- Chapter 7 - Repaying the Life-Saving Debt with Her Body
“No.” Pei Suyu rejected her with cold, merciless finality.
“Teacher Pei, how can you be so heartless?”
Gan Lu blinked her wide eyes at her, her gaze a silent accusation: I’m already so pitiful, can’t you just be a little nicer to me?
Pei Suyu had long since become immune to these manipulative little tricks. She didn’t even bother to roll over, simply spitting out a chilling response: “Turn left, get out, and close the door. I’m going to sleep.”
Gan Lu stomped her foot in frustration. Biting her lip, she stood there stubbornly, unmoving as a tree stump.
The two of them locked into a silent stalemate.
The girl clutched her pillow piteously, her eyes blinking rapidly as a mist began to gather in them.
Pei Suyu was momentarily speechless. She didn’t know how this girl had mastered the art of crying on command, but she happened to be someone who couldn’t stand tears. Her face darkened. “Don’t you dare cry. You’re the one making a scene out of nothing, and now you act like you’re the victim?”
As if on cue, the moment she finished speaking, Gan Lu’s tears began to fall—patter, patter—sliding down her fair cheeks and dripping onto the cream-colored pillow, leaving a large damp stain.
The girl sobbed, and as if feeling embarrassed, she wiped her eyes with the back of her hand, hitching her breath. “W-wah… you’re being so mean to me. Even my mom has never been this mean.”
Pei Suyu’s patience finally snapped. Irritated, she sat up and walked over to Gan Lu.
Standing at 160cm (5’3″), Gan Lu looked weak and helpless in front of the 170cm (5’7″) Pei Suyu. She took a small, frightened step back.
Pei Suyu reached out and pinched the girl’s chin. With a low sigh, she gently brushed away the tears with her thumb.
Just as Gan Lu’s eyes lit up—thinking Pei Suyu had softened and was about to break into a smile—Pei Suyu gave her a firm shove toward the door.
“Don’t cry anymore. Tears don’t work on me,” she said bluntly. “If you want to stay here, be a good girl and listen. Go back to sleep. Now.”
Slam. She shut the door.
After heartlessly locking the girl out, Pei Suyu lay back down. But just as she was trying to summon sleep, she caught a faint whiff of pheromones in the air.
Great. Bitter melon again.
Annoyed, she reached out to turn on the aromatherapy diffuser on her nightstand, intentionally ignoring the faint, seemingly aggrieved scent. But before long, the sparse aroma grew thick and intense, a bitterness so deep it felt like it was turning her heart sour.
Accompanied by the distracting scent was the sound of muffled, heartbroken sobbing from the hallway.
Unable to maintain her composure, Pei Suyu finally lost the battle. She got up and yanked the door open.
The moment the door opened, the girl came tumbling in. Clutching her little pillow, she sat down with a thud right by Pei Suyu’s legs.
Clearly, she had been crouching with her back against the door the entire time; otherwise, she wouldn’t have rolled in with such an undignified tumble.
Gan Lu practiced the philosophy of “staying where you fall.” She remained half-seated against Pei Suyu’s legs, rubbing her eyes while throwing a tantrum. “I don’t care! You let me in, so you can’t kick me out again!”
Pei Suyu’s hardened heart finally softened. Looking down, she saw the girl curled up, clutching her legs. Her camisole dress had bunched up, revealing a pair of pale, slender legs.
Pei Suyu’s gaze darkened, and her breath hitched for a split second.
Though she was immune to the biological pull of pheromones, she was still a normal woman who was attracted to women. Facing such a beautiful body, she couldn’t help but have a natural reaction. Honestly, taking in such a “time bomb” was a true test of her willpower.
Steadying herself, Pei Suyu averted her eyes and scolded her, using the moment as a distraction. “Get up. What is this supposed to be?”
As much as Gan Lu hated to admit it, the moment Pei Suyu put on a stern face, she instinctively cowered. She stood up obediently, peeking at Pei Suyu like a guilty elementary student waiting for a punishment.
Pei Suyu said nothing, watching with a half-smile to see what other “demon tricks” she had up her sleeve.
With her head lowered, Gan Lu silently took one step toward the bed… then another… she was almost within reach.
Her heart leaped with careful joy. Teacher Pei must have softened. She’s not kicking me out!
When she was only one step away, the girl leaped onto the bed like an agile deer. She grabbed the quilt and wrapped herself in it, leaving only a tiny head poking out as she bluffed with little confidence.
“Teacher Pei, if you don’t say anything, I’ll take it as a ‘yes.’ I’m sleeping here tonight.”
“Fine. You sleep here,” Pei Suyu agreed instantly.
Gan Lu’s eyes widened with surprise. But then, Pei Suyu let out a cold laugh and turned to the door. “You sleep here alone. I’m going to the guest room.”
She left without a second glance, leaving behind a cold, heartless silhouette.
Gan Lu was stunned.
As the “cuckoo” who had successfully occupied the nest, she had secured her territory but chased away the very bird she was after. She didn’t know whether to be happy or sad.
Teacher Pei is just too difficult. But I’m not giving up.
Propping her head up, Gan Lu started looking for excuses to comfort herself. Suddenly, a spark of inspiration hit her—a perfect explanation for why Pei Suyu was so resistant to sleeping with her.
