The Stunning Omega CEO Always Wants Me to Mark Her - Chapter 4
The internet café had a quirky name—Saucy Cat Net Café.
The environment was nice, and with its location so close to the school, students often dropped by.
Wen Xiangzhu walked in still wearing her school uniform, which immediately made her stand out.
The woman at the front desk, the owner, looked up when she heard the bell. She rose to her feet with a smile, smoothing the curls draped across her chest.
“Little sister, never seen you here before. Want to boot up a computer?”
“No, not that.” Wen Xiangzhu quickly shook her head. The faint smell of smoke hung in the air. She pinched the corner of her uniform nervously and added, “I’m here to look for someone.”
A few customers nearby, hearing the exchange, turned their heads curiously to size her up.
The owner gave a short nod and glanced deeper inside. “Find your friend and head out quick. This isn’t really the kind of place you should be.”
With that, she sat back down. “Go on in.”
Wen Xiangzhu thanked her softly and walked further inside.
An Omega in an internet café was bound to draw attention—let alone one as striking as her.
For a moment, nearly every gaze lifted from glowing screens to settle on her figure.
She ducked her head, uncomfortable under the scrutiny, but since she was looking for Lin Sui, she had no choice but to raise her eyes again and scan the rows.
The farther she went, the worse the air became.
Alongside the cigarette smoke came the salty tang of instant noodles.
Most players were still locked onto their games. After a cursory glance at her, they eagerly returned to their keyboards, shouting into headsets at their teammates.
The room was noisy, stuffy, suffocating. Wen Xiangzhu disliked this kind of atmosphere. Instinctively, she quickened her pace, hoping to find Lin Sui and leave as soon as possible.
Just then, a slightly overweight man stood up from his station, pulling off his headset.
“Hey, little missy, you here to play Dream Glory too?”
Startled, Wen Xiangzhu instinctively stepped back two paces. “What glory? What’s that?”
“It’s the new game that launched today.”
He grinned. “Normally this café isn’t this lively. Want me to show you the ropes?”
“No, thank you. I’m just looking for my sister. I’ll be leaving soon.”
“Your sister?” He blinked, then a strange smile tugged at his lips. “Is your sister an Omega too? I can help you look.”
Wen Xiangzhu’s brows tightened almost imperceptibly. She gave him a cold glance, then walked past him without hesitation.
“No need.”
The café was large. Even after circling around, she didn’t see Lin Sui.
Not here? She started to reconsider.
Just then, a staff member carrying food and drinks walked past her and opened the door to a private room.
Before it shut, Wen Xiangzhu caught sight of a familiar figure inside.
“Jie!”
She hurried after the staffer and slipped into the private room.
When Lin Sui saw her, she was first startled, then her brows knitted, her tone edged with reprimand.
“What are you doing here?”
“Jie, it’s already so late. Let’s go home.” Wen Xiangzhu glanced at the girl sitting beside Lin Sui.
Zhu Huan arched a brow, expression amused.
Just moments ago, she had been teasing Lin Sui: “This Wen Xiangzhu fusses over you so much—don’t tell me she actually likes you?”
Lin Sui had only laughed and waved it off. “Don’t overthink. On paper, she’s my sister now. She just moved in with my family. All this attentiveness is just her trying to curry favor.”
“Really?”
Zhu Huan had believed it at first. But now, with Wen Xiangzhu chasing her all the way into an internet café, she wasn’t so sure.
“Little sister,” Zhu Huan said with a chuckle, “your jie and I are just gaming a while. We’ll head back later. Why don’t you go home first?”
At that, Wen Xiangzhu pressed her lips together, looking faintly wronged. “But it’s already dark. I don’t want to go back alone.”
“Well, your jie can’t exactly walk you home and come back again, can she? Careful, or she might give you a good scolding.” Zhu Huan grinned.
Wen Xiangzhu hesitated, then lowered her gaze to Lin Sui.
“Jie… will you scold me?”
“…”
Lin Sui raised an eyebrow but wasn’t paying much attention to either of them. Her eyes had already locked on the man standing by the doorway—the same one who had followed Wen Xiangzhu earlier.
Her hand rested casually on the armrest. Tilting her head slightly, she said, “Still not leaving?”
The man froze, then forced a genial smile as he stepped forward.
“Well, if it isn’t Lin classmate. What a coincidence. Say, I was just about to head home myself—why don’t I walk your sister back? No need for you to trouble yourself.”
He turned to Wen Xiangzhu, softening his voice. “Your jie can stay. I’ll take you. Don’t you remember me? You used to come by my stationery shop all the time.”
At that, Lin Sui narrowed her eyes, finally recalling why his face had looked familiar.
The stationery shop owner by the school gate.
But—
Wen Xiangzhu had only transferred less than a month ago. Every day after school she had gone straight home. There was no way she’d ever visited that shop.
The thought made Lin Sui laugh under her breath. “Since when did people start mistaking me for an idiot?”
In the next instant, the sharp chill of her cedarwood pheromones filled the room.
The staffer stumbled, knees suddenly weak. She set the tray down in haste and quickly left, abandoning any thought of spectating.
Zhu Huan glanced between the man—now visibly weakened under the suppression—and Lin Sui, then finally at Wen Xiangzhu.
She had known Lin Sui for years, and in situations like this, Lin Sui almost always resorted to her fists. It was rare for her to even bother using pheromones.
