The White Moonlight is So Scheming - Chapter 30
“Thank you.”
Adjusting her clothes, Shen Juexia stepped out of the stall.
With her hands clasped behind her back, Ji Zhijie stood by the mirror, studying the girl before her, and suddenly remarked, “You were right.”
Shen Juexia, who was re-tying her hair, tilted her head to look at her. “About what?”
“You look good in anything.”
Her tone carried a hint of fluster. Without finishing her sentence, Ji Zhijie strode straight out of the restroom.
Left alone, Shen Juexia stared blankly at her reflection; her hair slightly damp, a plain navy-blue cotton T-shirt without even a print, paired with a school uniform skirt.
Like this… pretty?
Ji Zhijie’s taste is really something else…

10:20 AM, the school field.
The sun was so bright it was impossible to look at directly, as if someone had splashed the sky with blue paint.
White clouds drifted leisurely against the deep blue backdrop.
The warm sunlight fell evenly across the grass.
Holding a cake in one hand and pushing the wheelchair with the other, Shen Juexia placed the pale pink heart-shaped cake on the table and picked up the cake knife. “I remember you and Dr. Zheng are close. Should we save a couple of slices for her?”
On the satin-smooth surface of the cake, two elegant swans nestled their necks together. The taller one bent slightly, as if unwilling to part from the smaller swan.
“Ladies and gentlemen, we are about to land. For your safety, please ensure your seatbelts are securely fastened…”
The plane’s wings gently pierced through the milky-white clouds.
The scenery outside the window gradually came into focus.
A windless night in late spring.
The stars gazed intently at the moon, its pure light exceptionally tender.
Summer was approaching.
The air carried a hint of stifling warmth.
Curled up on the sofa, the petite girl lay with her hands lightly pressed to her chest, her thick lashes casting delicate shadows under her eyes. Her nose was delicate and perfectly shaped.
Ji Zhijie, lying on the bed, wasn’t asleep.
She lay on her side, her eyes tracing the contours of Shen Juexia’s face—
Would Shen Juexia like girls?
She remembered how, when they first met, Shen Juexia would often stare at her in a daze.
Raising a hand to her cheek, Ji Zhijie bit her lower lip softly.
She recalled all the compliments Shen Juexia had given her, and that afternoon when she had lightly closed her eyes, her posture almost like an invitation…
If—
If she had kissed her then—
Would Shen Juexia have pulled away? Or would she have responded?
The images flashing through her mind slowed Ji Zhijie’s breathing, her thoughts growing hazier…
Her eyes were filled with her; her heart was filled with her.
With a love both hazy and fervent.
Her long lashes fluttering slightly, Ji Zhijie closed her eyes.
As the plane continued its descent, the landing gear extended from the fuselage. The moment the wheels touched the runway, the markers on either side blurred past.
By the time Ji Zhijie had changed into her nightgown and stepped out of the bathroom, she found Shen Juexia like a lifeless puppet sitting motionless in the beanbag chair, lost in thought.
“What did the doctor say to you?”
Ji Zhijie spoke as she sat on the edge of the bed, leaning on her crutches.
Shen Juexia looked up abruptly, her gaze fixed on Ji Zhijie.
Her fingers twitched slightly as Ji Zhijie asked gently, “Why are you staring at me like that?”
Suddenly, Shen Juexia averted her eyes.
Shen Juexia muttered softly, “I didn’t go to the doctor just now. I wiped it myself, and since it stopped bleeding, let’s just leave it at that.”
“Nosebleeds without a reason are no small matter. Don’t be afraid, I’ll go with you.” Leaning on her crutch, Ji Zhijie started to walk out.
“No! I don’t want to ask the doctor!” Shen Juexia protested loudly.
If anyone found out…
That she had peeked at Ji Zhijie bathing and gotten so excited her nose bled…
She might as well die of shame!