It’s not because she hates me! It’s because she’s ‘incapable’! Think about it—holding a beautiful, cute Omega like me and having zero reaction… wouldn’t her ‘illness’ be totally exposed?
The more Gan Lu thought about it, the more she felt that Teacher Pei was working hard to protect her secret. She immediately felt a wave of sympathy for the woman’s previous “heartlessness.”
She even swore a silent oath: They say the only way to repay a life-saving debt is with one’s body. I have to find a way to cure Teacher Pei.

Completely unaware that she had been labeled “incapable,” Pei Suyu fell asleep in the guest room. She was a deep sleeper who usually stayed out until dawn.
But when she woke up, she felt a warm, small head nestled in her arms. Pei Suyu was utterly bewildered.
Am I dreaming?
She rubbed her eyes to confirm she was indeed awake. Her face darkened instantly as she shoved the girl out of her embrace. “How did you get in here?!”
Gan Lu opened her bleary eyes and complained irritably, “What are you doing? I haven’t finished my sleep yet.”
Looking at her nonchalant attitude, Pei Suyu was genuinely furious. She could tolerate a tantrum or two, but this endless, boundary-crossing pestering had officially hit her “landmine.”
She grabbed the girl’s shoulders, her voice as cold as a mountain of unmelting ice.
“Gan Lu, my patience has limits.” Pei Suyu gave the sleepy girl a few seconds to adjust, then said every word with icy precision. “I’m giving you two choices: either you leave right now, or you follow my rules. I don’t like repeating myself. When I say ‘no’ to something, don’t dream for a second that throwing a tantrum will change my mind.”
The grip on her shoulders hurt, and seeing Pei Suyu’s livid expression, Gan Lu was terrified. “I’m sorry, Teacher… please don’t be mad!” she stammered.
Pei Suyu let go and pointed to the door. “Out.”
Seeing that her teacher was truly angry, Gan Lu obediently retreated. Clutching her pillow, she walked out, looking back piteously at every step, and carefully clicked the door shut.
Pei Suyu pressed her fingers to her temples in despair, trying to calm herself down.
In truth, she was a person of very few emotional outbursts. Years of teaching had cultivated a calm and restrained temperament; no matter how mischievous a student was, she rarely lost her cool. But this Gan Lu… she really had a talent for provoking her.
Pei Suyu even began to hesitate—should she really keep this trouble magnet? But she wasn’t cold-blooded. The thought of Gan Hu putting Gan Lu through such misery in the original story made her feel that a girl in the prime of her youth shouldn’t have to endure such trauma. Her heart softened again.
Sigh. After a long, weary breath and some mental gymnastics to repair her crumbling sanity, Pei Suyu picked up her phone to call Gan Feng.
She had called yesterday, but Gan Feng had been too busy for more than a few words. This time, she felt it was necessary to have a proper talk with the girl’s mother.
The call connected quickly. Pei Suyu explained the previous day’s events and then asked in a consultative tone, “CEO Gan, if you are willing to trust me, you could let Gan Lu stay with me for a while. I will educate her properly.”
There was a pause on the other end. “Teacher Pei, I’m truly sorry for the trouble. Let me speak with Lu Lu first before giving you an answer.”
Pei Suyu didn’t push. She hung up and lay back down, deciding to take a “return-to-sleep” nap to soothe her shocked heart.

Meanwhile, the evicted Gan Lu was lying on her bed, ready to complain to her best friend, when her phone rang.
Seeing it was her mother, she hesitated before picking up with an unwilling “hello.”
“Gan Lu, have you lost your mind? An Omega just follows an Alpha home like that? Do you have any idea how serious your condition is? What if your heat flares up and Pei Suyu can’t control herself? You’ll regret it for the rest of your life!” Gan Feng’s tone was accusatory, but the underlying concern was unmistakable.
Hearing this, Gan Lu couldn’t help but defend her teacher. “Teacher Pei wouldn’t do anything to me, Mom. She’s… well, she’s ‘incapable’.”
“What?” Gan Feng was shocked by this sudden bit of gossip. “What nonsense are you talking about?”
“Mom, do you really think I’m that stupid?” Gan Lu let out a weary sigh and explained, “The pheromones make me dependent on her, so I want to be near her to feel safe. But haven’t you thought about it? My heat has flared up so many times, and she hasn’t even touched me with a single finger!”
“Last night, I even tried to sleep in her bed, and she was so angry she kicked me out! She was still mad just now. If she truly had predatory designs on me, would she act like that?”
Gan Lu, sounding like a detective reaching the final deduction, said decisively: “The result is simple. Teacher Pei is ‘incapable’.”
Even Gan Feng seemed convinced by her daughter’s logic. She confirmed once more, “She… she really is ‘incapable’?”
“Really.”
Seeing her mother wavering, Gan Lu immediately doubled down on the persuasion. “Mom, staying home alone is miserable. I really want to be with Teacher Pei. Think about it—since she’s ‘incapable,’ she can’t possibly hurt me. My mood will be stable, and I can even use the time to study. Maybe I’ll actually get into university next year. Isn’t that killing several birds with one stone?”
For once, all of Gan Lu’s intelligence was focused on this one goal. She successfully convinced Gan Feng. The mother sighed. “Fine. Since she’s ‘incapable,’ if you want to stay there, then stay for a while.”
“Thank you, Mom! I love you the most!” Gan Lu immediately launched into her standard flattery routine.
