The White Moonlight Omega Has Amnesia and Always Tries to Seduce Me - Chapter 1
It was February, and the weather still carried a chilling bite. The bright sunshine had only lasted a few days before the rain started to fall with a rhythmic patter. Jiangcheng University started its new semester today, and the campus gate was crammed with various brands of private cars. Umbrellas of all colors faced the sky, sheltering parents’ worried final instructions and students’ impatient acknowledgements.
The car window glass was covered in a thin, continuous layer of mist. Outside the window, the cold wind rattled the tree branches, and the fine rain slanted down. The driver turned on the car’s warm air conditioning and asked the passenger in the back seat, “Is this temperature alright?”
The girl in the back gave a faint “mm-hmm,” her tone as cool as the rain outside, sending a chill down one’s spine.
The driver was a Beta and couldn’t confirm the gender subclass of the girl behind him. He glanced at the back seat through the slanted rearview mirror.
The girl was looking down, her neck slightly bent. The sky was dark gray in the rain, and what stood out were her pale, cold skin and the gland covered by a brown inhibitor patch.
Compared to ten years ago, current society had seen rapid and profound development. Technology freed people’s hands, while the popularization of education liberated the confined mindset of Omegas. A decade ago, inhibitor patches were nearly as common as tissues, but now, various scented inhibitor sprays were available in supermarkets and vending machines, and inhibitor patches had almost become obsolete.
The reason they weren’t completely eliminated was that some accessory stores still sold cute, cartoon-themed inhibitor patches. But aside from some older Omegas, no one used this kind of old fashioned patch from ten years ago anymore.
The driver tutted twice, thinking: In this day and age, there are still such traditional Omegas.
The traffic jam was boring, so he wiped the lingering mist from the car window and looked outside.
An Omega walked past the car, small in stature, struggling with a 28-inch suitcase. There was a puddle of dirty water right in front of her. The Omega gritted her teeth and tried to lift the suitcase to step over it, but misjudged her strength and ended up splashing mud all over her pants and shoes.
The driver chuckled and reminded the Omega in the back, “Little girl, find an Alpha to help you carry your luggage later. This rain is really something today.”
As the driver finished speaking, he turned his body around, and the smile on his face instantly froze.
The rain accelerated the city’s pace. The driver had picked up the person from the subway exit and was so focused on the navigation that he hadn’t taken a good look at the Omega who got in the car. Now that he saw her clearly, he regretted every word he had just said.
The light on a rainy day was particularly dim, like a painting splattered with ink. Inside the car, the Omega was hunched over, neck bowed, looking at her phone. She wore a black velvet down jacket, wide-cut, which made her body look exceptionally small inside. Her head was bowed, revealing a long, slender neck, where a plaster-shaped inhibitor patch concealed the Omega’s vulnerable spot.
Hearing someone speak to her, the Omega lifted her gaze from her phone. Her baseball cap, which had previously obscured her face, revealed her entire expression with this movement. The light under the brim was dim, yet her face shone brightly.
Qin Huai spoke as she turned off her screen, “No need.”
The driver woodenly turned back, forcing a smile as he looked ahead.
Compared to those delicate and sweet Omegas, the guest in front of him really didn’t need anyone’s help.
Due to the weather, the school prohibited all vehicles from entering the campus today to avoid confusion. After Qin Huai got out of the car, she retrieved her suitcase from the trunk. As the driver expected, her movements were smooth and swift, without any hesitation.
The cold wind whistled past, and Qin Huai huddled under the innermost eave of the school gate. The stone path underfoot was wet, and students were entering one after another. Qin Huai glanced into the campus, a slight frown crossing her beautiful brows, and a flash of impatience in her eyes. Before picking up her suitcase, she re-examined a familiar WeChat name. She didn’t send a message, and then lifted her suitcase and stepped through the campus gate.
To reduce the flow of people, Jiangcheng University had implemented a staggered start for the semester. Qin Huai was in her first year of graduate school and was originally scheduled to start in a few days, but she received a message from her advisor last night. She had been selected last year in the competition for the student assistant position, and her advisor told her to report to school at the same time as the first-year undergraduates.
