The Scumbag Who Bowed for Money - Chapter 41
Xie Yuanwei immediately walked over to Le Shi’s side. She lowered her head and complained softly, eyes filled with grievance.
“She keeps bothering me.”
Le Shi was silent for a moment.
“I know,” she replied, stepping into the room and closing the door behind her. With that, all the curious eyes outside were shut out. She leaned against the door and looked calmly at He Suhe.
“Weren’t you coming to see me, He Suhe?”
He Suhe let out a click of her tongue and casually pulled out a chair, sitting down.
“Yeah, I just changed my mind at the last minute.”
She sounded completely justified. Xie Yuanwei let out a faint laugh, clearly unimpressed. She looked at Le Shi and spoke plainly.
“You’re just messing with me. You didn’t actually intend to do anything in such a short time.”
Le Shi wasn’t stupid. She would figure things out quickly. He Suhe didn’t have much time left to play her game.
It was obvious she only wanted to provoke them.
He Suhe pouted and nodded, raising her eyebrows at both of them.
“Alright, fine. I just wanted to tease you. My bad.”
“I’m off now. Looking forward to seeing how well you two perform.”
Le Shi pulled Xie Yuanwei aside to give her space. He Suhe left and even kindly closed the door behind her.
The alpha stood obediently next to the omega, blinking, her gaze burning with affection as it settled on Le Shi.
“How did I do?” she asked quietly.
Le Shi gave a small click of her tongue and turned to look around the room, confirming there were no cameras. She reached out and tugged at Xie Yuanwei’s clothes. Neither of them had changed outfits yet, so most of Le Shi’s body was still pressed against the alpha’s skin. Her fingers were cool to the touch, and her gaze slowly swept downward.
“You’re quite popular, aren’t you?”
Le Shi let out a light chuckle, her tone calm.
“How many now?”
Xie Yuanwei gave an awkward little laugh and cleared her throat. Then, without a word, she pulled out her phone and quickly handed it to Le Shi.
“That’s not it,” she muttered.
At first, Le Shi didn’t quite understand, but the moment she saw what was on the screen, she fell silent.
Le Shi stared.
Why on earth was she looking at the omega popularity rankings?
Ever since Le Shi had officially announced their engagement, her popularity hadn’t dropped—it had actually skyrocketed. Even Xie Yuanwei’s popularity had gone up several notches.
From what Xie Yuanwei had gathered from her lurking online, most of the audience was secretly waiting for them to break up. But not just break up—people wanted to see them fight.
Xie Yuanwei always ended up stunned by the comments she saw. She occasionally checked the rankings, and every time, Le Shi was firmly in first place.
That just wouldn’t do.
One day, without thinking, she clicked into the rankings and reflexively handed her phone to Le Shi—only realizing what she had done after catching the omega’s gaze.
Wait. Why did she open that list?
If she remembered correctly, that particular ranking was for: The Omega Most People Want to Take Home.
Xie Yuanwei stood frozen.
“So, uh… President Le, I—”
Le Shi let out a soft laugh, cutting her off. She raised her hand and firmly lifted Xie Yuanwei’s chin, clicking her tongue twice before asking gently.
“And what were you looking at that for?”
“I was curious,” Xie Yuanwei answered honestly.
Le Shi laughed again.
“‘Most wanted omega to take home,’ huh? But the top-ranked omega has already brought a high-matching alpha home. What are we supposed to do now?”
“Do you think that alpha would agree to share this omega with anyone else?”
Xie Yuanwei let out a couple of sheepish chuckles. She looked Le Shi in the eye and said,
“I can’t make that decision. It’s up to the omega.”
“So,” Le Shi asked softly, lips close to her ear, “does that omega want to bring the alpha home?”
