- Transmigrated As an Alpha, The Female Lead Cried in My Arms.
- Chapter 17 - She Actually Hesitated!
Pei Suyu caught a whiff of the lingering pheromones drifting around her. It was subtle, weaving through the air in delicate threads—far more comfortable than the intense, pungent scents from before.
It smelled like light green tea.
Crisp and clean, with a faint, sweet aftertaste.
Of all the various pheromones she had smelled on Gan Lu, this was the first that actually felt soothing, even a bit intoxicating.
Her body, too, seemed to experience an unexpected change. A strange, inexplicable heat rose within her. The Alpha pheromones that had remained dormant and unresponsive since she transmigrated were suddenly stirring with a restless, nameless urge.
The Alpha inside her was awakening.
Pei Suyu reacted instantly, suppressing the impulse and keeping her pheromones tightly locked away.
But Gan Lu’s scent seemed to sense her reaction. It shifted from faint to rich, lingering and seductive, as if slowly coaxing her out.
Gan Lu’s small hand wasn’t idle either; she couldn’t help but sneak a finger out to poke Pei Suyu’s skin. The girl’s fingertips were scalding. Her whole body glowed like a boiled shrimp as her cheeks flushed deep red. She let out a soft, gulping breath. “Teacher Pei…”
Pei Suyu’s face darkened, and her voice dropped several octaves as she called the girl’s full name. “Gan Lu.”
Not Lu Lu, but Gan Lu.
There was a hint of restraint and a clear warning in that elegant voice.
Gan Lu jolted. She suddenly remembered Ying Zi’s advice: Alphas might like passionate women, but their innate desire for conquest means they value an Omega who plays hard to get. You must remain reserved. Don’t just stick to her, or you’ll lose all the romantic tension.
Gan Lu once again cursed her “simp-like” pheromones in her mind. She took the initiative to back away, creating space between them and wrapping herself tightly in the quilt.
Looking at Pei Suyu with watery eyes, she said softly, “I-I’m sorry, Teacher Pei. I didn’t mean to. I just… can’t quite control my pheromones. Maybe you should go out… I’ll sleep by myself.”
AAAHHH!!! Why did I have to say that?! I really want her to stay! What if she actually turns around and leaves?!
Is Ying Zi’s advice even reliable?
Gan Lu was frantically second-guessing herself, her nerves on edge. Finally, she just closed her eyes. Sigh, I’ll leave it to fate!

Watching the girl looking so fragile and broken, a flash of pity crossed Pei Suyu’s heart. She let out a silent sigh. The movement she’d started to get up stalled, and she remained on her side, unmoving.
“It’s alright,” she said, her voice softening. “You can’t help being sick. Tell me… what’s really going on?”
Holy crap, Ying Zi’s teaching actually works!
Gan Lu was cheering internally, though she worked hard to suppress her pheromones. Steady, keep it steady. She finally softened enough to stay.
She peeked out with two piteous, innocent eyes. As she began to recall the source of her sadness, her gaze gradually dimmed. “Teacher Pei… I just started thinking about the past, and I got really sad. I just wanted someone to talk to.”
Gan Lu slowly told the story of her childhood to Pei Suyu, her voice hitching. “I really want to go see Mom Lin, but she truly hates me. I… I don’t know how to make her happy. I’m so scared she’ll never forgive me.”
“A long time ago at school, I used to be so jealous of other kids who had two parents with them. I only ever had one. Even when my sister had parent-teacher meetings, Mom Lin would sometimes be lucid enough that both moms would go with her. But for me… it was always just one.”
By the end, her long lashes trembled, and a single tear slid silently onto the pillow, quivering before it was absorbed.
This time, Gan Lu’s crying was restrained—completely different from her usual dramatic “fake” sobbing. Perhaps out of embarrassment, she pulled the quilt over her face and let out small, muffled whimpers.
Pei Suyu could only sigh. She couldn’t fix the past, so she carefully pulled the quilt back to reveal the girl’s tear-streaked eyes. “It isn’t your fault,” she said gently. “There’s no need to take all that guilt onto your own shoulders.”
“Thank you, Teacher Pei. I… I feel a lot better just talking about it.” Gan Lu reached out an arm, acting spoiled in a cautious way. “But I still feel a little bad. Can you… comfort me a bit?”
This was a difficult task for Pei Suyu. She wasn’t naturally sentimental or skilled at comforting people. She froze for a second, then asked bluntly, “How do you want me to comfort you?”
Faced with such a “straight-woman” response, Gan Lu didn’t look annoyed. Instead, she tilted her head seriously, thinking. “Teacher Pei… can you give me a hug?”
Pei Suyu didn’t hesitate. She reached out, pulled the girl into her arms, and gently patted her back.
I love the gentle version of Teacher Pei so much, Gan Lu thought with secret delight. She snuggled deeper into the embrace and said in an even more vulnerable voice, “I… I feel much better now. Teacher Pei, could you… give me a kiss?”
Pei Suyu’s hand paused on the girl’s back. She lifted her eyelids to look at her, her dark eyes filled with a complex swirl of emotions. Gan Lu felt a sudden surge of anxiety.
Was I too bold again?
Her heart pounded nervously. She quickly tried to backtrack: “Just… just a kiss on the forehead is fine. Since Mom Gan went on her trip, it’s been a long time since anyone told me ‘goodnight’.”
Those watery eyes gazed back at her, clear and calm as a pool of water, seemingly without a shred of hidden desire. Pei Suyu couldn’t help but think: Maybe I’m the one overthinking it.
To Gan Lu, this was likely just a simple dependency. After all, the age gap was significant, and with the pheromones involved, Gan Lu had likely mistaken this dependency for romantic love.
Pei Suyu couldn’t say if she felt more relieved or disappointed by this realization. Ultimately, she couldn’t refuse. She lifted her hand to pinch the girl’s chin, leaned in, and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead.
The moment their skin touched, Pei Suyu felt something awaken deep within. Her pheromones shivered again. She suppressed them and pulled back slightly, looking down at the girl’s fluttering eyelashes.
This girl would look beautiful if she were bullied into crying on a bed.
The dark thought flashed through Pei Suyu’s mind, followed immediately by a shock of self-recognition. She silently masked her expression.
Meanwhile, Gan Lu—eyes still closed—was practically screaming with joy. She kissed me! Teacher Pei kissed me! An internal “marmot” shrieked in her head. She was so excited she felt like she could fly.
But she remembered Ying Zi’s lesson: Stay reserved. Use softness. Attract her attention like a gentle rain; don’t scare her away.
She desperately suppressed the urge to ask: Teacher Pei, can I touch your abs now?
After steadying her breath, Gan Lu opened her eyes and retreated weakly back into her covers. She peeked at Pei Suyu. “Then… goodnight, Teacher Pei.”
The Gan Lu tonight was polite, sensible, and knew when to retreat. It left Pei Suyu slightly dazed.
She didn’t say another word. She turned, left the bedroom, and went to the study. She pulled down the copy of The Heiress’s Revenge and began to flip through it carefully.
Perhaps if I study the plot well enough, I can truly protect her.
