Transmigrated as the Vampire Alpha of the Omega Heroine - Chapter 57 (END)
Rewinding to the wedding day, as the alpha’s elder, CEO Gu’s already formidable alcohol tolerance seemed even more impressive on this occasion. The fervor with which she toasted made Ji Bo, who was trying to restrain her, watch with bated breath.
“Alright, that’s enough drinking,” Ji Bo said, grabbing the glass of baijiu that Gu Wei was about to down again. She hastily steadied Gu Wei and took the glass from her hand. “I’ll drink this one for you.”
Gu Wei was genuinely tipsy now. She instinctively moved to press the glass to Ji Bo’s lips, but quickly pulled it away when she recognized whose face it was.
“No, no more,” she said, her suddenly alert expression far more responsive than the previous attempts to stop her.
Ji Bo set the glass down, eyeing Gu Wei with curiosity. What had caused this reaction?
As the alcohol’s effects intensified, Ji Bo scooped Gu Wei into her arms and hurried upstairs. Though not completely drunk, Gu Wei was still dizzy, and in her dazed state, she murmured a name while looking at Ji Bo’s face: “Bai Bai?”
Clearly not fully coherent. Ji Bo laid her on the sofa and went to prepare sobering soup.
Meanwhile, the alpha on the couch, still groggy, fished out her phone to check the time. Seeing it was nearly bedtime, she plugged in her Bluetooth earbuds and tapped on her phone’s default music app. But before the earbuds could connect, the audio blared loudly through the room.
“I really like Sister Gu… sob sob… Gu Wei, I really like you…” Ji Bo’s own voice echoed from the phone.
In the kitchen, the alpha stiffened mid-stir.
She leapt back to the sofa and silenced the audio, staring in shock at Gu Wei’s phone. The timestamp showed it was a recording from two years ago from the night she had blacked out after drinking with Gu Wei and a client.
When she had woken up, she found herself in bed with Gu Wei, though the omega assured her nothing had happened between them. She had assumed her blackout self had simply passed out.
On the sofa, CEO Gu had already drifted into a deep sleep, completely unaffected by the recording. Left with no choice, Lawyer Ji, after feeding her the sobering soup, spent the entire night sitting stiffly with the earbuds in, listening to that mortifying recording on loop.
How utterly embarrassing.
…
“Mmm.” The culprit of this ordeal only now began to stir awake.
The first thing she saw was the alpha’s bloodshot eyes, evidence of a sleepless night. The phone, drained from playing the audio all night, was plugged into a charger.
Lawyer Ji pressed her lips together and wordlessly transferred the earbuds to Gu Wei’s ears.
The distant voice transported them both back to that day when Gu Wei had shared a room with the young alpha.
She never expected that Ji Bo, who had come to her office to report on a case, would end up shielding her from the client’s playful toasts. The veteran client had brought an excessive amount of baijiu, and what was meant to be a light business drink turned into a full-blown drinking session in the office. The young alpha, coaxed into joining by the client, downed glass after glass with an unflappable composure that made her seem invincible.
But in reality, he was already at the end of his rope. Seeing that the business deal was nearly concluded, Ji Bai stood up, excusing himself to go to the restroom.
What happened next became a blur in her memory.
However, Gu Wei remembered everything clearly. After seeing the clients off and returning to the office, she found the alpha leaning against a desk, whispering sweet nothings to a chair.
“Sis, I like you so much.” The words were straightforward yet oddly endearing.
Initially intending to record her drunken best friend’s antics for amusement, Gu Wei had just turned on her phone’s voice recorder when the alpha suddenly noticed her presence and immediately pounced.
Though not particularly heavy, the alpha pressed most of her weight against Gu Wei, greedily inhaling her scent.
Then came the unexpected confession, delivered with drunken sorrow: “I don’t want to just be sis’s best friend wuwuwu… And I hate listening to Stewart Li’s lame jokes. Hearing the person I like talk about how funny her husband is hurts so much wuwuwu…”
Shocked by this alcohol-fueled honesty, Gu Wei propped her up and asked, “Who do you like?”
Stewart Li was Gu Li’s father. Those jokes were things she’d only mentioned during conversations with her best friend Ji Bai!
“I like Sister Gu… I like Sister Gu the most wuwuwu…” The alpha clinging to her seemed stuck on repeat, continuously confessing until even the composed omega began feeling flustered.
