The Vampire Tycoon Secretly Loves Me - Chapter 3
Yin Chen leaned sideways against the doorframe, watching Ye Linghan, who stood frozen in place. He couldn’t understand why the man looked as if he had seen a ghost, his expression filled with such consternation.
“Still not leaving? Are you waiting for me to invite you out?”
The flat tone of his words was a perfect match for his cold, elegant appearance.
Hearing this, Ye Linghan snapped back to his senses. He hurriedly stood up and walked quickly to stand before Yin Chen.
In a crowd, Ye Linghan considered himself fairly tall, even possessing a slight advantage in height. However, standing next to the 195cm Yin Chen, his presence was utterly eclipsed. In such proximity, Ye Linghan was forced to tilt his head back to look at him.
“You… how did you get here?” Yin Chen rarely discussed the details of his work with him, and since he had left in such a hurry this time, Ye Linghan hadn’t asked when he would return. Furthermore, Ye Linghan had called the butler, making Yin Chen’s appearance entirely unexpected.
“I didn’t see you when I got home. The butler said you were here, so I came.” Yin Chen’s voice was icy. His skin was so pale it lacked even a trace of blood, giving him an aura that warned others not to come near.
Ye Linghan understood and nodded. “Shall we head back then?”
Yin Chen didn’t speak. He simply turned and walked out, appearing to dislike the place intensely—as if he wouldn’t have stayed a single moment longer if Ye Linghan hadn’t been there.
Knowing Yin Chen’s temperament, Ye Linghan had long since grown accustomed to his cold face. He followed silently behind. After a few steps, they came face-to-face with Su Mo and Yao Qingluan, who were quietly retreating, sensing that the atmosphere was off.
Because he now had someone backing him up, Ye Linghan felt a surge of energy and decided to indulge in a moment of verbal sparring. “Working overtime so late? You’ve certainly had a hard time~.”
Having left the oppressive room, Ye Linghan’s mood had brightened instantly. His tone was no longer as heavy as it had been in the interrogation room; it had regained a sense of vitality.
Su Mo shot him a glance, then looked up at Yin Chen’s back. Seeming somewhat wary of the man’s status, he said dryly, “I’m on the night shift. Mind your own business.”
Ye Linghan smiled faintly and didn’t continue the teasing. He adhered to the principle of leaving a way out for future encounters, as he had an intuition that this wouldn’t be the last time they met.
On the way back, Ye Linghan sat in the back seat of the car. The busy vampire young master sat right beside him. The partition in front had already been tactfully raised by the driver, leaving the rear space exclusively to the two of them.
In such an enclosed space, it felt like a waste not to do something.
A few naughty thoughts began to swirl in Ye Linghan’s mind.
However, he was truly exhausted. The crash following his period of over-excitement left him feeling drained. As the car jolted, acting like a gently swaying cradle, his eyelids grew heavier, and his consciousness flickered. Emboldened by his fatigue, he took a daring chance and leaned his head onto Yin Chen’s shoulder.
From the moment they left the interrogation room, Yin Chen hadn’t uttered a word. Seeing Ye Linghan slumped against his shoulder, fast asleep and dead to the world, he initially thought to pull his arm away. Ultimately, however, he didn’t do it, allowing the man to lean against him.
They had left early enough to miss the morning rush hour, bypassing it perfectly. Consequently, the journey was smooth and unobstructed.
The driver did not take the car to Ye Linghan’s apartment. Instead, he drove to Yin Chen’s private villa, located in a quiet, sprawling suburban area of the East City.
After the long journey back and forth, Yin Chen was also weary. He leaned against the backrest with his eyes closed for a nap. Feeling the car slowly come to a halt, he opened his eyes and said flatly to the driver, “You go first.”
“Yes, sir.” The driver, paid to follow orders without question, left quickly and efficiently.
Ye Linghan was still sleeping deeply. As he leaned on Yin Chen’s shoulder, a few strands of hair brushed against Yin Chen’s forehead. It was slightly itchy, causing him to frown in discomfort.
Yin Chen looked down at Ye Linghan. This was the first time he had viewed him from this top-down angle. Ye Linghan’s features were very soft—one could even say he was beautiful—yet there was a hidden sharpness within that softness. Strangely, these two conflicting traits did not clash at all on Ye Linghan’s face.
His eyelashes were very long, casting a shadow over his lower eyelids. Yin Chen’s gaze remained fixed on Ye Linghan’s face. He subconsciously reached out his hand, wanting to touch him. Just as he was about to make contact, a soft murmur from Ye Linghan broke Yin Chen’s train of thought.
He withdrew his hand. The momentary softness that had colored his gaze vanished instantly, replaced by a piercing coldness. Yin Chen reached out to open the car door, then scooped Ye Linghan up in a horizontal carry and stepped out of the vehicle.
The commotion woke Ye Linghan slightly. He opened his eyes blearily and saw Yin Chen’s sharp, well-defined jawline. For a moment, he was dazed. “Are we home?”
“Mhm,” Yin Chen replied coldly.
“Then put me down. I can walk myself,” Ye Linghan said, struggling to get down.
He wasn’t as reckless in front of Yin Chen as he was with others. Because of their difference in status, he was much more restrained in his temperament. Usually, he would mentally rehearse what he should and shouldn’t say before opening his mouth. After all, with Yin Chen’s power, if he truly offended him, it would be effortless for Yin Chen to make him disappear without a trace.
“Don’t move.” Yin Chen’s tone was forceful, bordering on a command.
Ye Linghan shut his mouth instantly. Having been reckless once and tasted a bit of sweetness, he didn’t dare push his luck any further.
