The Scumbag Who Bowed for Money - Chapter 45 (END)
[My beloved…]
Xie Yuanwei’s hands were trembling. She looked up and saw Le Shi standing not far ahead, quietly watching her.
Bai Zhiqu gently patted Xie Yuanwei on the back and said softly, “Go on.”
All the confusion in Xie Yuanwei’s eyes disappeared. She walked quickly to Le Shi’s side and took her suitcase. The joy in her eyes was impossible to hide.
Le Shi looked at her calmly, then turned her gaze toward Wu Wu. She let out a silent breath and motioned for Xie Yuanwei to lead the way back to the room. The omega walked alongside the alpha, never once glancing at Wu Wu.
“How did you get here?” Xie Yuanwei asked as she set the suitcase down. She rubbed her hands nervously.
Le Shi sat down on the bed, then lay back, clearly exhausted. “I was afraid that if I didn’t come, someone would start overthinking things.”
“I wasn’t,” Xie Yuanwei replied, barely louder than a whisper.
Le Shi chuckled softly. “These past few days, I’ve been handling the situation with Zheng Shunyu. You might not know what kind of person she really is. She treats her friends well, but she can also be incredibly ruthless.”
“She had no more use for you, and once she realized you were connected to me, she wanted to use you to stir things up. I was afraid you might get hurt, so I thought it was better to take you away from all of that for a while. And as for the things I said to Bai Zhiqu earlier, I had my reasons. I wasn’t sure if she was really on my side.”
Xie Yuanwei blinked, surprised. “What do you mean?”
Le Shi smiled and pushed herself up a little. Her voice lowered. “I was afraid she might fall for Xie Yuanwei, just like someone once did before.”
The sound of the waves filled the air.
Le Shi stood in the shallow surf, facing away from the sun and toward Xie Yuanwei. Her eyes shimmered like a clear spring as she shouted, “Xie Yuanwei!”
Xie Yuanwei stood frozen in place. The sea breeze swept through her hair, and though the wind was strong, Le Shi’s figure became clearer and clearer.
The omega stood beside her. She tilted her head upward and spoke with a trembling voice. “I died once.”
Xie Yuanwei’s voice was dry and hoarse. “I know.”
“Back then, because of my pheromone addiction, I couldn’t even get out of bed anymore. I was barely surviving, lying there in a hospital. I never would have imagined the one to end my life would be Xie Yuanwei. You pulled the plug and watched me die.”
“When I was given a second chance at life, I couldn’t believe it. Before you ran away, I was convinced it was still her. But the moment I saw you again, I knew I had really been reborn.”
Le Shi had always known that this Xie Yuanwei wasn’t the original one.
“What about you? How much do you know?”
Xie Yuanwei met her gaze and replied quietly, “I know everything. I know the original Xie Yuanwei was supposed to end up with Bai Zhiqu. I know how your story was meant to end. But I’m not her.”
Le Shi slowly stepped forward and wrapped her arms around Xie Yuanwei. She rested her head on her shoulder.
“The person I feared the most was Bai Zhiqu,” Le Shi whispered. “But on the day you left, she called me.”
“She was choosing a different path from the one fate laid out for her. She doesn’t love ‘Bai Zhiqu.’ So in her own way, she was resisting fate too.”
Xie Yuanwei hugged Le Shi tightly, her voice choking. “I’m just an ordinary person. I don’t have anything…”
Before she could finish, the alpha was silenced by a kiss. Le Shi pressed her forehead against hers and asked, “Why are you upset? This is the moment you’re supposed to tell me everything.”
Xie Yuanwei lowered her eyes and looked at Le Shi. Her lips trembled.
“The owner of this guesthouse looks exactly like my mother. When I was a child, my parents also ran a guesthouse, in a place almost exactly like this. But when I was six, my mother was murdered by my father. He tied me up and left me in a corner, forcing me to watch her die.”
“The neighbors heard the noise and called the police. He went to prison. I was sent to an orphanage, but the other children accused me of helping him. Their words tormented me all through my youth. Things only got better once I started working.”
Tears fell from her eyes without warning.
“I feel so sad, but when I saw the owner, I couldn’t help feeling a bit relieved. At least she’s living a good life now.”
Xie Yuanwei clung to Le Shi and sobbed. “I just couldn’t hold it in…”
Le Shi gently stroked her back and held her tightly.
Thank goodness… I met you too.
After Le Shi arrived, Yan Yu and Bai Zhiqu started teasing them even more than usual. The four of them went to a restaurant together. Everyone drank a lot, except for Xie Yuanwei, who stayed sober and struggled to get the other two safely back to their rooms.
As soon as she stepped into her own room, she saw Le Shi lying on the bed. Her eyes were hazy, and her cheeks were flushed as she looked up at her. Her speech was slightly slurred.
“Don’t move.”
Xie Yuanwei paused in her steps and raised an eyebrow. “Alright, I won’t move.”
“You didn’t compliment me today.”
“Hm?”
Le Shi gave a soft huff. “Your Xie family bullied me. The Le family bullied me too. But I made it through. Yan Yu and I took them all down. Don’t you think that’s impressive?”
“No one will ever bully us again.”
Xie Yuanwei felt her heart soften.
“Yes. That’s amazing.”
“Hey, don’t come any closer!” Le Shi tried to sit up, supporting herself with her arms. She looked at Xie Yuanwei and asked,
“Do you like me?”
“I do.”
Le Shi let out a short laugh.
“When did you start liking me?”
Xie Yuanwei gazed at her quietly. After a pause, she answered softly,
“I don’t really know. I just feel happy every time I see you.”
“Is that so?” Le Shi mumbled under her breath. She tilted her head and said,
“When I see you, I feel happy too. I’m so lucky to have met you.”
“Don’t worry. As long as I’m here, no one will hurt you again.”
Xie Yuanwei smiled.
“I believe you.”
Le Shi nodded, her gaze serious.
“Let’s be good to each other for the rest of our lives.”
The alpha’s lashes trembled. She nodded slowly, her voice catching in her throat.
“Alright. Let’s stay together for the rest of our lives.”
Le Shi lowered her head, stretched out her hand, and hooked her finger.
“Come here. Hold me.”
“Mark me.”
The air was filled with the mingling scent of pheromones.
Xie Yuanwei grabbed Le Shi by the hair and pressed the omega down. She kissed her eyes gently and whispered,
“You’re so beautiful.”
Le Shi tilted her head back. Tears slipped from the corners of her eyes.
She sniffled but still opened her eyes to look at Xie Yuanwei.
“…Xie Yuanwei.”
The alpha turned her over and lowered her head to kiss the back of her neck, where her gland pulsed faintly.
With Le Shi silently trembling beneath her, Xie Yuanwei completed the mark.
She wiped away Le Shi’s uncontrollable tears and whispered,
“I love you, Le Shi.”
“We’ll be together for a lifetime.”
Just as it began, fate quietly rewrote itself to make room for their shared life.
They would be happy for a lifetime.
