- The Villain Turned Out to Be a Scummy Omega? [GL]
- Chapter 2 - Bad Influences Have Many Tricks
The Lu family mansion was situated in the suburbs of the East District. As the car passed through the main gates, it was flanked by lush, decorative trees. Further ahead, a sprawling golf course came into view on the right.
Beside the course lay a large pond, perfect for fishing or family picnics. As the car pulled up to the villa, an outdoor swimming pool was visible just to the rear left.
Song Ziqing stepped inside and her eyes widened at the sheer opulence of the interior. Even the ornaments near the entrance were handcrafted artworks worth hundreds of thousands.
With such “inhumane” levels of wealth on display, it was no wonder the original host had been consumed by greed and tried to seize it all for herself.
Song Ziqing shook her head vigorously. She couldn’t let herself be blinded by money; she absolutely had to stay on the path of righteousness. Given how much the Lu family adored her, even without the inheritance, she was guaranteed a life of effortless luxury.
It’s much better to just be a carefree, wealthy socialite, Song Ziqing thought, smiling foolishly to herself.
The Lu mother and daughters watched her with growing apprehension. Lu Kui looked worried. “Did she actually break her brain in the blast?”
Lu Ge stepped forward immediately, clutching Song Ziqing’s arm with an aching heart. “Sister, come. Let me take you to your room.”
Song Ziqing felt a wave of immense gratitude. She hurried after her upstairs; if Lu Ge hadn’t offered, she wouldn’t have even known which room was hers after “living” there for decades. That would have surely blown her cover.
On the second floor, the master bedroom and study belonging to the Lu parents were directly ahead.
Turning at the left corner led to an open-air glass corridor that overlooked the flowerbeds below. This walkway connected four separate villas to the main building, forming an extended fan shape.
Each of the four villas had to be accessed through this glass corridor from the main house. The ground floors of these separate villas served as the girls’ respective private bases.
When Song Ziqing entered her own villa, she was momentarily stunned. It wasn’t overly flashy; it featured a minimalist European style with a study, a music room, and even a fully equipped kitchen.
The rooftop was covered in various flowers and featured a charming gazebo—perfect for afternoon tea though none of this truly felt like “her” style yet.
As they headed down toward the “private base” on the first floor, Lu Ge looked excited. “Are you finally taking me into your basement?”
Song Ziqing’s heart skipped a beat as she instantly went on high alert. To play the part of an Alpha perfectly and avoid suspicion, the original host had built a “playroom” in the basement, filled with whips, chairs, and various gadgets—both electric and manual.
Seeing Lu Ge eagerly reaching for the door, Song Ziqing grabbed her and pulled her back. “Hehe, Gege, how about a cup of coffee instead?”
She practically shoved Lu Ge back upstairs. Lu Ge pouted, winking suggestively. “I actually really wanted to see what’s down there.”
Song Ziqing shook her head frantically. If they went in there and their pheromones went wild from the excitement, she’d be finished. Lu Ge was known for being quite “open-minded” about such things.
Song Ziqing brewed a cup of coffee. Lu Ge took it with a confused expression. In her memory, Song Ziqing only ever drank freshly ground beans. Why was she suddenly serving instant coffee?
Noticing the odd look, Song Ziqing froze. “What’s wrong?”
“Don’t you usually only drink hand-ground coffee?” Lu Ge asked.
Song Ziqing’s heart hammered against her ribs. There were too many details in the original story; how was she supposed to remember them all? She forced herself to remain calm. “As long as the coffee is good and has a nice flavor, it doesn’t matter if it was hand-ground or not.”
She added uneasily, “Besides, this is coffee provided by my sisters. How could I not try it?”
“Aww, Qingqing is so sweet!” Lu Ge exclaimed, pulling her into an enthusiastic hug.
She quickly finished the coffee. “Oh, by the way, to celebrate your release from the hospital, Mum is throwing a party tonight. She’s invited some friends over to play. Get yourself ready! I’m going to go prepare, too—I can’t let anyone underestimate the charm of a Movie Queen!”
