- Chapter 3 - The Holy Light Thermos
Bai Rui was faced directly with those surging pectoral muscles, feeling as if his entire body was pressed against the Black Dragon.
His waist was still being firmly gripped.
Those hands were large, with calluses on the palms. For some reason, even through his clothes, he felt that coarse skin rubbing against the side of his waist, making it feel a bit… itchy.
Bai Rui suddenly felt the location of the gland on the back of his neck burning.
When did his body become so… sensitive?
He looked up, and his gaze happened to collide with the grinning Black Dragon.
That row of small white teeth, paired with snowy-white canines, looked even more terrifying than a Golden Snake’s bite force.
“Noble Highness, would you like me to check for you?”
Bai Rui’s vision blurred for a moment before refocusing. Glancing past the Black Dragon’s pointed ears, he saw a massive oil painting on the wall.
The painting was over a person’s height, embedded in a golden, intricately patterned frame. Even hanging in such a vast room, its size didn’t seem cramped.
Against a mottled, coffee-green background sat a man with silver hair.
His shoulders were very broad, filling out the shoulders of his dark patterned black robe.
In a three quarter profile bust composition, the man’s large hands were crossed over each other. The lines of his chin were cold and solemn, his thin lips pursed, and his chin slightly raised, seemingly looking down on all living beings. However, his eyes were covered by a three finger wide strip of lace, revealing only the hints of his high nasal bridge and deep eye sockets.
This was… the Sorcerer Emperor, Qi Li.
Bai Rui subconsciously swallowed. He had only gone out to buy screentones and tracing paper, how could he have known that after a burst of thick fog, he would inexplicably arrive in this world…
He remembered that day happened to be Halloween. The streets were covered in dark pumpkin decorations, especially the alley by the university entrance. However, since it was late, most shops had already closed, leaving only strings of small lights glowing at the entrances.
It was a dim night in November in the North. The cold snap had arrived early, and the air was filled with a heavy dose of biting chill.
Holding his art supplies, Bai Rui turned a street corner and suddenly saw several familiar backs.
The tallest boy in the middle was Senior Lai from the manga project team. The gift box he was waving in his hand was the birthday present Bai Rui had just given him earlier that day.
“Haha, I heard that pretty freshman boy, Bai Rui, confessed to you?”
one boy laughed loudly.
“Not just a confession, did you just say he gave you a love letter and a gift too? You really know how to take advantage of joining the manga club, don’t you?”
“Tsk tsk, being confessed to by a ‘campus level’ little beauty who caused a sensation as soon as he entered school, doesn’t your heart feel like it’s exploding with satisfaction?”
The boy holding the gift box wrapped in white ribbon gave a dismissive snort.
“What’s there to be satisfied about? He’s good-looking, sure, but it’s a pity his family is ordinary, they just run a small restaurant. Plus, he’s a Beta. My family’s tradition is to find someone who can carry on the lineage, he doesn’t even have the qualifications to enter my house. I just coaxed him with a few words and he took it seriously. Does he really think I’m some kind of gentle and polite ‘Senior Brother’?”
The people around him burst into fits of laughter.
The boy triumphantly raised the box. “I’ll take the gift, but that trashy love letter? I threw it away long ago.”
“Hahaha, you’re so good at faking it! You’re the man!”
The silhouettes of the several people vanished into the darkness, turning into bared teeth and claws shadow puppets.
Bai Rui watched those disappearing figures, his eyes reddening slightly. His breath condensed into white mist, dampening his long eyelashes.
After a moment of silence, Bai Rui lowered his lashes and crouched down in front of a trash can, picking up the so-called “love letter.”
The white envelope lay there, looking pitiful. But there was no love letter inside, instead, it contained two tickets to a Western Fantasy Oil Painting Exhibition.
Because Senior Lai said he liked oil paintings and that his birthday was coming up, the gift he hoped for most was to see an oil painting exhibition with Bai Rui. Meanwhile, Senior Qi in the manga group, the lead artist for the Sorcerer Emperor Qi Li, had also once invited Bai Rui to see an exhibition…
Bai Rui brushed the dust off the envelope, silently tucked it into his pocket, turned around, and walked toward the school, choosing the opposite direction from that group.
