The Scumbag Alpha's Plan to Save the Female Lead - Chapter 12
Chapter 12
Someone was still busy in the blood analysis lab.
The nurses who worked late into the night had gradually left the hospital, and one of the careless ones had forgotten to close the ward window.
In the midsummer night, the howling wind slipped through the window, blowing the dark hair of the girl deep in sleep.
A single feather drifted with the wind to the window, gently closing it, and then disappeared into the air.
The human form of the Truth System stepped onto the ground outside.
Accompanied by the strong wind, the sky had grown dark, and rumbles of thunder came from the farthest reaches of outer space, seeming to tear apart everything within earshot.
A System should not have a heart, but the Truth System felt an inexplicable pain in its chest.
Perhaps it should be called its heart.
The most important physical organ for humans, but for it, the core program that maintained its operation.
A few raindrops fell on the leaves, making a crisp tapping sound.
It reached out, and the raindrops passed through its transparent hands, moisturizing the ground beneath its feet.
“Is it raining?”
The System’s voice was shaking.
Morning.
Sunlight filtered through the leaves, casting warmth onto the south-facing rooms.
People came and went in the ward; the private hospital was bustling early.
Even though Zhi Qiu strongly objected, she couldn’t resist Doctor Mu’s insistence and had another check-up early in the morning.
This time, the medical staff was relatively complete, and the results came out in less than a quarter of an hour. Mu Ye held the professional blood analysis report and breathed a sigh of relief.
He handed the report to the girl sitting in the wheelchair, who seemed utterly indifferent to the results, and said, “All your physical indicators are healthy. Now I can finally account for this to your father.”
Zhi Qiu took the examination report, gave it a quick glance, and handed it back. She showed no attitude toward the diagnoses of the famous doctors.
The original owner’s parents were so concerned about her health merely because they needed a healthy Alpha to be the family successor. What a pity.
Zhi Qiu turned the wheelchair, adjusted its direction toward the elevator, and slowly wheeled herself over.
Downstairs, Shang Wu was already waiting there with a group of bodyguards.
It had just rained last night, and the air still carried the chilling coolness of the rainwater. The rain continued to fall, seemingly picking up intensity.
The weather was too cold and damp. The other dispatched bodyguards chose to wait in the cars, but only Shang Wu stood there, wearing a thin uniform, seemingly oblivious to the cold.
The elevator slowly descended. As soon as Zhi Qiu reached the first floor, she was greeted.
The person was Shang Wu.
He took the wheelchair with his left hand and held an umbrella with his right, leaning against the side of the wheelchair.
The rest of the bodyguards also got out of the cars one after another, eagerly surrounding Zhi Qiu.
After seeing Zhi Qiu into the car, Shang Wu worriedly instructed the others on precautionary matters.
Today, he had received a mission from Director Zhi to attend a banquet hosted by the Fu family as an attendant.
Therefore, he had to return to the Zhi family manor early to stand by.
Through the car window, Shang Wu looked at the still-ailing Zhi Qiu with some concern.
Her face was pale, as if she had just wrestled with illness.
The car engine roared, and the bodyguard in the driver’s seat started the car.
As the car was about to leave, the window suddenly rolled down.
A hand extended a card of an unclear color.
Shang Wu instinctively stepped forward and took the object from Zhi Qiu’s hand.
It was a deep purple card, branded with a long string of numbers, like an invitation code, interspersed with numerous numbers and capital and lowercase letters, and strange symbols, as if fearing it might be memorized.
Shang Wu lowered his head, his expression indistinct, only grasping the card tightly, as if it were a treasure.
The rolled-down window offered a view of the card owner’s profile. Shang Wu didn’t dare to look directly at the young lady. He always felt those eyes saw everything.
“You’ve been by my side for so many years; it’s time for a promotion. Just being a bodyguard is selling your talent short. Unfortunately, only my father has the Alliance Gold Card. This Purple Card can only get you relatively important positions in the Alliance.”
The person in the car smiled and added, “But I just got this Purple Card when I came of age. I wonder if you are willing to stay by my side and contribute to the Zhi family’s enterprise in the future.”
Overwhelming sorrow or immense joy can cause a person to lose the ability to express themselves.
If it were anyone else, they would probably be expressing their loyalty to their master in ecstasy, but Shang Wu’s throat seemed blocked, and he couldn’t utter a word.
Zhi Qiu knew what kind of person Shang Wu was from her past life and did not want to press him. She nodded to the driver, signaling that they could depart.
