- Chapter 4 - The Fake Alpha Young Master and The Real Alpha Young Master (Part 4)
[Tonight, was your brother’s promotion banquet, but he did not attend. Instead, he appeared at the Morristy victory celebration.]
[He discovered you were not at school and called you, exposing your lie.]
[How do you plan to face him?]
“Five minutes,” Su Yi’s voice was cold. “In five minutes, I will come to find you.”
The call disconnected immediately. He did not give Su Yi any chance to speak. Su Yi rubbed the space between his eyebrows as the icy notification tone echoed in his mind.
“Is this a new plot point?”
He could now distinguish between the cold, emotionless system prompts and his personal guide, 777. The former was the voice of judgment and trials, while the latter was personified.
[Yes, this new plot emerged because of your choices. We really should have been honest earlier,] 777 advised sincerely.
Su Yi flipped through his phone and replied casually, “It is better this way. Given the current status gap between Pei Yingjue and me, confessing my condition to make a deal would not feel like a fair exchange. It would feel like a threat.”
[Why?]
“Think about it. A young master from a flourishing family with no pheromones suddenly discovers that you, a person with no background or support, can cure his illness. Then he asks for mutual help? Do you think he would feel he has the option to say no? By letting him take the lead, it saves a lot of trouble.”
Su Yi explained calmly, leaving 777 in a rare moment of silence.
“Aside from that, regardless of how I phrase it, my status makes it a threat to him. Acting weak just makes it slightly easier for him to accept,” Su Yi said, his eyes dancing with a smile. “Besides, how do you know I have not actually fallen for him?”
Stunned, 777 asked tentatively, [Have you actually fallen for him?]
“The kind of love where I want to sleep with him?” Su Yi replied.
[How can that be considered love? You succubi do not understand the first thing about love! This is a defilement of emotions! I really should not communicate with a criminal like you!] 777 snapped indignantly.
“You are just an AI. How would you know what love is?” Su Yi’s finger paused as he scrolled through his contacts. “Found it.”
He dialed the number without hesitation.
[What did you find?] 777 asked, sounding both annoyed and curious.
“I thought you were not communicating with a criminal like me?” Su Yi teased.
[I am supervising you, not chatting with you!]
“Is that so?”
Before 777 could suffer a further breakdown, the call connected. The background was noisy, filled with human voices and booming music. After a moment, a voice soaked in alcohol spoke from the other end.
“A Yi, what is wrong?”
“Hai Tingyan, I am at your family’s private hospital. Do you have time to pick me up?” Su Yi asked softly.
Hai Tingyan was his childhood friend in this world and one of the owners of the hospital. The music on the other end stopped abruptly, replaced by Hai Tingyan’s rushed breathing. “Are you sick? Wait for me. I am coming right now.”
“Bring two bottles of wine with you while you are at it,” Su Yi added.
“Why do you need wine?” Hai Tingyan stopped in his tracks, sounding confused.
[You are not going to attack your own brother, are you?] 777 asked in horror.
Su Yi arched an eyebrow. “You will find out soon.”
At the grand British style gates of Morristy Academy, a black car sat by the curb. The window was slightly lowered, revealing the deep, inscrutable eyes of the man in the back seat. The clock on the dashboard continued to tick, well past the agreed five minutes.
But Su Yi had not arrived.
“Should I go look for the young master?” Uncle Wang asked tentatively.
Su Yi, the older brother, looked down at his phone, which was playing a surveillance video. At the abandoned back gate, his brother had carried a man into a car and sped away from the academy toward a hospital under the Hai family’s jurisdiction.
The screen went dark, reflecting Su Yi’s expressionless face. “Go to the Hai family hospital.”
Suddenly, a bright light interrupted him as a white car sped toward them and stopped firmly behind. A knock came at the window. Su Yi looked up to see the blonde, blue eyed Hai Tingyan looking apologetic.
“Sorry, Brother Su. A Yi was in a bad mood, so I took him out to play for a while. I did not realize you were waiting for him at school,” Hai Tingyan said as the window rolled down.
Su Yi’s gaze moved past him to the person he was supporting. Su Yi’s clothes were loose, his hair was messy, and his cheeks were flushed. He reeked of alcohol. Sensing his brother’s presence, the younger Su Yi lifted his head, his watery eyes meeting his brother’s. The drunk boy froze for a second, then quickly turned his head away in a huff.
“I do not want to go back! We agreed to stay out all night! You traitor!” Su Yi muttered, turning to leave.
Suddenly, a warm hand gripped his arm. He turned back to face his brother’s unreadable gaze.
“Ah, maybe next time, A Yi,” Hai Tingyan said, rubbing Su Yi’s head before quickly letting go. “Brother Su, I will head out then.”
“Thank you for bringing him back,” Su Yi said, his eyes never leaving his brother.
Hai Tingyan left as quickly as he arrived. The white car sped away, leaving the two brothers alone on the empty street.
“Let go! I can walk back myself!” Su Yi frowned, trying and failing to shake off the hand restraining him.
“Su Yi.”
If his tone had been neutral before, it now carried a clear edge of anger. The boy suddenly went limp, letting his arm hang while refusing to look at his brother. The older brother frowned, preparing to speak, but the boy spoke first in a raspy voice.
“What? Did you come here to show off now that you have been promoted to Vice Chairman? It must be great having a brother with no pheromones. Since you all hate me, just leave me alone. Let me fend for myself.”
By the end of his sentence, he could no longer hide the sob in his voice. Su Yi, the older brother, froze. Looking at his awkward, hurt younger brother, he sighed, and seventy percent of his anger dissipated.
“Get in the car. You are drunk.”
