Transmigrated as the Vampire Alpha of the Omega Heroine - Chapter 47 (R19)
The rhythmic patting on the back and the gradually calming breaths of the person nestled in her arms were like the best lullaby, lulling Gu Li into sleep as well.
The night of the graduation party passed with the two of them curled up together.
Morning came, but the sunlight couldn’t slip through the tightly drawn curtains. Instead, their phones rang incessantly.
Disturbing sweet dreams, truly a heinous crime.
The alpha, who was usually prone to morning grumpiness, reacted faster than the person in her arms, quickly realizing where they were. Flustered, she grabbed her jacket and fished her phone out of the pocket. Glancing at the caller ID, she wasn’t surprised to see Gu Wei’s name.
“Hello?”
She answered the call but still felt something was off, only then did she realize another phone in the room was still ringing.
Jiang Nian was utterly exhausted. Her eyelids fluttered several times but refused to open. She had cried too hard last night and without even soothing her swollen eyes, had fallen asleep curled up in the alpha’s embrace. Now, the consequences were catching up to her.
While dealing with the call on her end, Gu Li reached into Jiang Nian’s pants pocket for her phone.
Her fingers brushed against the omega’s skin more than a few times in the process, and the strange, electrifying sensation from last night’s marking resurfaced in her mind.
Gu Li, uncharacteristically stumbling over her words, stopped responding to Gu Wei’s questions. Her hand finally closed around the still-vibrating phone.
Do alphas just not know restraint? She could almost swear she felt her pheromones leaking again.
She hummed vague responses to her mother’s inquiries, then glanced at the caller ID on Jiang Nian’s phone.
Grandma Jiang.
Damn. They had both forgotten to check in last night. She had originally planned to take Jiang Nian home once she calmed down, but after soothing her, she had ended up falling asleep too.
And now, this mess.
“Hello? I just got home. Did your graduation party run late? The housekeeper said you didn’t come back.” Gu Wei chuckled on the other end. “Did you pull an all-nighter at a private theater or a rental? Need me to send a driver?”
“Mom,” Gu Li said blankly, staring at Grandma Jiang’s persistent calls, “if you spend the night alone with an omega before marriage, you should take responsibility, right?”
“Hmm?” Gu Wei paused for a second.
“Did you and Jiang Nian get a hotel room?”
“…Nian’s heat came. I had to mark her, so we found a temporary place. Then we both passed out from exhaustion…”
The way she phrased it sounded weird, but it wasn’t like they had been completely innocent either. They had touched, hugged, kissed, and marked…
Really, only the final step was left.
“Best friends these days help each other out by marking now?” Gu Wei teased, her tone playful through the phone.
“…Not best friends anymore. She’s my girlfriend.”
“Oh~ Well then, take good care of her, Gu Li. Nian hasn’t made a sound, is she still asleep? I won’t disturb you two. Bring your girlfriend over for a visit next time.”
And just like that, she hung up, offering no real advice. Why couldn’t she have answered the previous question properly?
Jiang Nian’s phone was still vibrating in her hand, and the omega beside her was still frowning in her sleep. Setting her own phone aside, Gu Li pressed her thumb gently between Jiang Nian’s brows, rubbing in slow circles.
Better not wake her up, she must have been truly exhausted last night if even this noisy environment can’t rouse her.
“Hello, Grandma Jiang.”
The alpha steeled herself and answered the phone.
The elderly woman on the other end was clearly stunned for a long moment before finally speaking. “Is this Gu Li? Did you all stay out all night for your graduation party? Nian didn’t even tell me. I got worried when I didn’t see her this morning. But you’re together, right? Why are you the one answering her phone?”
“We are together, but the situation is a bit… special. I’ll explain in person when I bring Nian back later. Don’t worry, she’s just really tired and still sleeping.”
Even she found her own words awkward, but the good impression she had built with Grandma Jiang over time earned her enough trust that the old woman didn’t question her explanation. Instead, she even reminded them to eat breakfast and not sleep until noon just because they had partied too hard the night before.
The alpha hung up, wiping nonexistent sweat from her forehead, then leaned over to look at the still-sleeping figure.
Last night, she had forgotten to remove Nian’s makeup before letting her sleep. Now, the tear streaks on Jiang Nian’s cheeks and the swollen eyes from crying were still visible.
She really had let desire cloud her judgment last night.
Mentally listing the things she needed to buy, she grabbed a jacket and headed out.
At the door, she turned back, tore a piece of paper, scribbled a note about where she was going, and tucked it into Jiang Nian’s palm before finally leaving.
The moment she stepped outside, the thick scent of pheromones in the room faded. She sniffed, lingering for a moment as she glanced back at the figure on the bed, then quickly shut the door against the chilly morning air.
Steamed pork buns, custard buns, crab roe buns, and red bean porridge after buying all of Jiang Nian’s favorites, the alpha carried the breakfast to a nearby open store. She picked up a full set of makeup remover and grabbed suppressant patches for both herself and the omega.
