The Top-Tier Alpha Refuses to Be Pretty Cannon Fodder - Chapter 9
“I heard a new Omega came to the club looks amazing and has a first-rate shot.”
“What are you looking at? He’s hit ten for ten, straight in the bullseye. With that level of skill, he’s definitely an Alpha, no doubt.”
“I heard Biao-ge couldn’t take the hit to his pride and went in to challenge him.”
“Biao-ge is the legendary ‘God of Guns’ in this club. That Alpha is just a newcomer; there’s no way he can win, right?”
“Who knows? Let’s go see.”
Inside the TT Shooting Club, the sound of rhythmic gunfire echoed. The spectators outside the glass booths watched with bated breath, their blood beginning to boil with excitement. Biao-ge, the club’s undefeated champion, hadn’t met a worthy opponent in years. The man currently standing in the booth was rumored to be a first-timer.
A first-timer who dared to accept a challenge from the God of Guns.
Beneath a crisp black shirt, the man’s waist appeared lean and firm. His collar was fastened high, accentuating a tall, elegant stature. His exquisite face carried a sense of noble prestige, tempered by a cold, abstinent aloofness. Looking through his protective goggles, his eyes shone like stars.
The face was more radiant than any Omega’s, but the aura was the undeniable dominance and cold elegance of a top-tier Alpha.
A true disaster for the heart.
Bang! The shot echoed through the hall. As the target flipped, the scoreboard flashed the result: 10 Points.
This was the man’s ninth shot. A perfect streak. The crowd outside erupted in cheers. Even the Omegas in the audience, naturally drawn to the strong, watched with flushed faces.
In the adjacent booth, the rugged Alpha known as Ning Biao was drenched in sweat. Cold droplets rolled down his brow, over his Adam’s apple, and across his bulging muscles. He swallowed hard, staring at the distant target as he raised his weapon.
“Your hand is shaking.”
The speaker was Lu Yunli, the same man who had been at home only two hours ago. Standing still, his voice was detached and casual. Yet, that one sentence exposed Ning Biao’s internal panic.
Ning Biao’s face darkened. He grunted, flexed his aching fingers, and gripped the gun again.
Lu Yunli spoke again: “The sweat on your palm will reduce the friction against the grip. Give up. You can’t beat me.”
“Shut up!” Ning Biao hissed. He pulled the trigger.
10 Points. Ning Biao let out a long breath and lowered his gun.
“My turn,” Lu Yunli said. The moment Ning Biao’s gun touched the table, Lu Yunli’s gaze locked onto the target. Loading, raising his arm, and firing, the movements were a single, seamless flow.
10 Points.
“Another streak. Ten for ten.” “Twenty consecutive bullseyes? That’s insane.” “I think Biao-ge’s best record is only thirteen. If he misses the next one, he loses.” “Who is this guy? I’ve never seen such a powerful Alpha before.”
When Huo Yan arrived, this was the scene that greeted him. The person he was here to meet was currently the absolute center of attention.
“General, should we…”
Huo Yan raised a hand to silence the club manager. He followed the crowd’s gaze to the man in the glass booth. The person standing there had the exact same face as Lu Yunxing. But while Lu Yunxing was a fragile Omega in need of protection, the man before him was arrogant, vibrant, and the most dazzling Alpha in the room.
This was the man who had built the FLP Group from nothing to its current empire. He was a legend in M State. Huo Yan had seen him once from a distance years ago; he never expected their next meeting to be like this.
Bang!
Inside the booth, Lu Yunli looked at the “9” on Ning Biao’s target and arched an eyebrow. “Not bad. But compared to me… you’re still lacking.”
Ning Biao: “……”
The voice, tinged with a light chuckle and mock praise, felt like a slap in the face. Ning Biao slammed his gun onto the table and turned to shout at Lu Yunli, “Wait! One more round!”
“No.” Lu Yunli placed his gun back on the rack. He pulled off his goggles and brushed back his damp bangs. “You lost.”
As he peeled off his gloves, he felt a gaze—distinctly more intense than the others—land on him. He paused, turned his head slightly, and saw Huo Yan standing in the crowd.
The autumn air was crisp. Huo Yan wore a long black coat that made his tall frame look even more imposing. The gold tassels of his glasses rested on his shoulder refined, handsome, and sharp.
The glass door was suddenly pulled open. Ning Biao had marched over, blocking the exit. Lu Yunli looked at him coldly. “Something else?”
That indifferent, freezing gaze made Ning Biao instinctively want to retreat. He steadied himself and shouted angrily, “You… you spoke on purpose earlier to distract me! It doesn’t count. We go again!”
“I said: you lost.” Lu Yunli narrowed his eyes and stepped forward. “You are not my opponent. Now, move while I’m still in a good mood.”
“Dammit!” Ning Biao cursed, stepping in to block Lu Yunli’s path. “So many people are watching. You’ve trashed my reputation. If I let you walk away like this, how am I supposed to save face?”
In the next second, the air was flooded with pheromones that smelled like rusted iron. Lu Yunli felt the pressure of the Alpha confrontation but didn’t move an inch. He toyed with the black ring on his pinky and sneered.
“A low-level Alpha dares to be so insolent in my presence?”
Lu Yunli stepped forward, completely ignoring the pheromone suppression, and delivered a swift kick that sent Ning Biao flying out of the booth.
Ning Biao hit the floor with a pained groan, his eyes wide with shock. “How… how are my pheromones not affecting you?” He couldn’t even catch a scent of Lu Yunli’s own pheromones.
Lu Yunli looked down at him. “Pheromone suppression only works between Alphas of equal strength. Do you honestly think you’re on my level?”
Ning Biao’s jaw dropped. In all of M State, there were fewer than ten Alphas with an S-rank mental capacity. Their files were sealed in the highest security archives of the Empire. They were the pinnacle of existence.
Is the man standing before me one of them?
“General!” “Why is the General here?” “Two Alphas in one room? This place is going to explode.”
Lu Yunli heard the whispers and looked up. Huo Yan had stopped directly in front of him.
“General, this guy, he bullied, ” Ning Biao started to complain.
Huo Yan ignored him. He placed a hand over his heart and bowed slightly to the man in the black shirt. “The roads were congested. Have I kept you waiting, President Lu?”
The crowd: “……” Ning Biao: “…………”
Wait… President Lu?
There was only one “President Lu” in M State who could command such respect from General Huo Yan: the powerful and mysterious CEO of the FLP Group, Lu Yunli. He was also the only known Top-Tier Alpha, the strongest existence in the nation.
