Chapter 5: Big Brother is Pink Caring For My Silly Big Brother Like A Wife
Fu Xici was the type of person who looked lean in clothes but was well-built underneath. Although he didn’t focus on working out, his physique was excellent—likely because he ate slowly and didn’t consume much, preventing him from gaining weight.
He was naturally tall. If it weren’t for his condition, his stature and aura would make him the one among the four children who resembled Fu Kaijiang the most. Though handsome, his face carried a natural, intimidating dignity.
Lu Yunchuan wasn’t short either, standing at 1.8 meters, but his limbs were slender and his features delicate. He looked like a “good boy,” but in reality, he was a notorious, high-flying second-generation heir. At an active age, he was the star of the school basketball team, possessing six-pack abs; his body was perfectly balanced—neither too muscular nor too thin.
Even as a tall boy, he was still just coming into his own. In his big brother’s arms, he seemed small. Fu Xici’s “double-door” wide shoulders could completely envelop him.
The two brothers hadn’t slept together like this in a long time. Ever since Lu Yunchuan realized having a “silly” brother was embarrassing and started avoiding him, Fu Xici had stopped approaching him. Yet, in this house, the only person Fu Xici truly cared about was Lu Yunchuan.
Not for any other reason than the fact that Lu Yunchuan had grown up in his arms. Among the four children, only the young Lu Yunchuan had been close to him; Fu Xici had once treated Lu Yunchuan as his sole psychological anchor. But after starting middle school, that anchor had pulled away.
Fu Xici knew he embarrassed Lu Yunchuan, so he stopped trying. His sister and youngest brother refused to go near him at all. Even though he had become this way by saving his sister, she treated him like a stranger, looking right through him. In fact, no one in the Fu family—including the butler and the nannies—took him seriously. Fu Xici was used to it.
But for some reason, the younger brother who had been avoiding him was now taking the initiative to be close, being so gentle and kind. It left Fu Xici bewildered. He wondered if the three days of high fever had broken his brother’s brain.
He thought slowly and acted slowly. In his world, every normal action seemed to be played at 0.5x speed. He tried hard to act like a normal person, but he could never quite manage it.
Lu Yunchuan’s hand rested on his chest as he fell asleep again. His body was burning hot, yet he was shivering. Fu Xici turned off the lights and slowly reached out to pull him close.
His brother had grown up; he was no longer the small child of the past. He could barely hold him all at once anymore…
The May Day holiday had just ended. High school seniors were facing their most stressful time preparing for the college entrance exams. Lu Yunchuan was already prepared to repeat his senior year; he was determined to use a year to break through his limits. It would be hard, but not impossible.
After Fu Lingchuan finished middle school, his foster parents hadn’t let him continue his education. He hadn’t attended high school, but he was clever. Even if Lu Changgui wouldn’t pay for school, he bought second-hand textbooks from the flea market to teach himself. He knew that education was the only way to escape that kind of family. He had been looking for a chance—he never expected such a huge opportunity to fall from the sky.
The more he thought about someone else living his life, the more he hated that person. He didn’t want Lu Yunchuan to stay in the Fu family for a single second. Why should he suffer for eighteen years while the person who should have suffered enjoyed luxury?
The more he thought about it, the more his teeth itched with hatred. Yet, this “shameless” interloper was like a ball of cotton; no matter what schemes were used against him, they had no effect. Lu Yunchuan was clearly terrified of going back to a life of hardship.
Actually, Lu Yunchuan wasn’t afraid of hardship. As long as he didn’t have to deal with those blood-sucking parents, he was an adult and could find a job to keep himself from starving. But he couldn’t leave Fu Xici. He was afraid his big brother would repeat the tragedy of the previous life. Since he was back, he had to watch over him—at least to ensure his brother could have his own home and a caring wife this time.
Lu Yunchuan’s fever finally broke after a week. It was the longest cold he’d ever had. During this time, except for his “silly” brother who made him medicine every day, not a single person in the Fu family cared. This life’s Lu Yunchuan no longer minded. Beyond loving yourself, you can’t rely on anyone else. Growing up means accepting the fact that no one—not even parents or siblings—might love you.
With his cold gone, his previous gloom vanished. This morning, he woke up with his brother, put on his school uniform, and prepared for school. He attended an elite private high school, a gathering place for Beijing’s rich second-generation kids. Everyone there usually avoided him. He didn’t know if the news of his “fake heir” status had spread yet. If it had, the school would be rife with gossip.
His outfit was ready: a custom student suit with white-trimmed lapels over a black short-sleeved shirt. In the past, he never liked buttoning up and wore his tie loosely. This time, he was dressed strictly by the rules—buttoned to the top, with his red-and-black striped tie perfectly knotted. His hair was still bleached white, though; he’d have to find time today to dye it back to black.
He never used to think this uniform was comfortable, but now he found it quite sharp. His tall, lean frame looked exceptionally good in it. Fu Xici came out of the bathroom and stole a few extra glances.
Lu Yunchuan spun around at the door, full of youthful energy: Big Brother, do I look good?
Fu Xici looked him over and slowly nodded.
Lu Yunchuan grabbed his messenger bag, checked the contents, and prepared to leave. Fu Xici began to change. His movements were very slow, like a scene in a movie played in slow motion.
Lu Yunchuan watched him take off his pajamas. His skin was so white it seemed to glow—except for the two pink spots on his chest.
