Three Sentences That Made My Ex-Wife Spit Blood - Chapter 83
Time passed quickly, and soon it was Yan Qinglan’s birthday. The custom-made ring she had ordered finally arrived, perfectly timed for her to propose to Wen Huaxi again.
But unexpectedly, Wen Huaxi found the ring early.
In the living room, the two of them stood in front of the jewelry box in complete silence. The quiet was so heavy, it was almost deafening.
“Um… Sister Qing, I just opened it for a peek.”
She had thought it was one of the rings she had gifted Yan Qinglan, maybe one that had been taken off. So she opened the box to take a look.
But inside, the emerald gemstone sparkled so brilliantly it stung her eyes. She had shut it immediately.
Only then, with her ears burning, did Wen Huaxi realize this was the custom ring Sister Qing had ordered earlier.
It was meant to be a surprise.
And to make it worse, Yan Qinglan was standing right behind her when it happened.
There was no way to pretend she hadn’t seen it.
Yan Qinglan let out a soft sigh.
“Well, since you’ve already seen it, wouldn’t it be a waste not to propose today?”
She gently rubbed Wen Huaxi’s head. Her little kitten was always quick to notice things and had strong instincts. How could she blame her for it?
Besides, it was Yan Qinglan’s own fault for not hiding the ring better or carrying it with her.
“It’s fine, just give it to me now.”
Since Yan Qinglan didn’t seem upset, Wen Huaxi’s face lit up again. She reached for the box, ready to open it.
“We’re already like an old married couple. Sister Qing, were you planning to propose to me on your birthday?”
Yan Qinglan held onto her hand and took the box back.
“Yes, that was the plan. A proposal still matters. We’ve never had one, not in any lifetime.”
By the way, the agreement they had signed before was already quietly destroyed by Yan Qinglan.
“Alright,” Wen Huaxi said, slightly disappointed.
She had really been looking forward to swapping out the plain diamond ring on her finger. That green ring looked so much cooler.
Yan Qinglan somehow pulled out a bouquet of flowers and placed the ring box right in the center of the blooms.
“In the last life, I owed you a confession, a single ‘I love you.’ This time, I’ll say it more than once.”
She dropped to one knee in a perfect posture, clearly having practiced many times before.
Wen Huaxi couldn’t stop herself from smiling as she imagined Sister Qing secretly rehearsing in the hotel with their daughter while she was away filming.
She was supposed to look at the extravagant bouquet, but her eyes kept drifting back to Yan Qinglan instead.
“Wen Huaxi, you are the love of my life, in this lifetime and every lifetime. I only love you. Will you marry me?”
Yan Qinglan opened the ring box.
“Yes, yes, I will. I love you so much too.”
Wen Huaxi nodded rapidly like a little chick pecking at rice, then immediately reached out to try and pull Yan Qinglan up.
There were faint tears shimmering in her eyes.
To keep her from crying, Yan Qinglan stood up quickly.
Then she wrapped her arms around Wen Huaxi and gently slid the ring onto her finger.
Looking at her long eyelashes, now tipped with a tear, Yan Qinglan suddenly thought back to the beginning of this lifetime.
It had been early summer last year. She had watched Wen Huaxi cry then too, finding it adorable, wanting to tease her more.
Now she still found it adorable, but there was more tenderness in her heart. Except in special circumstances, she could not bear to see her Xiaoxi cry.
After putting the ring on, Wen Huaxi admired it under the light, then threw herself into Yan Qinglan’s arms.
“Sister Qing, today I want to…”
“You don’t want it?”
“I want you.”
Wen Huaxi rarely took the lead, but today she pressed Yan Qinglan down and kissed her fiercely, with no hesitation at all.
“Then let’s go to the bedroom,” Yan Qinglan replied softly, no longer resisting.
She was shy, but Wen Huaxi wanted her.
The two of them stumbled their way into the bedroom together.
Meanwhile, their daughter Wen Qingxun sat alone, sucking her finger in silence, completely forgotten by her two moms.
But since the proposal had gone well, she decided not to throw a tantrum.
She was truly pitiful. So young, and already carrying such emotional weight.
The wedding they never had was scheduled for the end of summer.
By then, Wen Huaxi had finished filming, and the dating show had wrapped up and aired in full.
