Transmigrated as the Vampire Alpha of the Omega Heroine - Chapter 51
When Jiang Nian woke up, this was the scene she saw, an alpha crouching dumbly in the corner of the room beside a few test papers, her head draped with Jiang Nian’s jacket.
“What are you doing?” Jiang Nian touched the scattered love bites on her neck before moving her fingers to the scent gland at the nape.
Gu Li hadn’t marked her. Even during their earlier physical teasing, she hadn’t taken the final step.
The heat triggered by the alpha’s pheromones wasn’t too intense, especially since the alpha had deliberately restrained her scent to avoid overwhelming her. This allowed Jiang Nian to regain clarity after a short, deep sleep.
She got out of bed, pulled the jacket off Gu Li’s head, and underneath it was the flushed face of an alpha struggling with restraint.
Of course, it was agonizing. Despite being in rut, despite the overwhelming desire, Gu Li had held back, letting her pheromones surge wildly inside her not daring to mark or do anything else, afraid that once she started, she wouldn’t be able to stop.
“Don’t come any closer. Just stay where you are,” Gu Li murmured, avoiding her gaze as she reached for the jacket to cover herself again.
“Then why did I come here?” Jiang Nian chuckled softly, tugging at the crouching alpha.
“To keep me company.”
“And that’s enough for you? Hmm? Aren’t you suffering in rut? Why not mark me and take my pheromones?”
Jiang Nian crouched down to meet her eye level, tilting Gu Li’s chin up with her fingers to make her look at her.
“You… fainted last time. When you told me to stop, I didn’t. You must’ve been angry afterward, so no matter what I said, you refused to spend my rut with me.” The alpha, muddled by her rut, spoke in a disjointed manner, most of her energy was spent resisting the urge to mark the omega in front of her.
“But I still came, didn’t I? And last time, it wasn’t entirely because of that.” Jiang Nian’s fist lightly tapped Gu Li’s shoulder, her tone carrying a hint of playful reproach.
Some of her anger had stemmed from Gu Li not telling her about her recovery sooner, some from her own omega pride, and some from the stark contrast in Gu Li’s marking ability along with the embarrassment of willingly exposing her own vulnerability.
There were many odd little grievances between them. Their relationship had always been gentle, never truly escalating into arguments, but they had both kept words and actions hidden in their hearts. Over time, those unspoken frustrations had piled up, and she had seized that opportunity to let them all out.
Gu Li had silently endured it, taken it to heart, and even absorbed some of her words.
It seemed they would have to learn to communicate openly from now on. Keeping things to themselves or acting unilaterally wasn’t good for either of them.
Jiang Nian glanced at the alpha, visibly struggling, and her heart ached. She gently touched Gu Li’s feverish cheek before tilting her neck, offering her scent gland. “Alright, bite.”
She leaned into the alpha’s embrace, finding support as the pale nape of her neck was laid bare the most tempting sight for an alpha in rut.
“Are you sure? If you tell me to stop, I’ll stop immediately.” The alpha rubbed her itching fangs, making a solemn promise.
Her touch was light, fully prepared to be stopped at any moment.
But the need for pheromones brought on by her rut made her unconsciously press her lips completely against the omega’s scent gland on the back of her neck.
Jiang Nian didn’t tell her to stop, allowing this alpha to mark her to her heart’s content. She even grabbed the alpha’s restless hand, intertwining their fingers and holding her tight.
The rut lasted three days, just like every previous episode of Gu Li’s condition they had weathered together. The usually gentle, doting alpha transformed into an obedient puppy in front of Jiang Nian stopping when told, releasing when satisfied, pitifully well-behaved.
Only during the marking process did the alpha appear more dominant, after all, she held control over the omega’s vulnerable scent gland in her arms.
The once-tidy room was reduced to chaos in just three days, thanks to their spontaneous marking sessions that could start anywhere.
The omega, itching for her turn, also seized several opportunities to exercise her marking ability, leaving her own imprints on the alpha’s scent gland.
They silently agreed that they could claim each other, whispering confessions in each other’s ears, things they had never voiced before. Jiang Nian heard Gu Li’s innermost thoughts, and Gu Li learned Jiang Nian’s true feelings.
They laughed over silly high school mishaps and secret little schemes, revisited past misunderstandings and worries.
