The White Moonlight is So Scheming - Chapter 1
“See it clearly now?”
Shen Congjun sneered as he threw the paternity test report in Shen Juexia’s face. “You’re not my daughter. She is.”
Bending down to pick up the fallen document, Shen Juexia recognized every word written on it but she didn’t know how to accept it.
“Get out. Starting today, I don’t want to see you in the Shen family ever again.” After waiting so many years, he could finally
drive this thorn in his side out of the Shen household. Satisfaction was written all over Shen Congjun’s face.
“Second Young Miss, here are your belongings.”
Aunt Xu lowered her eyes, unable to bear looking at Shen Juexia, who was now drenched in tears.
“What ‘Second Young Miss’? She’s just a fraud.”
Kicking the suitcase over, Shen Congjun raised his chin arrogantly, his gaze full of disdain. “I always knew it. How could our Shen
family ever produce someone as stupid as you?”
The pampered little princess had never faced anything like this before. With teary eyes, Shen Juexia picked up the small rabbit
that had fallen out of the suitcase.
It was a gift from her sister.
“I’m calling my sister.” Wiping her tears with her small hands, Shen Juexia pressed her cherry lips together, forcing herself to
stay composed.
A shadow flickered in Shen Congjun’s eyes, and his expression darkened. “Who do you think you are? Now that the truth is out, you
still have the nerve to call Tinghan ‘sister’? If she knew you were just a liar.”
Her fingers, clutching the rabbit’s ears, stiffened for a moment.
Taking shallow breaths to hold back the tears threatening to spill, Shen Juexia lifted her delicate, doll-like face and glared at
Shen Congjun standing on the steps. “You don’t get to decide. I’ll ask my sister myself.”
Shen Congjun scoffed.
Throwing Aunt Xu a meaningful glance, he said, “Call whoever you want. But you’re not taking a single thing from the Shen family with you.”
Ten minutes later.
Her custom-made dress had been swapped for a faded white T-shirt, and even her phone had been confiscated.
Recalling the humiliation she had just endured, Shen Juexia was seething with anger.
Pouting, she stomped along the mountain road of the villa district until the back of her heel, rubbed raw by the ill-fitting canvas
shoes, finally led her to a convenience store that was still open.
“I need to make a call.”
The short-haired clerk, engrossed in a game with earbuds in, didn’t even look up. “Everything’s self-checkout now. I’m in the
middle of a team fight, figure it out yourself, okay?”
“I said I need to make a call!” The girl’s voice rose sharply.
“What’s wrong with you? Who doesn’t have a phone these days?” The clerk froze the moment she looked up.
This girl looked exactly like her favorite manga character as if the 2D beauty had stepped right out of the screen into reality.
“Just wait, okay? Let me finish this game, and I’ll lend you my phone.” Unconsciously softening her tone, the clerk’s ears burned.
“You’d better hurry.” Impatiently tapping her foot, Shen Juexia bit her lip.
Couldn’t she see she was in a hurry?
What kind of team fight was worth playing at a time like this? She was bound to lose anyway!
As the phone screen turned red, the word “DEFEAT!” flashed across it.
Hmph! She was right!
Suppressing the urge to smirk, Shen Juexia stretched out her fair, delicate palm. “Give me the phone. I need to call my sister.”
“Had a fight with your family, huh? Tsk, I’ve seen plenty of young ladies like you.” The store clerk’s words were cut short as Shen
Juexia snatched the phone from his hand.
So much useless chatter.
While silently complaining, Shen Juexia deftly dialed the number. “My sister is the CEO of Shen Corporation. If you help me, she’ll
definitely reward you handsomely.”
“Haha.” The clerk forced a dry laugh, unsure how to respond.
“Beep… beep…”
“Beep… beep…”
The sound of the unanswered call echoed through the small convenience store.
Standing up, the clerk extended his hand toward Shen Juexia. “No one’s picking up. Maybe you should just let it go.”
Clutching the phone tightly, Shen Juexia’s eyes began to redden. “My sister would never ignore my call.”
Afraid she might actually burst into tears in the store, the clerk quickly tried to console her. “Maybe you got the number wrong?
Or maybe your sister’s just busy?”
“How could I get it wrong? Hers is the only number I remember.” Though her confidence was wavering, she stubbornly refused to back
down. “And no matter how busy she is, she always answers my calls!”
“Well, she didn’t this time,” the clerk muttered under his breath, turning away.
“What did you say?!” Ears perking up, Shen Juexia glared at him. “Fine, I’ll call her company and have her secretary find her!”
“Hello, this is Shen Corporation.”
“I need to speak to Shen Tinghan.”
“Do you have an appointment?”
“I don’t need an appointment to see my sister!”
“Beep… beep…”
Clearly, the other end had hung up.
“Maybe you should try someone else? I don’t really need my phone right now.” Before the clerk could finish, Shen Juexia set the
phone down and ran out without looking back.
Alone, she wandered aimlessly down the empty street.
“Ouch!”