“Huh?” Song Ziqing watched her rush out.
Hospitalized at noon, discharged in the afternoon, and a party at night?
Song Ziqing had assumed a “party” meant a few close acquaintances sitting around for dinner, much like her own evening barbecue sessions with friends.
She was completely unprepared for the sight that greeted her when she turned the corner of the corridor. The first-floor living room was filled with champagne, red wine, and rows of hors d’oeuvres.
A crowd of elegantly dressed women in various evening gowns were chatting while holding champagne flutes.
Lu Qinnian walked over from the end of the hallway. Seeing the girl standing dazed at the corner, she knit her brows. Standing there without even changing into a dress what kind of scheme was she plotting now?
“What are you up to this time?” Lu Qinnian asked irritably.
Song Ziqing jumped and turned around. She froze for a moment as she took in Lu Qinnian, who was wearing a red, mid-length strapless dress. The pearl necklace around her neck made her look exceptionally cold and noble.
Seeing the girl staring intently at her, Lu Qinnian’s brow furrowed further with disgust. “Now that I’ve found you out, you’re not even going to bother pretending anymore?”
“Hmm?” Song Ziqing snapped out of it, looking at her in confusion.
Lu Qinnian’s lips twitched. She took a step forward, pinning Song Ziqing against the wall. She leaned down and blew a soft breath against the back of the girl’s neck.
Song Ziqing shivered violently, her entire body locking up.
Lu Qinnian tilted her head, observing Song Ziqing as she stood stiff with clenched fists. At such a close distance, combined with Song Ziqing’s nervous state, Lu Qinnian immediately caught the scent of her Omega pheromones.
As if confirming her discovery once more, she let out a dark, mocking smile and stepped back. “Go change. Don’t embarrass the Lu family.”
It took Song Ziqing a long time to recover her senses. She calmed her racing heart and peeked out to watch Lu Qinnian’s retreating figure.
Lu Qinnian had a graceful silhouette with perfect curves and pale skin. With every step, her hips swayed slightly, and with every sway, Song Ziqing’s heart beat a little faster.
As Lu Qinnian headed downstairs, she glanced back. Song Ziqing immediately pulled her head back and shook it violently, muttering to herself, “She’s probably planning a way to kill me, and here I am thinking nonsense!”
Just as she finished speaking, Lu Kui walked over and looked at her curiously. “Qingqing, why aren’t you in your gown yet?”
Song Ziqing jumped. “I’m going to change right now!”
Lu Kui watched her run off, blinking in confusion. As she passed the spot where Song Ziqing had been standing, a faint scent of pheromones brushed against her nose. Lu Kui froze.
She then let out a helpless laugh and shook her head. “That little girl… where did she go to provoke an Omega?”
Feeling a sense of pride, Lu Kui walked downstairs, mumbling to herself, “She really has grown up, hasn’t she!”
In her room, Song Ziqing found several gowns laid out neatly in the walk-in wardrobe. There were four or five pieces, all the latest seasonal arrivals. She chose a relatively low-key silver sequined mini-skirt and hurried back out.
The party in the hall was already in full swing. The elders were gathered on the sofas, sipping champagne and making small talk.
The younger generation was busy dancing and having a grand time.
Since the Movie Queen, Lu Ge, was present, the atmosphere was incredibly lively. Lu Ge was a social butterfly, moving effortlessly between the guests.
In the Lu family, Lu Ge was the expert communicator, while Lu Kui was gentle and possessed a keen eye for detail—making her Lu Qinnian’s right-hand woman. Thus, Lu Ge was usually the one controlling the room at events like this.
Suddenly, an uninvited guest arrived. The butler hurried in to announce them, but the visitor followed closely behind, not waiting for an invitation.
The room went silent. The newcomer was the eldest daughter of the Lu family’s rival house, the Yan family: Yan Hui. She was the current head of the Yan family and Lu Qinnian’s arch-nemesis.
