The Stunning Omega CEO Always Wants Me to Mark Her - Chapter 18
“Hm?” Lin Sui fixed her eyes on Lu Xiaomeng, her presence carrying an inexplicable pressure. “Do I look that easy to fool?”
Lu Xiaomeng parted her lips as if to explain, but hesitated.
Lin Sui arched a brow, patience thinning, and brushed past her to push open the infirmary door.
Inside, a large desk stood near the entrance, with several small beds arranged in rows farther back. A nurse in a white coat looked up from behind the desk.
“Are you here to see a doctor? Where does it hurt?”
Lin Sui only gave her a brief glance before her gaze landed on Wen Xiangzhu, sitting on one of the beds.
Her shoes and socks lay discarded to the side, her pant legs rolled up to the knee. Her ankle was visibly swollen, tinged with bluish-purple.
Wen Xiangzhu’s face lit up with startled surprise when she saw her. “You, why are you here?”
“Student?” The nurse glanced between Lin Sui and Wen Xiangzhu, then nodded in realization. “Ah, you’re here to see this classmate, aren’t you?”
Lin Sui frowned and gave a curt hum.
The nurse smiled. “It’s just a sprain. I’ve already applied ointment, but she shouldn’t put any weight on that foot.”
Wen Xiangzhu’s small face was filled with worry. “But, can I still compete in the high jump?”
“Of course not.” The nurse adjusted her black-framed glasses. “You need proper rest. Try to walk as little as possible.”
“Oh” Wen Xiangzhu murmured, then cast a cautious glance at Lin Sui. Seeing the faint storm on her face, she ducked her head and closed her mouth.
A moment passed before Lin Sui sighed, stepping toward her.
“How did this happen?”
“I fell,” Wen Xiangzhu whispered, her lashes trembling.
“Really?” Lin Sui studied her, voice low. “Was it near the convenience stand? I’ll be checking the cameras later.”
At that, Wen Xiangzhu stiffened. After a pause, she admitted, “I ran into Feng Yue and the others.”
Lin Sui’s eyes narrowed. “They bullied you?”
“Not exactly.” Wen Xiangzhu bit her lip. “When I came out, they bumped into me. I fell and twisted my ankle.”
Her voice dropped, a trace of grievance slipping through. “Feng Yue didn’t even apologize. She blamed me for getting her clothes wet. She was really fierce.”
The infirmary fell quiet.
Lin Sui’s expression remained calm, her eyes lowered, her face unreadable—like nothing could stir her heart.
But anyone who knew her understood: the calmer she looked, the angrier she was.
After a long silence, she finally exhaled softly. “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“I didn’t want to distract you from the competition.”
Lin Sui recalled seeing Feng Yue and her group leaving the teaching building earlier.
So that’s when it happened.
“You should rest. Don’t join tomorrow’s event,” she said gently.
“Okay.” Wen Xiangzhu lowered her head, obedient as ever.
Lin Sui couldn’t quite describe her own mood—part anger, part confusion, part something she couldn’t name.
“Jiejie.” As Lin Sui turned to leave, Wen Xiangzhu quickly grabbed her hand. “Are you mad?”
Lin Sui paused. “No.”
Her gaze dropped to Wen Xiangzhu’s bare ankle and leg. “I’ll have a wheelchair sent over.”
“A wheelchair?” Wen Xiangzhu blinked. “Isn’t that a bit much?”
Lin Sui gave her a flat look.
“And how do you plan to walk like this?”
“I can manage!”
Wen Xiangzhu widened her eyes, as if to prove it, and carefully hopped a few steps on her good leg. “See?”
Lin Sui stared at her for a moment.
“Like a one-legged rabbit.”
Wen Xiangzhu: “…”
“But a wheelchair makes it feel too serious, like I’m crippled or something.”
That made Lin Sui laugh softly.
“And hopping around on one leg doesn’t look crippled? What are you, fond of bouncing?”
Wen Xiangzhu fell silent. She had to admit, that made sense.
“Enough nonsense.”
Lin Sui glanced at the hand still holding hers. “Let go.”
Wen Xiangzhu blinked, then followed her gaze. Realizing, she quickly released her grip.
As Lin Sui turned to leave, she caught sight of the nurse at the desk, openly watching them with a handful of sunflower seeds in her lap, eyes sparkling with gossip.
The two locked eyes for two seconds before the nurse coughed awkwardly and looked away.
Lin Sui stepped out and made a call. Not long after, a brand-new wheelchair was delivered to her.
She pushed it back inside and parked it in front of Wen Xiangzhu. “Sit.”
“Oh”
Wen Xiangzhu’s eyes widened slightly at the sight of the glossy pink wheelchair. She sat down cautiously.
“Read the manual yourself.” Lin Sui handed her a small white booklet, her tone edged with distaste. “Don’t expect me to push you.”
Wen Xiangzhu glanced at the cover, hesitated, then let out a soft, coquettish plea. “Jiejie, I can’t read it.”
Lin Sui: “…”
“Even if you don’t understand it, you still have to read it.”
Lin Sui said stiffly, face set in a serious expression.
