- Chapter 1 - The Fake Young Master Alpha vs. The Real Young Master Alpha (1)
“First and foremost, I would like to extend my warmest congratulations to all the award-winning students! This honor is the result of your day after day of diligent study and hard practice.”
The Principal’s voice echoed throughout the vast auditorium. Under the spotlights, students dressed in formal attire held their medals, standing tall and scanning the crowd below the stage.
Today was the awards ceremony for the Imperial League. All teachers, students, and parents of Morristy Academy had gathered in the auditorium to witness this glorious moment together. This was not just a personal honor; it was a stepping stone into the Union. In a world where pheromones reigned supreme, those standing on the podium were all A+ rank Alphas. They surveyed their surroundings with pride, listening haughtily to the Principal’s praise.
Suddenly, an ill-timed vibration rang out, breaking the immersion of those nearby. They shifted their gazes toward the side of the stage, a corner where even the spotlights failed to reach.
A tall youth stood there. He possessed an exquisite bone structure and a distinguished aura. His back was straight and his neck was slender, like a haughty white swan. Even in the shadows, his brilliance was hard to conceal. However, for an Alpha without any pheromones, a striking appearance was meaningless.
“He is just a vase relying on his family to stand here,” a few Alphas sneered with disdain.
“Su Yi, come here for a moment.”
Hearing the teacher’s soft call, the youth turned and slowly walked down from the stage. The departure of someone relegated to a corner did not attract much attention, and the crowd soon sank back into the Principal’s speech.
In the Shadows
“Su Yi, have your parents arrived?” the teacher asked in a whisper, her expression unable to hide her anticipation. “At this point, only your parents and student Pei’s parents have yet to show up.”
Though the youth before her had no pheromones, he was backed by the Su family, one of the four great families of the Empire. His older brother had also just been promoted to Vice Chairman of the Union. If his elders could grace them with their presence, Morristy Academy’s evaluation this year would surely surpass all other schools.
“Let me check.”
Su Yi did not answer immediately. He took out his phone and pressed it open. The message on the screen reflected in both of their eyes.
Mother: “There is a banquet at home tonight. Come back later.”
The light from the phone flickered in the youth’s eyes and then died out. He looked up, his beautiful eyes casting downward, and spoke with a hint of apology. “I am sorry, Teacher. They have been quite busy lately and could not make the time.”
“I see,” the teacher said, disappointed but not entirely surprised.
Indeed, he was just an Alpha without pheromones. How could the Su family possibly keep their eyes on him?
“With the recent changes within the Union, your parents must be exhausted from work,” the teacher said as she patted the youth’s shoulder. “How about this? Do me a favor. Student Pei left in a hurry just now and did not take his medal. Please deliver it to him.”
There would be a small victory banquet after the ceremony involving school rankings and attendees from the Union. An Alpha who relied solely on his background, without family support to back him up, would only be an eyesore to others.
The youth looked at the medal as if realizing something. He curled his lips slightly, appearing somewhat lonely.
“Understood. I will give it to Student Pei.”
“Good boy. Go through the backstage.”
The System Awakening
The moment he stepped out of the auditorium, the loneliness on the youth’s face vanished. He casually yanked the medals hanging from his neck, hooking the ribbons with two fingers and swinging them gently as if they were trash. The two medals collided, making a crisp clinking sound.
[Judge: Su Yi] [Criminal Number: 003] [The first trial is currently underway.]
[Scenario:] You are the young master of a powerful noble family. The family is flourishing, and your brother has a bright political future. In a world dominated by pheromones, you are an Alpha without pheromones. You have been pampered and overbearing since childhood, yet you are not loved by your parents. Your brother seems to give you extra “attention.” Your final ending is: “The beautiful vase forced into an arranged marriage.”
[Objective:] Please pass the test legally and compliantly to change the ending. The Court of Judgment will evaluate the type of ending based on the final results.
Hearing the cold, mechanical voice, Su Yi arched an eyebrow.
Yes, he had been arrested. As the King of Succubi, he had been caught red-handed after consuming too many humans. The Court of Judgment had thrown him into a virtual world for trial based on his crimes. Only by passing the evaluation could he be released after serving his sentence.
“Is this evaluation performed by humans or AI?” Su Yi accepted the situation gracefully.
[It is, of course, evaluated by the Presiding Judge personally!]
The cold tone became cheerful. It seemed they had specifically equipped him with a system to follow him.
“Presiding Judges are usually very busy, aren’t they? They actually spared someone to monitor me,” Su Yi chuckled softly. “I have already said it; they were willing. They were willing to offer me their bodies, their wealth, and their hearts. You cannot force me to reciprocate every single person’s sincerity. It is exhausting. Besides, I only have one heart. Wouldn’t it be unfair to give it to one and not the others?”
Su Yi spoke with half-closed eyes. His prominent brow bone should have made him look handsome and sharp, but he was born with round, blunt eyes that upturned at the corners. When he looked at people, there was no sharpness, only a few hints of playfulness.