The air instantly grew tense. Yan Hui was dressed in a light blue casual suit with her hair in a high ponytail. Her eyes were narrowed into a smile that carried a cold, detached elegance. Her beauty was striking enough to put anyone on guard.
Chairman Lu looked toward the wine cabinet, where Lu Qinnian stood holding a glass of champagne. Lu Qinnian was watching the newcomer with an indifferent expression, taking a slow sip of her drink.
Yan Hui spread her hands as the girl behind her stepped forward with an awkward smile. “Qinnian, Miss Yan Hui heard I was coming to celebrate Qingqing’s recovery and said she wanted to come along to offer her congratulations. I’m sure Qingqing wouldn’t mind, right?”
“I’d be happy to have her.”
A clear voice rang out from the top of the stairs. Song Ziqing had been watching from the landing for a while before speaking up.
Her innocent, almond-shaped eyes were slightly narrowed, making her look both clever and pure. She descended the stairs and, under the astonished gazes of the crowd, walked straight toward the entrance.
The silver sequins highlighted her fair shoulders and neck. Her long hair was pinned back with a pearl clip, giving her the air of a noble princess.
The hem of her skirt hit mid-thigh, showing off her well-proportioned, slender legs. Her small feet were encased in silver high heels; with every step, the pearls on them swayed rhythmically, looking quite dazzling.
Yan Hui sized her up. Her crimson lips tilted slightly. Song Ziqing’s lively eyes turned down slightly at the corners, giving her an expression that triggered a protective instinct in those around her. It was no wonder she was the “pearl” that the otherwise cold Lu family held in the palms of their hands.
“Hello,” Song Ziqing said, extending her hand.
The guests turned to look at the Lu family, holding their breath. The Lu family’s most pampered daughter was actually offering a handshake to their rival? Wouldn’t Lu Qinnian be livid? It seemed the family wasn’t as united as they appeared!
Yan Hui was stunned. She hadn’t expected the handshake and reached out her hand almost mechanically.
Song Ziqing tilted her head and smiled broadly as she held out her hand. “Where’s my gift?”
Yan Hui froze again. Song Ziqing pouted. “You came to celebrate and didn’t bring a gift?”
“Oh!” Yan Hui quickly turned and took a prepared gift from the girl beside her, handing it over with both hands in a bit of a daze.
Song Ziqing took the gift box and began unwrapping it right there. “A gift from Miss Yan Hui must be very special. I can’t wait; I have to see it now.”
Just as she loosened the ribbon, the box was suddenly taken from her hands.
Song Ziqing looked up to see Lu Qinnian, who had appeared beside her unnoticed. Lu Qinnian looked at the gift, then at Yan Hui, and said in a cool tone, “I’ll help her open it. I’d also like to see what the head of the Yan family would give my sister for the first time.”
Lu Kui finally snapped out of it and rushed over. “Let me do it.”
Yan Hui’s expression shifted, and she burst into laughter. “What? Are you all worried there’s a bomb in my gift?”
The crowd froze as the tension spiked. Chairman Lu, sitting further back, was the only one who laughed. “How could that be? We already had an explosion this morning.”
Yan Hui nodded respectfully toward her. “Chairman Lu has a point. Have you found out who caused the explosion earlier? If not, the Yan family would be happy to assist in the investigation.”
Song Ziqing’s heart hammered. Please, no! If Yan Hui found out it was her, who knew what she would do? She wasn’t any kinder than Lu Qinnian.
She quickly snatched the gift back. “No need. We handle our own affairs. There’s no need for outsiders to interfere.”
Lu Qinnian gave Song Ziqing a meaningful look as she watched the girl frantically unwrap the box, assuming she was afraid of being exposed as the bomber. Lu Qinnian said, “If Miss Yan Hui is willing to help, then why don’t we entrust her with finding out who put the bomb in my office? What do you think?”
Yan Hui was taken aback, wondering if Lu Qinnian had lost her mind. Was she not afraid the Yan family would use the opportunity to cause more trouble?
