Lin Zhao, a 21st-century college student, was struck by a bolt of lightning and transmigrated into a 19th-century British literary masterpiece.
The Good News: She has been a “solo stan” of the protagonist for ten years. Meeting her in person is a dream come true. The Bad News: No one in the entire world can see her except for Jane.
Lin Zhao: “?” I’ve turned into a ghost!
Young Jane says nothing; she simply hides under her covers in pure terror.
Lin Zhao: “Wait, wait! I’m your Fairy Godmother. I will leave the day you become happy!”
Jane peeks out from the blankets: “Deal!”
True to her word and armed with the original plot, Lin Zhao decides to give Jane’s life a total makeover. Lowood School? Becoming a governess? “Running away for love”? Begone!
A prestigious school? Enroll! Good friends? Make them! A rich uncle? Head straight to Madeira to reunite immediately, accept his training, and start a business!
Ten years flow by like water. Sitting in the grand manor of the newly titled aristocrat, Jane Eyre, Lin Zhao feels immense pride. She is simply waiting for the “Happiness Settlement” so she can go home. Unexpectedly, a thunderclap sounds, and suddenly everyone is screaming because they can finally see her.
Lin Zhao: “?” Wait, isn’t the reward supposed to be going home? I don’t want to be a human in this era!
She turns to explain the accident to Jane, only to meet a pair of incredibly burning, tear-filled eyes. “Please… stay by my side forever, okay?”
That night, they have a heart-to-heart talk under the covers, just like always. But the atmosphere feels somewhat unusual. Until she is pressed into the bed by a soft body, skin against skin, as the temperature rises.
Lin Zhao finally realizes: Wait… is there something wrong with the way this plot is going?
–Jane’s Perspective–
When she was ten, a ghost crashed into Jane’s life. The young girl, whom only she could see, promised to bring her happiness. Life indeed changed because of her presence. She met kind people, mastered vast knowledge, reunited with relatives, set foot on distant lands, and understood the great world. Eventually, as her career flourished, her name became famous.
The ghost cheered for every bit of her growth. As she approached worldly “happiness,” Jane gave birth to an extremely bold doubt: “If I want to kiss her… will she still smile and accept it?”
