Transmigrated as a Scummy Alpha: The Wife-Chasing Crematorium - Chapter 2
A Rolls-Royce was parked at the base of the red-carpeted stairs.
Seeing Shen Luoxi descend, the driver stepped out and opened the car door for her. Shen Luoxi leaned in and sat down. Once the driver was back in his seat, she instructed, “Go home, to the home I share with Pei Yu.”
“Yes, Miss,” the driver replied as he started the engine.
Outside, the night was hazy and the traffic flowed endlessly. To better survive in this world, and to prevent the female lead from darkening and eventually killing her, Shen Luoxi began to recall the plot following the bar scene.
She remembered that in the bar, shortly after the original Shen Luoxi had forcibly marked Pei Yu, Pei Yu’s heat cycle began. Having arrived in a hurry, Shen Luoxi had not brought any suppressants. The intense scent of sandalwood released in front of a group of Alphas was practically lethal.
The original Shen Luoxi had lost control, dragging Pei Yu to a small back room to torment her in various ways. The Alphas outside, stimulated by Pei Yu’s pheromones, watched with bloodshot eyes. However, they did not dare touch Shen Luoxi’s woman; instead, they turned to the Omegas beside them, frantically tearing at their clothes.
For a moment, the private booth was a scene of total chaos. Yet, no matter how wild these people became, they only vented their desires on the Omegas’ bodies. They did not dare touch, let alone mark, the glands at the back of their necks.
This was because the author’s world-building dictated that Alphas could only mark their wives after turning eighteen and getting married. If an Alpha marked an Omega who was not their spouse, the Union would forcibly take them away and downgrade them to a Beta. This was a permanent, life-long change.
Such a punishment was fatal for an Alpha, and even the original Shen Luoxi did not dare violate it lightly. Although she indulged in every kind of vice, she had never marked an Omega until that night with Pei Yu.
An Omega can only be marked once in their life. Now, Pei Yu would either die or be tethered to Shen Luoxi forever. This must have been why Pei Yu eventually chose to take Shen Luoxi down with her.
Thinking of this, Shen Luoxi could not help but feel a pang of sympathy for the poor female lead. However, she knew that now that she was Shen Luoxi, she would protect her and give her a beautiful future.
In less than half an hour, the car entered the residential complex. After their marriage, Shen Luoxi and Pei Yu had moved into a high-end, extremely private apartment in the city center. With only one unit per floor, even if Pei Yu screamed her lungs out inside, no one would come to save her.
As Shen Luoxi stepped off the elevator, she saw the door was ajar and light was spilling out. Pei Yu must be back. She cautiously pushed the door open and stepped inside.
The apartment was vast, featuring a sophisticated, modern minimalist design. A feng shui painting worth tens of millions hung in the entrance hallway, while extravagant crystal chandeliers dangled overhead. The floors were covered in hand-woven wool carpets.
Shen Luoxi had lived a similar lifestyle in her original world, so the luxury did not shock her. However, she was baffled by her predecessor’s taste: why on earth were there green and red crystal lights in the living room? The lighting made the place look like the underworld, grim and eerie.
Shen Luoxi shuddered. She turned around, found the light switches by the entrance, and quickly swapped the haunting red and green glow for warm yellow and bright white. The atmosphere instantly became cozy and harmonious.
“That’s more like it,” she muttered to herself.
Suddenly, a clatter broke the silence. Something had fallen off a table, followed by the slow drift of a familiar sandalwood scent into the living room.
Pei Yu?
Shen Luoxi followed the scent to the study. Inside, she saw ballpoint pens and various items scattered across the patterned floor. The smell of sandalwood grew thicker. As Shen Luoxi inhaled the scent, her body began to feel inexplicably hot.
She instinctively reached up to tug at her shirt collar, wanting to strip her clothes off. She felt as though she were about to go up in smoke.
“Mmm… ah… nngh…”
Shen Luoxi froze. Despite her lack of experience, she had seen enough movies and read enough novels to recognize those sounds. Her legs felt weak, but she managed to stagger toward the corner of the study.