The car started, the bodyguard in the front row turned on the interior air conditioner, and slowly rolled up the window.
As the vehicle slowly drove away, Shang Wu lowered his hand clutching the card in the cold wind.
His voice seemed about to be scattered by the wind: “I’m willing.”
In the luxury car, the System, unable to stand the loneliness of pretending to be a wheelchair in the trunk, secretly sneaked out and transformed into a leaf, landing in Zhi Qiu’s hand.
Summer leaves are tender green, but the one in Zhi Qiu’s hand had an exclusive autumn hue—withered yellow.
The System did not intend to hide the fact that it knew Zhi Qiu’s past. It asked bluntly, “You clearly know Shang Wu will betray you in the end, so why did you give him that card? This way, he can freely enter the Zhi family to access your information. As a trusted subordinate, having the card will only make it easier for him to betray you and make him more valued by the enemy.”
“Is there a better choice for a trusted subordinate than him?” Zhi Qiu didn’t directly answer the System’s question but asked one in return.
“You…”
The System seemed provoked by her nonchalance.
The leaf did not stay in Zhi Qiu’s hand but kept fluttering toward the window, only to be grabbed back.
“Why are you throwing a tantrum?” Seeing the leaf tossing and turning in her hand, Zhi Qiu was amused by her own anger and mocked, “Shang Wu will betray me, but won’t others? In my past life, the Zhi family almost collapsed, and the bodyguards trained over the years ran away faster than anyone. Although Shang Wu eventually chose the Song family, he was the last of these people to leave. Go on, tell me if there is a better candidate?”
The leaf stopped moving after hearing this. The System didn’t know where its anger came from, but it refused to answer Zhi Qiu.
It didn’t say anything, but deep down, it was very upset by Zhi Qiu’s complete indifference to this world’s affairs.
Their conversation abruptly stopped.
Even knowing the other party was dissatisfied, Zhi Qiu couldn’t explain why she struggled to empathize with the betrayal the original owner suffered.
She didn’t originally belong here; she was merely chosen by fate to come to this world.
In her original world, Zhi Qiu was not a believer, but now, in this other world, she was willing to believe that some divine will truly existed, and there was someone worthy of her sacrificing everything to come here for.
At the gates of North-Anderson School.
The weather was cold and damp, and heavy rain was pouring down. The meteorological station had given an early warning for such bad weather, so many public schools had dismissed students early.
Only North-Anderson was different.
The daily curriculum here was set months in advance.
Which foreign expert professor would fly to China to teach during which time slot was coordinated by a team over several weeks.
The person invited to teach at North-Anderson this week was an internationally famous Omega.
She was not only an actuary but also founded an independent brand, a celebrity known for both skill and virtue.
Therefore, even with the bad weather, the heirs of wealthy families were urged by their families to attend.
Raindrops constantly smashed onto the asphalt road, and the wind blew heavily to one side.
Zhi Qiu turned her back, bracing against the wind, and held the umbrella steady in the rain. Her gaze searched among the luxury cars and the people getting out, and she quickly spotted a familiar figure in the crowd.
Perhaps due to malnutrition, the girl, though eighteen, looked somewhat thin. Her clean school uniform stood out awkwardly among the crowds wearing big-name logos.
The girl, who had been walking slowly and unnoticed in the crowd, seemed to sense something. She raised her head, and her ash-grey eyes immediately brightened.
Someone is waiting for you.
It was undoubtedly the most potent method to ignite a person’s potential.
“Zhi Qiu, are you… waiting for me?” Ruan Ye clutched her closed umbrella, slightly out of breath.
Despite the ordinary school uniform, the girl seemed to have dressed carefully today. Her high ponytail was neatly tied, and her lips were rosy, unlike yesterday’s paleness, except for the hair at her temples. The rain had dampened the carefully pressed hair at her temples as she ran over.
Dry.
Ruan Ye recovered from her gasping and raised her eyes.
An umbrella was held over her head, and the person sitting in the wheelchair was gently wiping her rain-soaked temples with a handkerchief.
Gentleness.
This was the first word that flashed into her mind.
Perhaps she was too vulnerable, but Ruan Ye felt her eyes slowly filling with tears.
She realized that one day, she too would encounter someone who would get soaked on one side just to hold an umbrella for her.
Across the loud roaring of the rain, the messy sounds of footsteps, and the clamor of car engines, she heard that person’s gentle voice whispering to her.
“Why run so fast?”