They grew closer, learning to communicate more deeply, slowly mastering how to better connect with those around them during this summer that marked the end of their high school years.
When Madam Gu saw the two practically conjoined figures emerge from the isolation room, she nodded in satisfaction. That phone call had been the right move.
Their appearance alone told the whole story.
“Perfect timing. You’ve both been eating specialized rut and heat meals for three days. How about joining Mom for a change of taste? There’s someone I’d like you to meet.” She jingled her car keys, a rare gesture, as she seldom drove herself.
Her usual black suit was swapped for a beige casual dress, her striking features softened by subtle makeup.
Gu Li had hardly ever seen Gu Wei like this, only in childhood photos where she stood beside Gu Li’s father, dressed similarly, free from her usual CEO persona.
“Alright.” Gu Li had an inkling, which was confirmed when they pulled up to the upscale restaurant and saw Lawyer Ji waiting outside, dressed to the nines.
Lawyer Ji, oblivious to the extra guests, beamed as she approached Madam Gu, offering her arm.
The motion was natural, the expression perfect. Only after Gu Wei took her arm did she produce two invitation cards from her pocket, handing them to Gu Li and Jiang Nian.
“Hello, I’m Ji Bai. I anticipated some… additional circumstances, so I reserved a table for Miss Gu and Miss Jiang, right next to ours.”
During their recent conversations, Gu Wei had considered the possibility that Gu Li and Jiang Nian might conclude their sensitive period today. Given her goddess’s personality, bringing someone along was almost inevitable. Having finally secured a proper date for herself, she had no intention of sharing it with the young, already-engaged couple.
“You predicted this too,” Gu Wei chuckled lightly.
“The food here is excellent. Feel free to order whatever you like, I’ve already arranged the bill in advance,” Ji Bai said, nodding at Gu Li and Jiang Nian before leading Gu Wei into the restaurant.
Jiang Nian, holding Gu Li’s hand, watched the intimate pair ahead. “Auntie Gu and Lawyer Ji seem really close.”
Yes, they were indeed close, so close that Lawyer Ji seemed on the verge of winning over her mother.
Ji Bai had thoughtfully reserved a private room, even placing a screen between the two tables. Throughout the meal, Gu Li and Jiang Nian could constantly hear Gu Wei’s laughter and Ji Bai’s effortless charm, which kept the atmosphere lively.
The two youngsters eavesdropping nearby couldn’t help but laugh several times themselves.
“Lawyer Ji is so funny and interesting,” Jiang Nian whispered to Gu Li. “I had no idea she was like this in private. During our legal education class, I thought she was the serious, lecturing type.”
Gu Li recalled her phone conversations with Ji Bai and had to agree. Apart from how she acted around Gu Wei, Ji Bai was indeed stern and old-fashioned about most things.
After dinner, the four strolled along a nearby path. Gu Li deliberately led Jiang Nian in a different direction from Gu Wei and Ji Bai, wanting to secretly observe how the two interacted.
Following Gu Li’s lead, Jiang Nian playfully pretended to walk away before doubling back to peek around a corner like a pair of thieves.
“Why are we sneaking around like this?” Jiang Nian teased, breathing softly into Gu Li’s ear.
“Stop it,” Gu Li grabbed her hands, pulling her close. “Let’s see how Lawyer Ji and my mom get along. I think there’s something going on between them.”
Under a streetlight, Lawyer Ji and Madam Gu stood together.
“Gu Li ran off so fast, she didn’t even give me a chance to explain,” Gu Wei sighed, resting her head on Ji Bai’s shoulder. “I wanted to tell her you’re my girlfriend.”
Honestly, it wasn’t necessary. Miss Gu was the very reason Ji Bai had succeeded in pursuing her in the first place.
Ji Bai silently mused, about to wrap an arm around Gu Wei when a large moth suddenly fluttered down from the streetlight. Startled, she ducked into Gu Wei’s arms in a panic.
“B-bug!” she stammered, flailing at the fluttering insect while burying her face against Gu Wei.
The omega holding her burst into laughter.
Even Gu Li, watching from their hiding spot with Jiang Nian, was stunned. Lawyer Ji was truly committed to her role as the delicate, coquettish alpha.