A fog had suddenly risen on the Halloween streets, shrouding the road in white.
The pumpkin decorations were almost invisible now. The street he had walked a thousand times and was incredibly familiar with seemed to suddenly stretch a long, long distance, never ending in the thick fog.
Bai Rui felt slightly dizzy and his eyes were fatigued. He had no way of judging how long he had been walking until he finally stepped out of the fog.
When he opened his eyes, he was lying in a castle on the Plains of Wind. As the eldest prince of the Human Race, he was forced to come for a political marriage, wearing some god awful high-slit qipao… to marry a man whose basic setting was to kill him…
“No need.”
Bai Rui’s eyes were cold as he reached out and brushed away the Black Dragon’s hand. “Let go.”
He pushed against that rock-hard chest, heartlessly pushing the man away.
“The snake didn’t bite me, and I dislike such impolite behavior.”
Then, Bai Rui tugged at his collar, straightening his formal attire until it was perfectly crisp.
There was a sense of aloofness in his eyes and brows.
The Black Dragon stepped back a few paces in disappointment. When he spoke softly, his eyes remained lingering longingly on Bai Rui’s face. “My apologies, Your Noble Highness.”
“It was my rudeness.”
Bai Rui touched the pocket watch on his chest, feeling a bit out of sorts. He turned to leave: “Forget it, the tour is more or less over. I’m tired, let’s end it here…”
“Highness, wait a moment.”
Unexpectedly, the Black Dragon, with an expression of excitement he couldn’t hide, blocked Bai Rui’s path.
“Why not finish the tour? There are some very ‘impressive’ things you haven’t seen yet.”
He placed a heavy emphasis on the word “impressive.”
Bai Rui didn’t quite understand. He watched as the Black Dragon tugged at the chest of his tight-fitting tailcoat and puffed out his chest with inexplicable pride: “Here are everyone’s magic wands.”
Bai Rui wasn’t sure why magic wands would be “impressive,” as he didn’t understand every single setting of this world.
“What about the magic wands?”
Despite the question, Bai Rui was clearly losing interest.
The Black Dragon insisted on showing him, mysteriously leading him to a wall covered by a red velvet curtain.
“They are truly impressive, you’ll know in a moment.”
As he spoke, he grabbed a golden cord to the side and even cleared his throat.
“Ahem, please look here.”
With that, the red velvet curtain fell with a shua, revealing a neatly arranged wall of magic wands.
The overhead lights flickered with the glow of flames, illuminating the entire wall and outlining the various shapes and sizes of the wooden wands.
These wands varied significantly in thickness and height, some were thin and spindly, while others were thick and long.
Bai Rui subconsciously thought of a certain Potter, but these wands were clearly more for display than for practical use, and they seemed quite different from that world.
“Honorable Highness.”
The Black Dragon grinned and said, “Look, this one is mine. Impressive, right?”
He pointed very proudly to one of the longest wands. He seemed proud for no apparent reason, standing tall with his chest out, the buttons of his white shirt nearly bursting under his tailcoat.
“Black Dragon, what are you showing off for?” A lazy voice suddenly rang out.
Bai Rui looked up and saw a sleek, black cat lying on the windowsill at some unknown time.
Noticing Bai Rui looking at it, it pushed itself up, arched its back, and gave a trembling stretch.
Then, the black cat turned its face and suddenly spoke: “You’re so boring, bragging about your ‘second brother’s’ length again.”
Length of… what?
Bai Rui was stunned. The Black Dragon bared his teeth at the black cat. “Stupid cat, who let you in?”
The black cat pressed its front paws down and tilted its rear up for a stretch, its whiskers drooping from the effort.
“Just came to look.” It jumped noiselessly off the windowsill and trotted over, rubbing against the Black Dragon’s pant leg. “Weren’t you curious too? Replacing the original old potato butler and borrowing a clumsy set of tails just to see what he looks like?”
