Ning Fuyi was the legendary Great Demon, rumored to have committed every conceivable evil for centuries before finally meeting a wretched end under the sword of the Divine Venerable, Chu Qingqiu. Upon her death, the Six Realms broke out in celebration.
It was said that Chu Qingqiu was the “White Moonlight” (unrequited love) of Ning Fuyi’s mother, Ning Tian, the Sect Leader. Presumably, Chu Qingqiu could no longer stand Ning Fuyi’s atrocities and stepped in to end them. However, to everyone’s shock, Chu Qingqiu jumped off a cliff the very next day, leaving the world in an uproar.
Ning Fuyi is reborn. When she opens her eyes, she has returned to a thousand years ago. Her mother has just passed away, and she is still a “little piece of trash” with mediocre talent, subjected to humiliation and bullying.
She looks down to find a cold beauty, drenched and gasping for breath in a bathtub, clinging to her. It is none other than Chu Qingqiu.
Intending to take revenge, Ning Fuyi grabs the beauty by the collar, ready to strike. Yet, Chu Qingqiu neither resists nor fights back. With reddened eyes, she stares at Ning Fuyi as if lost in a dream.
“You and I just formed a marriage contract,” Chu Qingqiu says. “Killing one’s wife is a violation of the Celestial Laws.” Ning Fuyi: “??!!”
In her past life, Ning Fuyi was bullied by her sect for being useless. She watched her friends and family die miserable deaths, which forced her onto the Demonic Path. In this life, she intends to cultivate demonic arts once again.
However, things go sideways:
She tries to summon a Demonic Sword, but pulls out a Peerless Divine Sword.
She searches for a Demonic Beast, but releases a Divine Beast of the Nine Heavens.
She sets a formation to control lonely ghosts, but out pops a swarm of sweet little Flower Fairies.
Numb to the absurdity, Ning Fuyi tries to find a partner for dual cultivation to force her way into the Demonic Path. Instead, she sees the icy Divine Venerable, Chu Qingqiu who supposedly only cares for the common people—walking barefoot through the ice and snow.
Chu Qingqiu sits upon her bed, eyes slightly red: “Whatever you want, I will give it to you.”
Chu Qingqiu could never forget the day she was imprisoned by the Heavenly Dao. That little Demon who wandered in by mistake split the chaos with a single sword stroke and took her into her arms.
The heartless, loveless old deity finally fell into the mortal realm. “I’m sorry I didn’t fall in love with you sooner.”
