The Scumbag Alpha's Plan to Save the Female Lead - Chapter 17
Chapter 17
“You call me a leaky boat, so what are you? An incompetent heir of the Zhi family whose head is full of Omegas? Don’t think I don’t know about those messed-up things you did with Fu Jinyan a few days ago!”
Wait.
Fu Jinyan?
The exasperated Alpha finally realized what was wrong. He stopped smashing things and looked at the person sitting in the wheelchair, calmly caressing the porcelain.
Reason returned, and madness faded. Fu Jinxing kept approaching where Zhi Qiu was sitting, finally stopping half a foot away from the wheelchair. His tall body crouched down, gazing up greedily at the high and mighty Alpha, affirming, “You’re here to help me.”
The woman in the wheelchair looked lethargic, her left hand stroking the porcelain, seemingly uninterested in conversation.
Since being recognized by the family, how had Fu Jinxing ever suffered such indignity? Yet, right now, he had no choice but to bow his head to the only person who might be able to help him.
The person crouching on the floor seemed to have done a lot of mental preparation, gritting his teeth as he said, “As long as you can ruin Fu Jinyan’s reputation, once I inherit the Fu family, I will give you 30% of all my shares.”
Hearing this, Zhi Qiu smiled and shook her head, explaining, “That’s not what I meant.”
She wouldn’t put eggs on a leaky boat full of flaws, but right now, she needed this leaky boat to let those on the cruise ship taste the flavor of drowning.
“You stand up first and listen to me. I need you to go…”
The Fu Family.
The outer chamber, which had just been cold and quiet with only servants serving tea and water, had now turned into a lively social scene.
Alphas gathered enthusiastically, discussing the current stock market and business, with occasional heated debates breaking out. Omegas generally disliked conflict and mostly avoided the clustered Alphas, sitting elegantly in the tearoom, exchanging the latest news from the fashion world.
There was a recent explosive piece of news in the fashion world.
“Did you hear? Master Leichlin went to North-Anderson to teach. I’m so regretful. It’s been over a year since I graduated from school. If I were still there, I definitely could have gotten her guidance, and maybe I could have designed even more exquisite pieces!” A beautifully dressed, elegant Omega shook her head regretfully. The hairpin in her hair also swayed, and the dangling chain chimed several times.
Seeing her friend upset, the circle of sisters quickly consoled her: “Cheng Cheng, don’t be so self-deprecating. You’ve already done very well. You are now the most famous designer in the country. Given time, you will definitely go international like Leichlin!”
These words drew envious glances from a few Omegas protected in the family’s greenhouse. This slightly eased the expression of the woman called Cheng Cheng, but she still shook her head, unwilling to concede: “I’m still lacking a little bit of luck.”
The expensive metal chains clinked clearly. The vibrant red jade in the sunlight highlighted the woman’s fair skin. Finally, someone noticed the item embedded in the sighing woman’s hairpin.
It was a cultural relic unearthed from the Republic of China era on Old Earth—a red carved hairpin.
Wen Wan gasped, calling out in shock: “Cheng Cheng, is that on your head the antique carving that was on the auction catalogue this year but was bought privately in the end?!”
Finally, someone recognized its value.
Cheng Cheng almost thought that even if she sighed until the end of the banquet, these bumpkins wouldn’t notice.
She chuckled inwardly but maintained a calm demeanor, feigning ignorance: “I thought it was just ordinary jade. Is it really that valuable? My brother, honestly, I only won a domestic designer competition, and he went to such expense. I must scold him properly when I get back.”
The Omegas’ tearoom was filled with delicate pastries, and the drinks were carefully screened; wines with too high an alcohol content or those that were too spicy were not allowed here.
The Fu family had always done an excellent job in protecting Omegas. After all, the head of the Fu family was one of the declarers of AO equality. He had once publicly called for Alphas to safeguard the rights of Omegas at the Federal Assembly, and his company received strong support from the Federation and Omegas because of this.
However, it was a bit too conventional. Not all Omegas liked these things.
Both the food and the conversation made Yuan Menglu look listless, even more likely to induce drowsiness than Leichlin’s masterclass that morning.
Finally, the butler’s knock on the door saved her.
“Respected Omegas, our banquet is about to begin. Please proceed to the inner chamber.”
Inner Chamber.
Director Fu had intended to introduce his son to the Zhi family head. Seeing the two talking animatedly, he was even more pleased with his eldest son, in whom he had placed high hopes.
The two talked so engagingly that Director Fu was left out. With this momentary break, he remembered the main character of the banquet.
Where did he go?
The thought of his incompetent second son made Director Fu’s brows furrow. He signaled to a bodyguard to quickly find him. The banquet was about to begin; it wouldn’t do for the main character to be absent.
“Father!”
Before the bodyguard could move, a clear male voice traveled across the boundary between the inner and outer chambers.
Fu Jinyan, who was deep in conversation with Zhi Ze’en, also paused, looking up in surprise at his nominal younger brother.
The person, who was originally dressed to the nines, colorful like a peacock displaying its feathers, had quietly taken off the blue suit and accessories, changing into a simple grey uniform.
His attitude was neither servile nor overbearing, and his demeanor was steady, which made Director Fu nod in satisfaction.
If a person’s radiance was stolen by accessories, they were foolish. Now that his second son had taken off those things, he somewhat resembled his father in his younger days: clean and straightforward!
Director Fu became interested, looped his arm around his second son’s shoulder, and brought him before Zhi Ze’en.
Fu Jinyan was most adept at reading people’s minds. Seeing the situation, he tactfully stepped back half a pace, yielding a position for his father.
“Jinxing, quickly say hello to your Uncle Zhi.”
Zhi Ze’en was surprised. Unlike Fu Jinyan, he felt a strange sense of familiarity with this recently found child of the Fu family but couldn’t recall who the child’s mother was.
Hearing the greeting, Zhi Ze’en smiled and nodded. Knowing the other person was nervous and still a marginalized figure after returning to the Fu family, he initiated a light topic: “Jinxing, why didn’t I see you earlier? Were you out playing with friends?”
Hearing this, the slightly nervous Fu Jinxing suddenly smiled brightly, as if he had a well-thought-out plan. He spoke confidently: “I was just checking on the guests in the outer chamber. Unexpectedly, I ran into Uncle Zhi’s daughter, Zhi Qiu. She is very knowledgeable and easygoing. We chatted a lot and had a great conversation, like old friends who haven’t seen each other for over a decade.”
