- The Seductive Beauty Breaks the Insecure Bottom Script [Quick Transmigration]
- Chapter 3 - The Company & The Naive College Student
The servant responsible for delivering messages was feeling helpless. The big star in front of him stubbornly refused to leave, forcing the servant to stay out in the rain under an umbrella, wasting time.
Maintaining a polite smile, the servant repeated to Mo Qinan, “Yes, President Song might be tired from his return, so he doesn’t have time to invite you in for the moment.”
Internally, the servant was cursing. This big star had always been difficult to serve; every time he saw the staff, his head was tilted so high it nearly touched the sky. Today, President Song was in a good mood and had handed out a half-year’s bonus; if it weren’t for this man, the servant could have been out drinking with his buddies by now. Serves him right that President Song won’t see him, he thought.
Mo Qinan’s expression was hideous. His perennially cold mask was on the verge of shattering, and one could practically feel his erupting rage even through the car door.
Seeing the stalemate, Mo Qinan’s manager, Brother Liu, hurriedly stepped out to smooth things over. “Oh my, our artist just came back from the awards ceremony and wanted to share the joy with President Song. Since President Song is busy, we’ll come back next time. Don’t take offense!”
As Brother Liu spoke, he shot meaningful looks at Mo Qinan and intentionally emphasized the words “awards ceremony,” trying to highlight Mo Qinan’s status. Unfortunately, even a lowly servant of the Song family villa had seen the world and remained completely unfazed.
Finally, with a cold snort, Mo Qinan rolled up the window. Once the car had driven a certain distance, the manager spoke up anxiously, “Didn’t you say you already had Song Mingjiao wrapped around your finger? Why did he suddenly change his tune today? The next script I picked for you is invested in by their company!”
Mo Qinan looked down at his phone. The message interface showed only the lonely message he had sent during the ceremony; the other side had never replied. He slammed the phone shut, leaned back heavily into the seat, and closed his eyes.
“What’s the rush? The entertainment industry doesn’t just have their company. Besides, it’s just a small company that recently stepped in to grab a piece of the pie. I’ve already made a connection with Director Qiu; I don’t need Song Mingjiao’s tiny bit of investment.”
“I said a few words to him backstage; he’s young and likes to throw tantrums. Just leave him hanging for a couple of days and he’ll be fine.”
Hearing Mo Qinan’s confident words, the manager relaxed and said no more.
On the other side, the conversation also involved an artist and a manager but this time, it was the biggest winner of the awards ceremony, the recipient of tonight’s Star-Goat Best Actor award: He Wang.
He Wang was looking at a photo on his phone that he had bought from a paparazzi at a high price. It was a candid shot of Song Mingjiao and Mo Qinan at an amusement park.
He Wang didn’t spare a single glance for the person hovering beside him. His eyes were fixed solely on the brightly smiling Song Mingjiao in the photo, who was holding an ice cream cone and looking very happy.
Beside him, his manager, Sister Zhang, was muttering over a stack of documents. “It seems the person you met today is indeed the president of that new entertainment company. It took me a long time to find any trace of him and Mo Qinan. They kept it so well-hidden; if you hadn’t pointed me in this direction, most people wouldn’t have guessed it.”
“Mo Qinan has risen abruptly over the past two years. Everyone speculated he had a gold leaf backer, but no one expected it to be such an obscure little company. Based on the resources Mo Qinan gets, it shouldn’t be possible.”
He Wang stroked Song Mingjiao’s face in the photo with his finger before withdrawing his hand. “Is it possible that the small company also has a backer behind it?”
The manager was startled. “I’ll go check immediately.” Then, a thought occurred to her. “But why do you care so much about Mo Qinan? He’s just a ‘traffic star.’ Haven’t we seen enough of those flashes-in-the-pan over the years?”
He Wang sneered. “He isn’t the one I care about. Don’t question my taste. By the way, bring me that variety show script that was offered to me before.”
The manager said crossly, “I rejected that ages ago! Didn’t you say you wouldn’t do variety shows? You said it would ruin your status as a high-class arthouse film actor. Why the change of heart? Now I have to humble myself and go back to the director.”
“Honestly, none of you make things easy.”
The conversations in the entertainment circle had little to do with Song Mingjiao; that was just a tiny corner of his conglomerate. If it weren’t for Mo Qinan, that entertainment company wouldn’t even have been founded.
Currently, he was enjoying a lavish breakfast, with a dutiful bodyguard attentively serving the dishes beside him.
Song Mingjiao bit his spoon, his cheeks bulging slightly from the food, making him look very soft. He said indistinctly, “Li Yuanhua, I want that dessert. The pink one. Yes, that’s it.”
The bodyguard felt helpless but still followed instructions, placing the dessert in front of Song Mingjiao. “Little President Song, you’ve already had enough sweets this morning.”
Song Mingjiao licked the tip of his red tongue and narrowed his eyes in satisfaction. He hadn’t enjoyed such a rich dessert feast in a long time. Propping his head up with one hand on the table, the morning sun shone on him, giving him a lazy aura.
“You don’t understand only good food cannot be betrayed!” Song Mingjiao enjoyed his breakfast leisurely while reporting his itinerary to the System.
“System, your dear host is about to go and contribute to the male lead’s career!”
As Song Mingjiao spoke, he lamented internally: I really am such a worry-free host.
[System: Oh, you finally remembered the male lead? Your behavior of locking him outside yesterday was a serious OOC (Out of Character) violation. 100 points have been deducted. If the host cannot correct the points today, you will face punishment again.]
