The Strongest Alpha is Overwhelmingly Omega After Rebirth - Chapter 1
The sky was a deep, cloudless blue. Inside the classroom of Grade 11, Class 7 at Dongcheng High, groups of students huddled together and whispered busily. In the last row by the window, a youth lying face-down on his desk remained completely undisturbed by the noise.
Jiang Xue, who had just returned from another classroom, poked the youth’s exposed, pale wrist. He called out cautiously in a soft voice, “Brother Yan, the teacher is coming. Wake up!”
After several attempts, the youth finally moved. He straightened his body slowly. For some reason, he felt incredibly sore and weak, as if invisible shackles were binding him.
“Brother Yan, were you playing games again last night? Why are you so sleepy so early in the morning?” As a childhood friend, Jiang Xue understood Lin Yan’s daily routine perfectly.
A buzzing sound rang in Lin Yan’s ears. The voice was familiar; it belonged to his lifelong best friend, Jiang Xue. Lin Yan struggled to open his eyes. In an instant, the sunlight streaming through the window blinded him, leaving him in a daze. Bold characters were written clearly on the blackboard:
[Welcome to Grade 11, Class 7, Year 3540!]
Lin Yan closed his eyes tightly. The familiar classroom, the familiar classmates, and the familiar environment made it feel as if he had returned to high school. Is this the final struggle before death? he wondered.
Jiang Xue waved a hand in front of his face. “Are you still not awake? You have to hang in there. I heard this year’s homeroom teacher is the Grade Supervisor. If he catches you slacking, you are finished. The school specifically assigned you to Class 7 just to keep an eye on you.”
Looking at the familiar face before him, Lin Yan’s throat felt dry. He struggled to call out the name, “Jiang Xue.”
Jiang Xue looked puzzled. “If you need something, Brother Yan, just say the word.”
Lin Yan reached out, pinched Jiang Xue’s cheek, and asked, “Does it hurt?”
Of course it hurt. But as a loyal follower, Jiang Xue maintained a sincere expression and replied, “It doesn’t hurt.”
Lin Yan smiled. It really was a dream. In this classroom filled with the essence of youth, he actually smiled.
As the youth laughed, his sharp features softened. His light brown eyes became as clear as spring water, and the slight upward curve of his lips made him look simultaneously obedient and unruly. Every student in the classroom turned in unison to look at the back row. The school bully, the one universally recognized as tyrannical and rebellious, had actually smiled.
After a minute of stunned silence, the classroom erupted into chaos.
“Did you see that?” the girl with glasses sitting closest to Lin Yan whispered nervously to her friend. “The school bully actually smiled!”
The girl in front looked pale. “We are doomed. Someone is going to have a very bad day!”
Nearly everyone in Class 7, except for Jiang Xue, looked terrified. Lin Yan simply thought, “…”
It was hard to blame them for reacting that way. When Lin Yan first entered high school, he had clashed head-on with the previous school bully. Both were hot-headed, and they agreed to a fight outside of school on a Friday. Ultimately, Lin Yan won with absolute dominance. He quickly gathered a group of followers, and the title of “School Bully” was passed to him.
The new school bully began a daily routine of flaunting his power. He teased Omegas, oppressed fellow Alphas, and trampled over Betas. He solved everything with violence. Initially, the teachers tried to intervene, but the more they tried to manage him, the more defiant he became. Eventually, they chose to turn a blind eye. The entire student body avoided him like the plague.
At the time, Lin Yan thought he was impressive. Unfortunately, he was too young to realize he was seeking his own destruction. As the saying goes, the one who charges at the very front dies the fastest.
While the students were still gossiping, the booming voice of the homeroom teacher came from the doorway. “Everyone, quiet down. I know you are excited to be in my class, but save your energy. There is something even more exciting coming up.”
A few students snickered. They had not expected the rumored Grade Supervisor to be so humorous.
“I have some good news to share with everyone today,” the teacher said.
Just as he was about to continue, a voice interrupted from the doorway. “Reporting. I am late.”
The voice was clean, lazy, and very polite. Every student turned toward the door, unable to hide their excitement. Only Lin Yan, still lost in thought in the back row, failed to notice.
“It’s fine. You are just in time.” Wang Feng-hai scanned the room and pointed to the back row. “There is still a seat over there.”
Ning Youji glanced at the seat in the back and began walking toward it. The class held its breath.
Ning Youji was the top student of the grade, the record-breaker for the school’s highest scores, and the “Chosen One” destined for the Temple of Divine Scholars. He stood about 187 centimeters tall and wore a white school uniform. His features were deep-set, and his phoenix-shaped eyes gave him an air of elegant nobility. When he was not smiling, he carried an intimidating aura that warned others not to approach.