Under the dim glow of a streetlight, Shen Juexia saw the brick that had tripped her. In a fit of frustration, she kicked it with
all her might only to end up in tears from the pain.
This time, that damned Shen Congjun hadn’t lied.
Her sister really had abandoned her.
Hugging her knees as she crouched by the roadside, staring at the only companion she had left, a small stuffed rabbit Shen Juexia,
who had been holding it in all day, finally broke down into loud, unrestrained sobs.
The more she cried, the worse she felt. Her breath hitched, tears falling like rain…
“Sister… sister!” Waking from the nightmare, Shen Juexia’s face was already streaked with tears.
Staring at the familiar ceiling, her mind slowly cleared, but the heartache remained as vivid as ever.
Her sister had abandoned her…
No, that couldn’t be. How could her sister ever abandon her?
Bolting upright at record speed, she yanked her charging phone from the cord and dialed the first number in her contacts.
M Country.
The atmosphere in the executive conference room was tense and solemn. The long table was filled with high-ranking managers in sharp
suits, surrounded by spread-out reports and documents. A projector displayed the latest financial data.
Among these elites, the woman seated at the head of the table stood out Shen Tinghan, the current CEO of Shen Corporation.
Her slightly upturned phoenix eyes seemed to see through everything. With her decisive leadership and innate aristocratic bearing,
Shen Tinghan had swiftly risen as one of the most sought-after rising stars in the business world.
Dressed in a simple white shirt with the first button undone, revealing a glimpse of her fair, jade-like neck, Shen Tinghan sat
with her long legs crossed. Her suit jacket was casually draped over the back of the chair.
At that moment, she was tapping the table with her fingers, listening to her subordinates’ reports on the new project.
“Ding ding…”
Suddenly, her private phone vibrated beside her, and the voices in the conference room immediately fell silent.
All eyes turned to the young CEO.
Shen Tinghan frowned slightly, her slender fingers picking up the phone without hesitation. She pressed the answer button and held
it to her ear. “Xia Xia?”
The soft, sweet voice on the other end was the only tenderness in Shen Tinghan’s heart. Even in such a formal setting, hearing Shen
Juexia’s voice instantly softened her gaze.
“Sister…” Shen Juexia bit the inside of her cheek.
Hearing her sister’s voice, the grievances she had barely managed to suppress surged back up.
Shen Tinghan had intended to tell her she was in a meeting, but the obvious sob in Juexia’s voice unsettled her.
She stood up and briefly addressed the room, “Apologies, I need to step out for a private matter.”
With that, she pushed open the door and left, leaving behind a room full of surprised and curious stares.
Only the two secretaries who had been with Shen Tinghan the longest exchanged a subtle glance. It had to be the little princess at
home again.
The hallway was quiet and empty.
Shen Tinghan walked gracefully, listening and occasionally responding, her tone laced with unmistakable fondness. “Did you argue
with Father again?”
“No, I dreamed…”
The words caught in her throat, and Shen Juexia abruptly changed course, clenching her palm as she said, “I dreamed you abandoned
me.”
Gazing at the neon-lit nightscape through the floor-to-ceiling windows, Shen Tinghan chuckled softly and patiently reassured her,
“It was just a dream, the opposite of reality. You’re my sister, how could I ever abandon you?”
Words that would have sounded sweet any other time now felt like sharp blades to Shen Juexia.
She choked back a sob, her voice barely above a whisper. “But what if I’m not?”
“Not what?” Shen Tinghan’s brow furrowed, and her tone grew serious. “Don’t overthink it. You’re my sister, the most important
person to me.”
“You’re scolding me! And ever since I went abroad, if I don’t call you first, you never call me. You don’t love me anymore.” Tears
welled up uncontrollably, dark lashes unable to hold them back as large drops soaked the bedsheet.
Shen Juexia accused her pitifully, like a little rabbit abandoned by its owner.
Leaning against the metal railing, Shen Tinghan’s phoenix eyes held helplessness and tenderness but not a trace of annoyance.
“Didn’t you tell me not to call you? You said it would wake you up.”
With a thirteen-hour time difference and her still in school, by the time Shen Tinghan finished work, Juexia was already asleep.
“Just because I said not to call, you stopped?!” Defiant even when unreasonable, Shen Juexia clenched her small fists, venting her
emotions without restraint.
“I’ve been messaging you every day, but you still haven’t replied to yesterday’s message.” Unhurriedly, Shen Tinghan lowered her
long lashes, gently smoothing the ruffled little beast’s fur.
Her mind still filled with the endless busy tone from her dream that she couldn’t get through, Shen Juexia’s eyes reddened as sharp
words spilled out uncontrollably: “I don’t care! You just don’t like me anymore, you don’t want me! I’ll never like you again,
sister!”
A flicker of shock passed through Shen Tinghan’s eyes, her pupils contracting slightly as the air around her instantly turned icy.
Realizing no response came from the other end, Shen Juexia also became aware of how harsh her words had been. Timidly, she called out, “Sister…”