“Nooo, I don’t want to. Jiejie, push me instead.”
Wen Xiangzhu tilted her head slightly, her bright eyes glimmering like stars.
Lin Sui only glanced once before quickly averting her gaze.
No way. Absolutely not. If people saw her pushing Wen Xiangzhu around in a wheelchair, what kind of impression would that leave?!
Definitely not!
Keeping her face taut, Lin Sui pulled out her phone and sent a message to Zhu Huan.
[Bring Lu Xiaomeng to the infirmary.]
[Zhu Zhu Zhu: ??? Okay.]
A little while later, Zhu Huan arrived with Lu Xiaomeng. The moment she saw Wen Xiangzhu sitting in a wheelchair, she froze in surprise.
“What happened to her?”
“Sprained her ankle,” Lin Sui answered flatly. Then she turned to Lu Xiaomeng. “She says she can’t make sense of the wheelchair instructions. I’ll leave it to you.”
“Uh, okay.” Lu Xiaomeng replied in a daze, moving to Wen Xiangzhu’s side. She stared at the wheelchair, her heart quietly full of suspicion.
It seemed like Lin Sui was taking extra care of Wen Xiangzhu—finding the infirmary, arranging a wheelchair, and even picking out a pink one??
That didn’t add up.
Just as Zhu Huan was about to ask more questions, Lin Sui pulled her outside.
“What’s going on with her? Just a simple sprain?”
“Yes. And no.”
Zhu Huan frowned. “?”
“So which is it? Yes or no?”
“Don’t rush.” Lin Sui narrowed her eyes. “Let’s go check the surveillance footage.”
Although confused, Zhu Huan still agreed. “Uh, fine.”
At school, compared to ordinary students, Lin Sui and Zhu Huan held special privileges. Whenever they had requests, the school generally complied.
So the two of them smoothly made their way to the surveillance room.
Zhu Huan frowned at the screen, her expression growing colder and colder. “Who even is this? They’re clearly used to acting all high and mighty. Since when has there been anyone at this school more arrogant than us??”
Lin Sui fell silent. “What do you mean more arrogant than us?”
Zhu Huan chuckled. “Just what it sounds like. No point denying it.”
Lin Sui: “…”
Then she paused. “Wait—this one in the back looks a lot like Ye Shuqian.”
Lin Sui quickly shifted the subject. “That is Ye Shuqian. The one leading them is Feng Yue.”
Zhu Huan blinked, then immediately caught on. “Ah. Got it.”
She sighed, shook her head, and rested a hand on Lin Sui’s shoulder. “So? What’s the plan?”
Lin Sui raised a brow and brushed her hand away. “I already told Ye Shuqian. She’s going to report this to the discipline director.”
“You mean about you and Wen Xiangzhu’s so-called early romance, or about those rumors they spread?” Zhu Huan studied her, then asked.
“The early romance rumors. Better to blow it up big. Of course, it can’t be about me specifically—otherwise no one would dare interfere.” Lin Sui’s lips curved slightly as she glanced at her. “And make sure it’s clear—it’s about being falsely accused of early romance.”
“Fine, fine.” Zhu Huan laughed at her precision. “So once it’s blown up, what then?”
“Make them leave the school.” Lin Sui’s eyes narrowed. “Once they’re expelled, then we’ll deal with them properly.”
Zhu Huan’s eyes widened, then a smile slowly spread across her face. “I get it now. No wonder—you really are the Lin family’s heir. Always thinking three steps ahead.”
“Tch. Spare me.”
The two of them left the surveillance room one after the other. The morning competitions had ended, and it was nearly lunchtime.
But Lin Sui had no appetite. She grabbed a few snacks from the school store and headed back to the classroom.
There, she saw that Wen Xiangzhu’s chair had been moved to the back, replaced with that conspicuous pink wheelchair.
In the ordinary setting of a high school classroom, it looked glaringly out of place.
The room was mostly empty. Wen Xiangzhu lay slumped over her desk, apparently asleep, with an unfinished workbook beneath her.
Lin Sui glanced once, then quickly looked away. Even so, her movements grew unconsciously lighter.
Just then, her phone chimed.
She frowned almost imperceptibly, lowered the volume, and glanced at the screen.
The person at the front desk merely shifted slightly but didn’t wake.
Relieved, she checked her phone. It was a message from Ye Shuqian.
[Ye Shuqian: I already told the discipline director. He just called Feng Yue and Lu Rong into his office.]
[Okay.]
Lin Sui typed back a curt reply. She had just set down her phone when another message came in.
[Ye Shuqian: Can I come hide in your classroom?]
Lin Sui froze for a second, then understood.
It made sense. From what she knew, Ye Shuqian had been bullied by Feng Yue’s group since freshman year—her quiet personality and plain looks making her an easy target. She only escaped constant torment after becoming their lackey.
Now that she’d tipped off the director, even without mentioning Feng Yue and Lu Rong’s role in the rumor posts, there was still a chance the director would bring it up.
When Feng Yue’s group left the office, the first thing they’d do would be to come after her.
Thinking of this, Lin Sui didn’t hesitate. She typed back quickly:
[Sure. Come over now.]
