The Scumbag Omega Chases After Platonic Love - Chapter 3
The rain had intensified by the time they reached Nai Bing’s apartment complex.
Yi Zhanying got out first, holding an umbrella to escort Nai Bing out of the car. “Careful now.”
“I’m fine, I can manage myself,” Nai Bing protested, feeling like she was being treated like a child. Do I really need help getting out of a car? I’m not some delicate lady.
Nai Bing glanced sideways at the woman beside her. She was undeniably beautiful, with a gentle nature and refined demeanor. She didn’t smoke or drink, had an excellent education and career, and was only 24.
Talent and a head start in life were both crucial, Nai Bing thought, feeling a pang of self-doubt.
“What’s on your mind?” Yi Zhanying asked with a warm smile, noticing raindrops on her sister’s glasses. She gently removed them, wiped them clean with a handkerchief, and carefully put them back on.
“Bingbing, you’re so pretty, especially without your glasses. Your eyes are so bright,” Yi Zhanying complimented.
“Oh? Really?” Nai Bing stammered, caught off guard and blushing. Being flirted with so suddenly under the same umbrella left her flustered, her heart pounding like a trapped bird.
Unable to meet Yi Zhanying’s look, she turned away and pretended to cough to hide her embarrassment. Honestly, why do I always lose my composure around this woman?
“Do you live alone now?” Yi Zhanying asked as they reached the building entrance and folded the umbrella.
“No, no, I have a roommate,” Nai Bing replied hastily, her voice flustered.
As they waited for the elevator, Yi Zhanying noticed the girl’s reddening ears and chuckled softly. “Bing, you’re so shy.”
Someone sighed, covering their face as if they hadn’t heard. Ding! The elevator arrived.
Is she afraid of me? Nai Bing deliberately avoided Yi Zhanying’s gaze, staring straight ahead.
“If you don’t want me to see you blushing, I won’t look at you,” Yi Zhanying said.
“You…” Nai Bing chuckled. You’re actually quite thoughtful.
At the door of their two-bedroom apartment, Nai Bing said, “We’re here, Miss Yi. Come in. I’ll get you some slippers.” She hurried inside and rummaged through a box, finding only a pair of old summer sandals. That’s all I have.
“Is your roommate here?” Yi Zhanying noticed a bowl of leftover instant noodles on the table, and the TV was on.
“Yeah, she’s probably inside, yakking on the phone,” Nai Bing said, taking out orange juice from the fridge and pouring two glasses. She sat down across from Yi Zhanying.
Yi Zhanying noticed Nai Bing kept brushing her bangs aside, which kept falling into her eyes. She probably hasn’t had a haircut in a while. Does she trim it herself to save money?
Nai Bing, unaware of Yi Zhanying’s thoughts, saw the affection in her eyes. She lifted her glass of orange juice to take a sip, but Yi Zhanying reached out to stop her.
Yi Zhanying plucked a strand of hair from Nai Bing’s glass and swapped their drinks. “Here, drink mine.”
She wrapped the dirty hair in a napkin and tossed it into the nearby trash can.
Nai Bing stared, speechless. “You’re so thoughtful,” she murmured.
“Xiao Qi told me you came to study here alone and are now working independently. I just want to help you out however I can,” Yi Zhanying said with a warm smile.
Help out? Her tone was so casual, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.
“And from what I hear, the rent in this neighborhood isn’t great for the price. Have you considered living with Xiao Qi?” Yi Zhanying continued.
Nai Bing pressed her lips together, saying nothing. She hated imposing on others. How could she even think of bothering her classmate? Yet Yi Zhanying had brought it up herself, leaving Nai Bing deeply touched.
She was what people called a “drifter,” alone and adrift in a foreign place. Every month, she had to send most of her meager earnings home, leaving little for herself. A young woman carrying such a heavy burden… the poor thing.
“Thank you for your concern. I just don’t feel right about it. Besides, you’re the first person in years to offer to take care of me,” Nai Bing said, nodding slightly. She suddenly looked up, her face breaking into a pure, childlike smile, like a flower bud just beginning to bloom.
Yi Zhanying, caught completely off guard, was instantly healed by that smile. She immediately changed the subject, speaking bluntly, “Don’t thank me. Taking care of you is a gift from God. If you really want to thank me, how about a kiss?”
“Huh? This…” The conversation had taken a sudden 180-degree turn. One moment it was warm and tender, the next it was bluntly flirtatious. Must you tease me like this? Nai Bing clenched her fists in frustration.
“Haha, you look so wronged,” Yi Zhanying said, amused.
Bang! At that moment, Nai Bing’s roommate emerged from the bedroom, startled by the scene in the living room. “Huh? Bingbing, who’s this?”
Before Nai Bing could think of an answer, her roommate had already rushed over, her eyes were sparkling with gossip and admiration. “Wow, she’s gorgeous! When did a social recluse like you manage to snag such a stunning beauty? Ooh-la-la!”
“She’s my classmate’s older sister,” Nai Bing replied.

After she left, Nai Bing stayed in her room, replaying Yi Zhanying’s words in her mind. Her voice had been so gentle, like flowing water, her words filled with genuine concern and sincerity, almost like a caring elder.
But Yi Zhanying was only two years older than her. According to social norms, if they ever dated, Nai Bing, as the Alpha, should be the one taking care of her.
Wait, dating? Realizing what she was thinking, Nai Bing quickly stopped herself. She grabbed her phone and sent a text: “Are you home yet? It’s still raining. Drive safe.”
Soon after, she received a new friend request on WeChat. This time, Nai Bing accepted it, and a voice call immediately came through.
“Hello?”
“I’ll be home in about half an hour. What are you up to, Little Bing? Do you ever think of me?”
Nai Bing was speechless. If I’m being honest, I have been thinking about you, but not in the way you’re hoping for.
“I think of you constantly. Your face, your voice, your scent…”
Nai Bing listened intently, her expression growing increasingly puzzled. Why was she suddenly changing the subject? Especially with that seductive voice, like someone whispering sweet nothings into her ear while nibbling on it.
“What do you mean?” she asked, forcing herself to sound calm.
“I want to hold you close and hear you pant all night long.”
Nai Bing gripped the phone, frozen. Time ticked by, and she bit her lip in growing panic. Though she had zero romantic experience and was utterly clueless in that department, she could sense something was up.
Was this flirting? But she was a blank slate, completely clueless. Would ignoring her seem rude or discouraging?
“Your breathing… it must sound pretty good,” she replied after a moment’s thought, her heart pounding. She tried to sound calm and collected, even though she was trembling inside.
“Not bad at all. You even get so excited you lose your voice.”
Nai Bing received the signal and fell into thought again. She replied, “Then you should stock up on Watermelon Frost and take good care of your throat. Your voice is already lovely. Why do you need to practice vocal exercises?”
A long silence followed.
“Because I want to have a dolphin voice,” Yi Zhanying finally answered.
“I see… And I imagine hugging all night must get pretty hot, right?”
“It’s fine. I’m always cold anyway.”