She and Yan Qinglan planned the wedding together, and Wen Huaxi knew every detail by heart. Yan Qinglan had been so worried she might mess up that she dragged her into rehearsals every single day.
Now, Wen Huaxi was so over it, she didn’t even feel excited anymore.
While she was getting her makeup done, Yan Qinglan was also being prepped nearby, her head full of curling rods.
Wen Huaxi was chatting with her bridesmaids, currently refusing to speak to Sister Qing.
Left with no choice, Yan Qinglan closed her eyes and relaxed.
She had been the one lying down last night, and she really was a little tired.
Soon, Wen Suxue and Yan Mingzhu entered the dressing room.
“Sis, Mom. You’re here early.”
Wen Huaxi finally looked away from her phone.
“This is your once-in-a-lifetime wedding. Of course we came early,” Wen Suxue said as she set her things down and went to play with their daughter.
Yan Mingzhu had only recently learned that Wen Huaxi and Yan Qinglan had been in a fake marriage before.
No wonder they never had a proper wedding. They used to brush her off, saying they were too busy and things weren’t stable yet, and that they would hold a ceremony later.
Now, every time she looked at Yan Qinglan, she got irritated.
She had only ever pushed her daughter to get married because she wanted her to find real love. She didn’t want her to end up like herself, waiting too long and losing the chance.
She never expected her daughter to go through with a fake marriage just to satisfy her.
“Mom, don’t be mad. Sister Qing and I are really in love now,” Wen Huaxi said quickly to calm Yan Mingzhu down.
Her mother was clearly angry, and if Sister Qing tried to speak up, she would definitely get scolded.
“Oh, look at our sweet Xiaoxi. Knows exactly what to say. Unlike some people,” Yan Mingzhu said with a sharp tone, completely ignoring Yan Qinglan and turning to Wen Huaxi instead.
Now that the Gu worm once used to control her and drain her spirit was gone, Yan Mingzhu looked much better. Even the white hair had faded, and she appeared ten years younger than before.
Yan Qinglan shrank into the corner like a guilty quail, hoping her mom would go easy on her for Xiaoxi’s sake.
Wen Huaxi had only invited a few close friends. Wen Suxue, on the other hand, had invited many business partners.
Wen Huaxi scanned the guest list and noticed that some of the people who had wronged Wen Suxue in their previous life were also on it.
She quietly warned her sister, but Wen Suxue didn’t pay it much mind. She hadn’t interacted much with those names, so she didn’t care.
The Yan family, however, invited quite a crowd. Aside from the three families closest to Yan Qinglan, even distant relatives and side branches had received invitations.
The head of the family getting married was no small matter. Whether the guests showed up or not, they had to be informed.
As the ceremony drew near, Wen Suxue and Yan Mingzhu left early to greet guests at the entrance.
Wen Huaxi’s styling was finished. She peeked out and saw that the venue was nearly full.
They had chosen an outdoor wedding. The skies were clear, the early autumn weather was just right, and starting a little early meant it wouldn’t be too hot.
“Nervous?” Wen Huaxi asked as she exhaled and squeezed Yan Qinglan’s hand.
“I am. Because it’s with you.” That was why she didn’t want anything to go wrong.
Wen Huaxi hugged her. “It’s okay.”
She wasn’t sure who was comforting who.
“Yes. But I’m also excited.” Even though they had long since registered their marriage, and had already done everything married couples do.
The wedding felt like a symbol. A milestone. It meant they would be together from now on, living a happy life filled with harmony and love.
“Of course. Let’s go, Sister Qing.”
Wen Huaxi stood on tiptoe and gave Yan Qinglan a gentle kiss.
With that kiss, Yan Qinglan felt truly at peace.
The two of them made their way around from backstage to their designated spot and stepped out together.
The ceremony went smoothly, just like they hoped their relationship would in the future.
Afterward, Wen Huaxi pulled Yan Qinglan back to the dressing room as fast as possible, eager to remove the heavy and intricate wedding outfit.
“Thank goodness we wore flats,” Wen Huaxi said, breathing a sigh of relief. “If they were heels, I don’t even want to imagine it.”
“This is a once-in-a-lifetime wedding. Want me to help you?” Yan Qinglan asked, gently reaching for the hairpin in Wen Huaxi’s hair.
“Please do,” Wen Huaxi replied, happy to relax a little.
Yan Qinglan moved slowly on purpose.
