- Chapter 3 - Lu Qinnian's Top-Tier Omega
In her quest to drink Yan Hui under the table, Lu Ge had ended up getting herself completely wasted as well. Consequently, the responsibility of seeing the guests off fell entirely to Lu Qinnian and Lu Kui.
The elders had long since retired, and the Lu parents had already gone to bed.
Exhausted from the busy evening, Lu Kui collapsed onto the sofa. Standing by the wine rack, Lu Qinnian poured a glass and glanced back. “Want a drink?”
Lu Kui shook her head. “No. I’ve been playing the piano all night; my fingers are worn out. I don’t want to trouble them by making them hold a glass.”
Lu Qinnian gave a faint smile and tilted her head back to take a sip. Lu Kui sighed, “Honestly, you’re the one who should have gone to drink with Yan Hui. You would’ve handled her easily.”
As soon as the words left her mouth, both women grew alert and asked in unison:
“Where is Yan Hui?”
The butler came running over in a panic. Seeing Lu Qinnian’s sharp gaze, he immediately slowed his pace, straightened his clothes, and walked over. “Miss Qingqing is in the underground wine cellar drinking with Xiao Ran and her crowd. Xiao Ran brought some wine that allows Alphas to completely release their pheromones and insisted on sharing it with Miss Qingqing.”
Lu Qinnian’s brow furrowed. Lu Kui, still on the sofa, smiled with a look of maternal pride. “Our Qingqing really has grown up.”
The butler looked at them with a worried expression. “I informed the Third Miss, but she took Miss Yan Hui down there and hasn’t come back up. She’s likely drunk and forgot to stop Miss Qingqing. Miss Qingqing is still young; she shouldn’t be picking up such bad habits.”
“Yan Hui went down there too?” Lu Qinnian asked, surprised.
“Yes. She was drunk from the Third Miss’s pestering and seemed quite dazed. The Third Miss wanted to make her look like a fool; I heard her from outside the door urging Miss Yan Hui to drink that wine.”
Lu Qinnian’s expression shifted. “What about Song Ziqing?”
“Miss Qingqing hasn’t come out,” the butler said uneasily. In everyone’s eyes, Song Ziqing had never released her pheromones before, so she was still considered a child. A first pheromone release involved many unknown factors; doing it so recklessly could lead to serious trouble.
“Go and cut the power,” Lu Qinnian ordered, immediately heading toward the basement.
The butler hurried off to comply. Lu Kui was left in a daze, grumbling as she stood up to follow. “How can you call her by her full name like that? Qingqing already thinks you don’t like her.”
Lu Qinnian paid her no mind. Seeing her run off and disappear, Lu Kui pouted. “She clearly cares so much, yet she insists on acting like she hates her. She’s really quite unlikable!”
The moment she finished speaking, the massive Lu mansion was plunged into darkness. Inside the wine cellar, the group instantly erupted into cheers, their excitement reaching a fever pitch.
Song Ziqing stood up, planning to use the darkness to escape, but someone grabbed her. In the pitch-black cellar, voices were singing loudly; those who had drunk the wine were dancing excitedly, releasing their pheromones without restraint.
The moment she had sat down earlier, Song Ziqing had clearly heard Yan Hui gulping down that glass of wine. Lu Ge had finished hers too, even commenting, “I don’t really feel anything.”
Xiao Ran, already floating on cloud nine, mumbled, “Count down ten seconds, and it’ll hit you.”
Song Ziqing’s heart hammered. She could already smell several different pheromones, and her body was beginning to burn with heat. If these two top-tier Alphas beside her released their pheromones, her legs would turn to jelly, and she’d never be able to run away!
Just as she prepared to bolt, a thick wave of Alpha pheromones flooded her senses. She felt her blood boiling and tried to force herself to stay calm, but she couldn’t fight her body’s primal instincts.
A faint scent of Omega pheromones began to drift out. Someone in the crowd gasped, “I smell an Omega!”
“What are you talking about? There are no Omegas here. You must be hallucinating!”
Song Ziqing gritted her teeth and forced herself to stand, leaning against the sofa to make a run for it. She wanted to disappear before she was caught, but her legs were incredibly weak. Just as she rounded the sofa, the scent of the two top-tier Alphas hit her, and she found herself unable to move a single step.
“It really is the scent of an Omega,” Lu Ge said softly.
Yan Hui, her thoughts drifting, added, “And a high-quality one at that.”
Lu Ge asked foolishly, “You can actually smell that?”
Song Ziqing felt utter despair. Induced by the presence of two elite Alphas, her pheromones felt as though they were about to surge out in a torrent.
The crowd cheered: “Whoa! What a pleasant surprise!”
“Thanks for the treat, Xiao Ran!”
Suggestive laughter rippled through the room. Yan Hui let out a cold laugh. “This isn’t your average high-quality Omega. I’m afraid none of you have the luck to handle this.”
Song Ziqing’s mind was a mess. Just as she tried to run, a hand reached out from behind the sofa and grabbed her by the wrist. It was Yan Hui.
Terrified, Song Ziqing gasped but didn’t dare make a sound. Fortunately, it was pitch black, so Yan Hui couldn’t see her face.
Just as she was at her wit’s end, a tall figure appeared in front of her. The newcomer yanked Yan Hui’s drunken hand away, leaned down, and swept Song Ziqing up in a horizontal carry. Without a word, the figure turned and strode out of the cellar.
Lu Ge, reacting late, looked at the retreating figure and rubbed her eyes, mumbling, “Lu Qinnian! She took my baby away.”
The crowd stood stunned for a moment before letting out a chorus of whistles. “Doesn’t President Lu have zero interest in Omegas?”
Yan Hui tilted her head, bringing the hand that had held Song Ziqing to her nose. She inhaled greedily and raised an eyebrow. “I think I can find out exactly who this top-tier Omega is.”
“Top tier?” Lu Ge grumbled, sounding a bit bitter. “How does a joyless person like Lu Qinnian get all the good luck? I’m so jealous!”