Panic-stricken, Song Ziqing pulled out the gift—a handcrafted artistic ornament by a master, a pink rabbit that was exquisitely cute.
“Wow, thank you! I love this gift,” Song Ziqing interjected quickly, grabbing Yan Hui’s arm to pull her away. “Come, sit over here.”
Lu Qinnian watched with a faint, unreadable smile as Song Ziqing led Yan Hui away.
The crowd only recovered after a few moments. “That rabbit is a work by Master Meng! It’s a handcrafted item that’s not for sale. To be able to get hold of it and give it away… that’s Yan Hui for you!”
Lu Kui glanced at Lu Qinnian. “What’s going on?”
Lu Qinnian shook her head. “It’s nothing.”
Lu Ge, who had been observing from the sidelines, walked toward the sofa where the two were sitting, champagne in hand. Yan Hui noticed her first, and her gaze softened. “The Movie Queen is here too. Why didn’t I see you earlier?”
Song Ziqing was busy admiring her rabbit while Lu Ge, dressed in a dark green slip dress, sat down. As a classic beauty with striking features, her bright red lipstick made her look opulent and regal—like a rich flower of the human world.
She sat down beside Yan Hui under the admiring gazes of the room, poured some champagne, and handed it over. “Please.”
Yan Hui studied the woman beside her, brought the glass to her lips, and took a sip. “Wine poured by the Movie Queen herself indeed tastes better.”
“Is that so?” Lu Ge leaned in closer, her eyes burning as she studied Yan Hui’s lips. She whispered suggestively, “The taste is even better if it’s hand-fed.”
Song Ziqing watched the two with wide eyes. Lu Ge casually licked her own lips and asked in a sultry voice, “Do you want some?”
The corners of Yan Hui’s mouth curled up, and she let out a laugh. “They say the third daughter of the Lu family is the best at flirting. It seems the rumors are true.”
With that, she tilted her head back and drained the champagne. Song Ziqing swallowed hard. Aren’t they both Alphas? Is Lu Ge really hitting on the rival family’s Alpha daughter?
Suddenly, she was pulled away. Song Ziqing snapped out of it and looked at the girl in front of her. It was the same girl who had brought Yan Hui—the one who seemed very close to Lu Qinnian.
A realization hit Song Ziqing. In the original story, the only person close to both Lu Qinnian and Yan Hui was the supporting female character who had a crush on Lu Qinnian: Xie Muqing, a high-quality Omega.
In the original plot, the villainous Song Ziqing had even tried to seduce her to create a misunderstanding and drive a wedge between her and Lu Qinnian, which eventually prevented them from ending up together.
“Let’s go play over here,” Xie Muqing said gently, turning back.
Song Ziqing was momentarily captivated. Xie Muqing had “peach blossom” eyes that were as soft as water, and her voice was soothingly gentle. She truly had the charm of a high-quality Omega.
Xie Muqing led her into the underground wine cellar and began acting like the host, arranging a group to sit down. “You guys play; I won’t join in.”
She patted Song Ziqing’s shoulder, gave a mischievous smile, and walked out. Left sitting on the sofa, Song Ziqing was confused until someone sat down beside her, draping an arm around her shoulder. “Qing-ye, let’s cut loose tonight!”
Song Ziqing looked at the handsome girl. She had somewhat masculine features, but her voice was sweet. This was likely Xiao Ran, one of the “bad influences” the original host hung out with to make the Lu family think she was aimless and no threat to them.
Seeing the glasses being filled, Song Ziqing began to drink without a second thought. She looked at the walls of vintage wines and rows of cabinets—the wealth here was truly staggering.
After a few glasses, she felt a bit tipsy. Xiao Ran pulled out a bottle of specially made red wine. “Shall we all let loose for once?”
The group, already buzzing from the alcohol, nodded in agreement. Song Ziqing was lost, but the person next to her patted her shoulder and laughed. “What’s there to be afraid of? We’re all Alphas here. Just release a bit and relax.”
