Transmigrated as the Little Concubine of a Paper-Thin Man - Chapter 26
Rumbles erupted from the black mist, shaking the convention ground into a state of chaos. The ground tremors became increasingly noticeable, making it impossible for Shi Yunjii to stand still. She fell, her head dizzy, and managed to find a massive pillar to steady herself. Then, she looked up and saw the main peak of the Flying Immortal Sect in the distant turmoil.
The magnificently adorned main peak of the Flying Immortal Sect seemed to be sinking into a quagmire, shrouded in black mist, pulling it down into a shaky ruin.
“She’s here!” a loud shout came from nearby. Shi Yunjii turned her head and saw that the newcomers were none other than Hua Shu and her group.
Having just suffered a loss due to the silver bell, Hua Shu immediately looked at Shi Yunjii’s wrist. Seeing that her hands were empty, Hua Shu was initially pleased, but then her brow furrowed deeply.
“What did you do?”
Shi Yunjii curled her lips.
Although the situation was not optimistic for her, she felt incredibly invigorated. She pointed at the black mist above, and even though she knew she couldn’t utter a sound, she responded to Hua Shu seriously, one word at a time: [Did you think your conspiracy would succeed?]
Hua Shu’s eyes were bloodshot with anger.
Words were meaningless now. She raised her sword and furiously lunged toward Shi Yunjii.
Shi Yunjii was completely unarmed and truly defenseless, but there was no trace of fear in her eyes as she looked at Hua Shu. It was as if having protected her little girl, Yan Ling, was satisfaction enough.
At this crucial moment, Qin Zhen finally reappeared.
“Oh dear, oh dear—” He turned sideways, perfectly blocking Hua Shu’s path. “Isn’t this the daughter of the Flying Immortal Sect Master?” As he spoke, he stepped forward and grabbed Hua Shu’s wrist. “Ah, Immortal Fairy, Immortal Fairy, what’s going on with this convention? Is it still happening? Why did everyone suddenly disappear? I was looking forward to toasting Sect Master Hua.”
Hua Shu moved left, and his protruding belly obstructed her; Hua Shu moved right, and he backed up to block the way again.
Hua Shu finally couldn’t hold back her patience. “Get out of my way!”
“What’s the matter… I thought a major sect like the Flying Immortal Sect would be more considerate in their hospitality than us rogue cultivators…” Qin Zhen began to mumble. “Now it seems that’s not the case at all. They’re actually doing something even more outrageous.”
They were close, and Hua Shu heard every word of his mumbling clearly.
She looked at him in disbelief, eyes wide. “What do you mean?” She pointed the tip of her sword at Qin Zhen. “What are you? How dare a nameless nobody like you slander the Flying Immortal Sect?”
“Heh heh.” Qin Zhen retreated several steps, until he was right in front of Shi Yunjii. “Don’t speak nonsense. I wouldn’t dare do such a thing as slander.”
He was about to continue stalling, but the black mist above them suddenly let out a chilling sound. Qin Zhen’s face changed, and he abruptly looked at Hua Shu with a cold expression. “Aren’t you clear about what you’ve done? Are you afraid of others speaking the truth?”
Hua Shu was trembling with rage and was about to attack recklessly, but the cluster of black mist hovering above the crowd finally gave way, exploding violently outwards. The force of the explosion sent Hua Shu crashing to the ground, unable to get up for a long time.
When the surrounding dust and smoke had slightly cleared, she propped up her upper body and, through the faint black mist, finally saw the scene in front of her—
Yan Ling, who had broken free, was holding Shi Yunjii in her arms, carefully checking her condition. “Are you alright? Are you hurt?”
Shi Yunjii offered a bitter smile.
From the outside, Yan Ling’s condition was far worse than hers. Her face was pale, and she had numerous cuts and wounds of various sizes on her body. Yet, despite this, Yan Ling still had the presence of mind to worry about her.
She shook her head, simply replying with two words: [No], and in turn, worried about the other person’s injuries: [Why are you so hurt? Is it serious?]
“I’m fine, just surface wounds.” Yan Ling understood her lip movements and curled her lips to reassure her.
Shi Yunjii, of course, did not believe her.
She looked at the wounds on Yan Ling’s body, her nose stinging, and her eyes quickly filled with tears.