As she pulled out her phone to pay, a message from the omega came through.
–
Where are you?
–
Not far, I’ll be back soon. Be good, sleep a little longer.
–
The scent is fading.
Gu Li read the message, understanding exactly what Jiang Nian meant. An omega relying on an alpha’s pheromones to get through their heat would naturally grow dependent on that scent. Last time, when they hadn’t completed the full mating mark, Jiang Nian had clung to her for a while afterward.
Her heart ached for the girl, and her steps quickened.
What had taken her over ten minutes to walk earlier now took only six on the way back. Standing in front of the hotel room door, she swiped the keycard and entered.
The person on the bed hadn’t obediently stayed asleep. Instead, those still-swollen eyes were fixed dazedly on the door. Gu Li clearly saw them light up the moment she stepped inside.
Setting the things down on the nightstand, she instinctively reached out to catch Jiang Nian as the omega tried to lean into her.
“My eyes hurt,” Jiang Nian mumbled softly.
“Then you should close them and rest more.” Seeing how intently the omega was staring at her, Gu Li pressed a palm gently over her eyes.
Soft little hands wrapped around her as Jiang Nian clung to the alpha’s body like boneless dough, complaining softly, “It’s all your fault.”
Last night when she’d begged her to stop, the alpha had kept marking her relentlessly, reducing her to this puffy-eyed goldfish state.
Gu Li took out the items from the bedside cabinet bag, carefully pouring makeup remover onto a cotton pad to clean the tear-streaked face of her little kitten. Without a basin in the hotel, it was difficult to fetch water properly.
She could only carry her to the bathroom counter, meticulously wiping her clean before giving her a proper wash. Then she retrieved a clean towel and the ice cubes she’d gone through great lengths to obtain, gently applying them to reduce the omega’s swelling before finally cleaning herself.
Jiang Nian was carried back and forth, completely at the alpha’s mercy as she was maneuvered about.
Finally propped against the headboard with an ice-packed towel over her eyes, Gu Li found time to respond: “My fault indeed.”
Jiang Nian’s fingers pinched lazily at the soft flesh around her waist, as if punishing her, unaware that such weak pressure brought no pain, only kindled desire.
“Did the phone ring this morning? It was so loud, but I couldn’t get up.” Jiang Nian remembered this only after being fed several sips of water.
The alpha removed the compress and felt her forehead. “Grandma called, wondering why you didn’t come home. I answered. We’ll explain properly when we visit today.”
“Explain what?” Her barely recovered eyes struggled open, only to be covered by a cool palm.
“About taking proper responsibility, Professor Jiang.” Gu Li pulled her closer, massaging the back of her head with slow, soothing motions.
The legal marriage age here was 20 for omegas and 21 for alphas they still had a few years, but could get engaged first. Moreover, clarifying things with their families early would prevent those awkward early morning calls though today was accidental, the day would inevitably come.
She just wondered if Grandma Jiang would agree, given she’d essentially acted first and reported later.
“Responsibility? Okay…” After a long silence, the voice muffled against her shoulder added, “But student Gu, I don’t want to teach you anything else.”
Last night’s persistent, determined marking had left an indelible impression especially how the seemingly endless pheromones had engulfed her completely, combined with the alpha’s precise manipulation of her sensitive spots, trapping her in wave after wave of overwhelming sensation.
Gu Li’s laughter earned her a fierce bite on the neck. Though an omega’s marking teeth weren’t as sharp as an alpha’s, the weakened kitten still managed to break skin, investing considerable effort in punishing her mocking mate.
A nimble tongue danced over her scent gland, asserting dominance just as it did during their kisses.
Gu Li indulged the mischief, even pulling her closer lest she exhaust herself. The unfed omega soon grew hungry, yet kept gnawing stubbornly at that soft patch of neck.
“Were you wrong?” she mumbled, her teeth grazing the back of his neck.
She had worried that biting Gu Li too much might affect his performance, but yesterday proved he was more than capable, overwhelmingly so, in fact.
“I was wrong, I was wrong,” Gu Li stifled a laugh, wiping away the involuntary tears caused by her biting his scent gland as he pleaded for mercy.
“Hmph.” Only then did the omega release him, shifting out of the alpha’s embrace to carefully reach for the red bean porridge and crab roe buns that had been set aside to cool.
But her small hand was caught. The alpha, whose heart had been itching from her bite, narrowed his eyes with a smirk. “Let me make it up to you.”
He picked up a spoon, scooped some porridge, blew on it, and pretended to feed Jiang Nian, only to turn and put it in his own mouth instead. Before the omega could protest, his lips sealed hers, transferring the warm porridge into her mouth.
The alpha licked away the lingering traces at the corner of his lips, barely suppressing his urge to mark her by relying on the pheromones exchanged through their kiss.
