- The Scummy Alpha Who Transmigrated Into a Book Was Tricked by the Actress Omega
- Chapter 10 - Deviation
Dr. Song had only known about this matter in passing. She initially thought it was her friend coercing Du Zuilan’s family, never imagining the truth behind it. Hearing the explanation left her dumbfounded. Her expression shifted from “You better explain yourself properly” to “What the hell, this is actually possible?” She didn’t even notice her lipstick had smudged.
All she could do was solemnly start pondering compared to this, Yan Xunzhen was practically a saint. Could it be that this woman was genuinely blinded by impulse before and was now turning over a new leaf?
Yan Xunzhen, however, felt that the original scumbag Alpha and Du Zuilan’s mother, who sold out her own daughter for personal gain, were truly birds of a feather.
To think that because of an outsider someone who coveted her own daughter, she would forbid her daughter from returning home and instead send her to live with that scumbag Alpha. Wasn’t that just pushing her into the fire?
Her brows furrowed slightly as she withdrew the warmth and gentleness she had exuded earlier, her expression turning cold. She lifted her gaze to glance at Madam Qiao and said, “I won’t be continuing any transactions with you.”
“You, how dare you!”
Yan Xunzhen raised an eyebrow. “So you treat your daughter as nothing more than a tool, is that it? For money, you’d disregard her well-being entirely, not caring which Alpha might take advantage of her?”
“The old Yan Xunzhen was a disgusting creature, her mind clouded, doing all sorts of vile things.” She lifted her slender hand, tapping her temple lightly with her index finger before pointing it at Madam Qiao from a distance. “But you’re no saint either.”
“Let me make this clear, any contracts you had with me in the past are hereby terminated. And don’t even think about letting anyone else lay a finger on Du Zuilan. She’s her own person, not some tool for you to profit from.”
As if struck by a sudden thought, Yan Xunzhen’s tone carried a mix of mockery and skepticism. “You’re not even Du Zuilan’s birth mother, are you?”
Madam Qiao trembled violently, her lips quivering as she spewed a torrent of obscenities.
Yan Xunzhen smirked faintly.
Pushing her executive chair back, she sat down with effortless elegance and authority, crossing her long legs. The taut line from her pointed toes to her calves was lethally beautiful, breathtaking even.
Her languid tone carried the nonchalance of someone truly in power. “See her out.”
With a loud “bang,” the door swung open, and the people outside escorted the furious Madam Qiao away. The CEO’s office fell silent once more.
Yan Xunzhen was deep in thought when she noticed Dr. Song sitting across from her, lips slightly parted in surprise before breaking into a smile. A look of admiration and approval flickered in her eyes as she couldn’t help but remark, “I never expected this. After knowing you for so many years, this is the first time you’ve actually seemed like a decent person.”
Yan Xunzhen remained unfazed. “Indeed.”
She wasn’t wearing much makeup today, just a touch of lipstick to brighten her complexion, yet she still looked stunning. Lightly tapping the edge of the desk, her pensive expression nearly left Dr. Song staring in a daze.
Chiding herself inwardly, Dr. Song quickly composed herself. “So, what’s your plan now?”
Yan Xunzhen’s fingertips brushed against her rosy lips. She lowered her head, studying them for a moment before suddenly curling them into a faint smile as if resolving this matter was as effortless as admiring dew-kissed, ripe berries. Utterly assured.
Dr. Song cut in before she could speak: “You need to understand, that night you were nothing like your usual careless self. Tianneng probably planned to wait until you were dazed by an omega before slowly devouring your assets. Now, it’s an open declaration of war.”
“You said you hated King Rui, didn’t you? Well, I’ll acquire it. You wanted to drive King Rui out of business? Then I’ll become its backbone. On the surface, it’ll look like King Rui is slapping you in the face, forcing you to stoop to their level and fight them. But in reality, Tianneng is the one reaping the benefits.”
Yan Xunzhen gave an almost imperceptible smile and nodded.
That was indeed the case, with only one point Dr. Song got wrong, Tianneng wasn’t truly backing King Rui. They were merely using that bald-headed king as a pawn, hoping Yan Xunzhen would still be the same useless fool, panicking and wasting energy fighting King Rui while Tianneng picked up the pieces and stabbed her in the back. Their ambition was far too grand, and they didn’t seem worried about biting off more than they could chew and choking on it.
Yan Xunzhen said calmly, “Don’t worry. It’s manageable.”
“As far as Tianneng Group itself is concerned, Junyan is more than enough to crush them. I’m not concerned.”
She wasn’t joking. Back then, so many had eyed her family’s wealth with greed, only to be soundly beaten into silence, slinking away with their tails between their legs. In the span of a thought, she could already envision multiple scenarios where Tianneng and other corporations would end up locked in mutual restraint, like the snipe and the clam fighting while the fisherman reaped the rewards.
“The only thing I’m slightly concerned about is public opinion. Words can kill,” she said with a light laugh. “But unfortunately for them, this time, I’m the one holding the knife.”
Dr. Song had voluntarily stepped away from these power struggles to become a doctor, but hearing Yan Xunzhen’s cryptic statement, she couldn’t help but ask, “So, what are you planning to do?”