Song Ziqing instantly panicked. Release what? There were a dozen Alphas here, and she was the only Omega—and an S-rank one at that. If she released her pheromones, she’d end up with eighteen kids in one go!
Holy crap! Her scalp felt numb as she looked for a chance to escape.
Meanwhile, in the living room, Lu Ge had been pestering Yan Hui to drink, not letting her leave her side all night. Both were slightly tipsy. Yan Hui looked at the woman beside her. “I’ve troubled the Movie Queen to watch over me all night.”
“It’s no trouble; it’s my honor.” Lu Ge leaned her head against Yan Hui’s chest, her face flushed as she looked up with a deep, soulful gaze. “I hope I didn’t stop you from hitting on anyone else?”
Yan Hui held her own glass to Lu Ge’s lips. “With the Movie Queen by my side, how could I have eyes for anyone else?”
As Lu Ge lowered her head to drink from the glass, she occasionally glanced up with a playful look. Yan Hui’s heart skipped a beat, and her pulse quickened. She had never seen anyone make drinking look so seductive yet pure. If Lu Ge were an Omega, she would have surrendered long ago.
At that moment, the butler whispered something in Lu Ge’s ear about the basement. Lu Ge’s expression shifted, and she gritted her teeth in anger. “That little girl never lets me rest! It’s infuriating! I can’t let her do that!”
Lu Ge stood up, but then she gave a sly smile to the confused Yan Hui. “Care for something exciting?”
“If you dare, why wouldn’t I?” Yan Hui was also quite drunk. The two swaying women leaned on each other as they staggered toward the wine cellar.
In the cellar, Song Ziqing was frowning. One person had already drunk the wine Xiao Ran had brought. Fortunately, they were just an ordinary Alpha; given that this body was used to being around high-quality Alphas, she wasn’t particularly affected.
But if they kept drinking and all these Alphas released their pheromones, it was inevitable that she would be attracted. Once her own pheromones were triggered, her secret would be out!
Seeing her looking distracted, Xiao Ran acted hurt. “Qingqing, I went through a lot of trouble to get this wine. Releasing pheromones is just a way to relax; it feels great. There are no Omegas here, so there’s no risk of things getting out of hand. Just drink; I promise you’ll love the feeling of completely letting go!”
I’m finished. Song Ziqing looked at the full glass in front of her, her mind racing for an excuse that wouldn’t raise suspicion but would allow her to escape safely.
Just as Xiao Ran handed her the glass, the door to the cellar opened. Lu Ge and Yan Hui walked in, supporting each other like best friends, their faces flushed with wine. Xiao Ran tactfully moved aside, and Yan Hui sat right next to Song Ziqing.
Lu Ge boasted, “Am I good or what? I even got the famous ‘Ice Queen’ drunk!”
Song Ziqing looked blankly at her. Yan Hui looked up at her, then at the wine in her hand, and reached out for it. Song Ziqing jumped and pulled the glass away.
Yan Hui was an elite Alpha. If she released her pheromones, Song Ziqing wouldn’t be able to escape.
But Lu Ge helped Yan Hui sit down and snatched the glass from Song Ziqing. “Qingqing, don’t be so stingy. Let Miss Yan Hui experience it too.”
She shoved the glass into the hands of the equally muddled Yan Hui. As Yan Hui raised the glass, Song Ziqing desperately tried to stop her.
The group looked at her in surprise. Lu Ge, having completely forgotten why she came down, just wanted to see Yan Hui make a fool of herself.
“Qingqing, you’re being too stingy! I’ll buy you plenty more another day. Let her have this one.”
Song Ziqing smiled bitterly to herself. If she kept protesting, it would be impossible not to raise suspicions. In the original story, she was supposed to be generous and easygoing to maintain her facade of innocence.
She reluctantly withdrew her hand, forcing a calm smile. “I just thought… maybe it was poured too full?”
“It’s not too full at all!” Lu Ge urged, lifting Yan Hui’s hand to help her drink it down.
