The Scumbag Omega Chases After Platonic Love - Chapter 2
The weather forecast predicted rain today. Sunlight filtered weakly through the dome, and a gentle late spring breeze brushed against her face, bringing a sense of refreshing calm.
It was late April, and after several rounds of campus recruitment, she had finally received an offer from a well-established psychological counseling center. The salary wasn’t high compared to her classmates, but as a fresh graduate, she was content.
Early that morning, she threw her coat over her pajamas and headed downstairs to the convenience store to buy groceries for the week: cabbage, ham, lettuce, onions, and the most expensive item—pork.
With pork prices soaring to over thirty yuan per pound, Nai Bing gritted her teeth and decided against it. She turned to the frozen section and chose chicken breast instead. Though the texture was inferior, its nutritional value rivaled pork.
As she passed the dessert aisle, she noticed small mousse cakes on sale: “Buy One, Get One Free!” The creamy filling in the glossy white packaging looked utterly delicious…
Beep. Someone beside her grabbed two boxes, and the adorable desserts vanished from the shelf. The person appeared as if from nowhere, a radiant and warm smile on their face, eyes crinkling with amusement.
“What are you doing here?! What a coincidence!” Nai Bing reflexively panicked at the sight of Yi Zhanying, her gaze darting away.
“Just passing by and thought I’d take a look,” Yi Zhanying replied, noticing the pajamas beneath Nai Bing’s coat. She probably planned to head straight home after shopping.
“Want to sit down over there?” Yi Zhanying gestured toward a small milk tea shop near the supermarket exit.
“Okay…”
The two desserts were perfectly portioned, one for each of them. Nai Bing watched as Yi Zhanying thoughtfully helped her unwrap hers, carefully wiping away any spilled pudding with a tissue.
The gesture felt so natural, like a scene from a child’s make-believe game. Only someone deeply in love would be this attentive, right? She probably used to do this for others too.
Ha, Nai Bing thought with a secret, cold laugh. You have no idea what a Waterloo feels like.
“Do you feel it?” Yi Zhanying asked, her voice dripping with romantic bliss. “It’s like we’re an old married couple out grocery shopping.”
“Huh?!” Nai Bing’s eyebrows shot up in shock. We just happened to bump into each other at the supermarket, and she’s already fantasizing about this? This woman is so narcissistic and delusional. I need to bring her down a peg.
“Speaking of which, Miss Yi Zhanying,” Nai Bing said, addressing her by her full name.
“Just call me Yingying~”
“You’re strong in every area; work, social skills, everything. You must have some weakness, right? No one can be this perfect. Tell me, what are your shameful secrets?” Nai Bing propped her cheek on her hand, gazing at Yi Zhanying with curiosity, eager to expose the “scum” and see her squirm.
Yi Zhanying fell into thought. “Music, chess, calligraphy, painting, singing, and dancing all come naturally to me. I’m even decent at sports,” she said earnestly. “My obvious weaknesses are probably math and… my libido.”
“Huh?” Nai Bing pushed up her thick-framed glasses. Math and that? How could they even be compared?
“I can mess up simple addition and subtraction within 100.”
Yi Zhanying grabbed a notepad and pen from the store and wrote 3 + 8 = 11. She looked up, her smile was as warm as a spring breeze, her eyes glistening like rain-soaked petals. “As for the other thing… I have a rather high libido. It’s almost like an addiction, maybe even a disorder. It’s quite embarrassing to admit.”
“Ah?” Nai Bing was stunned. I never would have guessed you’d be shy about anything. Yet she herself was blushing crimson, her ears burning. As a lifelong virgin, she couldn’t handle such explicit talk.
Their “date” was interrupted by an unexpected guest: a tall, short-haired Alpha with striking looks and an air of confidence.
“Oh? Miss Yi, what are you doing here?”
Yi Zhanying couldn’t place the woman at all. “Are you a Chi? A Yang?”
“Looks like you’ve completely forgotten me.” The woman noticed Nai Bing, who was standing opposite her in pajamas, glasses, and disheveled hair, and exclaimed in surprise, “Seriously? You’re going after even this now? Have you no shame?”