If her advisor hadn’t mentioned it, Qin Huai herself would have forgotten about the student assistant position. Last semester, the counselor managing the first-year students became pregnant. Jiangcheng University adopted the method of selecting student assistants to help the counselor reduce her workload, and in return, the selected students would be granted priority in certain matters.
Qin Huai hadn’t intended to participate. Her grades were always among the top, and she was practically drowning in scholarships. Since starting graduate school, she had focused entirely on her research and was completely uninterested in other things.
Qin Huai was content with her minimalist life, but she couldn’t resist her Alpha girlfriend, Lin Qiu’s, persistent coaxing and pitiful pleas. In the end, she agreed, and both of them applied and were selected. They had agreed last night to meet at the school gate today, but Qin Huai waited for twenty minutes, her feet growing numb from the cold, before finally leaving.
A few steps from the school gate was the canteen, and behind the canteen were the Omega dormitories. Qin Huai planned to drop off her luggage in her room first and then clean the room, which had accumulated a winter’s worth of dust. The moment her rear touched the stool, a message from Lin Qiu came through, right on cue.
It was a voice message.
Qin Huai tapped to listen to them one by one.
“I’m sorry, darling, I was delayed by something. I just arrived at the school gate and saw you weren’t there. Where are you now? I’ll come find you.”
“Darling, don’t be mad. I was preparing a surprise for tonight.”
The two voice messages were right next to each other. Qin Huai’s finger heavily tapped the screen. Finally, she picked up her hat from the desk and simply replied: Wait for me at the canteen.
Her plans were disrupted, so Qin Huai grabbed her keys and umbrella and left. Her dormitory was on the fourth floor, not too high up; she could get to the first floor in two minutes if she was fast. It was cold today, so she needed to hurry.
Qin Huai had a full schedule planned in her head. As she stepped out of the hallway, two Omegas came down from the fifth floor, ahead of her.
The stairs were wide enough for two people side by side. The Omegas in front each held an umbrella, completely monopolizing the staircase, and they were talking without noticing how slowly they were moving, having not seen each other all holiday.
Qin Huai had no choice but to follow slowly behind them.
“Did you see our school’s forum? My goodness, it’s blowing up! Those two are both Alphas!”
“I saw it, I saw it!” The other girl’s tone was excited. “I saw comments saying that one of the Alphas has a girlfriend.”
“No way. Then why would she publicly confess to Shen Zhi? Just looking for a thrill? Or does she think having only an Omega isn’t enough?”
“Shen Zhi! She’s my dream Alpha! They won’t actually end up together, right?”
“Who knows? It’s a shame though. Shen Zhi looks like the type of Alpha who knows how to have a good time.”
Qin Huai was forced to listen to the gossip all the way. She roughly figured out the situation. One Alpha had confessed to Shen Zhi and been rejected. Qin Huai wasn’t one to meddle, but a confession between two Alphas was enough to stir up a huge commotion. Qin Huai couldn’t resist and opened the forum on her way to the canteen.
The forum page was cluttered, but the post with the most comments was: [A Closer Look at Jiangcheng University’s Dream Alpha’s Heart-Thumping Moments].
Qin Huai rarely visited the forum and wasn’t familiar with its functions. She only clicked on the post when she saw a familiar name. The network speed was slow, and the horizontal line at the bottom of the page slid leisurely to one end. What greeted her wasn’t text, but a photo.
The Alpha in the photo was slender but not weak, clearly someone who exercised often. She was wearing a white shirt over a short camisole, revealing a very brief sliver of her abdominal muscles. She had long black hair, the ends slightly curled, reaching her chest. The dim yellow streetlights beside her softened the angles of her face, giving her intensely aggressive features a deceptively docile look.
Perhaps someone had suddenly called her name, or perhaps she had spotted a familiar person. There was undisguised surprise and delight in the Alpha’s eyes.
Indeed, she has the face of a dream Alpha, Qin Huai nodded and scrolled down the post.
