The Scumbag Alpha's Plan to Save the Female Lead - Chapter 29
Chapter 29
A gust of cold wind blew through, and Qi Chen Chen shivered, leaning tightly against her companion and complaining in a low voice: “It’s too spooky here. Let’s hurry up and leave!”
“Yes, yes, hurry up. Chen Chen, walk slowly in the middle. I’m braver; I’ll shine the flashlight ahead to check for any difficult or uneven places.”
The sound of the three people’s footsteps grew fainter. The girl, who had been hiding in the shadows, suddenly emerged from her secluded spot. Using all her strength, she threw a pebble, hitting a tree that was growing wildly beside the gloomy path. Immediately following that, she began to run quickly.
The leaves rustled loudly, like ghosts singing enchanting music in hell with the Grim Reaper’s scythe, masking the sound of her running.
“Ahhh, ahhh!”
The boy who had just been bragging about his courage was so scared that he fell straight onto his butt. The flashlight in his hand dropped onto the path’s gravel.
The flashlight shifted its direction, and the white light shone directly behind the three of them.
In the darkness, Qi Chen Chen crawled on the ground toward the light source, fumbling for the flashlight. Suddenly, she grasped something.
It was a pair of damp and cold hands.
She swallowed hard, letting go of the hand in despair as if she had touched a monster, and shrieked: “It’s a ghost!”
The damp, cold hands seized the flashlight first, extinguishing the only light in the gloomy path.
Hearing the scream, the boy holding the rod frantically waved it in the dark, threatening with false bravery: “I warn you, don’t come closer! We have a rod! Get lost now!”
The flashlight suddenly turned on, set to flashing mode. Everyone’s bodies and eyes involuntarily followed the only light source, yet they couldn’t find any sign of a person.
In the darkness, a pair of damp hands tightly squeezed the neck of the man gripping the steel rod from behind.
“Clatter.” The sound of the steel rod falling to the ground was accompanied by screams and mixed crying, as if the dim path were a slaughterhouse for livestock, and they were the animals waiting to be butchered.
There was a smell of urine in the air; someone inside had been scared out of their wits. Ruan Ye bent down, turned off the flashlight’s flashing mode, carefully picked up the iron rod from the ground, and swung two heavy, muffled blows toward the source of the noise.
The crying and screaming stopped abruptly.
Her technique was precise and clean, without any hesitation, as if she had done it countless times.
The girl holding the iron rod frowned. She pinched her nose slightly in disgust, put down the rod, and planned to find a mask in her backpack first.
After putting on the mask, she intended to go back the way she came, first finding a quiet, well-lit place to figure out the whole situation.
Just then, a distant female voice suddenly trembled and questioned: “Who are you?”
One was still standing.
Ruan Ye furrowed her brow and tightened her grip on the steel rod. She had a flashlight, but she dared not turn it on to confirm the other person’s location, as she didn’t want to expose her identity.
“Are you…” The girl, trembling with fear, seemed to realize something. She tentatively approached and affirmed: “I’m Qi Chen Chen, the president of Song Rang’s fan club. We must have met. Are you Ruan Ye?”
In the empty path, there was only the echo of one person’s voice.
In the darkness, the girl holding the iron rod was expressionless. She did not utter a single word, ignoring the other party’s attempt to engage, using her acute hearing to judge the direction based on the sound of footsteps.
When the female voice tried to speak again, she swung the rod steadily and fiercely in the direction she had judged.
The path returned to a deathly silence. Ruan Ye only turned on the flashlight when she could only hear her own breathing and the breathing of the other three people. She wanted to shine the light on who these three people were.
The flashlight had just been dropped on a stone. Fortunately, only the casing was shattered; the internal circuitry was intact. The white light mercilessly swept across everyone’s faces, but after a brief few seconds, Ruan Ye lost interest.
She had only seen one of these three people before.
It was the girl who had just tried to confirm her identity. Although she couldn’t recall the specific name, she frequently appeared near Song Rang, so Ruan Ye had some impression of her.
Ruan Ye frowned. Thinking of what they had just said, she tentatively opened her phone and searched on the Federal Star Network.
The moment she saw the trending topic, she suddenly relaxed her tightly furrowed brows.
Known danger is often easier to avoid than the unknown.
Sure enough, something had happened.
In the gloom, the girl stopped the urge to turn back and go another way. The faint light from her phone shone on her slightly pale face. Ruan Ye clutched her frantically beating heart and couldn’t help but check her call history for missed calls.
Seeing the empty call log, Ruan Ye managed a self-mocking smile.
She must be crazy.
The first person she thought of at a time like this was whether Zhi Qiu would see the trending topic and come looking for her, or at least call to check on her.
Disappointment mixed with a sudden sense of inexplicable anger. Ruan Ye coldly stripped the three people of everything they carried.
There was a flashlight, an iron rod, chocolate, and a bottle of foundation…
Intense dissatisfaction, like a Siren’s song, tempted her to lose reason. The long-suppressed desire for revenge quietly began to sprout.
Ruan Ye did not turn back to stay elsewhere for the night, nor did she contact Song Rang to ask what was going on, nor did she contact her only… friend at school, Zhi Qiu.
Because she was misunderstood and couldn’t go home, why should she be the only one to humble herself and be taken advantage of?
Ruan Ye roughly stuffed all the retrieved items into her backpack, clipped the functional flashlight onto her waist, and tightly gripped the steel rod in her palm.
On the path, the girl with the heavy backpack had an indistinct face, but her steps were incredibly firm. She continued walking toward Apartment 6, only half a kilometer away.
In the hallway of Apartment 6.
A dozen people were crowded into a secluded corner. Each of them carried some form of self-defense weapon, waiting like hunters for their prey.
Perhaps because the target was an Omega, no one carried weapons with lethal potential. The heaviest item was merely a wooden rod. Most of the other items were Federal-issued pepper spray, self-defense sprays, or pepper spray plus.
After a long wait, someone finally complained: “Come on, we’ve been waiting for so long! Why hasn’t this sasaeng fan come home yet? Did you check the wrong place, or get the time wrong?”
The leader was an Omega. Generally, most Omegas develop long, slender limbs after differentiation, but she seemed to have a genetic mutation. Not only was she short, but her limbs were also notably robust. The only memorable features were the two dimples of different depths at the corners of her mouth.
Morale could not be allowed to drop. She quickly climbed up from the ground and encouraged the group: “I have internal news. It’s absolutely impossible to be wrong. This time, we must protect Rang Rang and prevent the sasaeng fan from threatening his personal safety.”
Someone chimed in.
“Dimple Sis is right. It’s worth any hardship or exhaustion to protect Rang Rang’s safety. We absolutely cannot let this go and encourage the trend of sasaeng stalking. Let’s wait a little longer!”
“Creak.”
The door to Apartment 6 was pushed open.
The eleven people hiding in the corner immediately held their breath. Someone peeked out, keenly scanning the newcomer, trying to determine her identity through the narrow gap.
The person entering was a girl. Her height was obscured in the darkness, but upon closer inspection, a faint side profile could be seen.
A high nose bridge, a well-defined jawline, a slender figure—as an old fan of Song Rang, the fire of anger burned in Little Dimple’s eyes.
She knew it; this woman who had always been near Brother Song Rang had malicious intentions.
Brother Song had only just moved, and she couldn’t wait to move into the apartment as well. Fortunately, Brother Song had seen through her tricks long ago.
Thinking this, Dimple Sis suddenly gave a sinister smile. She waved her hand and shouted loudly: “Sisters, let’s go!”