Yan Ling gently wiped away the moisture from the corners of her eyes.
“It’s really fine.”
Shi Yunjii took a deep breath, forcing down the surging emotions, and used lip movements: [First, let’s leave here.]
The convention was in complete chaos, and the Flying Immortal Sect’s forces had not yet fully assembled. If they didn’t take this opportunity to leave, it would likely be very difficult to get away later.
Yan Ling had the same intention.
She gave Hua Shu a cold glance over her shoulder, then gave Qin Zhen a look.
Qin Zhen said nothing, just waved his hand, and disappeared from the convention grounds.
Seeing this, Yan Ling wasted no words, wrapped her arms around Shi Yunjii’s waist, and soared into the air, without any lingering attachment.
As the two ascended, Hua Shu’s voice came from behind: “Yan Ling—”
Yan Ling paused and heard her question: “Are you really leaving?” Hatred was implicit in Hua Shu’s eyes. “If you leave, don’t ever think about returning to the Flying Immortal Sect!”
“Thank you for the warning.” Yan Ling didn’t even bother to turn around and spare her a glance. “I never want to set foot in a place like this again.”
Hua Shu was stunned, then she felt completely put out, embarrassed and wretched as if she had been slapped in the face.
Yan Ling did not linger, carrying Shi Yunjii, and quickly left the Flying Immortal Sect.
She didn’t know how long they flew, and Shi Yunjii even slept for a while due to exhaustion midway. When she opened her eyes again, she found herself in a small wooden cabin, and Yan Ling was not by her side.
She felt a little anxious, got out of bed, and walked to the door, where she saw a clear lake.
Yan Ling was standing by the lake, and she turned to look at her. “You’re awake?”
Shi Yunjii was momentarily stunned.
The scene before her was not unfamiliar; this was Yan Ling’s residence before she entered the Flying Immortal Sect. Back then, apart from going out for exploration, their daily leisure time would be spent here.
Beside the mountain lake, the scenery was incredibly beautiful and, due to its remoteness, it was wonderfully quiet—a true paradise on earth. If it weren’t for Yan Ling’s subsequent improvement in strength and the need to move to a place with denser spiritual energy, they wouldn’t have left this small wooden cabin.
Now, being here in person, Shi Yunjii suddenly felt an immense sense of peace within. She took a deep breath, letting the cool mountain air fill her lungs, and then slowly exhaled the stale air.
“Are you hungry?” Yan Ling approached her. “I’ve prepared some food. If you’re hungry, just eat some of it.”
Shi Yunjii looked at her.
She suddenly used her mouth to ask: [Did you know?]
Yan Ling avoided the question. “Why aren’t you using sign language?” She took Shi Yunjii’s hand. “You used to prefer expressing yourself with sign language, didn’t you? I can understand it now, just use sign language.”
Shi Yunjii shook her head: [I want to speak.]
Yan Ling looked at her throat. “Your voice…”
Shi Yunjii shook her head: [There’s nothing wrong with my body. It’s, it’s for other reasons.]
“Other reasons?” Yan Ling frowned. “A curse? A restriction? Or something else?”
She even placed her hand directly on Shi Yunjii’s throat, carefully feeling for something.
Shi Yunjii continued to shake her head: [It’s a psychological reason.]
Afraid that Yan Ling wouldn’t understand, she explained: [It’s just… I myself don’t want to make a sound. This obsession has formed a psychological illness.]
Yan Ling instinctively asked, “Why?” After realizing, she lowered her gaze somewhat sadly. “…Do you want to talk about it?”
[Now is not the time to talk about this.] Shi Yunjii sighed softly.
She looked at Yan Ling: [You know my identity, don’t you?]
At the Flying Immortal Sect convention, the situation was urgent, and she completely disregarded concealing herself, thinking only of saving Yan Ling.
In the beginning, when the situation was severe, it was possible that Yan Ling hadn’t noticed. But now that they were safe, Yan Ling must have realized that she was not the real “Yunjii.” What Shi Yunjii wanted to do now was to tear down this thin wall between them.
“Yes.” Yan Ling tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear. “You are my Divine Being.”
Saying this, she embraced Shi Yunjii, and her voice trembled slightly as she called out again: “Divine Being… my, Divine Being.”