“Don’t be stubborn. It’s best to ask in situations like this, and we’re already at the hospital—how convenient is that?” Turning around, Ji Zhijie coaxed her gently.
“There was a reason.”
“What?”
Swallowing hard, Shen Juexia declared with conviction, “It was because you bumped into me that my nose bled. It’s completely fine now, so I don’t need to see a doctor.”
“Dear passengers, welcome to the beautiful city of W. The current temperature outside is 15 degrees Celsius. The plane will taxi for a while longer, so please keep your seatbelts fastened…”
After taxiing for some time, the plane came to a stop at the jet bridge.
“Hello, Ms. Shen,” the flight attendant said sweetly, bending down to offer a wet wipe. “May I help you retrieve your carry-on luggage now?”
Glancing at the slight lift of her heels, Shen Tinghan shook her head. “No need, I can manage. Please assist the other passengers.”
“But—”
Worried the VIP passenger was dissatisfied with her service, the attendant asked nervously, “Ms. Shen, was there something wrong with this flight—”
“You’ve been working just as long as we’ve been flying, you must be tired too.” As she spoke, Shen Tinghan stood up, opened the overhead compartment, and took out her 16-inch carry-on. “I’ll handle it myself. Thank you.”
“Of course, thank you!” The weight in her chest lifted quietly.
Blushing slightly, the flight attendant stole a few more glances at Shen Tinghan before reluctantly turning to assist another passenger completely missing Ji Zhijie’s gaze.
Holding a cake knife, Shen Juexia sharpened her metaphorical blade toward the swan, determined to divide the cake into four equal parts.
Watching as Shen Juexia mercilessly raised her hand, the beautiful swan about to lose its rear, Ji Zhijie couldn’t help but exclaim, “Wait!”
“What?!”
Shen Juexia wrinkled her nose and tilted her head.
“Can you not cut them apart? Don’t separate them either.” Gripping the wheelchair armrests, Ji Zhijie stared at her toes.
“Why? The swan isn’t tasty.” Thinking Ji Zhijie wanted to eat it, Shen Juexia patiently explained, “The cake underneath is better. The swan is just sugar.”
A faint blush crept across Ji Zhijie’s pale cheeks. Unwilling to voice her whimsical thoughts, she hedged, “I like sugar. Just give me both swans.”
“Huh?” Shen Juexia shot her a strange look.
Whatever.
She was a patient, after all.
Shaking her head, Shen Juexia carefully lifted both swans and placed them on Ji Zhijie’s plate. “There, eat up.”
Gazing at the two swans nestled together, Ji Zhijie’s lips parted slightly, her expression softening imperceptibly as she lost herself in thought.
“Ji Zhijie.”
“Huh?”
Hearing her name, she looked up instinctively.
“Maybe you should go get checked out again. I think you might have actually hit your head too hard.” After a few seconds of internal struggle, Shen Juexia added, “The way you were staring just now. You looked downright stupid.”
His gaze froze.
All the blood in his body rushed to his head.
Ji Zhijie’s lips twitched slightly as he forced an awkward smile and cleared his throat. “I was just… just admiring how exquisite this swan is. I couldn’t bear to eat it.”
“Really?” Shen Juexia took another bite of cake and casually offered, “If you like swans that much, I’ll order one for you every week from now on.”
“No need. I only like these two.”
The 800-meter race had just ended. Two volunteers responsible for setting up the hurdles gathered the frames from the grass. One measured the spacing while the other placed them.
Sneaking a glance at her opponent in professional racing gear, Shen Juexia clenched her fists and nervously asked Ji Zhijie, “She looks so professional. How about you? Are you feeling nervous?”
“That’s Zhao Qing, a national second-tier athlete.” Rubbing his slightly sore wrist, Ji Zhijie explained gently, “I signed up for four events this time. I never expected to place in every single one.”
His performance in the high jump preliminaries had been decent.
Since he didn’t need to compete in the semifinals, he’d advance straight to the finals tomorrow.