“Yes, yes. I will work hard, I’ll pave the way for the male lead’s acting career. Don’t worry, System leaving the group to me is absolutely no problem!”
Song Mingjiao ignored the second half of the System’s sentence. The System gave a couple of “he-hes” and went silent. The human and the AI completed a conversation where they were in agreement only on the surface.
But in this exchange, only the System was rendered speechless by anger. Song Mingjiao finished his breakfast beautifully, was escorted into the car by the bodyguard Li Yuanhua, and then waved through the window.
“Off to work! Help me take care of the villa and wait for me to come home!”
Li Yuanhua nodded obediently and watched Song Mingjiao drive away.
Song Mingjiao’s workplace was naturally not his small entertainment company, but the headquarters of the Star-Moon Group. There, his diligent secretary was already waiting for the president’s arrival.
The secretary, named Zhang Xuanzhan, was Song Mingjiao’s capable right-hand man. Since Song’s parents passed away, Zhang had been assisting him in managing the company.
(As a side note: In this world, Song Mingjiao’s parents naturally did not exist as active characters. After all, he was the ultimate “tool man” for the male lead; how could he be allowed a personal social circle or family?)
Secretary Zhang was a graduate of a prestigious foreign business school. He was a tall, imposing man with professional skills to match. Dressed in a meticulous suit, he met the group president at the executive elevator.
“President Song, the previous proposals are all here. There is a meeting at 10:00 AM; I have already scheduled it for you.”
Song Mingjiao was still dressed in casual clothes, his hair slightly messy. His collar was open, revealing his white collarbones, and his eyes were languid under the hat he wore.
With both hands stuffed into his hoodie pockets, he walked through a crowd of professionally dressed men and women. He didn’t look like a group president; he looked more like a naive college student who didn’t know the ways of the world, or perhaps a rich young master here just for fun.
Yet everyone knew that this young President Song was extremely resourceful. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have been able to secure his absolute position in the group against a pack of “old foxes” and smiling-tiger uncles after his parents’ sudden passing.
“Mm, upgrade the meeting level. All department managers must attend. I have something to announce.”
Song Mingjiao, who had been listening to the report, suddenly turned his head catching the refracted sunlight and gave the order to Secretary Zhang.
Zhang Xuanzhan froze for a moment, then immediately agreed and said he would handle it.
No matter how busy it got, the coffee on Song Mingjiao’s desk was never missing. He was very satisfied with this Secretary Zhang of his.
I pay them both, so why can’t the male lead be this obedient? Song Mingjiao thought with some regret.
In the conference room, the heads of various departments were gathered. These figures, whom ordinary employees rarely saw, had all arrived on time. They were whispering among themselves before Song Mingjiao arrived.
“Why is President Song making such a big scene suddenly? Is something going to happen to the company?”
“I haven’t heard anything. External PR is good, internal employees are motivated… it’s the same as usual.”
“We’ll know when he gets here. We can’t guess President Song’s mind anyway.”
Just as they were discussing, the door opened.
Song Mingjiao entered with Secretary Zhang, bathed in sunlight, his expression somewhat cold. The room went silent instantly, followed by a wave of greetings.
“President Song is here.” “Good morning, President Song.”
Initially, everyone’s heart skipped a beat seeing his cold face. Fortunately, Song Mingjiao soon flashed an innocent, harmless smile, allowing everyone to relax. Then, they heard him say with “heart-wrenching” conviction:
“Everyone! Last night, the former Chairman appeared in my dream. He claimed that the group’s current development speed is far too slow! At this rate, when will the Star-Moon Group be able to extend its talons into every field globally?!”
Eh? Talons? Is our company… a villainous one?
While everyone was bewildered, Song Mingjiao continued his performance. He told them to go all out on R&D, seize markets, and make investments. The company wasn’t short on money what it lacked was final success!
Finally, he singled out the head of Human Resources and ordered a 10% salary increase for all employees to give them motivation!
And of course, at the very end, Song Mingjiao expressed his intent to officially acquire a small entertainment company and make a full entry into the entertainment industry. The Star-Moon Group had to take a piece of that cake openly, and he ordered them to immediately prepare for celebrity endorsements and variety show collaborations.
Having spent the morning full of vigor, Song Mingjiao looked with satisfaction at the department heads some were shocked, some excited, and some thoughtful. Finally, under the hesitant gaze of his secretary, he announced:
“Meeting adjourned!”
As soon as he stepped out, he bragged to the System: “See that, System? This is how you build a powerful backing for the male lead.”
The System, which had never actually worked a job, nodded half-understandingly and made its announcement.
[System: Host has progressed the main storyline by 2%. 200 points are awarded to offset the previous deduction. Today’s punishment is waived. Please continue to work hard and play the role of the self-deprecating tool man to support the male lead!]
Song Mingjiao nodded obediently as usual and kept silent.
What a joke, he thought. Who said that once the company develops, it has to be the male lead’s backing?
Tired from the meeting, Song Mingjiao didn’t stop until he reached his office. He grabbed his coffee, took a sip, and then wrinkled his nose unhappily. “So bitter! Secretary Zhang, change this to water. No more bitter coffee from now on!”
Zhang Xuanzhan agreed in silence. When he returned, he was carrying a cup of freshly brewed milk tea. But as Song Mingjiao reached for it, the secretary spoke with a hint of gritted teeth:
“Was the ‘important meeting’ you held today… all for the sake of that celebrity?”