[Please correct your attitude! You are classified as an SSS-rank high-risk criminal. Naturally, you must be evaluated by the Commander personally!]
Hearing the system’s high-pitched voice, Su Yi curled his lips. “So you sent a novice system like you to supervise me?”
[I have a name! My number is 777. Furthermore, the Court of Judgment’s punishment system is very refined. Even if I am a novice system, it will not affect the trial.]
“Alright, 777.”
Su Yi lowered his head and gave a muffled laugh, stopping his teasing of the new system. He was not sure of the Court’s intentions, but having a novice system was not a bad thing for him.
“So, dear 777, is this all the information regarding this world?” Su Yi focused his gaze on the data page.
[Yes, this is all the information currently available. Specific developments will change based on your choices.]
“So, I am currently an Alpha without pheromones whose father does not care, whose mother does not love, and whose brother has issues with me?”
[Correct!]
“Fine.”
It seemed he would have to explore the rest of the information himself.
“Then what is the test?” Su Yi asked the question he cared about most.
[I will remind you when the test begins.]
Su Yi was surprised; it was actually still unknown. “What about the ending types?”
[Ending types are divided into four categories: Happy Ending (HE), True Ending (TE), Bad Ending (BE), and Special Ending (SE).]
[Warning:] Triggering a Bad Ending represents a failure in this trial, which will extend your judgment time. If a Bad Ending is triggered twice, the system will forcibly match you with a Final Judgment.
“Final Judgment?” Su Yi pressed.
[The Final Judgment will have no assistants to help you. You will be unable to view any information, and you will have only one chance. In other words, if you fail the judgment, you will have to go to prison to repent.]
777 paused intentionally. Su Yi raised an eyebrow. It seemed the Court’s tolerance was not high. He had better not touch that Final Judgment.
“Alright, I understand,” Su Yi complied. “What about the Special Ending?”
[This type of ending must be judged personally by the Presiding Judge. I can only help you analyze the probability of each current ending.]
At this, Su Yi looked down. It seemed half of his fate was in the hands of that so-called Presiding Judge.
Su Yi spoke with a smile. “Will you tell me information about the Presiding Judge?”
[Of course not!] 777 said righteously.
“Alright then. Then, my dear System 777, can you help this poor criminal analyze the current ending probabilities?” Su Yi blinked.
After a light snort, a string of data popped up in Su Yi’s mind.
HE: 10% TE: 0% BE: 60% SE: 0%
Ah, it seemed the arranged marriage ending fell into the BE category. The probability was quite high. Su Yi narrowed his eyes.
From the information provided by the system, there were two directions he could take to change the ending. One was to improve relations with his family, and the other was to obtain pheromones.
The former seemed time-consuming and laborious. Su Yi believed he was only suited for seducing people; using that tactic on family members was truly inappropriate. The latter—zero pheromones—seemed to have low feasibility because he was not sure if he was ill or disabled. If it were the former, there might be a chance. If it were the latter, hope was slim.
Suddenly, his phone vibrated. Su Yi snapped back to reality. He pulled out his phone and saw the sender’s name: Dr. Li.
Dr. Li: “Mr. Su, regarding the treatment plan we discussed three days ago, there is new progress. I am currently matching your pheromones in the database.”
[Context:] Three days ago, you personally went to a private hospital owned by a friend’s family for an examination and discovered you suffer from Congenital Pheromone Deficiency. You spoke with the doctor and ultimately decided on a treatment plan involving the irrigation of pheromones from an Alpha with a low rejection rate to stimulate your glands.
Pheromone Deficiency? Irrigating others’ pheromones?
Su Yi found it somewhat amusing. This was far too similar to the way a succubus lives by absorbing essence. It truly was a judgment designed for him. It seemed the path he could take had been predetermined. This was not necessarily a bad thing. He guessed that the test regarding him was likely coming soon.
Su Yi sent a brief reply and turned off his phone. “Where is Pei Yingjue?”
Now that the pheromone issue was addressed, he needed to finish the task at hand: returning the medal to Pei Yingjue.
[He is in the abandoned equipment room,] 777 chimed in eagerly to prove its usefulness.
“What is he doing there?” Su Yi frowned.
After entering this world, all information related to him had been transferred into his mind. Pei Yingjue was a specially recruited student at Morristy Academy and one of the winners of this league. He was an S-rank Alpha. He was usually cold and strictly followed the rules. Why was he not in the auditorium, and what was he doing in an abandoned equipment room?
“I do not know,” 777 said quietly.
Su Yi did not expect a newcomer system to answer him. He simply let it lead the way.
The abandoned equipment room was quite far from the auditorium, located near the North Gate where almost no one passed. The academy planned to rebuild the area this week. He had no idea what Pei Yingjue was doing in that place.
Su Yi crossed the fountain, walked along the path, and traversed the academy’s “Lovers’ Slope.” He essentially traveled quite a distance before arriving at an area overgrown with wild grass. The abandoned equipment room was tucked into the furthest corner. It was a corrugated iron shack of unknown historical origin, looking as if it might collapse at any moment. The weeds at the door were waist-high. It did not look like anyone had been here.
