- Chapter 1 - He Has a Hidden Weapon at the Root of His Thigh
Bai Rui’s porcelain cheeks were flushed with a faint pink. His gaze drifted toward a European style leather sofa in front of him, only to snap away as if he’d touched an electric fence. There were no venomous snakes or wild beasts on the sofa, only a single, red, high-slit cheongsam tossed carelessly upon it.
He closed his eyes, his chest heaving several times. Finally, accepting his fate, he stepped barefoot onto the plush carpet and walked over to pick up the thin fabric.
The silk-satin texture was a delight against the skin, but it only made the protagonist’s ears burn hotter.
With a grit of his teeth, Bai Rui finally pulled the cheongsam onto his body.
His slender, pale fingertips pinched the frog buttons, his pads pressing firmly to force the knots through the loops. His naturally fair, hairless legs lifted through the high slits of the dress. His beautifully shaped foot stepped onto the sofa, revealing a leather tactical harness strapped around his thigh.
The harness bit into his pale skin. Within its sheath sat a dagger with a ram headed hilt. The brass head of the ram showed black oxidation within its carved crevices, a mark of passing years.
The sheath was originally positioned toward the outside of the leg, but after a moment’s thought, Bai Rui shifted the weapon toward the root of his thigh.
The cold metal pressed against his skin, sending a numbing shiver up to his scalp.
A full length mirror stood nearby, perfectly capturing his current appearance. Bai Rui took only a single glance before his face began to burn with feverish heat. With the foreign object at the base of his leg, standing straight felt unnatural. The icy metal was not skin friendly, making it impossible to ignore.
“What kind of wedding attire is this? This is clearly erotic lingerie!”
Blushing with shame, Bai Rui tore the clothes off and threw them heavily onto the floor.
His transition from resistance to indignation was fueled by a sudden realization, tomorrow, he was to marry the master of this castle, the wicked Witch Emperor who had brought down natural disasters upon the world.
The Transmigration
A few days ago, Bai Rui had transmigrated into a picture book he had authored himself.
The moment he woke up and realized he had become the eldest prince in the manual, his world went dark. This was a magical world with a Western fantasy backdrop. The Kingdom of the Wind Plains had two princes: the mediocre, cannon fodder Eldest Prince, and the brave, fearless Second Prince.
The story revolved around the Second Prince and his delicate Omega prince from a neighboring kingdom. Of course, this was a BL (Boys’ Love) manga, featuring some very arrogant and excessively long “smut” scenes.
Readers cheered for the endless “action” between the Second Prince and the delicate Omega, while simultaneously mocking the foolish Eldest Prince for daring to covet his brother’s partner.
Bai Rui had the misfortune of becoming that universally loathed Eldest Prince. In the original plot, driven by a desperate need to prove himself, he attempted to assassinate the Witch Emperor, only to be turned into fertilizer in a flowerbed.
As for why the assassination had turned into a political marriage, the reason was equally nauseating.
Bai Rui sighed and changed out of the loathsome cheongsam. Facing away from the mirror, his back revealed a lean, pale silhouette. As he moved, the delicate play of muscle and bone rippled under his thin skin before being concealed by a white shirt pulled over his shoulders.
After the rustle of fabric, he donned a traditional aristocratic prince’s uniform:
- Inner layer: Pure white shirt.
- Outer layer: A sharp, black trench coat.
- Accessories: A black tie with a metal crest, a Pilots’ Wing badge on the left chest, and a National Honor Star below it.
- Details: Golden aiguillettes on the right shoulder and a gold pocket watch hanging at his chest.
A wide white belt cinched his slender waist tightly, just as tight as the leather harness on his thigh. Although the cheongsam was gone, the dagger remained hidden. While it wasn’t visible when he stood still, every step brought a friction that sent a tingling sensation through his mind.
He decided to keep the dagger hidden for now.
The Living Castle
“Distinguished Eldest Prince, the future Consort, have you rested enough?”
Bai Rui’s hand, still tucked under the pillow, froze. He looked toward the door in a panic. The heavy wooden door’s knocker swayed gently.
From outside came the faint sound of teasing and laughter. Someone hissed a sharp command for the others not to be impolite, and the giggling died down. The person at the door cleared their throat and spoke loudly.
“Before your wedding to His Majesty the Witch Emperor, it is customary to take you on a tour of Ice Badger Castle.”
The male voice vibrated through the wood. Bai Rui’s heart hammered as he recalled the description of the Witch Emperor from the manga.
Qi Li, the Witch Emperor:
- Appearance: Silver-white hair reaching his ankles, eyes permanently covered by a three finger wide lace blindfold.
