The Strongest Alpha is Overwhelmingly Omega After Rebirth - Chapter 4
Ning Youji suppressed his inner restlessness and strolled back to the classroom. There, he saw the youth in the back row by the window focused intensely on writing. The setting sun cast a warm glow over Lin Yan’s face, his long eyelashes were cast downward, and his profile radiated concentration. Ning Youji’s dark eyes flickered with a hint of doubt.
Two years ago, an accident occurred when Ning Youji first differentiated. Due to his superior innate intelligence, the energy within his body was too immense. Upon differentiation, he immediately entered a susceptibility period, releasing pheromones incessantly for three days and nights.
Since then, every susceptibility period resulted in a massive release of pheromones until he reached total exhaustion. His recovery took a long time, and if this continued, it would inevitably take a toll on his body. As he aged, his Alpha pheromones only grew stronger. Age eighteen would be a major threshold, and the variables involved were frightening.
Ning Youji’s father, Ning Heng, had consulted an old doctor for a diagnosis. The doctor stated that only finding a highly compatible Omega could alleviate the situation. Due to Ning Youji’s unique nature, the Omega needed to possess extraordinary intelligence and a matching pheromone. It was difficult to find an Omega who was both exceptionally brilliant and pheromone-compatible. It was a paradox of having one’s cake and eating it too.
Ning Youji’s gaze darkened. He could sense that Lin Yan’s pheromones were a perfect match, yet those pheromones were not strong, and his intelligence was, well, he was the lowest-ranking student in the entire grade. Regardless, this was the first time in three years he had encountered such a compatible scent. It felt like a natural fit.
Ning Youji sat down quietly, his dark eyes lingering on Lin Yan. The other was so focused that he did not notice the scrutiny. Lin Yan was solving problems at lightning speed. After the System finished grading the worksheet, its tone became subtle. “You are truly a rare talent. It seems I still underestimated your abilities.”
Lin Yan started to feel smug, but the more he heard, the more he realized something was wrong.
System: “A rare talent indeed. You managed to score only 10 points on such a simple worksheet.”
Lin Yan scratched his nose, feeling guilty.
System: “From today onward, I will train you strictly. We will not waste a single second.”
Lin Yan welcomed this. He was not afraid of hard work; he was only afraid of having no one to teach him. The “Devil Training” officially began. Since Lin Yan’s foundation was poor, the System made him start with material from freshman year.
System: “Today we enter freshman ancient poetry. You can earn free points after memorizing Guest Arrives, Magpie Bridge Immortal, Jin Se, and Li Ping’s Konghou Song.”
Lin Yan perked up. The System had told him that free points could be allocated to any attribute. After evening self-study ended, Lin Yan held his textbook with intense focus. He had failed to recite Jin Se earlier and received a System electric shock. That stinging sensation was not something he wanted to experience a second time.
Suddenly, the back door was kicked open with a bang. Jiang Xue sprinted toward Lin Yan.
“Brother Yan!” Jiang Xue was running so fast he could barely catch his breath. “A freshman wants to challenge you!”
Lin Yan did not even lift his eyelids. He was annoyed; how could he deal with a challenge when he had not finished memorizing his book? He refused directly. “I don’t have time to play with them. Tell them to stay wherever they are.”
Jiang Xue did not notice what his leader was doing; he only wanted to reclaim their honor. “He said you’re scared if you don’t show up. He even said you became a weakling because you differentiated into an Omega.”
Lin Yan closed his eyes. His differentiation was different from other Omegas; after the initial weakness came a surge of irritability. It just so happened these people were here for him to blow off some steam.
Stretching his muscles, the school bully’s beautiful light eyes filled with a smile, his voice carrying a hint of ruthlessness. “Let’s go. A weakling, huh?”
Since becoming an Omega, Lin Yan did not feel weak. Compared to before, he felt no different aside from his gender. Before leaving, he made sure to bring his book. He could fight and study at the same time.
The commotion was significant, and students in the classroom were eager to watch. Li Xingming was about to rush out when he glanced at Ning Youji and asked casually, “Brother Ning, do you want to go see your desk mate show off his power?”
Ning Youji’s eyes were unreadable. “Fine.”
Li Xingming was stunned. He had only asked on a whim and had not expected an agreement. After a year of knowing Ning Youji, he had a basic understanding of the boy’s aloof personality.
Under the streetlights of the old playground, circles of people had gathered. They were divided into two camps: the newly enrolled freshmen and the followers Lin Yan had won over.
“The school bully is here!” “Heavens, with that aura, who would believe he’s an Omega? He looks so Alpha from every angle!”
The crowd automatically parted to create a path. Lin Yan walked in and stopped a few paces away, lazily sizing up the boy leading the opposition. The leader had a buzz cut and looked fierce, reminding Lin Yan of an angry Chihuahua. Lin Yan lowered his gaze and let out a cold, ambiguous laugh.
“Oh, you showed up.” Buzz-cut spoke in an annoying, arrogant tone. “So this is the No. 1 High school bully? Don’t make me laugh. You’re even holding a book. Do you know your position is unstable, so you’re trying to study hard now?”
Buzz-cut laughed arrogantly, and his followers joined in. “Trash weakling! Go back and study!”
Jiang Xue glared at them. “You’re just mad because you’re stupid and he’s working hard! Can’t a school bully read a book? You idiot.”