With her limited strength and alcohol-impaired state, Gu Wei couldn’t possibly get them both home safely. Nor could she call for help without causing misunderstandings about their situation.
Spotting the open door to the lounge, Gu Wei half-dragged, half-carried Ji Bai inside. After struggling to remove the lawyer’s jacket, she hit a roadblock with the white dress shirt.
“No… no way… what are you doing (=_=)?” The alpha protectively crossed her arms over her chest, glaring suspiciously. “I only like Sister Gu… can’t sleep with anyone else.”
“I am Sister Gu.” Gu Wei could practically see the cartoon sweat drops forming on her forehead. She considered calling Ji’s family to come collect this troublesome drunk.
Why did Ji Bai, usually so composed, turn into this mess when intoxicated?
“No… don’t want to.”
“Fine then, get yourself home.” Gu Wei dumped her on the bed and went to wash up.
Returning later, she found the alpha curled up, whispering to a pillow: “Wuwuwu… why won’t Sister Gu pay attention to me…”
“Get up and change before sleeping.” Gu Wei tossed an unused set of pajamas onto the alpha’s face with exasperation.
Ji Bai seemed to regain momentary clarity, dumbly grabbing the clothes. “Okay.”
Then proceeded to change while continuing her drunken monologue: “Likes white… appreciates humor… dislikes shrimp, prefers eggs medium-soft…”
The omega listening nearby grew increasingly startled these were all personal preferences she’d casually mentioned during past conversations with her best friend!
Why had this woman memorized them?
“…Try weak omega/strong alpha dynamic must learn to act cute for a chance but being cute is so hard wuwuwu…” Now in pajamas, the alpha pouted as if on the verge of tears.
“You seem quite good at acting cute…”President Gu couldn’t help but tease, at least that’s how it appeared now such a stark contrast to her usual serious demeanor that it was adorably charmingly contrasting.”
No sooner had she spoken than the alpha seemed to have found a confidant, sniffling as she repeated, “I really like Sister Gu, wuwuwu… Gu Wei, I really like you…”
A confession or two would have been fine, but these words kept coming one after another, each more clingy than the last, giving President Gu goosebumps.
“Alright, alright, I get it. Stop now,” she muttered, her scalp tingling as she looked at the person. “How is it that nowadays even close friends risk turning into lovers?”
She pulled the blanket over the alpha’s head, thinking she should go home to sleep. As she picked up her phone to call her driver, she noticed the recording was still on and absentmindedly hit stop, the system automatically saved the audio.
Her fingers quickly searched for the driver’s number, but the alpha, buried under the blanket, suddenly got up and staggered toward the water dispenser, looking as if she might fall any second. President Gu hurried over to steady her.
After much back-and-forth, when they returned to the bedside, the alpha suddenly pounced, pinning Gu Wei down. A strong alpha scent overwhelmed her, and for a moment, Gu Wei feared something inappropriate might happen, only to realize the person had fallen asleep right then and there.
The oolong tea pheromones, leaking out due to the alpha’s unstable emotions, drifted into Gu Wei’s senses, unexpectedly soothing her discomfort. At this hour, she should have been wide awake, but the alpha’s pheromones inexplicably lulled her into sleep.
The next morning brought another awkward situation, the alpha had completely forgotten everything from the night before. Choosing silence to preserve their friendship, President Gu magnanimously kept it all to herself.
She consciously distanced herself, but to her surprise, the alpha seemed to have had an epiphany. From then on, everything she did aligned perfectly with Gu Wei’s preferences.
Companionship, understanding, patience, and even the occasional vulnerability, it all made Gu Wei feel that being with Ji Bai was a good choice.
The omega looked at Ji Bai with amusement. “You didn’t lose sleep over this, did you?”
“Yeah, I was so embarrassed back then,” Ji Bai buried her face in Gu Wei’s arms, unable to meet her teasing gaze.
“Actually, it was after that incident that I realized your kindness toward me was… “romantic in nature,” Gu Wei stroked the alpha’s fluffy head, teasing, “So, it’s true, only a ‘weak alpha and strong omega’ pairing stands a chance, you little cute whiner.””
As if remembering something, she added with a slightly stern expression, “But don’t get drunk like that again. That repeater mode gives me goosebumps.”