- Domain: Ruler of the Witch Demon Dark Moon Lands, stationed in Ice Badger Castle.
- Character: Violent, cruel, and tyrannical. A flick of his finger could bring disasters upon humanity.
- The Twist: He is a super strong S-rank Alpha. In this world, such Alphas can easily impregnate other Alphas. However, the higher the rank of a Witch, the more restrictive their “Genetic Lock” becomes. The Emperor possessed the strongest lock of all.
“But that doesn’t stop him from playing around.” “He can play even ‘dirtier’ than most.” “He could probably play someone to death, is that why the cannon fodder Bai Rui became flower fertilizer?”
He remembered someone on the creative team making that joke, drawing a roar of laughter. Now, the memory only filled him with dread.
“Prince Consort, may you come out now?”
Bai Rui snapped back to reality. “Co… coming.”
He checked his clothes one last time and opened the door. With a long creak, the heavy wood swung open. Standing outside was a man in a tuxedo. He was unnaturally tall, bowing deeply to greet him. When he saw Bai Rui’s face, his eyes sparked with amazement.
“Apologies. I wasn’t the one serving you before, and this is my first time seeing a noble from the East. How should I put it? Ah, yes. I’ve been impolite.”
Bai Rui found it strange. If only this man was at the door, where did the sounds of pushing and giggling come from? He studied the man, a baby face, a nose that crinkled when he smiled to reveal two sharp little tiger teeth, and chest muscles so thick they nearly burst the seams of his ill-fitting tuxedo.
Bai Rui lowered his eyes and gave a calm “Mm.” “Lead the way.”
“Certainly, Prince Consort. This way, please.”
As a straight man who had transmigrated into this book, being called “Prince Consort” made Bai Rui want to ask if the man had an eye disease.
As the man turned, the vent in his tuxedo shifted, revealing a metallic armored scorpion tail, its hooked tip pointing toward the floor.
“You…”
The shock made Bai Rui lose his composure. As he pulled his room door shut, he used too much force. Caught by the draft from a hallway window, the door slammed with a thunderous BANG.
The sound stopped Bai Rui’s words, but more importantly, the door let out a roar: “Gently! You idiot!”
Bai Rui stared at the wooden door in shock, then at his own hand. The door just cursed at him?!
“Prince Consort, please pay no mind. This doorknob is old and has a foul temper, but it’s usually quiet. Do not worry.”
It was the doorknob. If the doorknob was alive, what about everything else in the room? Had they seen him hiding the knife? Were they laughing at him? Bai Rui fell into a stunned silence.
The Secret Revealed
The tall man in the tuxedo, his blonde hair tied in a thin braid, led the way through the castle. The walls and floors were made of ice bricks that glowed with a faint, ethereal blue light.
“This is our Emperor’s castle. It must be quite different from the castles in your human territories.”
They walked along a hallway lined with gold-trimmed blue carpets. The man’s tail would occasionally peek out from his coat, further fraying Bai Rui’s already numb nerves. After a while, they stopped before a staircase encased in glass like ice.
“Prince Consort, the inner chambers are currently off-limits. We will conclude after visiting the second floor. The oil paintings there were all hand painted by His Majesty himself. Please, go up.”
Bai Rui took a breath and stepped onto the stairs. After a few steps, the sensation underfoot felt wrong. It wasn’t just the thickness of the carpet, it felt squishy. Even stranger, there seemed to be something moving beneath the fabric, like fish with vertical fins swimming in circles.
Suddenly, the carpet and the stairs erupted in laughter.
“Look! Is this the Alpha prince sent for the marriage? So young!”
“Such fair skin, a beautiful Eastern face! What bad luck, doesn’t he know how terrifying our Witch Emperor is?”
“In human legends, our Emperor is a cold blooded killer who has lived for tens of thousands of years, an evil god who loves to toy with pretty young things! Hahaha!”
“More than that! He loves to pretend to be a weak human just to lure people into assassinating him, so he can play cruel little games! Wait… is this Alpha prince here for an assassination under the guise of marriage?”
“He’s so beautiful! I love his Eastern aesthetic. It would be such a waste if he were killed!”
The ripples under the carpet began to swarm toward Bai Rui’s feet until the tuxedoed man stomped his foot, forcing them to back off.
But then, the carpet beneath Bai Rui’s feet let out a shrill shriek.
“Wait! Something’s wrong! He’s not right!”
“He has a hidden weapon at the root of his thigh!”
“And he doesn’t seem to be an Alpha… he carries the scent of an Omega!!”