Opinions were mixed. Some said her private life was chaotic, that she spent every day in internet cafes, and never refused an Omega who offered themselves, greeting them with a smile.
Some said that although her personality was strong, she treated the Omegas around her extremely well and never took advantage of their affection.
Some said they had personally seen Shen Zhi secretly taking photos of an Omega at school, and when caught, she had openly admitted it.
Still others said that the one Shen Zhi was secretly photographing wasn’t just an Omega, but that specific one.
With various rumors swirling, Qin Huai only turned off her screen when she reached the entrance of the canteen. In that instant, the lightly smiling face from the photo flashed in her mind again. She couldn’t help but shake her head, both lamenting that she was getting old and out of touch with the times, and also marveling at the unpredictability of Alphas.
They sure play wild games.
Lin Qiu was already waiting at the canteen entrance. She had one hand tucked into her pocket, feeling the warmth of a card, and with the other, she raised and waved when she saw Qin Huai, “Huaihuai, I’m here.”
Hearing her name, Qin Huai looked over in the direction of the voice. The Alpha standing under the eaves was wearing a trench coat, with a gentle smile on her face, waving at her.
That was her Alpha girlfriend Lin Qiu.
She had known Lin Qiu for five years and they had been dating for less than a year. Lin Qiu had a balanced personality, with a perfect grasp of boundaries. Every detail of their relationship could be taken out and used as a textbook example.
The two of them should have been as sweet and loving as any other couple holding hands, hugging, and kissing. But for some reason, Qin Huai always felt a slight discomfort with every one of Lin Qiu’s advances.
Just like now. As she stood under the eaves, Lin Qiu naturally took the umbrella from her hand and folded it. Her foot moved forward, and just as her breath was about to touch Qin Huai’s chin, Qin Huai subconsciously took a step back.
The rain under the eaves formed a curtain of water, dripping onto the stone ground. Disordered footprints disappeared from the canteen entrance.
The air seemed to freeze at that moment.
The white sneakers on Qin Huai’s feet were soaked, and the edges of her light blue jeans were still dripping water. This happened just now when she was walking and looking at her phone at the same time, accidentally stepping into a puddle. Her feet were so cold they were numb.
Qin Huai lowered her eyelashes, staring at the wet patch on her toes, and apologized: “I’m sorry.”
Usually, at this point, Lin Qiu’s shoe would move back, creating a safe distance.
But this time, it didn’t.
The Omega in front of her was bowing her head, exposing a patch of skin on the back of her neck. Qin Huai had only casually tied her hair into a bun today, and a few wisps of broken hair rested on her snow-white skin. The inhibitor patch seemed to possess a magical attraction, drawing Lin Qiu’s attention.
All it would take was to peel off that patch, and the gland beneath the skin would be easily exposed. Separated by only thin flesh, the Omega’s exclusive gland was full of tension, like a engorged blood vessel.
And all she had to do was unleash her Alpha instincts, releasing her pheromones, and the cool, self-possessed, and distant Omega in front of her would transform into a completely different person.
Fragile, trembling, only wanting to cling tightly to her, uttering soft whimpers, like a restless puppy in spring, tireless.
Just the thought of it made Lin Qiu’s blood boil.
As an Alpha, she didn’t even know what her own Omega’s pheromones smelled like.
And tonight, she not only wanted to know what Qin Huai’s pheromones smelled like, but she also wanted to know what Qin Huai herself smelled like.
A look of determination flashed in Lin Qiu’s eyes. Her hand, which had been in her pocket, finally came out, and a familiar card appeared before Qin Huai.
Qin Huai didn’t recognize the card, but she recognized the words on it.
It was from a place near the school where Alphas took their Omegas to rent a room.
Qin Huai paused for a moment, not taking the card from Lin Qiu’s hand, but instead asking with her eyes.
Lin Qiu gave a bitter smile, with a hint of Alpha exclusive loneliness in her eyes, “Huaihuai, tomorrow is my rut. I want to spend it with you.”
