Divorce? I’ll take my sister-in-law with me instead!
Upon waking up, Lin Ning a mere “extra” from the end times—finds herself transmigrated into a 1970s period novel as the vicious ex-wife. According to the original plot, she is destined to divorce the male lead, Gu Yan, just as his family falls from grace. She would go on to cause the death of his younger sister, Gu Rou, only to be sent to prison and meet a tragic end at the hands of Gu Yan once he is exonerated and returns to power.
Looking at the despairing Gu family, who have just received their relocation notice to the countryside, Lin Ning tears up the script.
Divorce? Fine! But she’s leaving tonight, and she’s taking her sister-in-law’s household registration with her! After changing the girl’s name, she plans to “run away” with her in tow.
Everyone curses her for being heartless, ungrateful, and a looter who kicks people while they are down. Even the Gu parents are utterly disappointed in her. Little do they know, she is heading straight for the Great Northwest the very place the Gu family has been exiled armed with her “spoils of war” and the ultimate “life-saving charm” (the sister-in-law).
Her plan is simple: stay on her sister-in-law’s good side, secretly provide aid to the Gu family, and wait for the male lead to make his comeback.
But when she finds her “ex-husband” covered in blood and gasping for breath in a cattle shed, she realizes that this path to redemption is far more thrilling and soul-stirring than she ever imagined.
And that man, who was once as cold as frost toward her, begins to look at her with an increasingly complex and unreadable gaze…
