“Hey, President Le, didn’t you say the kitten was being delivered today?”

Xie Yuanwei walked out while drying her hair. She looked at Le Shi, who was sitting in the recliner, and casually asked,
“Did something happen with the kitten?”

“No,” Le Shi looked up and gave a small smile. Under the light, her face looked even more radiant.
“My assistant got sick today. Things got busy in the afternoon, and I completely forgot about it.”

“It’s my fault,” she added, clearly feeling a bit guilty.
“I was just about to tell you. She asked for leave this afternoon because she suddenly fell ill.”

Xie Yuanwei gave a calm nod and took out the hair dryer.
“I’ll go pick it up tomorrow then.”

The sound of the hair dryer filled the room and softened their voices. There was always a breeze-like feeling around her ears. Xie Yuanwei squinted slightly as she tried to hear Le Shi’s voice clearly. The omega said,
“Whatever works for you. It’s up to you.”

“I’ll go take a shower now.”

That line she heard clearly. Xie Yuanwei nodded and said casually,
“Go ahead. Let’s sleep early tonight.”

Then the alpha turned her attention back to drying her hair, not noticing the glance Le Shi gave her, filled with curiosity and hesitation.

Once she finished drying her hair, Xie Yuanwei put the dryer away. Just as she closed the drawer, she suddenly remembered something and turned to look at the wardrobe where her clothes were kept.

Le Shi had gone there earlier to get her a towel. She would have opened the wardrobe.

At the time, Xie Yuanwei had been a little nervous. She had quickly changed the packaging for the waist chain and stuffed the white box into the drawer. It was probably placed right on top of her towels.

She winced.

Without meaning to, she swallowed hard and took a deep breath. She walked over quietly, opened the drawer carefully, and picked up the white box. The moment she held it, she knew something was wrong. The weight was off.

That waist chain had some weight to it. If Le Shi saw it, would she think she was being too flirtatious? Would it ruin her image?

With trembling hands, Xie Yuanwei shoved the box into the corner and muttered to herself,
“She didn’t throw it away, right?”

Her face turned red instantly. Only she knew why she bought that gift. It was because she thought it would suit Le Shi perfectly. But how could she ever say that out loud? What would she even say if Le Shi asked her about it?

“Why did I do that?” Xie Yuanwei buried her face in her hands, feeling overwhelmed.
“I really couldn’t help myself.”

She had never felt this embarrassed in her life. She bit her lip, feeling the heat rush to her face. Her entire twenty-seven years of life felt like a blur in that moment.

Trying to calm herself, Xie Yuanwei rubbed her face, then climbed into bed and pulled the blanket over her head.

From now on, this blanket is my shield.

She hadn’t been under it for long when she heard the bathroom door open. Xie Yuanwei gripped the blanket tightly and wrapped herself even more tightly inside.

“Xie Yuanwei, come out.”

The moment she heard Le Shi’s voice, she pulled the blanket down slightly. As soon as their eyes met, she froze.

Le Shi was wearing a short top that revealed her waist. Her pajama pants were loosely fitted. And just as Xie Yuanwei had imagined, her skin was pale and flawless. She really was the most beautiful, most adorable person she had ever seen.

Around her waist was the chain. The same waist chain. The moment she moved, the pendants on it made a soft clinking sound. It was enough to make anyone’s heart race. The curve of her waist was smooth and graceful. Le Shi turned her head slightly to avoid eye contact.

“You like this?”

Xie Yuanwei closed her eyes, unable to hide her smile.

“I just saw it and thought it looked nice, so I bought it.”

“Who did you buy it for?”

“You.”

Xie Yuanwei licked her dry lips and cleared her throat.

“When I saw the waist chain, I immediately thought it would suit you. But I didn’t plan to give it to you. I was afraid you’d be upset. I just… I wasn’t sure if you’d like it.”

Le Shi stood under the light and slowly turned to meet Xie Yuanwei’s gaze. Her eyes were warm and slightly wet. She reached out and gently touched the small pendants on the chain, then looked back at the alpha with steady eyes. Her lips parted slightly.

“I’m not upset. I really like it.”

Xie Yuanwei didn’t dare move. Her hands clutched the blanket tightly, her face still flushed. Le Shi had just come out of the shower, her face still pink and her damp hair clinging lightly to her cheeks. She looked soft, gentle, and hard to resist.

“You look beautiful in that.”

Xie Yuanwei turned her head away, avoiding Le Shi’s gaze. The omega took a deep breath and asked quietly,
“Really? Do I really look beautiful?”

The alpha replied again,
“Yes. Beautiful. You look amazing. You’re the most beautiful person I’ve ever seen.”

Le Shi’s eyelashes trembled. She bit her lip and gently pressed her fingers to her lips, her voice low and a little unsteady.

“Control your pheromones a little. My legs feel weak.”

Xie Yuanwei clenched her teeth. She quickly covered her face with her hands and buried her head under the blanket.

“Okay.”

“Then… I’ll go change now.”

Le Shi began stepping backward. With each movement, the waist chain around her waist jingled softly. The sound made Xie Yuanwei’s ears turn red, and the omega herself moved carefully, afraid of making too much noise.

“Go ahead and change.”

Xie Yuanwei listened to the sound of the door closing, then slowly lifted her flushed face from under the blanket. Her heart still racing, she grabbed her phone in a panic, only to see a new post from Yan Yu on her feed.

It was a scenic photo, showing the shadows of two people holding hands.

The caption read:
“She bought me a cup of coconut juice.”

There weren’t many comments, just a few close friends from their circle.

Without thinking, Xie Yuanwei immediately replied:
“How did you know she wore the waist chain and showed it to me?”

Yan Yu:
“What???”
