The White Moonlight Omega Has Amnesia and Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 2
The cafeteria lights were bright, and beneath the energy saving lamps, the crowd was packed. The line for food was long, extending from the serving window all the way to the restaurant’s main door. Even the noodle window, which usually had the worst business, was currently swamped with people.
Lin Qiu was observant, her eyes fixed on a spot in the corner where two freshmen were about to finish their meal. She raised her hand, hooked it around Qin Huai’s neck, and whispered in her ear.
“I’ll go get the food first; you go hold that spot.” Lin Qiu finished, pointing with her other finger toward the lower right corner.
One Omega stood up, a look on her face indicating she was urging the other to eat faster.
Qin Huai glanced in the direction Lin Qiu pointed. The warm breath in her ear was damp, like the combined smell of gasoline and leather in a sealed carriage, churning her stomach uncomfortably.
Qin Huai’s gaze swept over the hand resting on her shoulder. She frowned slightly but ultimately endured it, giving a soft “Mhm.”
Lin Qiu turned her head, watching Qin Huai’s lowered eyelids, a slight smile curving her lips.
In the past, with any close contact, Qin Huai not only wore a look of utter rejection but would also pull away by a meter. Today, although Qin Huai’s expression was still sour, she hadn’t pushed her away.
Does this mean she’s starting to accept me?
The smile in Lin Qiu’s eyes deepened. She raised her hand, ready to ruffle the back of the head of the person beside her, but the moment her hand touched the hair, the person in her arms stepped forward.
Qin Huai didn’t look back or spare Lin Qiu a glance. Carrying her umbrella, she strode forward, only hastily tossing out one sentence: “I’ll go grab the spot.”
When Qin Huai arrived, the two Omegas had already gotten up.
She tossed her umbrella on the floor and impatiently pulled out a tissue to wipe down the tabletop, which still held some scraps, in an effort to ease her discomfort. The wet warmth in her ear had subsided after moving away from Lin Qiu.
But the suffocating feeling in her chest still made it hard to breathe.
Qin Huai didn’t consider herself a prude. She and Lin Qiu were a couple, and some intimate gestures were normal. Many Omegas her age in the lab were already living with their Alphas. When they entered their heat, they no longer relied on suppressants but openly solicited a temporary mark from their Alpha.
Others could do it easily, but she couldn’t even stand to be near her Alpha.
Whenever Lin Qiu made an intimate gesture, her heart uncontrollably produced a repulsive reaction, and even the spots the other person had touched felt uncomfortable.
Lin Qiu needed a normal Omega who could help her through her rut (Yi Gan Qi), not a block of wood like herself.
The trash on the table was swept into the corner with a tissue. Qin Huai closed her eyes, exhaled, and secretly made a decision.
Slowly.
Even if she couldn’t overcome the discomfort this time, she was willing to take a small step forward.
After buying the food, Lin Qiu found Qin Huai at their agreed-upon location. The two chatted off and on. Most of the time, Lin Qiu was talking. Qin Huai had something on her mind and only hummed occasionally to indicate she was listening.
After eating, Lin Qiu walked Qin Huai back to her dorm along the flagstone path.
In the time it took to eat lunch, the rain had lessened considerably compared to earlier, falling lightly in a fine mist.
Two trees were planted at the entrance to the Omega dormitory, one on the left and one on the right. They were evergreen, with only the tips of their leaves turning yellow.
Usually, Lin Qiu would simply drop Qin Huai off at the dorm entrance with two or three concluding sentences. But today, Qin Huai stood beneath the branches, silent with pursed lips.
Lin Qiu had known Qin Huai for a long time and understood her temperament perfectly.
Qin Huai wasn’t the type to fuss over her appearance or use sweet-smelling suppressants a “sweet O.” On the contrary, her suppressants always smelled like faint plain water. She wore the plainest clothes, a baseball cap perpetually pulled low over her head, and a meticulously placed inhibition patch on her scent gland, regardless of whether she was in heat. These things formed the unique, inexplicably alluring Qin Huai.
Anyone who knew Qin Huai, upon meeting her eyes and seeing her look of indifference, would instinctively keep their distance.
But only Lin Qiu knew that Qin Huai was actually incredibly soft hearted. Whenever she encountered a stray cat on campus, all it took was a few meows, and Qin Huai would sacrifice her own time to play with them.
The pitiful act she’d put on at the cafeteria entrance was enough; now all that was missing was the final reassurance.
Lin Qiu cooperatively bent down, hands resting on her knees. She looked at Qin Huai’s lowered eyelids and softly said, “Huai Huai, thank you for being willing to help me through my rut.”
After speaking, she remained standing, her eyes observing every subtle change in Qin Huai’s expression.
