- The Seductive Wife Kisses and Teases While His Black-Bellied Childhood Friend Spoils Him Crazy
- Chapter 7 - A Dead-End Company
Jiang Ningxun was a stylist by profession. He wore loose, wide-leg pants paired with a light-colored shirt, a tool bag slung across his shoulder, and a black beret. He looked well-behaved and pleasant, though the hat pressed uncomfortably against his ears, folding his fluffy fox ears down.
After heading downstairs, he glanced at the time. Oh no! He was going to miss the bus!
Stomp, stomp, stomp. Jiang Ningxun broke into a frantic sprint.
“Route 33 bus, wait for me!”
However, the bus heartlessly left a trail of exhaust and sped away.
Jiang Ningxun bent over dejectedly. How unlucky. Why was everything so difficult?
No, it was all Song Shidu’s fault. If he had not been so clingy and insistent during the holiday, how could his legs feel so weak and slow?
Yes, it was entirely his fault.
Suddenly, a horn sounded from behind him. “Beep, beep, beep!”
Jiang Ningxun thought he was blocking the way and stepped aside, only for the black car to stop directly in front of him.
Wait, why does this car look so familiar?
The window rolled down, and a fat, greasy face poked out from inside.
The man looked at Jiang Ningxun with a squinty smile and said in a twisted tone, “If it is not Beauty Jiang. Late on the very first day back from the holiday? Get in my car; I will take you to the office.”
The moment Jiang Ningxun saw him, he felt instinctively nauseous.
This man was the General Manager of Xingyao Styling Media Company, a human Beta and Jiang Ningxun’s direct supervisor. He was incredibly greasy and frequently tried to take advantage of the employees. If they did not comply, he would threaten them with termination. He had driven away countless talented people with these tactics.
Jiang Ningxun maintained a polite smile. “There is no need, General Manager. I do not want to trouble you; I will just call a taxi.”
The General Manager smirked. “A taxi? Where would you find one? It is the morning rush hour. Look at where you live; you would have to wait half an hour just to find an empty car.”
As he said, it was true.
It was difficult to even get a ride-share here, which was a hassle. If he waited for the bus, it would take a very long time.
Even so, Jiang Ningxun did not want to sit in his car. Suddenly, his phone rang.
It was an urgent notification in the company group chat: everyone had to be present for a meeting by 08:30, or their pay would be docked.
Jiang Ningxun gripped his phone in frustration.
The General Manager saw this and chuckled, reaching out to open the car door. “Hurry up and get in. The boss has spoken. How much money do you have to let them keep docking it?”
Left with no choice, Jiang Ningxun sat in the passenger seat and fastened his seatbelt. He tensed his body and feigned gratitude. “Then, thank you, Manager.”
The car started.
Along the way, Jiang Ningxun sat quietly and obediently in his seat like a calm little fox, cradling and smoothing his slightly bristling tail. He tried his best not to look at the greasy man.
But the guy’s gaze was practically glued to him. He glanced over every three meters as if he wanted to scrape a layer of flesh off Jiang Ningxun’s body. He had “bad intentions” written all over his face.
Jiang Ningxun gritted his teeth and smiled. “Manager, reckless driving leads to tears for your loved ones.”
“Oh,” the General Manager laughed. “Good reminder. I am driving slowly because I am not afraid of the boss docking a little money, haha.”
Jiang Ningxun’s urge to hit him grew stronger, but he could not. He still needed this job to put food on the table.
Another three minutes passed.
The General Manager asked, “Do you know why the boss is calling this meeting?”
Jiang Ningxun did not feel like talking to him and simply shook his head.
What else could it be for? The company he worked for was just a third-rate little firm. This meeting was undoubtedly because they had landed a relatively large contract and were picking people to do the work.
The General Manager said exaggeratedly, “Actually, someone contacted the boss to cooperate with us!”
Jiang Ningxun feigned interest. “Ah, then it must be very important.”
“But the competition for this cooperation is huge! Some employees with connections started preparing three days ago, while you know nothing. Even if you go to the meeting, you have no chance of winning this contract!”
“Oh, then I am quite pathetic.”
“Actually, there is a way.”
The General Manager’s tone shifted from enthusiastic to greasy and smooth. He narrowed his bead-like eyes and looked at Jiang Ningxun with a smile. “Actually, I have thought very highly of you since your first day at the company. I know it is not easy for you to earn money. But I guarantee that if you get this contract, your future will be limitless!”