The stranger, trying to be helpful, openly criticized Yi Zhanying in front of Nai Bing. “Kid, you better watch out. Miss Yi has terrible relationship skills. Her longest relationship lasted only three months. She’s never serious, let alone responsible. Being with her is like being just another snapshot in someone’s stamp album.”
“She’s such a terrible person,” the woman added, twisting the knife.
Nai Bing took every word to heart. While she didn’t think Yi Zhanying’s romantic history was any of her business, she hadn’t planned on getting involved anyway. She couldn’t bear to see her publicly humiliated like this.
“Actually, I don’t think romantic relationships define everything,” Nai Bing explained to the stranger. “At least, she seems normal to me in everyday life. No one’s perfect.” With that, she gathered her things and headed home.
“Oh, I messed up,” the stranger apologized to Yi Zhanying.
“I’m so grateful for your help,” Yi Zhanying replied, her smile sharp as a blade.

Shortly after returning home, Nai Bing received a text message. Since she hadn’t accepted Ms. Yi’s WeChat friend request, they had to communicate through this archaic method.
[“I’m sorry, she seems to have said some strange things to you.”]
Nai Bing lazily typed back, “It’s fine. It has nothing to do with me anyway.”
“Thank you for not hating me because of it.” She even added a cute emoticon.
Ha ha, what’s there to hate? It’s not like I’m dating you, Nai Bing grumbled inwardly, tossing her phone aside and ignoring it.
Romance was the furthest thing from her mind at this stage. As an Alpha with empty pockets and nothing to her name, she needed to focus all her energy on work.
Her bank account balance was less than ten thousand yuan. As soon as her salary came in, she’d have to send sixteen hundred yuan home. After daily expenses, she had be left with only about a thousand yuan. Already a wage slave before graduation!
Dad, Mom, I miss home so much…
As dusk fell, she received an invitation from her friend Xiao Qi:
[The new episode of that awesome talent show is airing tonight! Come over! Snacks and drinks are all ready. K-kun from school will be there too. Don’t miss it! P.S. My sister won’t be home.]
That last line was the key. As long as Yi Zhanying isn’t there, it’s fine. Nai Bing quickly tidied up, brushed her hair, and changed into a clean hoodie before heading out. She’d only run a few hundred meters toward the subway station when a sudden downpour drenched her.
She held her canvas bag over her head for a bit of shelter, bought a ticket, and took the hour-long ride to the Yi residence. “I’m here, Xiao Qi,” she announced, ringing the doorbell while standing in the rain.
“You’re soaked! Didn’t you bring an umbrella?” Yi Mingqi, startled by her friend’s appearance, hurried her inside. “Come in quickly and change into something dry.”
Clean, new slippers were laid out in the entryway. Nai Bing noticed a pair of familiar high heels on the shoe rack weren’t those the ones Yi Zhanying had worn earlier that day?
“Change in my room. Pick whatever you like,” Yi Mingqi directed her friend. “First door around the corner.”
“Thanks, Xiao Qi.” As she walked toward the room, Nai Bing couldn’t help but marvel at the spaciousness of the Yi family’s two-story house. She had never been upstairs before; those must be her parents’ rooms.
She gently turned the doorknob. The room was pitch-black and silent. After fumbling along the wall for a light switch without success, she finally found the bedside lamp and switched it on, illuminating the space.
Sliding open the heavy wooden wardrobe, she was immediately dazzled by the array of clothing styles. Xiao Qi was quite popular at school, and as a fellow Alpha, she had received many confessions of affection. But her friend had no interest in romance, dedicating herself entirely to her studies.
Nai Bing chose the plainest gray undershirt and locked the door, ready to change, when she noticed something moving under the covers. She quickly pulled her half-removed wet clothes back on and decisively yanked the blanket aside.
“Hmm?” Yi Zhanying murmured sleepily, her long hair cascading over her fair skin, her curves barely concealed beneath the rumpled sheets.