Qin Huai’s skin was very pale, turning an unhealthy, deathly white when exposed to cold air. She tugged at her thin eyelids and, after a long moment, finally raised her eyes. Her pupils were dark as ink dots, and her dark cotton jacket made her seem like delicate, easily shattered glass.
Qin Huai looked at the familiar face, which was now lit up with a gentle smile. The folding umbrella handle in her hand was pressing into her palm, making her fingertips ache.
It’s okay, take it slow.
Qin Huai made up her mind, but her expression was somewhat stiff. She took a small step forward, closing the distance between them, and then rose up on her toes.
She didn’t close her eyes, carefully observing Lin Qiu’s expression. She felt a hand press against her waist just as her nose brushed against the other person’s skin.
Suddenly, the phone in her pocket rang, breaking the silence around them.
Qin Huai’s fingertips were clenched dryly. Opening her eyes, a rare sense of relief washed over her. She apologized, “Excuse me.”
Lin Qiu actively retreated to the other side of the road, giving her some private space.
The call was from Qin Huai’s roommate, Liu Nian.
Liu Nian was also an Omega, like her, but compared to Qin Huai’s reserved personality, Liu Nian even knew which Alpha fathered the school’s stray cats’ litter.
Qin Huai glanced at the person across the road, using this chance to give both herself and Lin Qiu a moment to breathe.
“Huai Huai, quickly look at the video I sent you.” Liu Nian’s voice sounded anxious, but her words were direct and piercing: “You’ve been cheated on.”
Qin Huai: “…”
After hanging up, Qin Huai clicked on her chat with Liu Nian. The other person had sent her not only many messages but also several forum screenshots. She clicked on one, lowering her eyes to read a few lines.
[That’s Qin Huai! My dream O, I love that type.]
[According to rumor, Senior Qin Huai is going to be the senior mentor for the freshman Pheromone major, and the class seems to be Shen Zhi’s class.]
[Amazing, what a top-tier love triangle! The ex and the current one colliding are they going to fight?]
[Quietly, am I the only one wondering who that Qin Huai is?]
[Upstairs, you don’t know enough. Qin Huai is in ‘semi-retirement’ now, but back then, she was definitely a model for our Omegas! When she was a freshman, a whole department of Alphas pursued her, but the senior had no interest in dating and found them annoying, scaring off quite a few with her cold face.]
Qin Huai’s wrist trembled, and the umbrella in her hand fell to the ground uncontrollably. She held the phone steady with one hand to prevent it from dropping and used the other to scroll the screen.
The first message Liu Nian sent was a video forwarded from the forum.
Qin Huai’s finger paused. Her eyes swept across Lin Qiu again before she finally clicked on it.
The person filming must have been standing on the outer edge of the crowd. The picture was shaky, and even the sound recording was sloppy. But even with such poor filming conditions, the two Alphas standing in the middle of the crowd still drew countless eyes.
Lin Qiu’s height was already considered tall for an Alpha, but she was still half a head shorter than the Alpha opposite her. Lin Qiu’s usual demeanor was one of all-encompassing gentleness, but the Alpha across from her had a sharp, arrogant air.
Beneath the dim yellow streetlights, rain drizzled down. Lin Qiu faced the camera, her eyes like a bird cautiously testing a trap. Her voice trembled slightly as she spoke, but she still said firmly, “Shen Zhi, I like you.”
That single sentence stirred up a thousand waves, and the surrounding cheers grew louder and louder.
After speaking, Lin Qiu quickly lowered her eyes, adopting an appearance of willingly being captivated.
She was clearly an Alpha, yet she acted softer than an Omega.
Qin Huai’s throat felt dry, like she had swallowed an unripe fruit a bitter pill to swallow.
But the video didn’t end because of Qin Huai’s discomfort.
In the frame, the Alpha with her back to the camera finally spoke. Her voice wasn’t as cool as winter, nor was it a reassuring depth, but the arrogance of thunder and lightning before a summer storm.
Shen Zhi’s back was slightly arched, looking somewhat slouchy from a distance. “You like me? But I remember you have a girlfriend? She won’t come and chop me up, will she?”
Shen Zhi’s words of ‘weakness’ sounded incredibly sweet. Lin Qiu looked up almost instantly, saying heavily, “Just one word from you, and I’ll break up with Qin Huai right away.”
The cheers erupted even louder.
Shen Zhi curved her lips, her eyes scanning the surroundings, signaling everyone to quiet down.
Through the screen, Qin Huai finally got a clear look at her face.
Her features were bright and vivid, her eyes lively. Her long hair fell loosely over her shoulder. When she smiled, a slight dimple appeared, making her look quite innocent.
But what she said was anything but innocent. She said, “You break up with Qin Huai first, and then I’ll consider you.”
The video ended, the noise cut off abruptly, leaving only the sound of the wind rustling the nearby leaves and grass.
Qin Huai stood beneath the swaying branches, as frail as a sheet of paper.