“An idiot? I wonder who the real idiot is.” Buzz-cut curled his lip in provocation. “I wonder who is at the bottom of the grade. Simple-minded and physically strong. Stop acting cool here.”
Jiang Xue was furious. “Who are you calling simple-minded!” He moved to charge at them, but Lin Yan raised a hand to stop him.
Lin Yan looked up nonchalantly, a half-smile tugging at his lip. “An Omega? A weakling?”
Buzz-cut’s spine instinctively straightened under the gaze, but he forced himself to continue. “Yes, so what? I’m talking about you, you weakling Omega!”
Lin Yan arched an eyebrow and slowly took two steps forward. Everyone held their breath. He patted Buzz-cut on the shoulder and spoke casually. “Let me give you some advice. Watch your words when you’re out, and remember that being a leader requires actual qualification.”
Lin Yan scanned him from head to toe. “You aren’t suitable. Life is short for a freshman; don’t leave any regrets.”
Lin Yan did not use much force, but the pat on the shoulder made Buzz-cut tremble. Shaking off the shiver, Buzz-cut was consumed by rage. “Who are you calling ‘freshman’? I’m your father!” He swung a fist toward Lin Yan’s face.
Lin Yan felt a bit helpless. He shifted his body slightly, caught the fist, and skillfully performed a shoulder throw. The onlookers gasped. Buzz-cut cursed and attacked with both hands and feet. His movements were disorganized, but he aimed for the most dangerous spots.
Lin Yan, however, felt bored. In his past life, he had fought more than anything else; he had long since lost interest. Tired of the dragging process, he used a tactical move to pin Buzz-cut to the ground.
Lin Yan knelt on one knee, holding Buzz-cut’s wrist with a calm expression. Buzz-cut struggled but could not break free, so he began to hurl insults. Lin Yan looked down at him seriously, sighed, and said earnestly, “Like I said, you really aren’t suitable to be a leader.”
Buzz-cut’s face turned beet red as he roared at his followers, “What are you standing there for? Get him together!”
The other freshmen were clearly intimidated, but to save face, they had to charge. Lin Yan gave them a cool glance, hauled Buzz-cut up by the collar, and tossed him toward the group like a piece of trash. “Here is your leader back.”
The crowd burst into laughter. Two people caught Buzz-cut while the rest forced themselves to charge forward. Jiang Xue prepared to lead his men in, but Lin Yan, with his back turned, raised a hand to signal them to stay back.
The crowd witnessed Lin Yan take on ten people at once. His movements were clean, efficient, and decisive. Before long, cries of pain echoed across the playground.
However, due to the recent differentiation and the intense physical activity, Lin Yan’s pheromones began to leak. He had not yet learned how to control his body. A faint scent of magnolia began to drift through the air, carrying a strangely seductive quality.
Buzz-cut, still on the ground, finally realized he was facing an Omega. He let out a sneer and released his Alpha pheromones to suppress him. A newly differentiated Omega is highly sensitive to pheromones, especially those of an Alpha. Lin Yan gradually felt his strength fading. He became dizzy, feeling as if a thousand ants were gnawing at his brain.
Jiang Xue immediately sensed the attack and released his own to push back. Pheromones surged back and forth between the two sides. Lin Yan was on the verge of collapse; his consciousness began to blur.
Amidst the crowd, a youth in a white school uniform stood with eyes as dark as the night sky. Suddenly, an absolute, overwhelming pheromone swept over the area. The Alphas who had smelled Lin Yan’s scent were instantly crushed by the power of a top-tier Alpha. They were pinned down so hard they could not even struggle.
Every Alpha present felt a splitting headache, and the Omegas grew weak. Everyone except Lin Yan.
The discomfort Lin Yan felt vanished instantly. The scent of sandalwood surrounded him, wrapping him in a protective embrace. He was so familiar with this smell that his body heated up involuntarily.
The youth in the white school uniform walked out from the crowd. Since Lin Yan was in a state of extreme sensitivity, the scent of sandalwood became even more potent as Ning Youji approached. Lin Yan frowned, his legs trembling slightly. “Why are you here?”
Ning Youji stared at Lin Yan’s reddened ears. He knew this was a normal reaction, but he felt a strange urge. He took two steps forward and lightly squeezed the back of Lin Yan’s neck. “See? You ended up using them anyway.”
Lin Yan wanted to brush the hand away, but his body would not obey. This was the natural disparity between an Omega and an Alpha.
The scents caught the attention of the teachers. “Are you revolting, you little brats!” Wang Feng-hai, the Grade Supervisor, came running toward them in a rage. “This is outrageous! You dare to release high concentrations of pheromones in school?”
Wang Feng-hai marched up to them. “Where is Lin Yan? Don’t hide!” He scanned the crowd, his gaze landing on Ning Youji. “Ning Youji, why are you here?” Seeing him holding someone, his eyes widened. “Ning Youji, hugging and cuddling in broad daylight? Let go of that student immediately!”
Ning Youji said nothing. Just then, the person in his arms slowly lifted his head. His pale face was flushed due to the pheromones. Once he recognized the face, the supervisor’s eyebrows shot up. He pointed at Ning Youji and then at Lin Yan, unable to believe his eyes. “You… you two…”
It was scandalous and utterly disgraceful!