According to the schedule, the women’s 100-meter relay would follow the hurdles.
Team events carried higher point values, so from the start, his plan had been simple just make it past the 400-meter hurdles to the next round.
“But didn’t you want to win prize money? If that’s the case, then the hurdles…” Shen Juexia’s voice trailed off.
Right.
No one could excel at everything.
Not aiming for a ranking?
That was probably just Ji Zhijie’s way of saving face.
But now that she’d bluntly pointed it out, wouldn’t that make things awkward for him?
Stealing a furtive glance at Ji Zhijie, Shen Juexia bit her lower lip.
Seeing Shen Juexia hesitate like this, Ji Zhijie knew exactly what was going through her mind nothing good. “Team events have higher point values. I signed up for four events to see if I can make it into the top three for overall individual points.”
“Overall points? What’s that?” Shen Juexia tilted her chin up, utterly lost.
Tightening his shoelaces, Ji Zhijie looked up. “The top three in overall points get a hefty cash prize even bigger than the winner’s reward for a single event.”
The other logistics staff sitting beside Shen Juexia, who had been constantly criticized by the athletes she was assigned to, suddenly felt vindicated. “You complain about me being unreliable, but look at your own logistics, she doesn’t even know what overall points are.”
“You’re only responsible for two people. Maybe she has to handle multiple athletes!” The girl in the red tracksuit stood up, tossing her towel onto the chair defiantly.
“Think you’re some Olympic athlete or something? If it weren’t for the credits, I wouldn’t bother with you!” The logistics girl kicked the chair leg and turned away angrily.
Forced to listen to the argument, Shen Juexia’s face turned a mix of green and pale.
In an unfamiliar environment,
Ji Zhijie slept restlessly.
The pressure rising from her waist made her breathing heavier. Ji Zhijie reached out from under the blankets, intending to pull them down a bit only to unexpectedly touch a soft arm.
Under the shy moonlight,
Ji Zhijie widened her eyes in disbelief.
Why?!
Shen Juexia had somehow ended up in her bed.
One leg draped over Ji Zhijie’s waist, arms wrapped around hers, Shen Juexia’s light, rhythmic breathing indicated she was sound asleep.
Wake her up immediately.
What was this situation?
But… she looked so peaceful.
If she disturbed her, Shen Juexia would definitely be furious.
Two conflicting voices clashed fiercely in her mind. Biting her tongue hard, Ji Zhijie made a decision.
She wouldn’t wake Shen Juexia.
But she would lift her leg and put some distance between them.
Taking a deep breath, Ji Zhijie clenched her teeth, though her movements remained cautious—
“Big sister~ stop moving.”
With a soft whimper, Shen Juexia nuzzled even closer into her embrace. “I’m so sleepy…”
At the sound, Ji Zhijie froze as if struck by a pressure point.
Blinking in a daze, she stayed perfectly still, gazing at Shen Juexia’s serene sleeping face. A sudden thought crossed her mind: Does Shen Juexia still sleep with her sister like this?
Plop.
An ice cube dropped into a glass, producing a crisp sound.
Shen Tinghan turned around, sliding the glass toward the woman across from her before taking a seat on the barstool. She pinched the rim of her wine glass with one hand. “Long time no see.”
Her turquoise-clear eyes
flickered with a trace of obsession buried deep within.
Vera gazed at Shen Tinghan’s face, raising her glass to take a sip. “Long time no see, Tinghan.”
A faint smile graced her lips, but her eyes remained devoid of emotion. Truthfully, Shen Tinghan barely remembered the woman before her—wasn’t she an exchange student at their university for a while?
“You… still like that girl, don’t you?” Vera tightened her grip on the glass. The chill of the liquor seeped through to her fingertips, yet her thoughts remained clouded.
She’d heard from a friend
that Shen Tinghan was in M Country recently.
Without hesitation, she had rushed over from the neighboring nation.