Su Yi did not move.
“Su Yi.”
This time, he moved. But once inside the car, he pressed himself against the door as far away as possible. The older brother frowned at the distance between them. As the car started and the soundproof partition rose, the small space was filled with the smell of alcohol and various pheromones.
“Did Hai Tingyan take you to a bar?” Su Yi asked, his tone displeased.
“That has nothing to do with you,” Su Yi replied sharply. “As long as I did not go to the banquet, it is fine. You would probably be happier if I stayed out all night or died somewhere.”
“Who told you that you were not allowed at the banquet?” Su Yi, the older brother, asked, ignoring the tantrum and narrowing his eyes.
Su Yi snorted and looked away. “That is what you all think anyway. It does not matter who said it.”
“The family banquet was canceled tonight. Extravagance is prohibited within the Alliance,” the older brother said, glancing at the boy’s reddened eyes.
As expected, Su Yi looked over. After meeting his brother’s gaze, he turned away again. “It has nothing to do with me.”
Su Yi looked out the window at the dazzling night scenery, his eyes perfectly clear. After this display of unreasonable behavior, his brother would likely stop questioning him.
“I went to your victory celebration, but you were not at school,” Su Yi said, his scrutinizing gaze falling on him like he was finally revealing his true intent.
Su Yi lowered his gaze. “Why would you go to the victory celebration?”
“It was your award ceremony. Why would I not go?” the older brother replied naturally.
“But you did not tell me.”
“The teacher asked me to deliver a medal to a special admission student. That person fainted, but everyone else was at the auditorium. To avoid being a murderer, I had to take that person to the hospital,” Su Yi said with a self deprecating smile. “But it makes no difference. It does not matter whether I am at the celebration or not.”
Su Yi, the older brother, paused. In the dim car, Su Yi kept his head down, his eyelashes trembling. He gave a bitter smile as a single tear slid down his cheek. It fell and vanished into the upholstery.
“It is different.”
Su Yi lifted his eyes as an exquisite bag was handed to him. He looked at his brother in surprise.
“A graduation gift,” the older brother said calmly.
Su Yi was stunned. His brother looked different from him; his features were more defined and his eyes were sharper, like he was of mixed heritage. Usually, he looked distant and superior, but now he looked down with a hint of doting. Suddenly, the older brother leaned in and wiped the tear from Su Yi’s eye with a warm fingertip.
“Su Yi, this will not happen again,” he said seriously. “But similarly, you should tell me these things.”
Looking at the emotions in his brother’s deep eyes, Su Yi had a sudden realization. His brother’s so called care was the exact opposite of what the system had described.
“Young master, we are home.”
The car stopped at the perfect moment. Su Yi pushed the door open without hesitation.
“I do not need your help!”
With a loud bang, the car door closed. The older brother looked at his fingertips, which were still wet with tears. He rubbed them together while looking at the empty back seat. He noted his brother’s childish temper.
Inside the house, Su Yi’s parents were sitting in the living room. No one asked about the boy reeking of alcohol. Only Auntie Mei asked if he needed a sobering soup. After Su Yi waved her off, the sound of his footsteps echoed as he hurried upstairs. Auntie Mei shook her head and went into the kitchen.
As expected, the older brother entered the house shortly after Su Yi went upstairs.
“You should not spoil him so much,” the father said sternly. “He is an adopted son without pheromones. You will only ruin him with indulgence until he forgets the meaning of gratitude.”
Su Yi’s gaze turned cold. He looked upstairs before looking back at his parents. “I am the one who picked him up. How I treat him has nothing to do with you.”
The mother frowned. “You have raised him for eighteen years. It is time he fulfilled his responsibility to repay you. The Xu family’s Omega turned eighteen this year as well. We should arrange a meeting. The project the Xu family is working on is related to the Alliance.”
“Was I not clear?” Su Yi looked at them coldly. “I found Su Yi, and I raised him. No one else has a say in his affairs, including you.”
“You!” The father stood up, ready to explode, but remembered his son’s current status. He suppressed his anger and said, “People who know us think he is your brother. Those who do not might think he is your partner.”
Su Yi glanced at him. The father could not bring himself to say the ugly word.
“It is late. You two should go back and rest,” the older brother said, loosening his tie and dismissing them.
Their expressions changed. They had never been close to their eldest son, and now that they were older, it was worse. This house belonged to Su Yi, the younger, but the power belonged to the older brother. They did not even have the right to stay.
“Xiao Yi, think about it carefully,” the mother sighed.
“Mother, I hope you will not send Su Yi those kinds of messages again.” She turned back, but her son did not look at her. He placed the gift bag on the table. “Also, I expect you to keep his origins a secret. The Su family will maintain an unshakable position in the Empire. That is all you need to know. Do not trouble yourselves with anything else.”
Once the doors closed and the living room was quiet, the older brother sat on the sofa. A message popped up from Lin Ke.
[Lin Ke: When are you going to tell your brother the cause of his condition? The rejection levels between you two are already very low. Delaying further will be bad for his health.]
“The eldest young master is back?” Auntie Mei came out of the kitchen with the sobering soup.
“Thank you for the trouble.”
Auntie Mei saw the exquisite gift bag and smiled. “The young master is still young. Brothers do not stay angry for long.”
He did not reply. As he walked upstairs, he sent a message back to Lin Ke.
[Su Yi: Wait a bit longer. He is having a tantrum.]
Looking at the sarcastic thumbs up emoji Lin Ke sent back, he remembered Su Yi’s pitifully bright eyes in the dim car. He decided to coax him first. There was no rush. After all, Su Yi would only ever be his.