“Public opinion,” Yan Xunzhen chuckled. “Choosing King Rui as their pawn to provoke me was their biggest mistake. They didn’t even stop to consider who’s really at a disadvantage here.”
“Anyway, all you need to know is that I’ll win. That’s enough.”
Yan Xunzhen’s lips curled, her eyes lifting slightly, long lashes exuding confidence, stunningly beautiful.
Like a big cat lying in wait.
Dr. Song swept the hair cascading over her shoulders back with both hands and couldn’t help but laugh. “Alright, then I won’t worry. Now, there’s just one more question.”
“Tonight, Du Zuilan’s crew is having a dinner gathering. Are you going?”
A dinner gathering?
From the moment Yan Xunzhen decided to interact normally with Du Zuilan, she had no intention of avoiding her. But… the awkward encounter this morning was still fresh in her mind. Given her terrible reputation, in such social settings, people either fawned over her with false flattery or looked down on her with self-righteous disdain.
Yan Xunzhen idly picked up a fountain pen and thought for a moment. “I won’t go. I’ll be working late at the office tonight, cleaning up the mess that manager left behind.”
Dr. Song let out an “Oh,” but just as she was about to grab her bag and leave, another thought struck her.
“Wait! Du Zuilan, she won’t get harassed again, will she?”
The pen in Yan Xunzhen’s hand paused, ink seeping onto the paper, leaving a mark.
“It shouldn’t happen. I’ve already warned them that Du Zuilan is my friend. Surely no one’s dense enough to ignore that?”
Dr. Song said, “That’s not necessarily true. Don’t forget, that woman who sold her daughter for glory just left. If someone were to sell their daughter, Prince Rui that bald-headed king might not act directly, but he’d definitely use Tianneng’s name to humiliate her, to insult her…”
Yan Xunzhen stood up.
She pressed a hand to her forehead and said, “Let’s go. Right now.”
“Here’s to you, President Wang! May your new land acquisition go smoothly, hahaha!”
“Thank you, thank you,” Bald Wang raised his glass, his face practically blooming with joy. His squinting eyes made him look particularly lecherous as his gaze shifted from the person toasting him to the side where Du Zuilan sat quietly with her head bowed. “Oh? Isn’t this Miss Du?”
Du Zuilan didn’t respond, keeping her head down, composed and unruffled under the varied gazes of the actors around her.
President Wang chuckled. “Miss Du, about what happened last time, my apologies. How about I toast you?”
Only then did Du Zuilan lift her head slightly. Her delicate fingers twitched. She knew she couldn’t flaunt Yan Xunzhen’s name to put on airs, so she prepared to pick up her glass.
But then, President Wang feigned surprise and said with a laugh, “Why isn’t President Yan by Miss Du Zuilan’s side today? Weren’t they said to be close friends? What a shame. I was hoping to apologize to President Yan about that land deal.”
Du Zuilan’s brow furrowed imperceptibly before smoothing out again. Silently, she picked up her glass, remaining indifferent to Bald Wang’s nonsense.
“Ah, last time, President Yan slapped my hand so hard it still hurts. What am I supposed to do about that?” Bald Wang sighed dramatically, setting his glass down.
The room fell silent. The news that “Du Zuilan and Yan Xunzhen were close friends” had already given them enough to digest, and now they learned the two had a grudge with this President Wang? This was going to be interesting.
Bald Wang glanced around smugly before sighing, “Could Miss Du pour me a drink?”
Du Zuilan’s fingers tightened slightly around the glass, but she only gave a faint “Mm,” her expression unreadable.
She stood up, took the opened bottle from the lazy Susan with polite and proper movements, keeping a slight distance from Bald Wang.
Even so, her slender, fair neck was fully exposed as she bent her head. The inhibitor patch blocked part of the view, but it only redirected Bald Wang’s lecherous gaze, which soon wandered to her full, lovely chest.
Du Zuilan poured the wine a little faster.
She pushed the glass over, suppressing her emotions, and said softly, “Here you go.”
Bald Wang clicked his tongue ambiguously. If Du Zuilan hadn’t pushed the glass toward him, he would have reached out to grope her.
He eyed the glass, rubbed its rim, swirled the wine inside, and took a deep sniff.
“Such fine wine. Though I doubt it compares to what I once smelled before… what was it called? Orange-flavored wine? Miss Du, have you ever had it?”
A blatant sexual harassment.
Du Zuilan felt a throbbing pain between her brows. The problem was, his harassment was still verbal, no concrete evidence to warrant punishment. And everyone around her was just watching the show; no one stepped in to help.
Du Zuilan replied flatly, “No.”
Bald Wang grinned. “Ah, what a pity.”
“Oh, right,” Manager Wang suddenly pointed to her side, “Why are you actors sitting so cramped over there? Come sit here, there’s plenty of space on my side.”
A moment of silence followed.
The next instant, the private room’s door was abruptly flung open with a loud “bang.”
Everyone’s gaze was involuntarily drawn to the entrance was there someone else arriving? How dare they be so brazen!
Almost immediately, the person who entered let out a mocking laugh.
The woman stood tall and imposing, her presence overwhelming. The sheer alpha dominance radiating from her sent chills down spines. Removing her sunglasses, she swept a cool, narrowed glance across the room with her striking phoenix eyes before parting her beautiful lips to speak:
“Let me see, who’s going to offer me their seat?”
