The White Moonlight Omega Has Amnesia and Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 4
If the atmosphere just now could be described as relaxed, it could now be described as utterly tense.
Over a hundred people were seated in the lecture hall, and almost all eyes were fixed on Shen Zhi and Qin Huai.
Their gazes were filled with curiosity for gossip and the anticipation of a tense showdown a “Shura field” between rivals in love.
Qin Huai ignored these stares. Her eyes skimmed over Shen Zhi, then returned to the phone on the lecturer’s table. This time, she immediately saw Shen Zhi’s name written in the topmost spot under the class committee column, in clean, blocky, black letters on a white background.
Qin Huai had received this document right after exiting the elevator the counselor had prepared it at the last minute, so the formatting was messy, and the page was disorganized.
Qin Huai raised her eyes from the list, her beautiful face still expressionless. All the students who hoped to glimpse some other emotion from her were disappointed. Because Qin Huai merely nodded, her demeanor aloof and cold, and told Shen Zhi to sit down, completely devoid of the malicious retaliation they had imagined.
A brief introduction to the overall class committee member who would manage three classes was, in an impartial sense, enough. Qin Huai was only responsible for helping the counselor organize a few activities, manage evening self-study sessions, and conduct occasional dorm checks; getting to know anyone more extensively served no practical purpose.
Many departments were moving books in the afternoon, and the library was already packed. Qin Huai hated that kind of boring and time-wasting wait, so she picked up her phone and scrolled through the group messages. Whenever a major was done, the group manager would tag the next major to prepare.
The students below, seeing Qin Huai standing on the platform looking at her phone, lowered their voices and started chatting.
“Is the senior student (Xuejie) annoyed with Shen Zhi? Usually, wouldn’t she introduce herself at that point?” a smaller omega in the front row whispered to her classmate.
“But it’s totally normal for the senior student not to like Shen Zhi,” another omega spoke up, her voice soft and sweet. “Think about it, your Alpha cheats on you, and then you have to see your love rival all the time.”
The first omega to speak imagined herself in that situation, shivered, and mumbled, “Just thinking about it is suffocating.”
Qin Huai had finished scrolling through all the chat records. Every time a major finished collecting books, the group manager would tag the next one to prepare. The pheromone major would be up soon.
Qin Huai had been worried the book collection would be chaotic, but felt relieved after seeing this organized method.
Hardly a moment of peace passed before Qin Huai overheard the discussion between the two omegas closest to the desk where she stood.
Qin Huai: “…”
She had moved on from Lin Qiu’s cheating in the fastest possible time, and she certainly hadn’t taken her anger out on Shen Zhi. From the look of that video, Shen Zhi probably didn’t even know Lin Qiu. Her earlier reluctance to interact with Shen Zhi was purely because she feared the awkwardness.
But now, it seemed no matter what she said or did, she would be branded with the label of ‘pitiable.’
Qin Huai pursed her lips. She needed to figure something out.
Qin Huai tapped on the collected list file and then tapped the lecturer’s table, signaling for everyone to quiet down. As everyone’s eyes focused on her, Qin Huai picked up her phone and stated simply, “It’ll be a while before we move the books, I’m going to get to know you all.”
Having said this, her eyes fell on the first name on the page, the class president of Class 4, a male Alpha.
Qin Huai called the name, and the Alpha quickly stood up in his seat.
Everyone assumed that Qin Huai was now single, and some Alphas who already liked Shen Zhi were eager to try their luck.
“Here,” the Alpha looked handsome and had a slight smile on his face. As he stood up, he made sure to straighten his clothes, waiting for Qin Huai’s next words.
But Qin Huai merely glanced at him, truly just a quick look that lasted only two seconds, before moving on to the next name.
Shen Zhi sat in the corner, watching the Alpha stand up excitedly only to sit back down dejectedly, and couldn’t help but laugh out loud.
Zhang Mo nudged Shen Zhi with her elbow, feeling she had a talent for stirring the pot. “What are you laughing at? Those are all your potential love rivals.”
The tiered classroom sloped down, so those in the back could see the person on the platform clearly. Qin Huai was cold-sensitive and wore many layers under her cotton coat, making her upper body look a bit bulky. But from Shen Zhi’s perspective, she noticed that below the knee-length cotton coat was a pair of long, slender legs, tightly encased in black jeans and held perfectly straight.
Shen Zhi propped her arm on the desk, curved her fingers over her mouth, and chuckled, asking, “Do you think Qin Huai is that easy to chase?”
Zhang Mo looked inquisitively at the person next to her, wanting to hear her continue.
But Shen Zhi didn’t intend to say more. The rain had stopped in the morning, and the afternoon was completely bright. Shen Zhi’s seat was near the window, and as she looked at the sky, which had been washed clean by the rain, a flicker of gloom crossed her eyes.
Back then, she was just one step away, but that scumbag Alpha managed to get ahead of her.
And yet, that scoundrel dared to be so unappreciative.
Shen Zhi frowned, a hint of ruthlessness passing over her clear eyes.
After the roll call ended, Qin Huai put down her phone. Estimating there was still some time, she offered a summary of the roll call. She spoke seriously, her eyes conveying a certain gravity, and said, “During my time as the assistant senior student, I will treat each of you fairly and do my best to help you. If you have any questions now, you can bring them up.”
With that, Qin Huai’s eyes swept over everyone. No one raised a hand. She took her hand off the edge of the desk, put her phone into her pocket, and said, “A few Alphas, come help move the books.”
Shen Zhi, as the overall class president, naturally went as well. She was responsible for collecting the books from the teacher and counting them to ensure no omissions. After the books were counted, only the last stack remained, with Qin Huai standing nearby.
The teacher distributing the textbooks urged Shen Zhi to hurry up and then left to organize the next major coming in to collect their books.
This stack of books was very thick, the size of a brick. When Shen Zhi tried to lift the entire stack, it reached her chin, and she couldn’t hold it steady, with the topmost books nearly tumbling down.
“Careful,” Qin Huai quickly walked over, her palm supporting the top book to keep it from falling.
The sudden proximity caught Shen Zhi off guard. By the time she reacted, Qin Huai was already standing in front of her, head slightly bowed.
The surrounding environment was noisy, with footsteps and the sound of the teacher counting textbooks everywhere. Through the thin walls of her chest, Shen Zhi could hear her own slow, clumsy heartbeats.
Boom, boom, boom
Qin Huai’s height was already on the taller side for an Omega, but she only reached Shen Zhi’s chin. Shen Zhi only needed to lower her eyes to see the crown of Qin Huai’s head.
She found it difficult to lower her neck; the bones felt like rusted, unlubricated iron, making the process arduous. Qin Huai’s hair was very black, and its texture was good, clearly never having been dyed. Shen Zhi’s gaze continued downward. Qin Huai’s skin was very fair and delicate, her rounded bone structure slightly protruding, like a block of ice with a crack.
A gentle press would cause the ice surface to shatter into pieces.
Above the bone was the Omega’s scent gland, concealed by an inhibitor patch.
That area was exceptionally precious to an Omega. When an Omega was in heat, they needed an Alpha to bite it, infusing their pheromones to make the Omega smell completely like their own.
This was only a temporary mark.
If an Alpha and their Omega confirmed they would be lifelong partners, they could mark each other more deeply. Once a permanent mark was established, the Omega could never cleanse it.
Shen Zhi lowered her eyes, pursed her lips, and her ears felt a little hot.