Jiang Ningxun silently rolled his eyes. This was a classic professional empty promise.
“As the General Manager, I have a lot of say in the company. It would be very easy for me to give you a boost.”
“However, there is a small price to pay.” The General Manager looked ahead, his eyes suddenly becoming lecherous. He reached out a wandering hand, aiming straight for Jiang Ningxun’s thigh.
Jiang Ningxun looked at the approaching hand with disgust. He inconspicuously moved his tool bag forward, causing the General Manager to touch the smooth bag instead.
The manager immediately stroked it several times, the smile on his face unstoppable. He thought to himself that Jiang Ningxun was just another ordinary person who was easily swayed.
But the more he stroked it, the stranger it felt. He turned his head to look. This was no leg; it was clearly a worn-out bag!
Jiang Ningxun leaned back in his seat and said with feigned surprise, “So you wanted this bag, Manager? That is easy to arrange. I will send you a link. It was only three hundred yuan on Pinduoduo. It is very cheap.”
The General Manager’s face darkened, fully understanding that this was a rejection. He let out a cold snort.
The rest of the journey was much quieter. Once they arrived at the company, Jiang Ningxun got out of the car. He turned back, intending to give a fake smile of thanks.
The black car drove off immediately, radiating resentment.
Jiang Ningxun sighed internally. Now he had been marked. He would surely be given a hard time at the company from now on.
Before him stood a five-story office building. The exterior decoration looked bright and beautiful, but the interior was an old building. The employees were lazy; even when they saw clients arrive, they only gave a simple greeting. They did not even care if a deal was closed.
It was a large-scale, “do-nothing” company.
Every time Jiang Ningxun entered, he felt as if he could see the end of his life right then and there.
Unfortunately, jobs were hard to find nowadays. Since he had found one, he would just stay for a while to build up his work experience.
[Clock-in successful. Welcome, Jiang Ningxun, to this beautiful, progressive, and bright-futured large-scale company!]
This was an empty-promise company.
Jiang Ningxun had been fooled just like that in the past.
At that moment, someone even later than him entered. The person let out a sigh upon entering. “I am so tired. Is there anyone who can help me carry my things? Just take them to the lounge the boss specially opened for me.”
Jiang Ningxun turned around to see Bai Roulian.
Though the name sounded feminine, he was a male Omega.
A “femboy,” so to speak.
Bai Roulian was wearing a short skirt, a wavy long-haired wig, and white silk stockings. His top revealed half of his chest, and his skin was so white he looked like a walking moon. His appearance fit the typical delicate and beautiful image of an Omega.
He was part of the company, but more as a collaborator. He was a minor influencer on Douyin, and the company usually handled his styling.
A passerby would certainly not like this type, thinking he was a “White Lotus.”
However, after spending time with him, Jiang Ningxun realized that was not the case.
Bai Roulian was just a bit high-maintenance and willful, but his heart was not bad.
Seeing that no one in the company was paying him any attention, Bai Roulian did not mind. He soon spotted Jiang Ningxun and waved his arm happily. “Brother Ningxun, give me a hand! I really cannot carry these.”
At his feet were three large suitcases.
Jiang Ningxun looked left and right, seeing that truly no one was helping. He glanced at the time; it was already 08:26. If he helped him, he would definitely be late.
Seeing him hesitate, Bai Roulian puffed out his cheeks and began struggling with the suitcases himself.
“Let me do it.” Jiang Ningxun picked up one of the suitcases. In the next second, he almost fell over. His eyes widened as he exclaimed, “Are you moving house?”
Bai Roulian giggled. “You really are the best, Brother. I am not moving house. It is just that I will be filming here from now on, so I will be staying at the company permanently.”
Jiang Ningxun looked at him as if he were a fool and advised sincerely, “Have you lost your mind, wanting to live at the company?”
Even a dog would shake its head at this environment.
“Oh, I am here to accompany someone.” Bai Roulian stopped there and followed Jiang Ningxun as they laboriously carried the luggage to the fifth floor.
Because in this broken company, there were no conditions to install a proper elevator. Even if there were one, it would break every few days.
For the sake of their safety, the employees all tacitly climbed the stairs every day, acting as if the elevator did not exist.