“Ah! You!” Nai Bing’s blood ran cold, her face draining of color. This woman actually slept naked? And wasn’t this Xiao Qi’s room? Had she wandered into the wrong place?
Yi Zhanying pulled the blanket around herself and sat up. Exhausted from weekend overtime, she had collapsed into bed as soon as she got home. She fumbled for her clothes, buttoning them up as she mumbled, “Am I dreaming? What’s Little Bing doing here? Could it be I’m hallucinating because I miss you so much?”
Nai Bing stood frozen, speechless.
“It must be a dream,” Yi Zhanying said, rubbing her eyes. “If you were real, you would have dodged out of the way by now.” She stretched and smiled softly. “Since this is my dream, would you give me a hug?”
“Just go back to sleep!”
Nai Bing grabbed her clothes and dashed to the bathroom to change. Her heart pounded as she replayed the image she’d just seen. Could it really be real? She’d never realized a woman’s body could possess such captivating allure and perfect harmony, like a work of art painted by a master.
When Yi Zhanying come out, she noticed a strange young A beside her sister in the living room. She smiled and asked, “Who’s this?”
“A study partner from school, K,” Yi Mingqi replied coldly. “When did you get back? I didn’t even know.”
“I was sleeping the whole time.”
The four of them sprawled across the sofas, watching TV. Nai Bing kept her distance, settling down next to Xiao Qi. The table was piled with snacks: chips, jelly, beef jerky, and bubble gum.
“I’ll make coffee. What does everyone want?” Yi Zhanying asked.
“Cappuccino is fine,” her sister replied.
“Me too!” K chimed in, her eyes sparkling with adoration.
“Same here,” Nai Bing echoed, following suit.
A few minutes later, Yi Zhanying returned with three cappuccinos on a tray. K clutched her cup with both hands, her face lighting up. “Wow, the latte art is so beautiful! Are you a professional barista, Miss?” The girl was utterly defenseless against Yi Zhanying’s charm.
“Not at all,” Yi Zhanying replied softly.
Yi Mingqi glanced at her own cup, then at Nai Bing’s. “Huh? I thought mine would have a heart or something.”
Nai Bing’s latte art featured an adorable Snoopy design. As she tilted her cup to take a sip, she noticed something odd: a blatant confession etched into the cup’s rim. LOVE?
She took another sip and checked again. Sure enough, the letter U followed.
Looking up at the woman across the table, Yi Zhanying smiled knowingly, implying this little secret was just between them.
Hmph!

After finishing their coffee, they started blowing bubble gum, competing to see who could blow the biggest bubbles while watching TV. Rumor had it that experts could even blow multi-layered, forbidden bubbles.
“Xiao Qi’s amazing!” K-kun clapped, Yi Mingqi easily outperforming everyone.
Amid the cheers, Nai Bing noticed Yi Zhanying casually chewing gum. Yi Zhanying tilted her head, signaling Nai Bing to watch. First, she popped her bubble, then, to everyone’s surprise, she blew a heart-shaped bubble.
“Wow! How did you do that?!” Nai Bing exclaimed, seeing a heart-shaped bubble for the first time.
“What’s up? What’s up?” The gossipy K-kun, drawn by the commotion, rushed over.
“Nothing, nothing…” Nai Bing brushed it off, Yi Zhanying gesturing for her to keep quiet.
By nine o’clock, it was time to go home. Since it was raining, the host invited the guests to stay overnight. K-kun readily agreed, but Nai Bing refused to stay no matter what. Yi Zhanying ended up escorting her to the passenger seat of the car.
“Make sure your seatbelt is fastened properly. Let me double-check,” Yi Zhanying leaned in, her hand reaching around Nai Bing’s waist.
Nai Bing held still, trying not to squirm from the ticklish sensation. Yi Zhanying’s long, silky hair brushing against her skin was particularly distracting, stirring up a strange, long-dormant feeling deep inside her.
“So, do you act like this with everyone?” Nai Bing asked curiously as the car pulled smoothly onto the road.
“No, silly. I’ve only ever chased after you,” Yi Zhanying replied. “You can ask Xiao Qi if you don’t believe me.”