Big Brother’s nipples are pink.
His body looked robust, healthy, and powerful, yet those spots were pink. Lu Yunchuan stared for a few extra moments; he had never looked at his brother’s body so brazenly before. Lu Yunchuan was often outdoors, so he was a bit tan. In contrast, his brother’s skin rarely saw the sun, making it look an almost unhealthy, translucent white.
Seeing how slowly he was dressing, Lu Yunchuan’s impatient nature flared up. He walked over, brushed his brother’s hands aside, and started dressing him. Fu Xici’s expression shifted, looking down at him in confusion.
Lu Yunchuan put the shirt on him, pulled his arms through the sleeves, and started buttoning the collar. He looked up into Fu Xici’s eyes, his hands never stopping: “Watching you dress is killing me with suspense. Let me help.”
Fu Xici’s cold eyes blinked as he looked down at Lu Yunchuan’s silver hair. For some reason, his long-stagnant heart began to beat faster, especially when Lu Yunchuan looked up and smiled at him. Being slow to react, he didn’t know where this feeling came from, but he liked it. His younger brother seemed more sensible and smiled at him more; his obsidian-like eyes were full of tenderness.
Why? he wondered. He didn’t understand, but he liked it very much.
Fu Xici could never tie a necktie properly; it was always crooked. People used to mock him when he first joined the company, though they eventually got used to it. Today, Lu Yunchuan dressed him and tied his tie before they left. He was as gentle and patient as a wife caring for her husband.
Unfortunately, he wasn’t a wife; he was just a brother.
It was early, just past 7:00 AM. The house wasn’t far from school—ten minutes by car, or roughly the same by bus.
When Lu Yunchuan went out, he saw the whole family having breakfast in the dining room. Fu Lingchuan was up early too. Lu Yunchuan pretended not to care and greeted them: Everyone’s up so early. Good morning. I’m heading out now.
He didn’t want to stay with them and looked for an opening to slip away. Suddenly, Fu Kaijiang called out: Yunchuan, wait. I have something to say to you.
Lu Yunchuan had a bad feeling. He put on a friendly smile: Dad, what is it? I’m in a hurry for class.
Fu Kaijiang gestured toward the dining room: Come in first.
Lu Yunchuan had no choice but to enter. Everyone’s gaze locked onto him, creating a pressurized atmosphere. Fu Kaijiang laid down his cutlery, took a napkin from the butler, and wiped his mouth with elegant movements. “Although your mother and I are reluctant to let you leave, we need to give your biological parents an explanation. After discussing it, we feel that returning to your own home is the best choice.”
Lu Yunchuan glanced at the True Young Master,” who was looking down while learning how to use a knife and fork. He let out a short laugh. “Is it your idea, or does someone think I’ll steal their things? I’ve returned everything to him—is there still no room for me? I said I could even be a servant. After eighteen years of affection, if I just walk away, wouldn’t I be an animal?
While the others kept up appearances, Fu Yunzhou had no filter. Hearing this, he rolled his eyes: “You’re thinking too much. No one in this house wants you to stay. You’re a mountain pheasant; go back to your nest.”
Lu Yunchuan’s expression didn’t change as he looked at his younger brother: “This house isn’t yours to rule yet. Shut the hell up.”
Fu Wangshu scoffed: “Still so arrogant. Fu Yunchuan, do you think you’re still the second young master? Our family’s second young master is sitting right here. Who do you think you are? Evicting you is just evicting you. What are you acting up for?”
Lu Yunchuan didn’t argue with her. He just looked at his parents. “If you two truly find me an eyesore, I will choose to leave. I only hope that after I go, you treat my big brother well. He has no presence in this house and no one cares for him. If he’s bullied, he won’t know who to turn to. I beg you both, be better to my brother.”
Fu Kaijiang’s heart softened slightly. Your big brother… he is the biological eldest son of the Fu family. No one will mistreat him.
Lu Yunchuan looked at Fu Lingchuan. My brother, in his state, is no threat to you at all. Since you’re back, no one is fighting you for the heir position. But if I find out you’ve bullied my brother at home, I promise I’ll break one of your legs. Try me if you don’t believe it.
Since they weren’t pretending anymore, neither would he. “Go ask around about what kind of reputation I, Fu Yunchuan, have in Beijing. If you don’t believe me, just wait and see.
Jiang Wanyue slammed the table: Enough! The affairs of the Fu family are no longer your concern. Tell us when you’re leaving; your father and I will prepare some money for you.
Lu Yunchuan waved his hand. No need. Since I’m being kicked out, there’s no need to go to school either. I’ll pack my things and leave now.
He let out a long breath. It seemed no matter how he tried to hide, he couldn’t escape the fate of being evicted. He turned to leave the dining room, only to see Fu Xici entering.
The eldest brother stood at the door, scanned everyone in the Fu family with a cold, steady gaze, and reached out his hand to Lu Yunchuan: “School.”
The brother, who usually stuttered and struggled to speak, had uttered a clear, complete word. Everyone stared at him, including Lu Yunchuan.
Fu Xici’s eyes carved a sharp, piercing glare into Fu Lingchuan before turning back to Fu Kaijiang. His thin lips trembled for a long time before he managed to voice a laborious sentence: I… support him.
He bent down, took Lu Yunchuan’s hand, and led him out the door.
Lu Yunchuan followed behind his brother, his eyes filled with shock. Was his silly big brother… protecting him?