As she rounded the corner, Pei Yu came into view. She was huddled on the floor, her slender frame trembling as she pressed her hand firmly against the back of her neck, trying to suppress something.
“Pei Yu,” Shen Luoxi called out, her voice trembling as desire surged through her.
Hearing the voice, Pei Yu looked up. Her cold eyes were filled with murderous intent. “Shen Luoxi, if you dare touch me, I will take you down with me.”
Listening to her, Shen Luoxi’s breathing became heavier. She felt like she was trapped in a furnace, while Pei Yu’s voice was like winter ice. The contrast was intoxicating, and she craved that coldness to soothe her heat.
Shen Luoxi’s vision blurred as the heat rose to her head. It felt as though she would spontaneously combust at any moment.
“Pei Yu… Pei Yu…” she murmured.
“No, absolutely not!” Shen Luoxi suddenly snapped back to reality. She could not touch her. If they ended up dying together, it would be game over for her.
Propping herself up, she stumbled back a few steps. Recalling the plot, she managed to say, “The suppressant is in the compartment of the right-side drawer. Pull it open, it’s in there.”
In the original book, Shen Luoxi had hidden all the suppressants in the house to force Pei Yu to beg for her help during her heat.
Without looking back, Shen Luoxi rushed to the master bedroom and dove into the bathroom. She did not even take her clothes off before turning on the cold water.
The icy stream drenched her, sending a chill through her body. Shen Luoxi shivered violently. She realized that this was an Omega’s heat, which explained why Alphas in these stories lost their minds. It was like a potent aphrodisiac.
She stayed under the water for ten minutes until the fire in her blood subsided. When she finally turned off the shower, she was soaked to the bone. She grabbed a white towel from the wall to dry her hair as she stepped out.
The sandalwood scent had faded, leaving only a faint, lingering fragrance. Seeing no sign of Pei Yu in the bedroom or living room, Shen Luoxi figured she was still in the study. She walked back, drying her hair as she went.
With her damp hair draped over her shoulders and her colorful shirt clinging to her, her sharp yet feminine features gave her a roguish charm. This was the aura the top Alpha in Jiang City should have.
When she re-entered the study, the scent was still stronger there, but manageable. She walked toward the corner and found Pei Yu still sitting there, looking like a startled rabbit. Beside her lay an empty, torn-open suppressant packet.
Shen Luoxi looked down at her. The book had described Pei Yu as a transcendent beauty, cold, elegant, and aloof. Seeing her up close, Shen Luoxi realized the description did not do her justice. She was breathtaking.
Coming back to her senses, Shen Luoxi lowered her towel, intending to help Pei Yu up from the cold floor. But she did not notice the baseball bat on the ground and slipped. She quickly steadied herself and reached down to pick it up.
As she moved the bat, Pei Yu suddenly flinched, pulling her limbs in and shielding her head in a defensive posture.
Shen Luoxi’s heart ached. Pei Yu was afraid of being beaten. The original Shen Luoxi had been a frequent domestic abuser, using anything like baseball bats, badminton rackets, or belts to strike Pei Yu. She had even slammed Pei Yu’s head against cabinets until she bled.
In front of Pei Yu, Shen Luoxi turned and tossed the bat into the trash can. She then turned back and reached out to help her. “I’m not going to hit you. I just don’t want you catching a cold on the floor.”
“Hypocrite,” Pei Yu sneered, violently shaking off her hand.
Sensing the resistance, Shen Luoxi raised her hands and stepped back to maintain a safe distance. “Don’t worry. I said I would not touch you again, and I meant it. From tonight on, I’m moving into the guest room. Just consider it a sudden change of heart.”
Shen Luoxi did not try to curry favor. Given her current reputation, she knew that earning trust would be a long process.
Pei Yu’s sharp gaze remained full of disbelief. Shen Luoxi lowered her hands, left the study, and went to the walk-in closet to pack a few clothes and toiletries. She moved into the guest room and did not come out again.
Pei Yu did not believe for a second that she had changed. Once the house was silent, she stood up, went to the study door, and locked it. Not feeling safe enough, she dragged the sofa from the window to block the door. Only then did she finally allow herself to breathe.