Now, two “Kings” were in Class 7: one was the king of brawls, and the other was the king of brains.
Lin Yan was still spacing out when a figure suddenly entered his field of vision. He slowly raised his head, his gaze naturally carrying a hint of provocation. In an instant, the air in the classroom became tense.
When Lin Yan saw Ning Youji’s face, his light-colored eyes wavered. It was him. It was his only debtor from his previous life: Ning Youji.
Memories from before his death flashed before his eyes. Because of his own ignorance and arrogance, he had offended many people, which eventually brought ruin to his family. In the moments before his death, he felt hatred, anger, and resentment, but he could not change the facts.
Society gives the same amount of time to everyone. To seize one’s destiny and survive, one must cherish every second. In the new century of 3540, knowledge is the only means of survival, and intelligence is the standard used to measure status.
Ning Youji was a “Study God.” He possessed the power to protect others. Though he only had one chance, he had used it to protect Lin Yan’s younger sister during a crisis. Lin Yan did not know why he had done it, but he was deeply grateful.
In the moment he closed his eyes for the last time, he thought that if there were an afterlife, he would study hard, protect the people important to him, and repay his debts. Opening his eyes again, he realized that fate was being cruel by making him struggle within this dream.
Under the watchful eyes of the entire class, the arrogant school bully took the initiative to greet Ning Youji. “Hi,” he said.
Ning Youji paused. He clearly had not expected a greeting. His dark eyes narrowed slightly as he nodded in response. The atmosphere between the two was eerily harmonious. The class fell silent, and students exchanged shocked glances.
Wang Feng-hai found it strange; it was rare for Lin Yan not to cause trouble. Once everyone was seated, he continued, “Listen up, Class 7. There is an intelligence test at the beginning of next month. Prepare well, as this will determine your future direction after graduation.”
This announcement hit the class like a bomb. Everyone snapped out of their daze. An intelligence test represented their future social standing.
Lin Yan’s eyes flickered. The plot was exactly the same as before. This was the year 3540, the peak of the “Origin of the Wise.” In his previous life, he was ignorant and relied on his status as an Alpha to run wild. Only after entering society did he realize that intelligence was the sole law of this world. As long as you became a “Wise One,” no one would dare touch you, even if you were the most ordinary Beta.
Wang Feng-hai handed out study materials and left. The classroom did not return to its previous rowdiness; most students buried their heads in the materials. Lin Yan picked up the papers with a serious expression. He thought that, at the very least, he should try his best while in this dream. However, he could not understand a single thing on the page.
Just as he was holding the materials in a state of helplessness, a “ding” sounded in his mind.
[System loading…] [Loading complete. Binding successful.]
[Bound Host: Lin Yan] [Age: 16] [Focus: 3 | Memory: 3 | Observation: 6 | Reasoning: 8 | Imagination: 10] [Study Methods: 0] [Total Intelligence: 31 (Deficient)] [Brain Development: 98% (Unused)]
The data table was simple and clear. The electronic voice went silent for a moment before sighing, “So weak.”
Lin Yan tried to respond to the voice in his mind. “Are you the one talking in my head?”
“I didn’t expect you to have such composure. You weren’t even startled by me,” the voice replied.
The System had appeared too suddenly. Lin Yan was unprepared, so he stood up and hurried out of the classroom. Ning Youji’s gaze followed Lin Yan’s retreating back. A memory of a small figure in a dark alley flashed through his mind. Meeting again after three years, he had almost failed to recognize him.
Lin Yan reached the men’s restroom. He took a breath to suppress his shock. “Are you a System?”
“You could say that, and you could also say I am not,” the voice replied.
“Yes, that is right,” the System continued. “You have been reborn.”
Lin Yan quickly accepted the reality. He suppressed his excitement and asked, “How should I address you?”
“The world calls me the Wisdom System. This time, I am in charge of your intelligence-enhancement tasks. From today onward, I will allocate all of your time. You only need to execute the tasks.”
Lin Yan looked at the study materials and felt inadequate. He knew there was no such thing as a free lunch. “Why are you helping me like this?”
“The host has seen your intelligence panel; it is truly an eyesore,” the System stated. “From now on, you must increase your intelligence. Once you reach 2,000 points and become a Wisdom God, you can unbind the System and be granted one unconditional wish.”
Lin Yan decided he had to try. “What should I do next?”
The System was gratified. “Issuing the first task: Provoke the top student in the grade and force him to release his pheromones. Doing so will grant you an intelligence boost.”
Lin Yan thought, “…”
The top student was Ning Youji. His debtor.