“Anyone there?”
Su Yi called out twice, but he was met with silence. It did not seem like anyone was inside. Su Yi took two steps forward to get a closer look and realized the door was not fully closed; a crack remained. Just as he was about to move closer, his phone vibrated again.
Dr. Li: “Mr. Su, I have found an Alpha with an extremely low rejection rate for you. Detailed information has been sent to your email.”
Su Yi’s eyes lit up. Ignoring the door for a moment, he clicked on his email first. At the very moment he lowered his head, the iron door creaked open a bit further.
As a dense, salty, and damp scent enveloped him, a two-inch photo in the document reflected in Su Yi’s eyes. It showed a blue background and a white shirt. The youth’s hair was slightly long but could not hide his narrow, cold eyes. He had sword-like brows, a straight nose, and thin lips. He looked cold and detached.
Profile: S-rank Alpha. Pheromones: Sea water scent. Note: Unknown defect in the glands.
“Pei Yingjue?”
Su Yi murmured in surprise. The document clearly stated that Pei Yingjue’s rejection rate with him was 10%.
Suddenly, there was a loud clang. Su Yi snapped back and put his phone away. He looked at the abandoned equipment room. That was the sound of a heavy object falling. He had been so focused that he only now realized how damp the surroundings were, as if he were wrapped in moisture.
The pheromones were too heavy. What did Pei Yingjue’s pheromones smell like?
Su Yi subconsciously recalled the description in the file, but his body reacted first. He stepped forward, his long legs crossing the weeds to reach the door. He looked down at the rusted handle. His slender fingers gripped it, and without hesitation, he pulled open the door.
濃烈的信息素 (Intense pheromones) hit Su Yi full in the face. The primal instinct of an Alpha made him shudder. It was the scent of seawater.
Su Yi looked up and saw that inside the small, cluttered room, Pei Yingjue’s clothes were in disarray. His hands were braced against an iron frame, and the veins were bulging on his well-defined knuckles. Su Yi’s gaze froze as he looked at Pei Yingjue’s fingertips, which were white from exertion.
The other student seemed to hear the noise and turned his head sharply. On that face, usually as proud as snow, was an emotion Su Yi knew all too well: Lust.
“Get out.”
An indignant, husky low growl mixed with desire echoed in the cramped space.
[Ding-dong!] [Event Triggered:] Today, you went to the abandoned equipment room to find someone, but you witnessed an unexpected scene. The proud and cold scholarship student’s clothes are a mess, his eyes are bloodshot, and he seems to have fallen into his heat period.
[You choose:] A. Find the school doctor B. Call emergency services C. Leave the equipment room
The mechanical voice rang in his ear. Su Yi looked at Pei Yingjue. The youth stared at him gloomily, his face flushed, lacking any of his previous aloofness. His formal suit had been violently torn open. Beneath the crumpled fabric was an explosive male scent. It was very distinctive and very attractive.
This was truly a gift from the heavens, falling right in front of him. Su Yi narrowed his eyes. He suddenly remembered the requirement the Court of Judgment had given him before he was deployed: “Follow your heart when making choices.”
Su Yi tilted his head, his eyes downcast, appearing somewhat troubled. But a succubus only knows how to follow desire.
The iron door was pulled shut from the inside.
As evening approached, the only light was cut off, and the room instantly darkened. Two people were squeezed into the tiny space. The sound of leather shoes stepped unhurriedly, moving from far to near. In the dimness, only a hazy, slender figure could be seen.
“Student Pei, you do not look so good. Do you need my help?”
Pei Yingjue frowned. An Alpha’s instinct made him wary as the other approached, but for some unknown reason, he felt more longing and a need for release. The other person could not come any closer.
“Get out!” It was a low growl forced out with the last of his sanity.
But as soon as the words left his mouth, a cloying, seductive perfume scent hit Pei Yingjue in the face. He looked up. The annoying footsteps had stopped at some point. The newcomer stood right before his eyes, looking up at him. A beautiful face crashed into his vision, and Pei Yingjue’s breath hitched. Su Yi’s spiritual gray eyes stared straight at him. In the dark, they became the brightest and most attractive flame.
“But I want to help you.”
A frivolous, lazy voice rang out like a small hook, snagging Pei Yingjue’s last remaining string of sanity. Su Yi, as if afraid he would not believe him, actually had the audacity to raise his hand to unbutton his collar. His slender fingers moved almost piously—one button, two buttons—revealing a neck as white as jade.
Suddenly, Su Yi’s fingers were gripped tightly by the other. The heat was terrifying.
“Why?”
Su Yi heard the tremor in the other’s voice. He tilted his head back, reaching out to gently stroke the youth’s face. His beautiful eyes curved, and his gaze seemed to hide an endless affection that would drown anyone who looked into it. He watched the person before him hold his breath. He chuckled, and his red lips parted.
“Because I have liked you for a very long time, Pei Yingjue.”
