The Scumbag Alpha's Plan to Save the Female Lead - Chapter 28
Chapter 28
The scorching September sun was blazing high, the daylight felt hot enough to burn the skin, searing the flesh and causing discomfort.
Yet, in this extreme heat, the girl in the wheelchair was constantly shivering, her arms trembling as if she had fallen into a freezing ice cellar.
After seeing the doxxed address posted online by Song Rang’s fans, Zhi Qiu’s grip on the phone tightened fiercely, almost crushing the screen.
She turned her back and moved into the tree shade. The tree shadows flickered, and the green branches offered the last sliver of coolness under the intense sun for passing pedestrians.
The shade under the large tree helped Zhi Qiu calm her impulsive mind.
The address the fans had doxxed on the trending topic was incorrect, which was a blessing in disguise. Otherwise, with Ruan Ye living alone, the danger she would be in now would be unimaginable.
The girl in the wheelchair turned around, leaving the embrace of the tree and returning to the scorching sun, opening the car door. Under the blazing daylight, her body didn’t warm up; instead, cold sweat poured down.
Sweat flowed from her forehead along the girl’s delicate jawline toward her neck. The bone-chilling coldness followed her blood flow, spreading throughout her body.
Inside the luxury car, an urgent female voice, with unquestionable certainty, commanded.
“Turn around and go to Huai An Community.”
Huai An and Huai Bei were in completely opposite directions, separated by a full one hundred kilometers. Even on the highway, it would take about half an hour to reach.
After the bodyguard lifted the wheelchair into the trunk and closed it, the Truth System transformed into a green leaf and flew into the car. The small green shape slowly drifted into Zhi Qiu’s hand.
The person sitting in the back seat seemed distraught, and the Truth System nestled in Zhi Qiu’s hand could feel it best, as her palm was constantly covered in cold sweat.
Since their binding, the system had never seen Zhi Qiu so preoccupied.
Therefore, the Truth System organized its words and attempted to comfort her: “Don’t worry, Miss Ruan Ye will definitely be fine. Song Rang’s fans on the trending topic checked the wrong location and doxxed the wrong address. Plus, you just separated a little while ago; even if Ruan Ye took the fastest transport, she might have only just arrived home.”
The system was right; the address was wrong. But somehow, Zhi Qiu still felt uneasy.
A subtle sixth sense told her that the situation might not be as optimistic as it seemed.
Suddenly, the image of Ruan Ye standing by the roadside, waiting for the car to drive away on the Mid-Autumn Festival on Old Earth, flashed through her mind. Zhi Qiu’s grip on the leaf tightened further.
If the green leaf wasn’t the system, it would probably have been crushed into a pile of dust and reduced to scattered mud by now.
Just as the car was about to enter the highway, the person in the back seat suddenly told the driver to stop. Zhi Qiu’s face was pale, and her voice trembled: “Turn back, take me to… Apartment 6, Huai Bei Road.”
The clock had moved into the afternoon.
Although the sky hadn’t darkened yet, the sun was already settled in the west, yawning and waiting for the late-arriving moon to take over.
To speed up her commute, Ruan Ye had specifically acquired a floating-magnet transport card. With official Federal certification, she could use the fastest transportation methods available in the Federation for free until her apartment lease expired.
The apartment room in this complex was rented by Song Rang’s brother to help her escape her adoptive parents.
Apartment 6, Huai Bei Road, was near the Huai Bei villa area. It was high-end, with excellent privacy.
There was a reason Song Rang chose a secluded apartment near the Huai Bei villa area. As a well-known Federal star, living here allowed him to avoid public scrutiny and protect his privacy.
After getting off the floating-magnet transport, she had to walk six kilometers to reach the apartment. But Ruan Ye knew a small path that bypassed the complex traffic lights and property guards, leading directly into Apartment 6.
In the completely enclosed, dim path, the girl in the blue and white school uniform walked quietly. Her expression was calm, with no hint of fear of the dark, as if she was very familiar with this path.
For some people, the more their heart aches, the colder their expression becomes.
Ruan Ye walked on, her thoughts drifting far away. She couldn’t spare a moment for herself, letting her heart ache freely.
A sudden surge of self-respect.
It made her push away the only person at school who cared about her.
There were tears in the eyes of the girl walking alone down the dim path in her school uniform, but she ultimately didn’t cry. The tears flowed inward, and all regrets, accompanied by bitterness, were swallowed back into her heart. Just like before, a person always has to be strong.
Looking into the distance, she could see the sunlight at the end of the path. Home was only a few steps away. The girl let down some of her guard. Her body swayed slightly, but her spirit felt relieved.
“Crack.” It was the sound of a twig being snapped.
Someone was on this path. Ruan Ye was momentarily stunned, unsure what to do. She stopped her forward movement and leaned against a dark corner of the path, hiding herself in the shadows.
People were talking.
“So annoying. The brainless fans in the fan group said they’d come squat later tonight, but they rushed me to come now as soon as the topic trended. I’ve been squatting on the ground for over an hour; my legs are going numb.” A slightly delicate female voice complained.
There were three people walking together. One was shining a flashlight everywhere, and another held a steel rod for self-defense. They were walking one after the other.
Hearing the Omega, who was protected in the middle, complain, the Beta holding the rod consoled her: “Chen Chen, it’s okay. Even though we didn’t catch the Omega stalking Song Rang, there are others guarding her doorway. I guarantee that as soon as she steps into the apartment door, she’ll be caught and won’t be able to harass your idol anymore!”
Hearing this, the female Omega called Chen Chen silently rolled her eyes. She knew that nothing she said would be believed by these fans, so she stopped talking about the issue and started chatting instead.
“This path is too dark. It’s amazing they found such a small path that leads directly into Apartment 6. This trending topic has really blown up. I heard someone pulled the topic, but it was only down for a few minutes before someone bought it up again.”
“That shouldn’t happen,” the person leading the way with the flashlight said in confusion. “The one who pulled the trend was probably Brother Song. After all, that Omega named Ruan Ye is a long-time fan of his. He always spoils his fans so much; he definitely couldn’t bear to see his fan being cyberbullied. But if Brother Song wanted to pull the trend, someone was able to buy it back up. What kind of background must they have?”
Hearing the phrase “Song Rang wanted to pull the trend,” Qi Chen Chen couldn’t help but burst out laughing.
Song Rang pulling a trending topic to protect a fan?
Her conscience was still beating healthily. She simply couldn’t echo such foolish words spoken by fans viewing the situation through rose-colored glasses.
If that were truly the case, she, Qi Chen Chen, would drink all the water in the lake dry. Honestly speaking, no star in the entertainment industry was more unscrupulous or greedy for attention than Song Rang.