He rarely came to the suburban villa because Yin Chen protected his private life very well; almost no one knew he resided here.
Yin Chen carried Ye Linghan directly to the master bedroom on the second floor and tossed him onto the bed. The mattress was thick and soft. Ye Linghan felt a sense of weightlessness as he tumbled, and he only managed to sit steadily by bracing his hands behind him.
He felt that Yin Chen’s behavior was consistently strange, but he couldn’t quite put his finger on what was wrong.
Yin Chen took off his expensive, custom-made suit jacket and dropped it carelessly on the floor. Step by step, he approached the bed and stood before Ye Linghan.
At this moment, there were only the two of them in the villa. Yin Chen had ordered the butler to send everyone else away earlier that morning. As a result, the room was empty and desolate; the sound of a pin dropping would have been deafening.
Having removed his suit jacket, Yin Chen wore a white shirt with the hem tucked into his straight trousers, emphasizing his long legs and lean waist.
“Undo my tie.” Yin Chen leaned forward slightly toward Ye Linghan, leaving only a small distance between them.
Hearing this, Ye Linghan hurriedly got up. Moving forward on his knees, he knelt before Yin Chen and carefully began to untie the necktie.
Unlike before, the tie that usually came undone with ease now felt as if his fingers were tied in knots. They refused to cooperate, and he couldn’t get it undone despite trying for a long while.
That’s strange… Ye Linghan stared at the originally orderly tie knot. He suddenly felt a wave of dizziness, and his mind grew hazy.
Yin Chen noticed Ye Linghan’s abnormality but didn’t think much of it, assuming he was just exhausted from the lack of rest. He looked down at Ye Linghan from his height. Once the tie was finally loosened, Yin Chen reached out and grabbed Ye Linghan’s hand, pulling the tie away and letting it fall to the floor. Then, he leaned down and pressed him into the bed.
“Ugh…” Ye Linghan let out a startled cry. In his daze, he felt his hand enveloped in an icy chill, causing an involuntary shiver to run through his body. He felt his limbs grow weak as he was easily pinned down by Yin Chen.
“What are you doing?” He stared blankly at Yin Chen.
Yin Chen didn’t answer immediately. Instead, he buried his head in the side of Ye Linghan’s neck, lightly licking that patch of skin that was as thin as a cicada’s wing.
“Nothing much. Just routine business,” Yin Chen’s words drifted softly into Ye Linghan’s ear.
Thinking about people seeing the bite marks on his neck, Ye Linghan couldn’t help but shrink his neck back. Calculating the time, it had only been a few days since Yin Chen last bit him. Why was he doing it again?
But in matters like this, he had no power to resist.
Ye Linghan closed his eyes tightly, waiting for his sentence to be carried out. However, Yin Chen didn’t plunge his fangs in right away. Instead, he rubbed his teeth back and forth against the skin.
“Why didn’t you call me?”
“What?” Ye Linghan’s mind was currently a bit chaotic, so he didn’t react immediately.
Although his feelings for Yin Chen were complicated, his body was honest and unable to hide its response.
Yin Chen remained silent, like a predator playing with its prey, enjoying the victim’s final struggles.
In an instant, Ye Linghan realized what he meant and blurted out, “Because you were working.”
And that was the truth. Due to their respective statuses, Ye Linghan was subconsciously afraid of Yin Chen. Consequently, he didn’t rely on him for many things. When trouble arose, his first instinct wasn’t to find Yin Chen to solve the problem, but rather a fear of disturbing him.
However, this answer didn’t seem to be what Yin Chen wanted to hear. On the contrary, he frowned slightly upon hearing it, his face showing a rare flicker of emotion.
“Good. Very good.”
Ye Linghan was confused. Yin Chen’s expression seemed to be one of displeasure, but his words were spoken so flatly that it was impossible to tell what he was feeling. For a moment, Ye Linghan couldn’t guess his thoughts.
Yin Chen was naturally cold and a man of few words; he preferred to express everything through action. Therefore, he didn’t obsess over whether Ye Linghan understood his meaning. To him, it wasn’t important anyway. He intended to close the net and swallow his prey whole.
Just as Yin Chen’s fangs were about to pierce the skin, he suddenly sensed a slight anomaly in the surroundings. A scent that shouldn’t belong to this villa was approaching. Simultaneously, a voice came from outside the door: “Brother, are you in there?”
Ye Linghan also heard the call. He snapped his eyes open. Out of a subconscious sense of guilt, he almost reached out to push the person off him, but his reason forcefully yanked his hand back.
He repeated to himself: In a moment like this, you must stay calm. After all, a boss whose “mood” had been interrupted was bound to be furious. If he did anything against Yin Chen’s wishes now, he would surely suffer the consequences.
Yin Chen let out a low grunt, expressing his dissatisfaction. He sat up, glanced at Ye Linghan lying on the bed, and pulled a nearby quilt over him.
Suppressing the anger in his heart, Yin Chen went to the bedroom door and swung it open. The person outside was startled by the violent opening of the door, but upon seeing Yin Chen, a smile returned to their eyes.
Yin Chen was currently disheveled. One of the buttons on his shirt was undone, revealing a glimpse of his collarbone. Because he had been pressing against Ye Linghan for so long, his shirt was covered in wrinkles.
Through the gap in the doorway, Ye Linghan saw the visitor’s face.
The newcomer was Yin Ste, Yin Chen’s half-brother. Due to the grievances of the previous generation, Yin Chen didn’t like him much. He only maintained a facade of family harmony in front of outsiders.
Yin Ste tilted his head and caught sight of Ye Linghan lying on the bed. For a fleeting second, his eyes flickered.