Was it just her imagination, or… had Lin Sui actually become a little gentler?
The man’s legs shook uncontrollably. He forced a strained smile.
“No need to get upset… if you don’t want me involved, I’ll back off. My mistake, I’ll be going now.”
He spun around the moment the words left his lips, fleeing in a panic.
He knew all too well that though he was also an Alpha, against someone like Lin Sui—an Alpha with superior genetics—his pheromones didn’t stand a chance.
All he could do was submit.
Zhu Huan was amused. “He even remembered to shut the door on his way out—impressive, impressive.”
She glanced at the screen, hurriedly grabbed the mouse, and said, “Quick, quick, the download’s done. Let’s try this mode.”
Lin Sui frowned, hesitating.
Soon, a soft, milky voice came from the side: “I can just sit here and read while I wait for you.”
Lin Sui turned to glance at Wen Xiangzhu, who had already found a small stool and sat down obediently.
“No.”
Lin Sui’s voice was firm.
“Hm? No what?” Hearing her, Zhu Huan looked over in confusion.
“I’m not playing anymore.” Lin Sui stood, slung her bag over her shoulder, and said to Zhu Huan, “I just remembered I’ve got plans tomorrow. Better head back early and rest.”
“Plans? With who—Jiang Wanwan?”
Zhu Huan raised a brow. When Lin Sui didn’t deny it, she laughed. “I see how it is. Looks like something good’s about to happen.”
“What are you talking about? You’re way ahead of yourself.”
Lin Sui lightly patted her shoulder. “I’m leaving.”
“Alright then, I won’t walk you out. I’ll keep playing.”
Zhu Huan waved her off, her attention already back on the glowing screen.
Wen Xiangzhu, who had been a little dazed, quickly jumped to her feet. She fumbled to zip up the backpack she’d just opened, movements clumsy in her rush.
Lin Sui, watching quietly out of the corner of her eye, pulled out her phone to book a ride. Then she left the “Saucy Cat” Internet Café with Wen Xiangzhu in tow.
“You shouldn’t be coming to places like this. Too messy.” Her tone was cool.
Wen Xiangzhu lowered her gaze, biting her lip lightly, then peeked up at Lin Sui without saying a word.
Lin Sui shot her a sidelong glance. “Did you hear me?”
“Yes, I understand. I won’t come if you’re not with me. But as long as you’re here, I’m not afraid.” Wen Xiangzhu’s voice was soft.
That made Lin Sui laugh in exasperation. “Then tell me this—what if I hadn’t come to this café today?”
Wen Xiangzhu was quiet for a moment. “…Then I would’ve gone to another one to find you.”
“Do you think this is about which café it is? Why are you so stubborn?!” Lin Sui took a sharp breath. “Let me ask you again—why did you come looking for me?”
“I… I’m scared to be alone.”
“Excuses.” Lin Sui let out a short laugh. “Didn’t Uncle Wang drive you home? What’s there to be afraid of?”
“I’m scared if you’re not there.”
“…”
Lin Sui fell silent, staring at Wen Xiangzhu’s pitiful, innocent expression. At last, she sighed helplessly, muttering inwardly—
Shadow.
Back at school, whenever Lin Sui went to the convenience store, the office, even the restroom, Wen Xiangzhu would secretly follow, always keeping just enough distance to not get caught.
Once or twice, it could be brushed off as coincidence. But when it kept happening, it was impossible not to notice.
And when Lin Sui was alone, she couldn’t help but think:
Could Wen Xiangzhu actually have some kind of psychological disorder?
Just then, a car pulled up in front of them.
Lin Sui checked the license plate carefully before opening the door.
“Get in.”
Wen Xiangzhu stepped up, blinking. She hesitated. “You’re coming with me, right?”
Lin Sui nearly laughed in disbelief. “Of course. What, do you think I’d run off and leave you?”
Hearing that, Wen Xiangzhu finally relaxed and climbed obediently into the car.
Lin Sui followed, settling in beside her. As soon as the door shut, the driver started the engine.
The scenery outside slipped away quickly. Inside, apart from the steady rhythm of their breathing, only the navigation voice from the driver’s phone broke the silence.
“Jiejie.” After a long while, Wen Xiangzhu spoke up. “Tomorrow you’re meeting Jiang Wanwan?”
“Mm.” Lin Sui answered simply. “Why?”
“No reason. Just curious. Thought I’d ask.”
After that, neither spoke again. When they arrived home, they each went to their rooms without another word.
The next morning, Lin Sui was woken by the alarm she’d set in advance.
She opened her eyes, checked the time, and got up to freshen herself.
In the walk-in closet, she slung a small crossbody bag over her shoulder. She lingered in front of the mirror, staring at her reflection. Then she pulled out a lip balm from the drawer, applied a thin layer, and slipped it into the bag.
By the time she came downstairs, Wen Xiangzhu was already at the table, sipping milk. The instant she saw Lin Sui, her eyes lit up. “Jiejie, have some breakfast.”
“I’m skipping. Jiang Wanwan’s waiting.” Lin Sui replied absently, eyes fixed on her phone.
Just as she stepped out the door, Wen Xiangzhu called after her: “I’m going out with my classmates today too.”
“Mm.”
Lin Sui paused briefly.
“You don’t need to report things like that to me.”
