin Qinghan asked gently, touching her cheek.
Shen Xian’s eyes turned slightly red. “I’m just thinking… pregnancy is so hard. I feel so bad for you.”
Lin Qinghan leaned in and kissed her softly. “Why are you being like this? I’m not suffering. This is our child—I’m happy. I’ve known you for so long and never seen you cry like this. You’re not allowed to cry. Be happy.”
Shen Xian nodded and held her tighter. “Should we go to the hospital for a check-up?”
“Let’s go in a few days. You can come with me,” Lin Qinghan replied with a smile.
That night, Shen Xian couldn’t relax. “Qinghan, are you okay sleeping tonight? What if I bump into you?”
Lin Qinghan chuckled. “I’m not made of glass. Just be like you always are. But for the first few months, you’re not allowed to bully me.”
Shen Xian nodded solemnly. “Okay.”
The next morning at breakfast, Lin Qinghan gently asked Tiantian, “Sweetie, would you like to have a little brother or sister to play with?”
Tiantian swallowed a big spoonful of porridge, her round eyes lighting up. “Really? A new cutie to play with me?”
Shen Xian teased, “Aren’t you the cutie?”
Tiantian giggled, “I want a little sister! I can take care of her~”
Lin Qinghan smiled. “Well then, your wish might be coming true very soon. You might have a little cutie joining you.”
Tiantian’s eyes sparkled. “Yay! I want a little sister!”
At preschool, Tiantian excitedly shared the news with her friends. Among them, only Huang Shuai had a younger sibling.
She asked, “Huang Shuai, is it super fun having a little sister?”
Huang Shuai thought for a moment. “She’s cute, but… now Mom and Dad don’t have as much time to play with me.”
Tiantian pursed her lips. “Really? I still want Mama and Mommy to spend time with me.”
Li Mengmeng reassured her, “It’s okay, Tiantian. You still have us!”
“Yeah, we’ll play with you,” Huang Shuai chimed in.
Though her joy dimmed a little, Tiantian nodded.
That evening when Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan came to pick her up, they noticed her low spirits.
“Tiantian, why so down today?” Shen Xian asked gently.
Tiantian pouted. “Huang Shuai said after he had a little sister, his mom and dad didn’t have time for him anymore~”
Lin Qinghan caressed her cheek. “That won’t happen to you. Even if you have a sister, Mommy and Mama will love you just the same. And a little sister means one more person who loves you.”
Tiantian thought about it, then smiled and nodded.
Back home, Shen Xian prepared a dish of sour cabbage fish—perfect for Qinghan’s waning appetite. As the delivery of fresh fish and pickled cabbage arrived, Shen Xian made sure to keep Lin Qinghan far from the kitchen to avoid any strong smells and to give her time to bond with Tiantian.
She cleaned the fish thoroughly, removed the blood, de-scaled and de-gutted it, then prepared the fillets and chopped the bones. Heating oil in a wok, she sautéed ginger, garlic, and scallions with the pickled cabbage, added seasoning and beer, and simmered everything with the fish.
The fragrant smell soon filled the house.
Tiantian sniffed the air and asked, “Mommy’s food smells so good~”
Lin Qinghan smiled, “If it’s yummy, eat lots later, okay?”
Tiantian nodded eagerly, sticking close to her.
When Shen Xian brought the dish to the table, she said warmly, “Qinghan, you haven’t been eating well. This is appetizing—try a little.”
Lin Qinghan smiled. “It already smells delicious. I’ll eat more today.”
Afraid Lin Qinghan might force herself to eat just to comfort her, Shen Xian quickly added, “Don’t force yourself. Eat what you want. If you’re hungry later, I’ll cook something else for you.”
Looking into her eyes, Lin Qinghan reassured her, “Shen Xian, you don’t have to be so anxious. These are normal pregnancy symptoms. I’m really fine.”
Only then did Shen Xian relax and nod.
Tiantian watched the two quietly and pouted.
Shen Xian noticed and quickly served her a bowl of fish—boneless and tender. Tiantian, delighted, began eating with gusto.
Watching her eat, Shen Xian and Lin Qinghan exchanged a smile.
That night, Shen Xian knelt by Lin Qinghan’s legs and said, “Qinghan, I read online that pregnant women often get leg cramps. Let me massage your legs every night before bed.”
Lin Qinghan looked down at her, warmed by the care, and nodded. “Alright. I’ll be waiting for Mrs. Lin’s services, then.”
Shen Xian gently massaged her legs, helping her relax. Even in bed, she slept lightly—each time Lin Qinghan moved, Shen Xian would wake up automatically.
After several attempts to reassure her that she was fine and just going to the bathroom, Shen Xian finally stayed asleep. When Lin Qinghan returned, she leaned into Shen Xian’s embrace and stroked her face.
Since the pregnancy news, Shen Xian hadn’t let her do any chores and even banned her from the kitchen. Lin Qinghan joked inwardly that at this rate, she’d forget how to cook by the time the baby was born.
Shen Xian murmured with her eyes closed, “Qinghan, tell me if you feel uncomfortable.”
Lin Qinghan kissed her softly and whispered with a smile, “Got it. Sleep, you silly. Don’t worry—I’m not made of glass.”
Shen Xian brushed a kiss along her ear. “Qinghan, thank you for everything.”
Lin Qinghan smiled. “It’s not hard.”
Looking at her lover, Lin Qinghan swallowed her emotions. Everything else was fine—except she now had to refrain from intimacy for a few months, which she found particularly difficult. Before being with Shen Xian, she never realized how much she craved closeness. She blamed Shen Xian for spoiling her this much.
Because her hospital work involved X-rays and radiation, Lin Qinghan began seriously considering Shen Xian’s suggestion to resign and spend the next few months learning company operations. That way, after the baby was born, she could help share Shen Xian’s workload.
She had already submitted her resignation that morning, though handovers, paperwork, and insurance transfers would take a couple of days.
Han Rui was the most reluctant to see her go but knew Lin Qinghan had better prospects now. “Even if you’re leaving, don’t forget to keep in touch!”
“Of course,” Lin Qinghan said with a smile. “We’ll still go shopping together.”
“I’ll be waiting!” Han Rui laughed.
Since Lu Jianbai had been jailed for stealing company data, things at the hospital had improved. However, Zhao Qing and Liu Wenwen were still gossiping.
“I heard Lin Qinghan quit. Word is, she’s going to work for her Alpha’s company,” Zhao Qing whispered.
“Yeah, she handed in her resignation this morning. Goes to show, no matter how well you do, it’s better to marry well. Wasn’t Shen Xian just some loafer before? Now she’s ‘President Shen.’ Hilarious,” Liu Wenwen added sarcastically.
“Well, I am jealous of Lin Qinghan. Her Alpha is rich and considerate, picking her up every day. Why can’t I find someone like that? I’d be married already.”
“Please. Shen Xian’s little company is nothing. If Dr. Lu was still around, things would be different. Good family, good looks—too bad he was obsessed with Lin Qinghan,” Zhao Qing muttered.
Coincidentally, Lin Qinghan overheard them while fetching water and loudly interrupted, “What are you whispering about? Why not say it louder?”
Startled, the women quickly scattered. Liu Wenwen glared and muttered, “Nothing. Let’s go, let’s get back to work.”
As they walked off, Lin Qinghan’s voice rang behind them, “If you have time to gossip, maybe use it to improve yourselves.”
They knew she was right and hastily quickened their pace.
Watching them leave, Lin Qinghan simply smiled and shook her head. Once, their words might have bothered her. But not anymore—because now she had a wider world, a better future. Their opinions no longer mattered.