They might be separated during the banquet while they greeted guests. She wanted to stay close to Wen Huaxi for as long as she could.
Their daughter, Wen Qingxun, was seated at the main table with Wen Suxue.
The main table was reserved for their closest family and friends, all of whom already knew their daughter and were eagerly taking turns playing with her.
Wen Qingxun had grown a lot since birth, but she still couldn’t crawl. She could only sit there, her face full of quiet frustration while being passed around.
When Wen Huaxi came by to offer a toast, she glanced at her daughter. Wen Qingxun only smiled when she saw her mom.
As soon as Wen Huaxi walked away, the little girl’s lips began to pout in silent protest.
“She’s got a bit of a temper,” Wen Suxue laughed, gently rubbing her niece’s cheeks, which only made Wen Qingxun more upset.
She knew it was a wedding. She knew even if she cried, her moms would not be able to come to her.
So she held it in and endured.
While going around to toast the guests, Wen Huaxi also saw someone from her past—Leng Yueshan.
Leng Yueshan was seated quietly, her complexion much healthier than before, her cheeks carrying a soft blush.
Beside her sat Meng Qingzhou, serving her food and chatting with her gently.
Leng Yueshan responded from time to time. Her gaze was still a bit distant, but not cold.
When she noticed Wen Huaxi, there was a brief moment of disorientation in her eyes.
But in the next breath, that feeling faded, and no pain followed.
“Qingzhou, do you think this means I’ve finally let go?” she asked as she accepted the toast from Wen Huaxi and even smiled at her.
“Yes, I think so,” Meng Qingzhou replied, sounding genuinely at ease.
The wedding ended perfectly. After sending off the final guests, Yan Qinglan and Wen Huaxi returned to their home with their daughter.
“Tonight is finally my turn, right?” Yan Qinglan asked the moment they stepped through the door, hugging Wen Huaxi tightly.
“Aren’t you tired?” Wen Huaxi replied with a teasing smile. “I’m exhausted.”
She pinched Yan Qinglan’s waist and added, “Besides, we have an early flight tomorrow.”
“We can wait until morning. You’re still on vacation,” Yan Qinglan reminded her.
They had already chosen their honeymoon destination. Their flight was scheduled for the afternoon.
“Tomorrow will be exhausting too,” Wen Huaxi sighed. With the popularity of her film and the dating show, even stepping outside required her to be completely wrapped up to avoid attention.
Their honeymoon was planned overseas, and the flight would take several hours.
“Alright, just two times then. You better behave. If you overdo it again, I’m ignoring you on the plane,” Wen Huaxi finally gave in.
The next day around noon, Wen Huaxi finally opened her eyes.
She should have known better. Yan Qinglan was just as dangerous as ever, inside and out.
She had said only two times, but each one had left her completely drained. Yan Qinglan never held back and seemed to take pleasure in pushing her limits, always stopping just short of letting her catch her breath.
Wen Huaxi had cried and begged her to stop, and Yan Qinglan had the nerve to call her cute and ask her to cry again.
Naturally, she kicked Yan Qinglan out of bed.
But soon after, she was pulled back in because Yan Qinglan still wasn’t satisfied.
They didn’t stop until very late.
Looking at Wen Huaxi’s exhausted expression and red-rimmed eyes, Yan Qinglan remained perfectly composed.
“Should we bring the black coat? We’re heading out to drop off our little one soon.”
“Yes, bring it.” Wen Huaxi’s voice was hoarse and weak.
She picked up a pillow and started hitting Yan Qinglan with it. Her cheeks puffed up in frustration like steamed buns. She was furious.
After packing everything, Yan Qinglan finally sat back down on the bed and tried to comfort her.
“Sweetheart, you were the one who said ‘just two times.’”
“I meant quick ones. So, we could sleep. Who told you to…” She didn’t finish her sentence and instead bit Yan Qinglan’s arm while pinching her waist at the same time.
“I couldn’t help it. And Xiaoxi, I remember you really liked…” Yan Qinglan gave her a playful look.
Wen Huaxi didn’t deny it. She did like it. That small admission made her a little less angry.
“Tonight, you’re staying still. You’re going to behave and follow my lead,” Wen Huaxi warned her through gritted teeth.
“I will,” Yan Qinglan said, picking her up into her arms. “Come on. Let’s go wash up.”