“Now you’ve seen him. Do you like him?”
“Heehee, liking him is useless anyway.”
The black cat trotted over and circled Bai Rui’s ankles once. “Hmm, he really is good-looking. Fragrant, soft, fair, and slender. Oriental beauties truly make a cat’s heart flutter!”
Bai Rui froze and didn’t move. He watched as the black cat gave him a smile, then jumped onto a table and sat upright. “Hello, noble Oriental beauty. I just finished burying something, so I won’t shake hands with you.”
Bai Rui’s smile was stiff as he forced a polite response: “Hello.”
Black Cat: “I’m doing quite well, it’s a pleasure to meet you.”
“This idiot Black Dragon can’t explain anything clearly. This wall of magic wands is actually a physical manifestation of one’s sexual capability. You should know, though our Sorcerer Demon race can live for thousands or tens of thousands of years, our fertility is unfortunately low. It takes thousands of years just to see a new life born. Therefore, the High Priest of the Ancient Sorcerer race prayed to the gods, and gradually, phallic worship was formed.”
The black cat explained it clearly in a few sentences.
The Black Dragon bared his teeth, his nose wrinkled in a look of aggression.
Bai Rui actually saw the black cat cast a look of disdain at the Black Dragon, even letting out a cold, mocking snicker.
“Truth be told, that idiot wasn’t wrong. Everyone’s magic wand is made according to the actual dimensions of their ‘second brother.’ Therefore, Princess, after you marry into the family, you will also need to have your dimensions measured to craft your magic wand.”
Awkward. Bai Rui’s ears involuntarily started to burn.
“I have to display mine too?”
This was far… too embarrassing.
The black cat gave a meaningful “Oh”: “Of course. If you’re too shy to let others measure you, it’s also acceptable for His Majesty the Sorcerer Emperor to personally take the measurements for you.”
Now things seemed even more awkward…
In the massive oil painting behind him, the man’s gaze seemed to be watching him through the lace.
Bai Rui felt a chill on his back and subconsciously squeezed his legs together, turning away.
The wall had a red brick base, with light shining directly onto the wands of various heights and thicknesses. Each wand gleamed with a primitive luster.
Then… what about the Sorcerer Emperor’s?
Bai Rui’s gaze scanned the wands again. He didn’t see any particularly eye-catching ones, besides the Black Dragon’s, the others looked relatively “user-friendly.”
Did that mean Sorcerer Emperor Qi Li’s was… approachable?
As a straight man, when this thought flashed through his mind, he startled himself, he must be crazy! To think he would feel a sigh of relief because he knew another man’s size was average!
The Black Dragon suddenly bellowed: “Stupid cat, stop being a nuisance. Your wand is in the children’s section, beat it!”
The black cat let out a high-pitched cry. “Dumb dragon, always showing off. What is there to brag about? Are you the longest? Not all the magic wands are here.”
These two seemed to be at odds constantly, tearing into each other the moment they met.
“Wait…”
The heart Bai Rui had just let down suddenly tightened again.
“The ones here aren’t all of them?”
“Of course not. This guy Black Dragon just doesn’t dare to say it.”
With that, the black cat jumped over in front of Bai Rui and bumped open a cabinet door.
The light inside the cabinet turned on, highlighting a wand that was both thick and long.
A wand as thick as a child’s arm rested quietly on the display rack. Its surface was gnarled with thick roots like an ancient tree stump, and most importantly, it was… quite long…
Bai Rui suddenly remembered that when their manga group was asked to depict the “Holy Light Thermos,” Senior Qi wasn’t there. The older female students had sat in front of him, grinning from ear to ear, intentionally drawing it huge…
Bai Rui: “…???”
The Sorcerer Emperor’s dimensions didn’t seem like much when he watched others draw them…
But seeing it actually placed before his eyes, it was this terrifying?!
While subconsciously squeezing his knees together in shock, Bai Rui couldn’t help but admire the “bottom” character in the manga. Who said he was weak, debt-ridden, and cowardly?
Anyone who could endure the nightly “torture” of this instrument of execution was a man of steel!
